Julian Lettner 2f46983981 [Sanitizer][Darwin] Factor out code for GCD worker registration
This is a NFC change to factor out GCD worker thread registration via
the pthread introspection hook.

In a follow-up change we also want to register GCD workers for ASan to
make sure threads are registered before we attempt to print reports on
them.

Julian Lettner ca50840b5b [Sanitizer][Darwin] Cleanup MaybeReexec() function and usage
While investigating another issue, I noticed that `MaybeReexec()` never
actually "re-executes via `execv()`" anymore.  `DyldNeedsEnvVariable()`
only returned true on macOS 10.10 and below.

Usually, I try to avoid "unnecessary" cleanups (it's hard to be certain
that there truly is no fallout), but I decided to do this one because:

* I initially tricked myself into thinking that `MaybeReexec()` was
  relevant to my original investigation (instead of being dead code).
* The deleted code itself is quite complicated.
* Over time a few other things were mushed into `MaybeReexec()`:
  initializing `MonotonicNanoTime()`, verifying interceptors are
  working, and stripping the `DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES` env var to avoid
  problems when forking.
* This platform-specific thing leaked into `sanitizer_common.h`.
* The `ReexecDisabled()` config nob relies on the "strong overrides weak
  pattern", which is now problematic and can be completely removed.
* `ReexecDisabled()` actually hid another issue with interceptors not
  working in unit tests.  I added an explicit `verify_interceptors`
  (defaults to `true`) option instead.

Julian Lettner 0a9667b0f5 [Sanitizer][Darwin] Cleanup MaybeReexec() function and usage
While investigating another issue, I noticed that `MaybeReexec()` never

Blue Gaston 9145cb8b7c [Sanitizers][Darwin] Add READ/WRITE detection on arm64 for darwin.
On arm64 the read/write flag is set on the esr register.
	Adding this flag check for arm64 enables a more accurate
	print out for sanitizer signal reports and matches the
	behavior on x86.

Roy Sundahl d179627ef0 Fix sanitizer stack traces on aarch64.
Fixes llvm-project/compiler-rt/test/asan/TestCases/null_deref.cpp on
macOS/aarch64.

The bp (base pointer) variable was being loaded from register LR and
not FP on aarch64 (except for this narrow case):
defined(__IPHONE_8_0) && __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MAX_ALLOWED >= __IPHONE_8_0

Without a valid bp from the FP register, it is not possible to traverse
previous frames for a complete stack trace. The rationale for fetching
the LR as the bp for all cases except above is not clear but since the
FP register is the canonical register for use as the frame pointer, this
commit removes the restriction above for unconditional use all aarch64.

Blue Gaston fc4c872d8f [Darwin][ASan] Fix "interceptor working?" check for DriverKit platform
The previous check for interceptors used `pthread_create()` which is not
available on DriverKit.  We need an intercepted symbol that satisfies
the following constraints:

- Symbol is available in DriverKit
- Symbol is provided by simulator runtime dylibs (`dlsym()` fails to
  look up host-provided symbols)

`puts()` satisfies all of the above constraints.

Dmitry Vyukov abc51fac09 sanitizer_common: expose max_address from LoadedModule
Currently LoadedModule provides max_executable_address.
Replace it with just max_address.
It's only used for printing for human inspection and since
modules are non-overlapping, max_address is as good as max_executable_address
for matching addresses/PCs against modules (I assume it's used for that).
On the hand, max_address is more general and can used to match e.g. data addresses.
I want to use it for that purpose in future changes.

Teresa Johnson 634da7a1c6 [sanitizer] Check if directory exists before trying to create
Add a DirExists mechanism, modeled after FileExists. Use it to guard
creation of the report path directory.

This should avoid failures running the sanitizer in a sandbox where the
file creation attempt causes hard failures, even for an existing
directory. Problem reported on D109794 for ChromeOS in sandbox
(https://issuetracker.google.com/209296420).

Nikita Popov 36cae4299d Reapply [sanitizers] Avoid macro clash in SignalContext::WriteFlag (NFC)
D116208 may cause a macro clash on older versions of linux, where
fs.h defines a READ macro. This is resolved by switching to a more
typical casing style for non-macro symbols.

Reapplying with changes to the symbol names in various platform
specific code, which I missed previously.

