Chaoren Lin 46951b5968 Use only unnamed pipes to launch lldb-server gdbserver.
Summary:
If we used unnamed pipes instead of named pipes, we can avoid having the
file system littered with debugserver-named-pipes if lldb-server happens to
crash for whatever reason. Also, on some buggy systems, it's possible to be
able to create but not to delete a fifo. Ideally, support for unnamed pipes
should be added to debugserver as well, so we can avoid the `#ifdef` here.

Greg Clayton 0d5b0a8a78 Centralize where we update the source file contents in SourceManager::GetFile() in case APIs are called that don't update the source.
The following functions were the only functions that updates the source file:

SourceManager::File::DisplaySourceLines()
SourceManager::File::FindLinesMatchingRegex()    

But there we API calls that were using the SourceManager::File and asking it questions, like "is line 12 valid" and that might respond incorrectly if the source file had been updated.

Pavel Labath 6e4f19d440 [LLGS] Spawned process handling cleanup
Summary:
This commit moves the m_spawned_pids member from the common LLGS/Platform class to the plaform
specific part. This enables us to remove LLGS code, which was attempting to manage the
m_spawned_pids contents, but at the same time making sure, there is only one debugged process. If
we ever want to do multi-process debugging, we will probably want to replace this with a set of
NativeProcessProtocolSP anyway. The only functional change is that support for
qKillSpawnedProcess packet is removed from LLGS, but this was not used there anyway (we have the
k packet for that).

Jason Molenda 752e1e833b When debugserver fails to attach to a process on a Darwin
system, make a couple of additional checks to see if the
attach was denied via the System Integrity Protection that
is new in Mac OS X 10.11.  If so, return a special E87
error code to indicate this to lldb.

Up in lldb, if we receive the E87 error code, be specific
about why the attach failed.

Also detect the more common case of general attach failure
and print a better error message than "lost connection".

I believe this code will all build on Mac OS X 10.10 systems.
It may not compile or run on earlier versions of the OS.
None of this should build on other non-darwin systems.

Jason Molenda 6ab659a922 First part of an attempt to indicate to the user when they are
debugging optimized code.  Adds new methods on Function/SBFunction
to query whether a given function is optimized.  Adds a new
function.is-optimized format entity and changes the default 
frame-format to append "[opt]" if the function was built with
optimization.

The only indication that a binary was built with optimization
that we have right now is the presence of the DW_AT_APPLE_optimized
attribute (DW_FORM_flag value 1) in the DW_TAG_compile_unit.
The absence of this flag may mean that the compile_unit was not
compiled with optimization, or it may mean that the producer 
does not generate this attribute.

Currently this only works for dSYM debugging.  When we create
the CompileUnit with dwarf-in-.o-file debugging we don't have
the attribute value yet so it's not set.  I need to find the
flag value when we do start to read the .o file DWARF and 
set the CompileUnit's status at that point - but haven't 
done it yet.

I'm also going to add a mechanism for issuing warnings to users
such that they're only issued once in a debug session and 
there is away for users to suppress these warnings altogether
via .lldbinit file settings.  But I want to get this changeset
committed now that it's at a useful state.

Jim Ingham ff244c1d97 Lock the owners mutex in the BreakpointSite before updating the hit
counts.  If you delete a breakpoint belonging to a site just as you are
processing a hit on that site, you could cause the BreakpointSite loop to
access a now deleted location.

The removal of in-process Linux debug support left a switch statement
with llvm::Triple::FreeBSD as the only case. Simplify by replacing it
with a now-equivalent assertion.

Pavel Labath 424b201df7 [LLGS] Avoid bogus error message on process termination
Summary:
Handle_k was printing an error when killing a process because KillSpawnedProcess was expecting to
be asynchronously notified of the process death, which no longer works, since we don't wait for
the process on a separate thread. However, the whole usage of KillSpawnedProcess is dubious here,
since it tries to be nice and terminate the process first with SIGTERM, which will not have the
intended effect on a ptraced process. I replace this code with a call to
NativeProcessProtocol::Kill, which does not suffer from these problems.

Jason Molenda 08a3258bd8 Add some initial logging for when lldb is searching for binaries,
dSYMs, or reading binaries out of memory to the 'Host' log channel.
There's more to be done here, both for Mac and for other platforms,
but the initial set of new loggings are useful enough to check in
at this point.

Dawn Perchik 15663c530e Specify a language to use when parsing expressions.

Siva Chandra d26eb907bc Add option eTypeOptionHideEmptyAggregates.
Summary:
For certain data structures, when the synthetic child provider returns
zero children, a summary like "Empty instance of <typename>" could be
more appropriate than something like "size=0 {}". This new option helps
hide the trailing "{}".

This is also exposed with a -h option for the command "type summary add".

Pavel Labath f8b5874b63 Revert "Fix an issue where LLDB would run out of stack space ..."
This commit introduced an infinite recursion in
ValueObjectChild::CanUpdateWithInvalidExecutionContext (because FollowParentChain also considers
the current object), which broke nearly all the tests. Ignoring the current object removes the
recursion, but two tests still time out (TestDataFormatterLibcxxList.py and
TestValueObjectRecursion.py) for some reason. Reverting for now.

Tamas Berghammer 5aa27e1acc Improve C++ function name handling and step-in avoid regerxp handling
If the function is a template then the return type is part of the
function name. This CL fixes the parsing of these function names in
the case when the return type contains ':'.

The name of free functions in C++ don't have context part. Fix the
logic geting the function name without arguments out from a full
function name to handle this case.

Change the handling of step-in-avoid-regexp to match the value against
the function name without it's arguments and return value. This is
required because the default regex ("^std::") would match any template
function returning an std object.

