Nick Desaulniers 246398ece7 [clang][Parse] properly parse asm-qualifiers, asm inline
Summary:
The parsing of GNU C extended asm statements was a little brittle and
had a few issues:
- It was using Parse::ParseTypeQualifierListOpt to parse the `volatile`
  qualifier. That parser is really meant for TypeQualifiers; an asm
  statement doesn't really have a type qualifier. This is still maybe
  nice to have, but not necessary. We now can check for the `volatile`
  token by properly expanding the grammer, rather than abusing
  Parse::ParseTypeQualifierListOpt.
- The parsing of `goto` was position dependent, so `asm goto volatile`
  wouldn't parse. The qualifiers should be position independent to one
  another. Now they are.
- We would warn on duplicate `volatile`, but the parse error for
  duplicate `goto` was a generic parse error and wasn't clear.
- We need to add support for the recent GNU C extension `asm inline`.
  Adding support to the parser with the above issues highlighted the
  need for this refactoring.

Reid Kleckner e08464fb45 Avoid including FileManager.h from SourceManager.h
Most clients of SourceManager.h need to do things like turning source
locations into file & line number pairs, but this doesn't require
bringing in FileManager.h and LLVM's FS headers.

The main code change here is to sink SM::createFileID into the cpp file.
I reason that this is not performance critical because it doesn't happen
on the diagnostic path, it happens along the paths of macro expansion
(could be hot) and new includes (less hot).

Richard Smith 5c845c1c50 PR45083: Mark statement expressions as being dependent if they appear in
a dependent context.

This matches the GCC behavior.

We track the enclosing template depth when determining whether a
statement expression is within a dependent context; there doesn't appear
to be any other reliable way to determine this.

We previously assumed they were neither value- nor
instantiation-dependent under any circumstances, which would lead to
crashes and other misbehavior.

Bill Wendling 50cac24877 Support output constraints on "asm goto"
Summary:
Clang's "asm goto" feature didn't initially support outputs constraints. That
was the same behavior as gcc's implementation. The decision by gcc not to
support outputs was based on a restriction in their IR regarding terminators.
LLVM doesn't restrict terminators from returning values (e.g. 'invoke'), so
it made sense to support this feature.

Output values are valid only on the 'fallthrough' path. If an output value's used
on an indirect branch, then it's 'poisoned'.

In theory, outputs *could* be valid on the 'indirect' paths, but it's very
difficult to guarantee that the original semantics would be retained. E.g.
because indirect labels could be used as data, we wouldn't be able to split
critical edges in situations where two 'callbr' instructions have the same
indirect label, because the indirect branch's destination would no longer be
the same.

Michele Scandale bd5b22070b Fix TryParsePtrOperatorSeq.
The syntax rules for ptr-operator allow attributes after *, &,
&&, therefore we should be able to parse the following:

void fn() {
    void (*[[attr]] x)() = &fn;
    void (&[[attr]] y)() = fn;
    void (&&[[attr]] z)() = fn;
}
However the current logic in TryParsePtrOperatorSeq does not consider
the presence of attributes leading to unexpected parsing errors.

Moreover we should also consider _Atomic a possible qualifier that can
appear after the sequence of attribute specifiers.

Johannes Doerfert 1228d42dda [OpenMP][Part 2] Use reusable OpenMP context/traits handling
This patch implements an almost complete handling of OpenMP
contexts/traits such that we can reuse most of the logic in Flang
through the OMPContext.{h,cpp} in llvm/Frontend/OpenMP.

All but construct SIMD specifiers, e.g., inbranch, and the device ISA
selector are define in `llvm/lib/Frontend/OpenMP/OMPKinds.def`. From
these definitions we generate the enum classes `TraitSet`,
`TraitSelector`, and `TraitProperty` as well as conversion and helper
functions in `llvm/lib/Frontend/OpenMP/OMPContext.{h,cpp}`.

The above enum classes are used in the parser, sema, and the AST
attribute. The latter is not a collection of multiple primitive variant
arguments that contain encodings via numbers and strings but instead a
tree that mirrors the `match` clause (see `struct OpenMPTraitInfo`).

The changes to the parser make it more forgiving when wrong syntax is
read and they also resulted in more specialized diagnostics. The tests
are updated and the core issues are detected as before. Here and
elsewhere this patch tries to be generic, thus we do not distinguish
what selector set, selector, or property is parsed except if they do
behave exceptionally, as for example `user={condition(EXPR)}` does.

The sema logic changed in two ways: First, the OMPDeclareVariantAttr
representation changed, as mentioned above, and the sema was adjusted to
work with the new `OpenMPTraitInfo`. Second, the matching and scoring
logic moved into `OMPContext.{h,cpp}`. It is implemented on a flat
representation of the `match` clause that is not tied to clang.
`OpenMPTraitInfo` provides a method to generate this flat structure (see
`struct VariantMatchInfo`) by computing integer score values and boolean
user conditions from the `clang::Expr` we keep for them.

The OpenMP context is now an explicit object (see `struct OMPContext`).
This is in anticipation of construct traits that need to be tracked. The
OpenMP context, as well as the `VariantMatchInfo`, are basically made up
of a set of active or respectively required traits, e.g., 'host', and an
ordered container of constructs which allows duplication. Matching and
scoring is kept as generic as possible to allow easy extension in the
future.