Nico Weber 5dd8ff7380 [asan/mac] Fix remaining -Wformat warnings
AARCH64_GET_REG() is used to initialize uptrs, and after D79132
the ptrauth branch of its implementation explicitly casts to uptr.

The non-ptrauth branch returns ucontext->uc_mcontext->__ss.__fp (etc),
which has either type void* or __uint64_t (ref usr/include/mach/arm/_structs.h)
where __uint64_t is a unsigned long long (ref usr/include/arm/_types.h).
uptr is an unsigned long (ref
compiler-rt/lib/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_internal_defs.h). So explicitly
cast to uptr in this branch as well, so that AARCH64_GET_REG() has a
well-defined type.

Then change DUMPREGA64() tu use %lx instead of %llx since that's the right type
for uptr. (Most other places in compiler-rt print uptrs as %p and cast the arg
to (void*), but there are explicit 0x%016 format strings in the surroundings,
so be locally consistent with that.)

No behavior change, in the end it's just 64-bit unsigneds by slightly different
names.

David CARLIER 443820179a [compiler-rt] TlsBaseAddr value for darwin arm64
getting the tls base address. unlike linux arm64, the tpidr_el0 returns always 0 (aka unused)
thus using tpidrro_el0 instead clearing up the cpu id encoded in the lower bits.

Mutex supports reader access, OS blocking, spinning,
portable and smaller than BlockingMutex.
Overall it's supposed to be better than RWMutex/BlockingMutex.
Replace RWMutex/BlockingMutex with Mutex.

Dmitry Vyukov 56debbf52e sanitizers: switch BlockingMutex(LINKER_INITIALIZED) to Mutex
Mutex does not support LINKER_INITIALIZED support.
As preparation to switching BlockingMutex to Mutex,
proactively replace all BlockingMutex(LINKER_INITIALIZED) to Mutex.
All of these are objects with static storage duration and Mutex ctor
is constexpr, so it should be equivalent.

Semaphore is a portable way to park/unpark threads.
The plan is to use it to implement a portable blocking
mutex in subsequent changes. Semaphore can also be used
to efficiently wait for other things (e.g. we currently
spin to synchronize thread creation and start).

Enable clang Thread Safety Analysis for sanitizers:

Thread Safety Analysis can detect inconsistent locking,
deadlocks and data races. Without GUARDED_BY annotations
it has limited value. But this does all the heavy lifting
to enable analysis and allows to add GUARDED_BY incrementally.

Dmitry Vyukov 8df3c7ded2 sanitizer_common: sanitize time functions
We have SleepForSeconds, SleepForMillis and internal_sleep.
Some are implemented in terms of libc functions, some -- in terms
of syscalls. Some are implemented in per OS files,
some -- in libc/nolibc files. That's unnecessary complex
and libc functions cause crashes in some contexts because
we intercept them. There is no single reason to have calls to libc
when we have syscalls (and we have them anyway).

Add internal_usleep that is implemented in terms of syscalls per OS.
Make SleepForSeconds/SleepForMillis/internal_sleep a wrapper
around internal_usleep that is implemented in sanitizer_common.cpp once.

Also remove return values for internal_sleep, it's not used anywhere.

Eventually it would be nice to remove SleepForSeconds/SleepForMillis/internal_sleep.
There is no point in having that many different names for the same thing.

Emily Shi 6ae7fc0a29 [compiler-rt] check max address from kernel is <= mmap range size
If these sizes do not match, asan will not work as expected. Previously, we added compile-time checks for non-iOS platforms. We check at run time for iOS because we get the max VM size from the kernel at run time.

If these sizes do not match, asan will not work as expected.

If possible, assert at compile time that the vm size is less than or equal to mmap range.
If a compile time assert is not possible, check at run time (for iOS)

This was reverted by f176803ef1 due to
Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64 glibc 2.23 problems.
This commit additionally calls `__tls_get_addr({modid,0})` to work around the
dlpi_tls_data==NULL issues for glibc<2.25
(https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19826)

GetTls is the range of

* thread control block and optional TLS_PRE_TCB_SIZE
* static TLS blocks plus static TLS surplus

On glibc, lsan requires the range to include
`pthread::{specific_1stblock,specific}` so that allocations only referenced by
`pthread_setspecific` can be scanned.

This patch uses `dl_iterate_phdr` to collect TLS blocks. Find the one
with `dlpi_tls_modid==1` as one of the initially loaded module, then find
consecutive ranges. The boundaries give us addr and size.