Enrico Granata 636cd262d6 Fix an issue where LLDB would run out of stack space trying to decide if a deeply nested child can be updated in the face of an invalid execution context
The issue is that a child can't really ask the root object, since this decision could actually hinge on whether a dynamic and/or synthetic value is present
To do this, make values vote lazily for whether they are willing to allow this, so that we can navigate up the chain without recursively invoking ourselves

Jim Ingham 9b03fa0c69 Most thread plans don't handle eStopReasonInstrumentation stop reasons,
but that wasn't added to the list of reasons they don't explain.  That
would mean we keep stepping after hitting the AsanDie breakpoint rather
than stopping when the Asan event occurred.

Pavel Labath 162fb8e8ab Speed up NativeProcessLinux::GetLoadedModuleFileSpec
Summary:
GetLoadedModuleFileSpec was reading /proc/pid/maps character by character, which was very slow,
since we do that for every shared library, which android tends to have a lot. Switching to
ProcFileReader saves us about 0.4 seconds in attach time.

Greg Clayton 38e874e487 Fix TestReturnValue.py after 242903 changes that added vector register return value tests. These were failing on x86_64 and i386.
It also pointed out an error in our return values where the ABI only relies on xmm registers, not ymm registers for vector return types.

Greg Clayton 5115bf8e73 Improve the performance of DWARFDebugInfo::GetCompileUnitContainingDIE() by using a binary search.
Also switched DWARFDebugInfo::GetCompileUnit() over to using the same kind of binary search instead of using bsearch().

Dawn Perchik 23b1decbe7 Add support for specifying a language to use when parsing breakpoints.
Target and breakpoints options were added:
    breakpoint set --language lang --name func
    settings set target.language pascal
These specify the Language to use when interpreting the breakpoint's
expression (note: currently only implemented for breakpoints on
identifiers).  If the breakpoint language is not set, the target.language
setting is used.
This support is required by Pascal, for example, to set breakpoint at 'ns.foo'
for function 'foo' in namespace 'ns'.
Tests on the language were also added to Module::PrepareForFunctionNameLookup
for efficiency.

Pavel Labath 19cbe96a45 [NativeProcessLinux] Integrate MainLoop
Summary:
This commit integrates MainLoop into NativeProcessLinux. By registering a SIGCHLD handler with
the llgs main loop, we can get rid of the special monitor thread in NPL, which saves as a lot of
thread ping-pong when responding to client requests (e.g. qThreadInfo processing time has been
reduced by about 40%). It also makes the code simpler, IMHO.

Pavel Labath c7749c3acd [LLGS] Get rid of the stdio forwarding thread
Summary:
This commit removes the stdio forwarding thread in lldb-server in favor of a MainLoop callback.
As in some situations we need to forcibly flush the stream ( => Read() is called from multiple
places) and we still have multiple threads, I have had to additionally protect the communication
instance with a mutex.

Pavel Labath 9f0701f8ca Add Pipe::WriteWithTimeout method
Summary:
This commit adds a WriteWithTimeout method to time Pipe class, analogous to the existing
ReadWithTimeout(). It also changes the meaning of passing zero as a timeout value. Previously,
zero was used as an infinite timeout value. Now, the meaning of zero timeout to return the data
avaiable without sleeping (basically, a non-blocking operation). This makes the behaviour of Pipe
consistent with the Communication/Connection classes. For blocking operatios with infinite
timeout, I introduce a special constant for this purpose.

This will fail if the Python interpreter does not hold a valid thread state. So, acquire one, delete the session dictionary, and then let go of it on destruction

Greg Clayton 1f982c2d22 Correctly get the arguments and environment, even for processes that have a large amount or arguments and/or environment variables.
We previously passed in a 8192 byte buffer but this wasn't large enough. We now calculate the size we need and then add 128 to it and get the environment. If we pass exactly the number of bytes it says is needs, the sysctl() returns junk. Adding 1 seemed to do the trick, but to err on the side of caution, I added a few bytes more.

Greg Clayton 2e309076f2 More packet performance improvements.
Changed the "jthreads" key/value in the stop reply packets to be "jstopinfo". This JSON only contains threads with valid stop reasons and allows us not to have to ask about other threads via qThreadStopInfo when we are stepping. The "jstopinfo" only gets sent if there are more than one thread since the stop reply packet contains all the info needed for a single thread.

Added a Process::WillPublicStop() in case process subclasses want to do any extra gathering for public stops. For ProcessGDBRemote, we end up sending a jThreadsInfo packet to gather all expedited registers, expedited memory and MacOSX queue information. We only do this for public stops to minimize the packets we send when we have multiple private stops. Multiple private stops happen when a source level single step, step into or step out run the process multiple times while implementing the stepping, and none of these private stops make it out to the UI via notifications because they are private stops.

Pavel Labath e4fc4ef463 [LLGS] Limit jThreadsInfo to only the most important registers for now
Summary:
It seems that reading of register data is the biggest bottleneck in LLGS at the moment. Sending
four registers instead of the full GPR set increases the jThreadsInfo processing time about
6-fold. Until we figure out where is this time going, this commit limits the amount of data we
send to provide a more fluid debugging experience.

Pavel Labath f3898c30e6 [MainLoop] Fix assertion failure
Upon connection termination the waitable handle of an IOObject gets reset to an invalid handle.
This caused a problem since we used the object->GetWaitableHandle as a key to the set of
registered events. The fix is to use something more immutable as a key: we make a copy of the
original waitable handle, instead of holding onto the IOObject.

Greg Clayton a5801ade5a Added the ability to get JSON thread stop info with thread ID and stop info only in the normal stop reply packets using the new "jthreads" key value pair.
This allows stepping operations that don't ever do a public stop to get all the info they need without having to send a jThreadsInfo packet since those tend to be large.

This patch will be followed by a patch that will detect when we do a public stop, and when that happens we will send a jThreadsInfo packet at that time to get all expedited registers and memory.

the llgs main loop, we can get rid of the special monitor thread in NPL, which saves as a lot of

reduced by about 40%). It also makes the code simpler, IMHO.