---

Test changes:

The messages checked in `OpenMP/declare_variant_messages.{c,cpp}` have
been auto generated to match the new warnings and notes of the parser.
The "subset" checks were reversed causing the wrong version to be
picked. The tests have been adjusted to correct this.
We do not print scores if the user did not provide one.
We print spaces to make lists in the `match` clause more legible.

According to OpenMP 5.0, The atomic_default_mem_order clause specifies the default memory ordering behavior for atomic constructs that must be provided by an implementation. If the default memory ordering is specified as seq_cst, all atomic constructs on which memory-order-clause is not specified behave as if the seq_cst clause appears. If the default memory ordering is specified as relaxed, all atomic constructs on which memory-order-clause is not specified behave as if the relaxed clause appears.
If the default memory ordering is specified as acq_rel, atomic constructs on which memory-order-clause is not specified behave as if the release clause appears if the atomic write or atomic update operation is specified, as if the acquire clause appears if the atomic read operation is specified, and as if the acq_rel clause appears if the atomic captured update operation is specified.

The idea is that this would allow projects to limit the size of certain
widely included headers, or for translation units overall, as a way to

Saar Raz b481f02814 [Concepts] Placeholder constraints and abbreviated templates
This patch implements P1141R2 "Yet another approach for constrained declarations".

General strategy for this patch was:

- Expand AutoType to include optional type-constraint, reflecting the wording and easing the integration of constraints.
- Replace autos in parameter type specifiers with invented parameters in GetTypeSpecTypeForDeclarator, using the same logic
  previously used for generic lambdas, now unified with abbreviated templates, by:
  - Tracking the template parameter lists in the Declarator object
  - Tracking the template parameter depth before parsing function declarators (at which point we can match template
    parameters against scope specifiers to know if we have an explicit template parameter list to append invented parameters
    to or not).
- When encountering an AutoType in a parameter context we check a stack of InventedTemplateParameterInfo structures that
  contain the info required to create and accumulate invented template parameters (fields that were already present in
  LambdaScopeInfo, which now inherits from this class and is looked up when an auto is encountered in a lambda context).

Resubmit after fixing MSAN failures caused by incomplete initialization of AutoTypeLocs in TypeSpecLocFiller.

[clang][CodeComplete] Make completion work after initializer lists
Summary:
CodeCompletion was not being triggered after successfully parsed
initializer lists, e.g.

```cpp
void foo(int, bool);
void bar() {
  foo({1}^, false);
```

CodeCompletion would suggest the function foo as an overload candidate up until
the point marked with `^` but after that point we do not trigger signature help
since parsing succeeds.

This patch handles that case by failing in parsing expression lists whenever we
see a codecompletion token, in addition to getting an invalid subexpression.

Saar Raz e57a9abc4b [Concepts] Placeholder constraints and abbreviated templates

Resubmit after incorrect check in NonTypeTemplateParmDecl broke lldb.

Richard Smith a42fd84cff Remove redundant CXXScopeSpec from TemplateIdAnnotation.
A TemplateIdAnnotation represents only a template-id, not a
nested-name-specifier plus a template-id. Don't make a redundant copy of
the CXXScopeSpec and store it on the template-id annotation.

This slightly improves error recovery by more properly handling the case
where we would form an invalid CXXScopeSpec while parsing a typename
specifier, instead of accidentally putting the token stream into a
broken "annot_template_id with a scope specifier, but with no preceding
annot_cxxscope token" state.

Anastasia Stulova e6522a96f5 [OpenCL] Allow addr space qualifiers on lambda call expressions
The addr space qualifier can be added optionally for lambdas after
the attributes. They will alter the default addr space of lambda
call operator that is in generic address space by default for OpenCL.

Syntax:

[ captures ] ( params ) specifiers exception attr opencl_addrspace
                    -> ret { body }

Example:

[&] (int i) mutable __global { ... };

On the call into lambda a compatibility check will be performed to
determine whether address space of lambda object and its call operator
are compatible. This will follow regular addr space conversion rules
and there will be no difference to how addr spaces work in method
qualifiers.

Hans Wennborg 92ce2aff68 Actually delay processing DelayedDllExportClasses until the outermost class is finished (PR40006)
This was already the intention of DelayedDllExportClasses, but code such as
this would break it:

template<typename> struct Tmpl {};
struct Outer {
    struct Inner {
        __declspec(dllexport) Inner() = default;
        unsigned int x = 0;
    };
    Tmpl<Inner> y;
};

ActOnFinishCXXNonNestedClass() would get called when the instantiation of
Templ<Inner> is finished, even though the compiler is still not finished with
Outer, causing the compile fail.

This hooks into Sema::{Push,Pop}ParsingClass() to avoid calling
ActOnFinishCXXNonNestedClass() for template instantiations while a class is
being parsed.

Pierre Habouzit d4e1ba3fa9 Implement __attribute__((objc_direct)), __attribute__((objc_direct_members))
__attribute__((objc_direct)) is an attribute on methods declaration, and
__attribute__((objc_direct_members)) on implementation, categories or
extensions.

A `direct` property specifier is added (@property(direct) type name)

These attributes / specifiers cause the method to have no associated
Objective-C metadata (for the property or the method itself), and the
calling convention to be a direct C function call.

The symbol for the method has enforced hidden visibility and such direct
calls are hence unreachable cross image. An explicit C function must be
made if so desired to wrap them.