This allows us to drop the glibc internal `_dl_get_tls_static_info` and
`InitTlsSize` entirely. Use the simplified method with non-Android Linux for
now, but in theory this can be used with *BSD and potentially other ELF OSes.

This simplification enables D99566 for TLS Variant I architectures.

Matt Morehouse f85002d22c [sanitizer] Implement MapDynamicShadowAndAliases.
The function works like MapDynamicShadow, except that it creates aliased
memory to the right of the shadow.  The main use case is for HWASan
aliasing mode, which gets fast IsAlias() checks by exploiting the fact
that the upper bits of the shadow base and aliased memory match.

Vitaly Buka f5e6182ce6 [sanitizer][NFC] Remove InternalScopedString::size()
size() is inconsistent with length().
In most size() use cases we can replace InternalScopedString with
InternalMmapVector.

Remove non-constant data() to avoid direct manipulations of internal
buffer. append() should be enought to modify InternalScopedString.

Add support for the new crash reporter api if the headers are available. Falls back to the old API if they are not available. This change was based on [[ 0164d546d2/llvm/lib/Support/PrettyStackTrace.cpp (L111) | /llvm/lib/Support/PrettyStackTrace.cpp ]]

There is a lit for this behavior here: https://reviews.llvm.org/D96737 but is not included in this diff because it is potentially flaky.

Julian Lettner 84de4faf4c GetMacosAlignedVersion() fails if sysctl is not setup
`GetMacosAlignedVersion()` fails for ASan-ified launchd because the
sanitizer initialization code runs before `sysctl` has been setup by
launchd.  In this situation, `sysctl kern.osproductversion` returns a
non-empty string that does not match our expectations of a
well-formatted version string.

Retrieving the kernel version (via `sysctl kern.osrelease`) still works,
so we can use it to add a fallback for this corner case.

Kuba Mracek f276c00898 [sanitizer] Restrict querying VM size on Darwin only to iOS devices
We currently do this for SANITIZER_IOS, which includes devices *and* simulators. This change opts out the check for simulators to unify the behavior with macOS, because VM size is really a property of the host OS, and not the simulator.

Teresa Johnson 31bc55d602 [sanitizer] Convert PrintModuleMap to DumpProcessMap
As discussed in the review for D87120 (specifically at
https://reviews.llvm.org/D87120#inline-831939), clean up PrintModuleMap
and DumpProcessMap usage differences. The former is only implemented for
Mac OSX, whereas the latter is implemented for all OSes. The former is
called by asan and tsan, and the latter by hwasan and now memprof, under
the same option. Simply rename the PrintModuleMap implementation for Mac
to DumpProcessMap, remove other empty PrintModuleMap implementations,
and convert asan/tsan to new name. The existing posix DumpProcessMap is
disabled for SANITIZER_MAC.

Peter Collingbourne 9f8c4039f2 sanitizer_common: Introduce internal_madvise and start using it.
A recent change to sanitizer_common caused us to issue the syscall
madvise(MADV_HUGEPAGE) during HWASAN initialization. This may lead to a
problem if madvise is instrumented (e.g. because libc is instrumented
or the user intercepted it). For example, on Android the syscall may
fail if the kernel does not support transparent hugepages, which leads
to an attempt to set errno in a HWASAN instrumented function. Avoid
this problem by introducing a syscall wrapper and using it to issue
this syscall.

Tested only on Linux; includes untested updates for the other
platforms.

Julian Lettner 43bf902c2e [compiler-rt][Darwin] Fix GetOSMajorKernelOffset() on watchOS
`TARGET_OS_IOS` and `TARGET_OS_WATCH` are not mutually exclusive.
`SANITIZER_IOS` is defined for all embedded platforms.  So the branch
for watchOS is never taken.  We could fix this by switching the order
of the branches (but the reason for doing so is non-obvious).  Instead,
lets use the Darwin-specific `TARGET_OS_*` macros which are mutually
exclusive.

Julian Lettner 44e7d44997 [Darwin][compiler-rt] kern.osproductversion unavailable pre macOS 10.13
Add a fallback for `sysctl kern.osproductversion` for XNU 17 (macOS
10.13) and below, which do not provide this property.

Unfortunately, this means we have to take the detour via Darwin kernel
version again (at least for the fallback).

triggers EXC_GUARD exceptions on macOS 10.15+ (XNU 19.0+).  Let's