Ewan Crawford 90ff791141 Expression evaluation, a new ThreadPlanCallFunctionUsingABI for executing a function call on target via register manipulation
For Hexagon we want to be able to call functions during debugging, however currently lldb only supports this when there is JIT support. 
Although emulation using IR interpretation is an alternative, it is currently limited in that it can't make function calls.

In this patch we have extended the IR interpreter so that it can execute a function call on the target using register manipulation. 
To do this we need to handle the Call IR instruction, passing arguments to a new thread plan and collecting any return values to pass back into the IR interpreter. 

The new thread plan is needed to call an alternative ABI interface of "ABI::PerpareTrivialCall()", allowing more detailed information about arguments and return values.

Kate Stone ea671fbdff Fixed line wrapping for the "long help" content in LLDB commands. Content is now dynamically wrapped for the column width of the current terminal. Lines that begin with whitespace will be indented identically on subsequent lines to maintain formatting.
Existing commands supplying this type of help content have been reworked to take advantage of the changes.  In addition to formatting changes, content was changes for accuracy and clarity purposes.

Pavel Labath b6fddcd735 Avoid dependency on uuid.h in MacOSXDYLD
Summary:
r241964 has added a dependency on uuid.h, which (on linux at least) necessitates instalation of a
new package. Since the only thing we need from that file is uuid_t (and this is already defined
in UuidCompatibility.h), we can avoid this dependency by making this include __APPLE__ specific.
If in future, we need more from this library, we can revisit this decision.

Pavel Labath 77dc9569c6 Introduce a MainLoop class and switch llgs to use it
Summary:
This is the first part of our effort to make llgs single threaded. Currently, llgs consists of
about three threads and the synchronisation between them is a major source of latency when
debugging linux and android applications.

In order to be able to go single threaded, we must have the ability to listen for events from
multiple sources (primarily, client commands coming over the network and debug events from the
inferior) and perform necessary actions. For this reason I introduce the concept of a MainLoop.
A main loop has the ability to register callback's which will be invoked upon receipt of certain
events. MainLoopPosix has the ability to listen for file descriptors and signals.

For the moment, I have merely made the GDBRemoteCommunicationServerLLGS class use MainLoop
instead of waiting on the network socket directly, but the other threads still remain. In the
followup patches I indend to migrate NativeProcessLinux to this class and remove the remaining
threads.

On Android the oatdata and the oatexec symbols in
system@framework@boot.oat covers the full .text section what causes
issues with displaying unusable symbol name to the user and very slow
unwinding speed because the instruction emulation based unwind plans
try to emulate all instructions in these symbols. Don't add these
symbols to the symbol list as they have no use for the debugger and
they are causing a lot of trouble.

Jason Molenda 20ee21bde6 Add a another packet to the gdb-remote protocol,
jGetLoadedDynamicLibrariesInfos.  This packet is similar to
qXfer:libraries:read except that lldb supplies the number of solibs
that should be reported about, and the start address for the list
of them.  At the initial process launch we'll read the full list
of solibs linked by the process -- at this point we could be using
qXfer:libraries:read -- but on subsequence solib-loaded notifications,
we'll be fetching a smaller number of solibs, often only one or two.

A typical Mac/iOS GUI app may have a couple hundred different 
solibs loaded  - doing all of the loads via memory reads takes 
a couple of megabytes of traffic between lldb and debugserver.
Having debugserver summarize the load addresses of all the solibs
and sending it in JSON requires a couple of hundred kilobytes
of traffic.  It's a significant performance improvement when 
communicating over a slower channel.

This patch leaves all of the logic for loading the libraries
in DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD -- it only call over ot ProcesGDBRemote
to get the JSON result.

If the jGetLoadedDynamicLibrariesInfos packet is not implemented,
the normal technique of using memory read packets to get all of
the details from the target will be used.

Pavel Labath d5b310f2a3 Avoid going through Platform when creating a NativeProcessProtocol instance
Summary:
This commit avoids the Platform instance when spawning or attaching to a process in lldb-server.
Instead, I have the server call a (static) method of NativeProcessProtocol directly. The reason
for this is that I believe that NativeProcessProtocol should be decoupled from the Platform
(after all, it always knows which platform it is running on, unlike the rest of lldb).
Additionally, the kind of platform actions a NativeProcessProtocol instance is likely to differ
greatly from the platform actions of the lldb client, so I think the separation makes sense.

After this, the only dependency NativeProcessLinux has on PlatformLinux is the ResolveExecutable
method, which needs additional refactoring.

This is a resubmit of r241672, after it was reverted due to build failueres on non-linux
platforms.

Pavel Labath 89ad594075 Fix TestStopHookMultipleThreads and TestNamespace after r241751
The mentioned commit introduced a subtle change in behavior when printing variable names. This
occured when we have a variable, for which we only know the demangled name, because the compiler
has failed to provide one (this typically happens for variables in anonymous namespaces). A
Mangled class which contains only a demangled name considers itself to be invalid (this could
possibly be a bug), but it's GetName() method still returns a valid demangled name. The previous
commit introduced the check for the validity of the class, and if it failed, it would fall back
to printing the bare name (without the namespace prefixes, as the tests were expecting). I revert
this part of the commit and check the validity of the string returned by GetName() instead.

This commit moves the Windows DyanamicLoader to the common DynamicLoader
directory. This is required to remote debug Windows targets.

Sean Callanan 83b8ad0eaa Fixed a serious bug in DeportType where the types could retain DeclContexts that
pointed into the artificial function constructed for the expression.  I now make
anything that pointed to the function as its DeclContext be global while the
copy occurs; afterward I restored the old DeclContext.

Added a testcase that make sure that this works properly and doesn't crash
anything.