The implicit `self` and `_cmd` arguments are preserved, however to
maintain compatibility with the usual `objc_msgSend` semantics,
3 fundamental precautions are taken:

1) for instance methods, `self` is nil-checked. On arm64 backends this
   typically adds a single instruction (cbz x0, <closest-ret>) to the
   codegen, for the vast majority of the cases when the return type is a
   scalar.

2) for class methods, because the class may not be realized/initialized
   yet, a call to `[self self]` is emitted. When the proper deployment
   target is used, this is optimized to `objc_opt_self(self)`.

   However, long term we might want to emit something better that the
   optimizer can reason about. When inlining kicks in, these calls
   aren't optimized away as the optimizer has no idea that a single call
   is really necessary.

3) the calling convention for the `_cmd` argument is changed: the caller
   leaves the second argument to the call undefined, and the selector is
   loaded inside the body when it's referenced only.

As far as error reporting goes, the compiler refuses:
- making any overloads direct,
- making an overload of a direct method,
- implementations marked as direct when the declaration in the
  interface isn't (the other way around is allowed, as the direct
  attribute is inherited from the declaration),
- marking methods required for protocol conformance as direct,
- messaging an unqualified `id` with a direct method,
- forming any @selector() expression with only direct selectors.

As warnings:
- any inconsistency of direct-related calling convention when
  @selector() or messaging is used,
- forming any @selector() expression with a possibly direct selector.

Lastly an `objc_direct_members` attribute is added that can decorate
`@implementation` blocks and causes methods only declared there (and in
no `@interface`) to be automatically direct. When decorating an
`@interface` then all methods and properties declared in this block are
marked direct.

Richard Smith 7e8fe67f0e PR43080: Do not build context-sensitive expressions during name classification.
Summary:
We don't know what context to use until the classification result is
consumed by the parser, which could happen in a different semantic
context. So don't build the expression that results from name
classification until we get to that point and can handle it properly.

This covers everything except C++ implicit class member access, which
is a little awkward to handle properly in the face of the protected
member access check. But it at least fixes all the currently-filed
instances of PR43080.

Summary:
Clang uses the location identifier should be inserted for declarator
decls when a decl is unnamed. But for type template and template template
paramaters it uses the location of "typename/class" keyword, which makes it hard
for tooling to insert/change parameter names.

This change tries to unify these two cases by making template parameter
parsing and sourcerange operations similar to function params/declarator decls.

The type `T` here is called "DerefType" in the paper,

points to. E.g. `std::vector<int>` should be annotated
with `[[gsl::Owner(int)]]` and
a `std::vector<int>::iterator` with `[[gsl::Pointer(int)]]`.

with this patch, the consteval specifier is treated as constexpr but can only be applied to function declaration.

Changes:
 - add the consteval keyword.
 - add parsing of consteval specifier for normal declarations and lambdas expressions.
 - add the whether a declaration is constexpr is now represented by and enum everywhere except for variable because they can't be consteval.
 - adapt diagnostic about constexpr to print constexpr or consteval depending on the case.
 - add tests for basic semantic.

Jennifer Yu 954ec09aed clang support gnu asm goto.
Syntax:
  asm [volatile] goto ( AssemblerTemplate
                      :
                      : InputOperands
                      : Clobbers
                      : GotoLabels)

https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Extended-Asm.html

New llvm IR is "callbr" for inline asm goto instead "call" for inline asm
For:
asm goto("testl %0, %0; jne %l1;" :: "r"(cond)::label_true, loop);
IR:
callbr void asm sideeffect "testl $0, $0; jne ${1:l};", "r,X,X,~{dirflag},~{fpsr},~{flags}"(i32 %0, i8* blockaddress(@foo, %label_true), i8* blockaddress(@foo, %loop)) #1
          to label %asm.fallthrough [label %label_true, label %loop], !srcloc !3

asm.fallthrough:

Compiler need to generate:
1> a dummy constarint 'X' for each label.
2> an unique fallthrough label for each asm goto stmt " asm.fallthrough%number".

Diagnostic
1>	duplicate asm operand name are used in output, input and label.
2>	goto out of scope.

This patch adjusts `PragmaOpenMPHandler` to set the location of

`omp` location so that the former becomes the start location of the
OpenMP AST node. This can be useful when, for example, rewriting a

Currently, a pragma AST node's recorded location starts at the
namespace token (such as `omp` in the case of OpenMP) after the

the `#pragma` location can be useful when, for example, rewriting a

This patch makes `#pragma` locations available in any `PragmaHandler`

This patch also uses the new `struct PragmaIntroducer` to simplify
`Preprocessor::HandlePragmaDirective`. It doesn't do the same for
`PPCallbacks::PragmaDirective` because that changes the API documented
in `clang-tools-extra/docs/pp-trace.rst`, and I'm not sure about
backward compatibility guarantees there.

Richard Smith b23c5e8c3d [c++20] Implement P0846R0: allow (ADL-only) calls to template-ids whose
template name is not visible to unqualified lookup.

In order to support this without a severe degradation in our ability to
diagnose typos in template names, this change significantly restructures
the way we handle template-id-shaped syntax for which lookup of the
template name finds nothing.

Instead of eagerly diagnosing an undeclared template name, we now form a
placeholder template-name representing a name that is known to not find
any templates. When the parser sees such a name, it attempts to
disambiguate whether we have a less-than comparison or a template-id.
Any diagnostics or typo-correction for the name are delayed until its
point of use.