Pavel Labath 235c8405eb Avoid going through Platform when creating a NativeProcessProtocol instance
Summary:
This commit avoids the Platform instance when spawning or attaching to a process in lldb-server.
Instead, I have the server call a (static) method of NativeProcessProtocol directly. The reason
for this is that I believe that NativeProcessProtocol should be decoupled from the Platform
(after all, it always knows which platform it is running on, unlike the rest of lldb).
Additionally, the kind of platform actions a NativeProcessProtocol instance is likely to differ
greatly from the platform actions of the lldb client, so I think the separation makes sense.

After this, the only dependency NativeProcessLinux has on PlatformLinux is the ResolveExecutable
method, which needs additional refactoring.

Sean Callanan 007135e612 Fixed the C modules test case on Darwin by streamlining its code.
We don't need to do the fancy dance with checking whether the iterator
represents a #define -- in fact, that's the wrong thing to do.  The thing to do
is check whether the highest-priority module that did something to the module
#defined or #undefd it.  If it #defined it, then the MacroInfo* will be non-NULL
and we're good to go.

Greg Clayton 98424c4460 Make the "lldb/Utility/JSON.h" able to parse JSON into tokens with the new JSONParser class.
Change over existing code to use this new parser so StructuredData can use the tokenizer to parse JSON instead of doing it manually.

This allowed us to easily parse JSON into JSON* objects as well as into StructuredData.

Enrico Granata c1f705c229 Add a GetDisplayName() API to SBFrame, SBFunction and SBSymbol
This API is currently a no-op (in the sense that it has the same behavior as the already existing GetName()), but is meant long-term to provide a best-for-visualization version of the name of a function

It is still not hooked up to the command line 'bt' command, nor to the 'gui' mode, but I do have ideas on how to make that work going forward

Tamas Berghammer 8d53464472 Improve UnwindLLDB with better detection for unwinding failures
Previously we accepted a frame as correct result if the PC pointed
into an executable section of code. The isse with that approac is
that if we calculated PC correctly but messed up the value of CFA
then unwinding from the next fram will most likely fail.

With this change I modify the logic with keeping the requirement
for PC to point to an executable section and also check that we can
continue the unwind from the frame we calculated. If continuing from
the frame calculated with the primary unwind plan isn't working then
fall back to the fallback plan with the hope for a better frame (if
the fallback plan won't help then we acceot the frame from the
primary plan).

Greg Clayton d6171a74f0 Make sure we can lookup re-exported symbols after recent changes to lldb_private::Symbol.
Recently lldb_private::Symbol was changed so the old code:

Address &Symbol::GetAddress();

Is now:

Address Symbol::GetAddress();

And the Address object that is returned will be invalid for non-address based symbols. When we have re-exported symbols this code would now fail:

    const Address sym_address = sym_ctx.symbol->GetAddress();

    if (!sym_address.IsValid())
        continue;

    symbol_load_addr = sym_ctx.symbol->ResolveCallableAddress(*target_sp);

    if (symbol_load_addr == LLDB_INVALID_ADDRESS)
    {
        symbol_load_addr = sym_address.GetLoadAddress(target_sp.get());
    }

It used to return an Address reference to the value of the re-exported symbol that contained no section and a zero value for Address.m_offset (since the original symbol in the symbol table had a value of zero). When a reference was returned, this meant the "sym_address.IsValid()" would return true because the Address.m_offset was not LLDB_INVALID_ADDRESS, it was zero. This was working by mistake.

The Symbol::ResolveCallableAddress(...) actually checks for reexported symbols and whole bunch of other cases and resolves the address correctly, so we should let it do its thing and not cut it off before it can resolve the address with the "if (!sym_address.IsValid()) continue;".

Enrico Granata d4cb1dddeb When I introduced hard-coded formatters, I made them non-cacheable
This is because - in theory - the formatter could match on not just the type, but also other properties of a ValueObject, so a per-type caching would not be a good thing
On the other hand, that is not always true - sometimes the matching truly is per-type

So, introduce a non-cacheable attribute on formatters that decides whether a formatter should or should not be cached. That way, the few formatters that don't want themselves cached can do so, but most formatters (including most hard-coded ones) can cache themselves just fine

Summary:
This changes PtraceWrapper to return an Error, while the actual result is in an pointer parameter
(instead of the other way around). Also made a couple of PtraceWrapper arguments default to zero.
This arrangement makes a lot of the code much simpler.

Test Plan: Tests pass on linux. It compiles on android arm64/mips64.

These instructions confusing the unwind code because in case of a
push it assumes that the original valu of a register is pushed to
the stack what is not neccessarily true in case of SP. The same is

- Avoid sending the qfThreadInfo, qsThreadInfo packets if we have a stop reply packet with the threads already (save 2 round trip packets)
- Include the qname, qserial and qkind in the JSON info
- Report the qname, qserial and qkind to the thread so it can cache it to avoid many packets on MacOSX and iOS
- Don't clear all discoverable settings when we exec, just the ones we need to saves 1-5 packets for each exec.

Greg Clayton 58c65f0243 Avoid a recursive function call that could run LLDB out of file descriptors in FileSystem::DeleteDirectory(...).
Fixes include:
- use FileSystem::Unlink() instead of a direct call to ::unlink(...) when deleting files when iterating through the current directory
- save directories from current directory in a list and iterate through those _after_ the current directory has been iterated
- Use new FileSpec::ForEachItemInDirectory() instead of manually iterating across directories with opendir()/readdir()/closedir()

We should switch all code over to using FileSpec::ForEachItemInDirectory(...) in the near future and get rid of FileSpec::EnumerateDirectory().

Pavel Labath 33b51e87e1 [linux] Use cmake to detect support process_vm_readv (bug #23918)
Summary:
Some old linux versions do not have process_vm_readv function defined. Even older versions do not
have even the __NR_process_vm_readv syscall number. We use cmake to detect these situations and
fallback appropriately: in the first case, we can issue the syscall manually, while it the latter
case, we need to drop fast memory read support completely.