The upshot should be a small improvement of our diagostic quality
overall: we now take more syntactic context into account when trying to
resolve an undeclared identifier on the left hand side of a '<'. In
fact, this works well enough that the backwards-compatible portion (for
an undeclared identifier rather than a lookup that finds functions but
no function templates) is enabled in all language modes.

Nicolas Lesser 5fe2ddbdf4 [clang] adding explicit(bool) from c++2a
this patch adds support for the explicit bool specifier.

Changes:
- The parsing for the explicit(bool) specifier was added in ParseDecl.cpp.
- The storage of the explicit specifier was changed. the explicit specifier was stored as a boolean value in the FunctionDeclBitfields and in the DeclSpec class. now it is stored as a PointerIntPair<Expr*, 2> with a flag and a potential expression in CXXConstructorDecl, CXXDeductionGuideDecl, CXXConversionDecl and in the DeclSpec class.
- Following the AST change, Serialization, ASTMatchers, ASTComparator and ASTPrinter were adapted.
- Template instantiation was adapted to instantiate the potential expressions of the explicit(bool) specifier When instantiating their associated declaration.
- The Add*Candidate functions were adapted, they now take a Boolean indicating if the context allowing explicit constructor or conversion function and this boolean is used to remove invalid overloads that required template instantiation to be detected.
- Test for Semantic and Serialization were added.

This patch is not yet complete. I still need to check that interaction with CTAD and deduction guides is correct. and add more tests for AST operations. But I wanted first feedback.

The various CorrectionCandidateCallbacks are currently heap-allocated
unconditionally. This was needed because of delayed typo correction.
However these allocations represent currently 15.4% of all allocations
(number of allocations) when parsing all of Boost (!), mostly because
of ParseCastExpression, ParseStatementOrDeclarationAfterAttrtibutes
and isCXXDeclarationSpecifier. Note that all of these callback objects
are small. Let's not do this.

Instead initially allocate the callback on the stack, and only do a
heap allocation if we are going to do some typo correction. Do this by:

1. Adding a clone function to each callback, which will do a polymorphic
   clone of the callback. This clone function is required to be implemented
   by every callback (of which there is a fair amount). Make sure this is
   the case by making it pure virtual.

2. Use this clone function when we are going to try to correct a typo.

This additionally cut the time of -fsyntax-only on all of Boost by 0.5%
(not that much, but still something). No functional changes intended.

Brian Gesiak 9db9b1a175 [coroutines][PR40978] Emit error for co_yield within catch block
Summary:
As reported in https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40978, it's an
error to use the `co_yield` or `co_await` keywords outside of a valid
"suspension context" as defined by [expr.await]p2 of
http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/papers/2018/n4775.pdf.

Whether or not the current scope was in a function-try-block's
(https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/language/function-try-block) handler
could be determined using scope flag `Scope::FnTryCatchScope`. No
such flag existed for a simple C++ catch statement, so this commit adds
one.

This adds support for static_assert() (and _Static_assert()) in

It was already supported in @implementation blocks outside of the ivar lists.

The assert AST nodes are added at file scope, matching where other

Also add a `__has_feature(objc_c_static_assert)` that's true in C11 (and

Richard Smith a6e8d5e554 PR40642: Fix determination of whether the final statement of a statement
expression is a discarded-value expression.

Summary:
We used to get this wrong in three ways:

1) During parsing, an expression-statement followed by the }) ending a
   statement expression was always treated as producing the value of the
   statement expression. That's wrong for ({ if (1) expr; })
2) During template instantiation, various kinds of statement (most
   statements not appearing directly in a compound-statement) were not
   treated as discarded-value expressions, resulting in missing volatile
   loads (etc).
3) In all contexts, an expression-statement with attributes was not
   treated as producing the value of the statement expression, eg
   ({ [[attr]] expr; }).

Also fix incorrect enforcement of OpenMP rule that directives can "only
be placed in the program at a position where ignoring or deleting the
directive would result in a program with correct syntax". In particular,
a label (be it goto, case, or default) should not affect whether
directives are permitted.

Johannes Doerfert ac991bbb44 Emit !callback metadata and introduce the callback attribute
With commit r351627, LLVM gained the ability to apply (existing) IPO
  optimizations on indirections through callbacks, or transitive calls.
  The general idea is that we use an abstraction to hide the middle man
  and represent the callback call in the context of the initial caller.
  It is described in more detail in the commit message of the LLVM patch
  r351627, the llvm::AbstractCallSite class description, and the
  language reference section on callback-metadata.

  This commit enables clang to emit !callback metadata that is
  understood by LLVM. It does so in three different cases:
    1) For known broker functions declarations that are directly
       generated, e.g., __kmpc_fork_call for the OpenMP pragma parallel.
    2) For known broker functions that are identified by their name and
       source location through the builtin detection, e.g.,
       pthread_create from the POSIX thread API.
    3) For user annotated functions that carry the "callback(callee, ...)"
       attribute. The attribute has to include the name, or index, of
       the callback callee and how the passed arguments can be
       identified (as many as the callback callee has). See the callback
       attribute documentation for detailed information.

This is necessary to prevent a pitfall of using multiple #pragma

when macros are involved. It isn't easy to see which pop corripsonds
to which push, so its easy to inadvertently pop the wrong group.

Roman Lebedev 377748fd7b [clang][Parse] Diagnose useless null statements / empty init-statements
Summary:
clang has `-Wextra-semi` (D43162), which is not dictated by the currently selected standard.
While that is great, there is at least one more source of need-less semis - 'null statements'.
Sometimes, they are needed:
```
for(int x = 0; continueToDoWork(x); x++)
  ; // Ugly code, but the semi is needed here.
```

But sometimes they are just there for no reason:
```
switch(X) {
case 0:
  return -2345;
case 5:
  return 0;
default:
  return 42;
}; // <- oops
;;;;;;;;;;; <- OOOOPS, still not diagnosed. Clearly this is junk.
```

Additionally:
```
if(; // <- empty init-statement
   true)
  ;
switch (; // empty init-statement
        x) {
  ...
}
for (; // <- empty init-statement
     int y : S())
  ;
}
As usual, things may or may not go sideways in the presence of macros.
While evaluating this diag on my codebase of interest, it was unsurprisingly
discovered that Google Test macros are *very* prone to this.
And it seems many issues are deep within the GTest itself, not
in the snippets passed from the codebase that uses GTest.
So after some thought, i decided not do issue a diagnostic if the semi
is within *any* macro, be it either from the normal header, or system header.
Aaron Ballman c44c174246 Introduce the _Clang scoped attribute token.
Currently, we only accept clang as the scoped attribute identifier for double square bracket attributes provided by Clang, but this has the potential to conflict with user-defined macros. To help alleviate these concerns, this introduces the _Clang scoped attribute identifier as an alias for clang. It also introduces a warning with a fixit on the off chance someone attempts to use __clang__ as the scoped attribute (which is a predefined compiler identification macro).
Reid Kleckner 4dc0b1ac60 Fix clang -Wimplicit-fallthrough warnings across llvm, NFC
This patch should not introduce any behavior changes. It consists of
mostly one of two changes:
1. Replacing fall through comments with the LLVM_FALLTHROUGH macro
2. Inserting 'break' before falling through into a case block consisting
   of only 'break'.
We were already using this warning with GCC, but its warning behaves
slightly differently. In this patch, the following differences are
relevant:
1. GCC recognizes comments that say "fall through" as annotations, clang
   doesn't
2. GCC doesn't warn on "case N: foo(); default: break;", clang does
3. GCC doesn't warn when the case contains a switch, but falls through
   the outer case.
I will enable the warning separately in a follow-up patch so that it can
be cleanly reverted if necessary.
Summary:
Code completion in clang is actually a mix of two features:
- Code completion is a familiar feature. Results are exposed via the
- Signature help figures out if the current expression is an argument of
  some function call and shows corresponding signatures if so.
  Results are exposed via CodeCompleteConsumer::ProcessOverloadCandidates.
This patch refactors the implementation to untangle those two from each
other and makes some naming tweaks to avoid confusion when reading the
code.
The refactoring is required for signature help fixes, see D51038.
The only intended behavior change is the order of callbacks.
ProcessOverloadCandidates is now called before ProcessCodeCompleteResults.
Michael Kruse dc5ce72afa Append new attributes to the end of an AttributeList.
Recommit of r335084 after revert in r335516.
... instead of prepending it at the beginning (the original behavior
since implemented in r122535 2010-12-23). This builds up an
AttributeList in the the order in which the attributes appear in the
source.
The reverse order caused nodes for attributes in the AST (e.g. LoopHint)
to be in the reverse order, and therefore printed in the wrong order in
-ast-dump. Some TODO comments mention this. The order was explicitly
reversed for enable_if attribute overload resolution and name mangling,
which is not necessary anymore with this patch.
The change unfortunately has some secondary effect, especially on
diagnostic output. In the simplest cases, the CHECK lines or expected
diagnostic were changed to the the new output. If the kind of
error/warning changed, the attributes' order was changed instead.
This unfortunately causes some 'previous occurrence here' hints to be
textually after the main marker. This typically happens when attributes
are merged, but are incompatible to each other. Interchanging the role
of the the main and note SourceLocation will also cause the case where
two different declaration's attributes (in contrast to multiple
attributes of the same declaration) are merged to be reverse. There is
no easy fix because sometimes previous attributes are merged into a new
declaration's attribute list, sometimes new attributes are added to a
previous declaration's attribute list. Since 'previous occurrence here'
pointing to locations after the main marker is not rare, I left the
markers as-is; it is only relevant when the attributes are declared in
the same declaration anyway.
Richard Smith ef6c43dc0c Refactor checking of switch conditions and case values.
Check each case value in turn while parsing it, performing the
conversion to the switch type within the context of the expression
itself. This will become necessary in order to properly handle cleanups
for temporaries created as part of the case label (in an upcoming
patch). For now it's just good hygiene.
This necessitates moving the checking for the switch condition itself to
earlier, so that the destination type is available when checking the
case labels.
As a nice side-effect, we get slightly improved diagnostic quality and
error recovery by separating the case expression checking from the case
statement checking and from tracking whether there are discarded case
labels.
Erich Keane 3efe00206f Implement cpu_dispatch/cpu_specific Multiversioning
As documented here: https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/682969 and
https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/523346. cpu_dispatch multiversioning
is an ICC feature that provides for function multiversioning.
This feature is implemented with two attributes: First, cpu_specific,
which specifies the individual function versions. Second, cpu_dispatch,
which specifies the location of the resolver function and the list of
resolvable functions.
This is valuable since it provides a mechanism where the resolver's TU
can be specified in one location, and the individual implementions
each in their own translation units.
The goal of this patch is to be source-compatible with ICC, so this
implementation diverges from the ICC implementation in a few ways:
1- Linux x86/64 only: This implementation uses ifuncs in order to
properly dispatch functions. This is is a valuable performance benefit
over the ICC implementation. A future patch will be provided to enable
this feature on Windows, but it will obviously more closely fit ICC's
implementation.
2- CPU Identification functions: ICC uses a set of custom functions to identify
the feature list of the host processor. This patch uses the cpu_supports
functionality in order to better align with 'target' multiversioning.
1- cpu_dispatch function def/decl: ICC's cpu_dispatch requires that the function
marked cpu_dispatch be an empty definition. This patch supports that as well,
however declarations are also permitted, since the linker will solve the