Pavel Labath c7512fdc1e [NativeProcessLinux] Use lambdas in DoOperation calls
Summary:
This removes a lot of boilerplate, which was needed to execute monitor operations. Previously one
needed do declare a separate class for each operation which would manually capture all needed
arguments, which was very verbose. In addition to less code, I believe this also makes the code
more readable, since now the implementation of the operation can be physically closer to the code
that invokes it.

Test Plan: Code compiles on x86, arm and mips, tests pass on x86 linux.

Greg Clayton 358cf1ea30 Resubmitting 240466 after fixing the linux test suite failures.
A few extras were fixed

- Symbol::GetAddress() now returns an Address object, not a reference. There were places where people were accessing the address of a symbol when the symbol's value wasn't an address symbol. On MacOSX, undefined symbols have a value zero and some places where using the symbol's address and getting an absolute address of zero (since an Address object with no section and an m_offset whose value isn't LLDB_INVALID_ADDRESS is considered an absolute address). So fixing this required some changes to make sure people were getting what they expected. 
- Since some places want to access the address as a reference, I added a few new functions to symbol:
    Address &Symbol::GetAddressRef();
    const Address &Symbol::GetAddressRef() const;

Linux test suite passes just fine now.

Enrico Granata 2d061e20f6 Fix a bug where we were trying to reconstruct ivars of ObjC types from the runtime in "expression parser mode"
The expression parser mode allows UnknownAnyTy to make it all the way through, but that is bad for ivars because it means type layout fails horribly (as in, clang crashes)

This patch fixes the issue by using the "variables view mode", which masks UnknownAnyTy as empty-type, and pointer-to UnknownAnyTy as void*

This, in turn, allows LLDB to properly reconstruct ivars of IMP type in ObjC type - as per accompanying test case

Ed Maste 0ded6293c7 Remove SetResumeState from POSIXThread::RefreshStateAfterStop
With the removal of ProcessLinux in r240543 this code is used only on
FreeBSD. FreeBSD isn't affected by whichever issue originally prompted
the addition of SetResumeState, so just remove it.

As discussed on the mailing list (and mentioned in a FIXME comment)
it shouldn't be called there.

Pavel Labath b36f917854 Remove old local-only linux debugging code
Summary:
Currently, the local-only path fails about 50% of the tests, which means that: a) nobody is using
it; and b) the remote debugging path is much more stable. This commit removes the local-only
linux debugging code (ProcessLinux) and makes remote-loopback the only way to debug local
applications (the same architecture as OSX). The ProcessPOSIX code is moved to the FreeBSD
directory, which is now the only user of this class. Hopefully, FreeBSD will soon move to the new
architecture as well and then this code can be removed completely.

Test Plan: Test suite passes via remote stub.

* Add and fix the emulation of several instruction.
* Disable frame pointer usage on Android.
* Specify return address register for the unwind plan instead of explict
  tracking the value of RA.
* Replace prologue detection heuristics (unreliable in several cases)
  with a logic to follow the branch instructions and restore the CFI
  value based on them. The target address for a branch should have the
  same CFI as the source address (if they are in the same function).
* Handle symbols in ELF files where the symbol size is not specified
  with calcualting their size based on the next symbol (already done
  in MachO files).
* Fix architecture in FuncUnwinders with filling up the inforamtion
  missing from the object file with the architecture of the target.
* Add code to read register wehn the value is set to "IsSame" as it
  meanse the value of a register in the parent frame is the same as the
  value in the current frame.

Greg Clayton 0b90be1c4f Implement the "qSymbol" packet in order to be able to read queue information in debugserver and return the info in the stop reply packets.
A "qSymbol::" is sent when shared libraries have been loaded by hooking into the Process::ModulesDidLoad() function from within ProcessGDBRemote. This function was made virtual so that the ProcessGDBRemote version is called, which then first calls the Process::ModulesDidLoad(), and then it queries for any symbol lookups that the remote GDB server might want to do.

This allows debugserver to request the "dispatch_queue_offsets" symbol so that it can read the queue name, queue kind and queue serial number and include this data as part of the stop reply packet. Previously each thread would have to do 3 memory reads in order to read the queue name.

This is part of reducing the number of packets that are sent between LLDB and the remote GDB server.

Jim Ingham 60c915e96a Fix the handling of the run lock in cases where you needed to run
a hand-called function from the private state thread.  The problem 
was that on the way out of the private state thread, we try to drop
the run lock.  That is appropriate for the main private state thread,
but not the secondary private state thread.  Only the thread that 
spawned them can know whether this is an appropriate thing to do or
not.

Ewan Crawford 76df2881ba Add handling of async notify packets
This patch adds a listener to the AynscThread in ProcessGDBRemote, specifically for dealing with any async notification packets.

From the broadcast our listener receives we can process the notify packet from the event data. A handler function then sets the thread stop info from this packet, and updates lldb by setting the process private state to stopped. Allowing the async thread to go back to sleep and getting the main thread to handle the implications of a state change.

When sending a vCont in nonstop mode we also get a different reply from all-stop mode, an OK response as opposed to a stop reply. So a condition is added to handle this and set the process state without the stop-reply data.