issue of multiple emissions.
Richard Smith bf5bcf2c15 Diagnose missing 'template' keywords in more cases.
We track when we see a name-shaped expression followed by a '<' token
and parse the '<' as a comparison. Then:
 * if we see a token sequence that cannot possibly be an expression but
   can be a template argument (in particular, a type-id) that follows
   either a ',' or the '<', diagnose that the '<' was supposed to start
   a template argument list, and
 * if we see '>()', diagnose that the '<' was supposed to start a
   template argument list.
This only changes the diagnostic for error cases, and in practice
appears to catch the most common cases where a missing 'template'
keyword leads to parse errors within a template.
Richard Smith 69bc9aa22f Restore pre-r335182 behavior for naming inherited constructors as
members of dependent contexts.
This permits cases where the names before and after the '::' in a
dependent inherited constructor using-declaration do not match, but
where we can nonetheless tell when parsing the template that a
constructor is being named. Under (open) core language DR 2070, such
cases will probably be ill-formed, but r335182 does not quite give
that result and didn't intend to change this, so restore the old
Diagnose the name of the class being shadowed by using declarations, and
improve the diagnostics for the case where the name of the class is
shadowed by a non-static data member in a class with constructors.  In
the latter case, we now always give the "member with the same name as
its class" diagnostic regardless of the relative order of the member and
the constructor, rather than giving an inscrutible diagnostic if the
constructor appears second.
Michael Kruse ea31f0e4b8 Append new attributes to the end of an AttributeList.
... instead of prepending it at the beginning (the original behavior
since implemented in r122535 2010-12-23). This builds up an
AttributeList in the the order in which the attributes appear in the
source.
The reverse order caused nodes for attributes in the AST (e.g. LoopHint)
to be in the reverse, and therefore printed in the wrong order by
-ast-dump. Some TODO comments mention this. The order was explicitly
reversed for enable_if attribute overload resolution and name mangling,
which is not necessary anymore with this patch.
The change unfortunately has some secondary effects, especially for
diagnostic output. In the simplest cases, the CHECK lines or expected
diagnostic were changed to the the new output. If the kind of
error/warning changed, the attribute's order was changed instead.
It also causes some 'previous occurrence here' hints to be textually
after the main marker. This typically happens when attributes are
merged, but are incompatible. Interchanging the role of the the main
and note SourceLocation will also cause the case where two different
declaration's attributes (in contrast to multiple attributes of the
same declaration) are merged to be reversed. There is no easy fix
because sometimes previous attributes are merged into a new
declaration's attribute list, sometimes new attributes are added to a
previous declaration's attribute list. Since 'previous occurrence here'
pointing to locations after the main marker is not rare, I left the
markers as-is; it is only relevant when the attributes are declared in
the same declaration anyway, which often is on the same line.
Shoaib Meenai 5faf6d88e8 Reapply "[Parse] Use CapturedStmt for @finally on MSVC"
This reapplies r334224 and adds explicit triples to some tests to fix
them on Windows (where otherwise they would have run with the default
windows-msvc triple, which I'm changing the behavior for).
Original commit message:
The body of a `@finally` needs to be executed on both exceptional and
non-exceptional paths. On landingpad platforms, this is straightforward:
the `@finally` body is emitted as a normal (non-exceptional) cleanup,
and then a catch-all is emitted which branches to that cleanup (the
cleanup has code to conditionally re-throw based on a flag which is set
by the catch-all).
Unfortunately, we can't use the same approach for MSVC exceptions, where
the catch-all will be emitted as a catchpad. We can't just branch to the
cleanup from within the catchpad, since we can only exit it via a
catchret, at which point the exception is destroyed and we can't
rethrow. We could potentially emit the finally body inside the catchpad
and have the normal cleanup path somehow branch into it, but that would
require some new IR construct that could branch into a catchpad.
Instead, after discussing it with Reid Kleckner, we decided that
frontend outlining was the best approach, similar to how SEH `__finally`
works today. We decided to use CapturedStmt (which was also suggested by
Reid) rather than CaptureFinder (which is what `__finally` uses) since
the latter doesn't handle a lot of cases we care about, e.g. self
accesses, property accesses, block captures, etc. Extending
CaptureFinder to handle those additional cases proved unwieldy, whereas
CapturedStmt already took care of all of those.  In theory `__finally`
could also be moved over to CapturedStmt, which would remove some
existing limitations (e.g. the inability to capture this), although
CaptureFinder would still be needed for SEH filters.
The one case supported by `@finally` but not CapturedStmt (or
CaptureFinder for that matter) is arbitrary control flow out of the
`@finally`, e.g. having a return statement inside a `@finally`. We can
add that support as a follow-up, but in practice we've found it to be
used very rarely anyway.
Richard Smith b5f8171a1b PR37189 Fix incorrect end source location and spelling for a split '>>' token.
When a '>>' token is split into two '>' tokens (in C++11 onwards), or (as an
extension) when we do the same for other tokens starting with a '>', we can't
just use a location pointing to the first '>' as the location of the split
token, because that would result in our miscomputing the length and spelling
for the token. As a consequence, for example, a refactoring replacing 'A<X>'
with something else would sometimes replace one character too many, and
similarly diagnostics highlighting a template-id source range would highlight
one character too many.
Fix this by creating an expansion range covering the first character of the
'>>' token, whose spelling is '>'. For this to work, we generalize the
expansion range of a macro FileID to be either a token range (the common case)
or a character range (used in this new case).
Note how in the instantiated version ImplicitValueInitExpr unexpectedly appears.
While objects are auto-initialized under ARC, it does not make sense to
have an initializer for a for-loop variable, and it makes even less
sense to have such a different AST for instantiated and non-instantiated
version.
Digging deeper, I have found that there are two separate Sema* files for
dealing with templates and for dealing with non-templatized code.
In a non-templatized version, an initialization was performed only for
variables which are not loop variables for an Objective-C loop and not
variables for a C++ for-in loop:
```
  if (FRI && (Tok.is(tok::colon) || isTokIdentifier_in())) {
    bool IsForRangeLoop = false;
    if (TryConsumeToken(tok::colon, FRI->ColonLoc)) {
      IsForRangeLoop = true;
      if (Tok.is(tok::l_brace))
        FRI->RangeExpr = ParseBraceInitializer();
      else
        FRI->RangeExpr = ParseExpression();
    }