Greg Clayton ffb2d44ab9 Reduced packet counts to the remote GDB server where possible.
We have been working on reducing the packet count that is sent between LLDB and the debugserver on MacOSX and iOS. Our approach to this was to reduce the packets required when debugging multiple threads. We currently make one qThreadStopInfoXXXX call (where XXXX is the thread ID in hex) per thread except the thread that stopped with a stop reply packet. In order to implement multiple thread infos in a single reply, we need to use structured data, which means JSON. The new jThreadsInfo packet will attempt to retrieve all thread infos in a single packet. The data is very similar to the stop reply packets, but packaged in JSON and uses JSON arrays where applicable. The JSON output looks like:

It contains an array of dicitionaries with all of the key value pairs that are normally in the stop reply packet. Including the expedited registers. Notice that is also contains expedited memory in the "memory" key. Any values in this memory will get included in a new L1 cache in lldb_private::Process where if a memory read request is made and that memory request fits into one of the L1 memory cache blocks, it will use that memory data. If a memory request fails in the L1 cache, it will fall back to the L2 cache which is the same block sized caching we were using before these changes. This allows a process to expedite memory that you are likely to use and it reduces packet count. On MacOSX with debugserver, we expedite the frame pointer backchain for a thread (up to 256 entries) by reading 2 pointers worth of bytes at the frame pointer (for the previous FP and PC), and follow the backchain. Most backtraces on MacOSX and iOS now don't require us to read any memory!

We will try these packets out and if successful, we should port these to lldb-server in the near future.

Greg Clayton 7d1483f51c Cleanup the code a bit to make it more readable.
Add some if/then to avoid calling a function to get dynamic/synthetic types if we know we aren't going to need to call it.

Avoid calling a function that returns a shared pointer twice: once for testing it and once for assigning it (even though that shared pointer is cached inside the value object), it just makes the code a bit clearer.

Jason Molenda 91ffe0a570 Add a new wart, I mean feature, on to gdb-remote protocol: compression.
For some communication channels, sending large packets can be very 
slow.  In those cases, it may be faster to compress the contents of
the packet on the target device and decompress it on the debug host
system.  For instance, communicating with a device using something
like Bluetooth may be an environment where this tradeoff is a good one.

This patch adds a new field to the response to the "qSupported" packet
(which returns a "qXfer:features:" response) -- SupportedCompressions
and DefaultCompressionMinSize.  These tell you what the remote
stub can support.

lldb, if it wants to enable compression and can handle one of those 
algorithms, it can send a QEnableCompression packet specifying the
algorithm and optionally the minimum packet size to use compression
on.  lldb may have better knowledge about the best tradeoff for
a given communication channel.

I added support to debugserver an lldb to use the zlib APIs
(if -DHAVE_LIBZ=1 is in CFLAGS and -lz is in LDFLAGS) and the
libcompression APIs on Mac OS X 10.11 and later 
(if -DHAVE_LIBCOMPRESSION=1).  libz "zlib-deflate" compression.
libcompression can support deflate, lz4, lzma, and a proprietary
lzfse algorithm.  libcompression has been hand-tuned for Apple
hardware so it should be preferred if available.

debugserver currently only adds the SupportedCompressions when
it is being run on an Apple watch (TARGET_OS_WATCH).  Comment
that #if out from RNBRemote.cpp if you want to enable it to
see how it works.  I haven't tested this on a native system
configuration but surely it will be slower to compress & decompress
the packets in a same-system debug session.

I haven't had a chance to add support for this to 
GDBRemoteCommunciationServer.cpp yet.

Pavel Labath df7c69952b [NativeProcessLinux] Use fast memory reads, if the system supports it
Summary:
Memory reads using the ptrace API need to be executed on a designated thread
and in 4-byte increments. The process_vm_read syscall has no such requirements
and it is about 50 times faster. This patch makes lldb-server use the faster
API if the target kernel supports it. Kernel support for this feature is
determined at runtime. Using process_vm_writev in the same manner is more
complicated since this syscall (unlike ptrace) respects page protection settings
and so it cannot be used to set a breakpoint, since code pages are typically
read-only. However, memory writes are not currently a performance bottleneck as
they happen much more rarely.

Test Plan: all tests continue to pass

Because vector types use their formats in special ways (i.e. children get generated based on them), this change by itself would cause a regression in printing vector types with some custom formats
Work around that issue by special casing vector types out of this format-passdown mode. I believe there is a more general feature to be designed in this space, but until I see more cases of interest, I am going to leave this as a special case

Ewan Crawford fab40d3911 Add Read Thread to GDBRemoteCommunication
In order to support asynchronous notifications for non-stop mode this patch adds a packet read thread. This is done by implementing AppendBytesToCache() from the communications class, which continually reads packets into a packet queue. To initialize this thread StartReadThread() must be called by the client, so since llgs and platform tools use the GBDRemoteCommunicatos code they must also call this function as well as ProcessGDBRemote.

When the read thread detects an async notify packet it broadcasts this event, where the matching listener will be added in the next non-stop patch.

Packets are now accessed by calling ReadPacket() which pops a packet from the queue, instead of using WaitForPacketWithTimeoutMicroSecondsNoLock()

Greg Clayton 49e9010ca3 Found an issue that was causing types to be completed much more often than they needed to be.
The problem is for lldb_private::Type instances that have encoding types (pointer/reference/const/volatile/restrict/typedef to type with user ID 0x123). If they started out with m_flags.clang_type_resolve_state being set to eResolveStateUnresolved (0), then when we would call Type::ResolveClangType(eResolveStateForward) we would complete the full type due to logic errors in the code. 

We now only complete the type if clang_type_resolve_state is eResolveStateLayout or eResolveStateFull and we correctly upgrade the type's current completion state to eResolveStateForward after we make a forward delcaration to the pointer/reference/const/volatile/restrict/typedef type instead of leaving it set to eResolveStateUnresolved.

Ed Maste f6a1312f1b Improve OSType initialization in elf object file's arch_spec
Setting the OSType in the ArchSpec triple is needed to correctly setup
up the register context plugin. ArchSpec::SetArchitecture, for Mach-O
only, sets the OSType. For ELF it was left to the ObjectFileELF to fill
in the missing OSType.

This change moves the ObjectFileELF logic into ArchSpec.

A new optional 'os' parameter has been added to SetArchitecture.
For ELF, this value is the from the ELF header.e_ident[EI_OSABI].
The default value is 0 or ELFOSABI_NONE.

The real work of determining the OSType was done by the ObjectFileELF
helper function GetOsFromOSABI. This logic has been moved
SetArchitecture.

GetOsFromOSABI has been commented as being deprectated.  It is left in
to support asserts.

For ELF the vendor value returned from SetArchitecture should be
UnknownVendor.  An unneeded resetting in ObjectFileELF has been removed
and replaced with an assert.

This fixes a problem reading a core file on FreeBSD/ARM because the spec
triple was arm-unknown-unknown.

Greg Clayton b2e0c11982 Fixed "format-string" based settings so they can have quotes on them without leaving the quotes in the format string:

We strip the quotes before processing the format string and return an "error: mismatched quotes" if mismatched quotes are given.

Greg Clayton 81e2b6bbe7 Fix a race condition where 2 threads might try to call Process::SetExitStatus() at the same time.
The problem was the mutex was only protecting the setting of m_exit_string and m_exit_string, but this function relies on the m_private_state being set to eStateExited in order to prevent more than 1 client setting the exit status. We want to only allow the first caller to succeed.

On MacOSX we have a thread that reaps the process we are debugging, and we also have a thread that monitors the debugserver process. When a process exists, the ProcessGDBRemote::AsyncThread() would set the exit status to the correct value and then another thread would reap the debugserver process and they would often both end up in Process::SetExitStatus() at the same time. With the mutex at the top we allow all variables to be set and the m_private_state to be set to eStateExited _before_ the other thread (debugserver reaped) can try to set th exist status to -1 and "lost connection to debugserver" being set as the exit status.

This was probably an issue for lldb-server as well and could very well cleanup some tests that might have been expecting a specific exit status from the process being debugged.

Zachary Turner 1124045ac7 Don't #include "lldb-python.h" from anywhere.
Since interaction with the python interpreter is moving towards
being more isolated, we won't be able to include this header from
normal files anymore, all includes of it should be localized to
the python library which will live under source/bindings/API/Python
after a future patch.

None of the files that were including this header actually depended
on it anyway, so it was just a dead include in every single instance.

Pavel Labath c4e25c9648 Report inferior SIGSEGV as a signal instead of an exception on linux
Summary:
Previously, we reported inferior receiving SIGSEGV (or SIGILL, SIGFPE, SIGBUS) as an "exception"
to LLDB, presumably to match OSX behaviour. Beside the fact that we were basically lying to the
user, this was also causing problems with inferiors which handle SIGSEGV by themselves, since
LLDB was unable to reinject this signal back into the inferior.

This commit changes LLGS to report SIGSEGV as a signal. This has necessitated some changes in the
test-suite, which had previously used eStopReasonException to locate threads that crashed. Now it
uses platform-specific logic, which in the case of linux searches for eStopReasonSignaled with
signal=SIGSEGV.

I have also added the ability to set the description of StopInfoUnixSignal using the description
field of the gdb-remote packet. The linux stub uses this to display additional information about
the segfault (invalid address, address access protected, etc.).

Test Plan: All tests pass on linux and osx.

Greg Clayton aeb3b8b1c0 Change ProcessEventData over to use a std::weak_ptr to a process intead of a std::shared_ptr. Anyone consuming events for a process should have the process around long enough to grab the event and anyone that holds onto an event for too long won't keep the process around.

Greg Clayton b30c50c8fa Add a new "qEcho" packet with the following format:
qEcho:%s

where '%s' is any valid string. The response to this packet is the exact packet itself with no changes, just reply with what you received!

This will help us to recover from packets timing out much more gracefully. Currently if a packet times out, LLDB quickly will hose up the debug session. For example, if we send a "abc" packet and we expect "ABC" back in response, but the "abc" command takes longer than the current timeout value this will happen:


--> "abc"
<-- <<<error: timeout>>>

Now we want to send "def" and get "DEF" back:

--> "def"
<-- "ABC"

We got the wrong response for the "def" packet because we didn't sync up with the server to clear any current responses from previously issues commands.

The fix is to modify GDBRemoteCommunication::WaitForPacketWithTimeoutMicroSecondsNoLock() so that when it gets a timeout, it syncs itself up with the client by sending a "qEcho:%u" where %u is an increasing integer, one for each time we timeout. We then wait for 3 timeout periods to sync back up. So the above "abc" session would look like:

--> "abc"
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
--> "qEcho:1"
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
<-- "abc"
<-- "qEcho:1"

The first timeout is from trying to get the response, then we know we timed out and we send the "qEcho:1" packet and wait for 3 timeout periods to get back in sync knowing that we might actually get the response for the "abc" packet in the mean time...

In this case we would actually succeed in getting the response for "abc". But lets say the remote GDB server is deadlocked and will never response, it would look like:

--> "abc"
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
--> "qEcho:1"
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second
<-- <<<error: timeout>>> 1 second

We then disconnect and say we lost connection.

We might also have a bad GDB server that just dropped the "abc" packet on the floor. We can still recover in this case and it would look like:

--> "qEcho:1"
<-- "qEcho:1"

Then we know our remote GDB server is still alive and well, and it just dropped the "abc" response on the floor and we can continue to debug.

Summary:
IOHandlerProcessSTDIO::Run() was opening the pipe for interrupt requests lazily. This was racing
with another thread executing IOHandlerProcessSTDIO::Cancel() simultaneously. I fix this by
opening the pipe in the object constructor. The pipe will be automatically closed when the object
is destroyed.