    Decl *ThisDecl = Actions.ActOnDeclarator(getCurScope(), D);
    if (IsForRangeLoop)
      Actions.ActOnCXXForRangeDecl(ThisDecl);
    Actions.FinalizeDeclaration(ThisDecl);
    D.complete(ThisDecl);
    return Actions.FinalizeDeclaratorGroup(getCurScope(), DS, ThisDecl);
  }

  SmallVector<Decl *, 8> DeclsInGroup;
  Decl *FirstDecl = ParseDeclarationAfterDeclaratorAndAttributes(
      D, ParsedTemplateInfo(), FRI);
```
However the code in SemaTemplateInstantiateDecl was inconsistent,
guarding only against C++ for-in loops.
Richard Smith 77a9c60aa6 Fix a couple of cases where we would fail to correctly parse deduced class template specialization types.
Specifically, we would not properly parse these types within template arguments
(for non-type template parameters), and in tentative parses. Fixing both of
these essentially requires that we parse deduced template specialization types
as types in all contexts, even in template argument lists -- in particular,
tentative parsing may look ahead and annotate a deduced template specialization
type before we figure out that we're actually supposed to treat the tokens as a
template-name. We deal with this by simply permitting deduced template
specialization types when parsing template arguments, and converting them to
template template arguments.
* ActiveTemplateInstantiation class is moved out of the Sema class (so it can be used with inclusion of Sema.h).
* CreateFrontendAction function in front-end utilities is given external linkage (not longer a hidden static function).
* TemplateInstObserverChain data member added to Sema class to hold the list of template-inst observers.
Vedant Kumar a14a1f923f [Parse] Forward brace locations to TypeConstructExpr
When parsing C++ type construction expressions with list initialization,
forward the locations of the braces to Sema.
Without these locations, the code coverage pass crashes on the given test
case, because the pass relies on getLocEnd() returning a valid location.
Here is what this patch does in more detail:
  - Forwards init-list brace locations to Sema (ParseExprCXX),
  - Builds an InitializationKind with these locations (SemaExprCXX), and
  - Uses these locations for constructor initialization (SemaInit).
The remaining changes fall out of introducing a new overload for
creating direct-list InitializationKinds.
asserts enabled.
Summary:
First, this patch fixes an assert failure when, for example, "omp for"
Second, this patch prevents duplicate diagnostics when, for example,
This patch makes the general assumption (even where it doesn't
necessarily fix an existing bug) that it is worthless to perform sema
for a clause that appears on a directive on which OpenMP does not
permit that clause.  However, due to this assumption, this patch
suppresses some diagnostics that were expected in the test suite.  I
assert that those diagnostics were likely just distracting to the
user.
Faisal Vali 090da2d1ac Again reverting an attempt to convert the DeclSpec enums into scoped enums.
- reverts r321622, r321625, and r321626.
  - the use of bit-fields is still resulting in warnings - even though we can use static-asserts to harden the code and ensure the bit-fields are wide enough.  The bots still complain of warnings being seen.
  - to silence the warnings requires specifying the bit-fields with the underlying enum type (as opposed to the enum type itself), which then requires lots of unnecessary static casts of each enumerator within DeclSpec to the underlying-type, which even though could be seen as implementation details, it does hamper readability - and given the additional litterings, makes me question the value of the change.
So in short - I give up (for now at least).
precedence levels as weights for determining where to break lines (and several
operators increased their precedence levels with this change), thread-safety
analysis needed changes to build its own IL properly for the new operator.
All "real" semantic checking for this operator has been deferred to a future
So the user can save an extra //condition// if the statement can test the value to-be-decomposed instead.  Formally, it makes the value of the underlying object of the structured binding declaration also the value of a //condition// that is an initialized declaration.
Considering its logicality which is entirely evident from its trivial implementation, I think it might be acceptable to land it as an extension for now before I write the paper.
It allows us to determine when we don't need to add ':' as a second
chunk to the public/protected/private access modifiers.
Alex Lorenz 45b4014711 Recommit r308327 3rd time: Add a warning for missing
'#pragma pack (pop)' and suspicious uses of '#pragma pack' in included files
The second recommit (r309106) was reverted because the "non-default #pragma
pack value chages the alignment of struct or union members in the included file"
warning proved to be too aggressive for external projects like Chromium
(https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=749197). This recommit
makes the problematic warning a non-default one, and gives it the
-Wpragma-pack-suspicious-include warning option.
The first recommit (r308441) caused a "non-default #pragma pack value might
change the alignment of struct or union members in the included file" warning
in LLVM itself. This recommit tweaks the added warning to avoid warnings for
#includes that don't have any records that are affected by the non-default
alignment. This tweak avoids the previously emitted warning in LLVM.
Original message:
This commit adds a new -Wpragma-pack warning. It warns in the following cases:
- When a translation unit is missing terminating #pragma pack (pop) directives.
- When entering an included file if the current alignment value as determined
  by '#pragma pack' directives is different from the default alignment value.
- When leaving an included file that changed the state of the current alignment
  value.
Akira Hatanaka 12ddceecde [Sema] Fix a crash-on-invalid when a template parameter list has a class
definition or non-reference class type.
The crash occurs when there is a template parameter list in a class that
is missing the closing angle bracket followed by a definition of a
struct. For example:
class C0 {
public:
  template<typename T, typename T1 = T // missing closing angle bracket
  struct S0 {};
  C0() : m(new S0<int>) {}
  S0<int> *m;
};
This happens because the parsed struct is added to the scope of the
enclosing class without having its access specifier set, which results
in an assertion failure in SemaAccess.cpp later.
This commit fixes the crash by adding the parsed struct to the enclosing
file scope and marking structs as invalid if they are defined in
template parameter lists.
Faisal Vali 56f1de4dcb Fix PR25627: constant expressions being odr-used in template arguments.
This patch ensures that clang processes the expression-nodes that are generated when disambiguating between types and expressions within template arguments as constant-expressions by installing the ConstantEvaluated ExpressionEvaluationContext just before attempting the disambiguation - and then making sure that Context carries through into ParseConstantExpression (by refactoring it out into a function that does not create its own EvaluationContext: ParseConstantExpressionInExprEvalContext)
Note, prior to this patch, trunk would correctly disambiguate and identify the expression as an expression - and while it would annotate the token with the expression - it would fail to complete the odr-use processing (specifically, failing to trigger Sema::UpdateMarkingForLValueToRValue as is done for all Constant Expressions, which would remove it from being considered odr-used).  By installing the ConstantExpression Evaluation Context prior to disambiguation, and making sure it carries though, we ensure correct processing of the expression-node.
For e.g:
  template<int> struct X { };
  void f() {
    const int N = 10;
    X<N> x; // should be OK.
    [] { return X<N>{}; }; // Should be OK - no capture - but clang errors!
  }
See a related bug: https://bugs.llvm.org//show_bug.cgi?id=25627
In summary (and reiteration), the fix is as follows:
    - Remove the EnteredConstantEvaluatedContext action from ParseTemplateArgumentList (relying on ParseTemplateArgument getting it right)
    - Add the EnteredConstantEvaluatedContext action just prior to undergoing the disambiguating parse, and if the parse succeeds for an expression, carry the context though into a refactored version of ParseConstantExpression that does not create its own ExpressionEvaluationContext.
See https://reviews.llvm.org/D31588 for additional context regarding some of the more fragile and complicated approaches attempted, and Richard's feedback that eventually shaped the simpler and more robust rendition that is being committed.
Thanks Richard!
Hubert Tong 605eacafa7 Fix valid-for-expr ellipses eaten as invalid decl
Summary:
The trial parse for declarative syntax accepts an invalid pack
declaration syntax, which is ambiguous with valid pack expansions of
expressions. This commit removes the invalid pack declaration syntax to
avoid mistaking valid pack expansions as invalid declarator components.
Additionally, the trial parse of a //template-argument-list// then needs
to handle the optional ellipsis that is part of that grammar, as opposed
to relying on the trial parse for declarators accepting stray ellipses.
Richard Smith af3b325627 Fix the location of "missing ';'" suggestions after annotation tokens.
We were incorrectly setting PrevTokLocation to the first token in the
annotation token instead of the last when consuming it. To fix this without
adding a complex switch to the hot path through ConsumeToken, we now have a
ConsumeAnnotationToken function for consuming annotation tokens in addition
to the other Consume*Token special case functions.
Richard Smith 52f8d19ced Improve diagnosis of unknown template name.
When an undeclared identifier in a context that requires a type is followed by
'<', only look for type templates when typo-correcting, tweak the diagnostic
text to say that a template name (not a type name) was undeclared, and parse
the template arguments when recovering from the error.
Richard Smith 42bc73a3f1 When we see a '<' operator, check whether it's a probable typo for a template-id.
The heuristic that we use here is:
 * the left-hand side must be a simple identifier or a class member access
 * the right-hand side must be '<' followed by either a '>' or by a type-id that
   cannot be an expression (in particular, not followed by '(' or '{')
 * there is a '>' token matching the '<' token
The second condition guarantees the expression would otherwise be ill-formed.
If we're confident that the user intended the name before the '<' to be
interpreted as a template, diagnose the fact that we didn't interpret it
that way, rather than diagnosing that the template arguments are not valid
expressions.