Pavel Labath 05a1f2ac4c [NativeProcessLinux] Support inferiors which change their process group
Summary:
Previously, we wait()ed for events from the inferiors process group. This is resulted in a
failure if the inferior changed its process group in the middle of execution. To avoid this, I
pass -1 to the wait() call. The flag __WNOTHREAD makes sure we don't actually wait for events
from any process, but only the processes(threads) which are our children (or traced by us). Since
this happens on the monitor thread, which is dedicated to monitoring a single inferior, we will
be getting events only from this inferior.

Test Plan: All tests pass on linux. I have added a test to check the new functionality.

Greg Clayton 424a5dbc73 Added a new API to SBFrame:
lldb::addr_t SBFrame::GetCFA();

This gets the CFA (call frame address) of the frame so it allows us to take an address that is on the stack and figure out which thread it comes from.

Also modified the heap.py module to be able to find out which variable in a frame's stack frame contains an address. This way when ptr_refs finds a match on the stack, it get then report which variable contains the pointer.

Greg Clayton 08765fac3f I finally found the strong reference that was keeping all lldb_private::Process instances from ever destroying themselves: ProcessModID.m_mod_id was holding onto the last stop event with ProcessModID::SetStopEventForLastNaturalStopID(EventSP). This is a bad idea because ProcessEventData contains a strong refereence to the process. This is now fixed by calling ProcessModID::SetStopEventForLastNaturalStopID(EventSP()) to clear this event in Process::SetExitStatus() and in Process::Finalize().
This was the original cause of the file descriptor leaks that would cause the test suite to die after running a few hundred processes since no process would ever get destroyed and the communication channel in ProcessGDBRemote and the ProcessIOHandler would never close their pipes. 

This process leak was previously worked around by closing the pipes when the communication channel was disconnected.

This was found by using "ptr_refs" from the heap.py in the lldb.macosx.heap module. It was able to find all strong references to the Process and helped me to figure out who was holding this extra reference.

This fixed a current issue with ptr_refs, cstr_refs and malloc_info so that they can work. If expressions define their own types and then return expression results that use those types, those types get copied into the target's AST context so they persist and the expression results can be still printed and used in future expressions. Code was added to the expression parser to copy the context in which types are defined if they are used as the expression results. So in the case of types defined by expressions, they get defined in a lldb_expr function and that function and _all_ of its statements get copied. Many types of statements are not supported in this copy (array subscript, lambdas, etc) so this causes expressions to fail as they can't copy the result types. To work around this issue I have added code that allows expressions to specify an expression specific prefix. Then when you evaluate the expression you can pass the "expr_options" and have types that can be correctly copied out into the target. I added this as a way to work around an issue, but I also think it is nice to be allowed to specify an expression prefix that can be reused by many expressions, so this feature is very useful.

Ewan Crawford 9aa2da0025 Change ProcessGDBRemote last stop packet to a container.
In ProcessGDBRemote we currently have a single packet, m_last_stop_packet, used to set the thread stop info.
However in non-stop mode we can receive several stop reply packets in a sequence for different threads. As a result we need to use a container to hold them before they are processed.

This patch also changes the return type of CheckPacket() so we can detect async notification packets.

Pavel Labath 4446487d71 Improve LLDB prompt handling
Summary:
There is an issue in lldb where the command prompt can appear at the wrong time. The partial fix
we have in for this is not working all the time and is introducing unnecessary delays. This
change does:
- Change Process:SyncIOHandler to use integer start id's for synchronization to avoid it being
  confused by quick start-stop cycles. I picked this up from a suggested patch by Greg to
  lldb-dev.
- coordinates printing of asynchronous text with the iohandlers. This is also based on a
  (different) Greg's patch, but I have added stronger synchronization to it to avoid races.

Together, these changes solve the prompt problem for me on linux (both with and without libedit).
I think they should behave similarly on Mac and FreeBSD and I think they will not make matters
worse for windows.

Test Plan: Prompt comes out alright. All tests still pass on linux.

Tamas Berghammer 3afb2527ce Parse function name from DWARF DW_AT_abstract_origin
A DW_TAG_subprogram entry can contain a reference to a
DW_AT_abstract_origin entry instead of duplicating the information
from it (e.g.: name) when the same function is inlined in some case
and not inlined in other cases.

This CL fixes name parsing for the case when the DW_TAG_subprogram
for the non inlined version contains just a reference to the
DW_AT_abstract_origin entry instead of the full information.

Enrico Granata e87764f247 Add support for custom commands to set flags on themselves
This works for Python commands defined via a class (implement get_flags on your class) and C++ plugin commands (which can call SBCommand::GetFlags()/SetFlags())

Flags allow features such as not letting the command run if there's no target, or if the process is not stopped, ...
Commands could always check for these things themselves, but having these accessible via flags makes custom commands more consistent with built-in ones

Robert Flack 62efb1f6d0 Implement and use adb push for PlatformAndroid::PutFile
Using the adb push protocol is significantly faster than the current method of
sending the hex encoded file data for the remote to write to the file.

Test Plan:
Tests continue to pass - and much faster (e.g. TestSBValuePersist.py takes 10s
down from 4m51s on mac -> android)

Greg Clayton d04f0edad9 Added XML to the host layer.
We know have on API we should use for all XML within LLDB in XML.h. This API will be easy back the XML parsing by different libraries in case libxml2 doesn't work on all platforms. It also allows the only place for #ifdef ...XML... to be in XML.h and XML.cpp. The API is designed so it will still compile with or without XML support and there is a static function "bool XMLDocument::XMLEnabled()" that can be called to see if XML is currently supported. All APIs will return errors, false, or nothing when XML isn't enabled.

Converted all locations that used XML over to using the host XML implementation.

Added target.xml support to debugserver. Extended the XML register format to work for LLDB by including extra attributes and elements where needed. This allows the target.xml to replace the qRegisterInfo packets and allows us to fetch all register info in a single packet.

Tamas Berghammer 068f8a7e2d Move register reading form NativeProcessLinux to NativeRegisterContextLinux*
This change reorganize the register read/write code inside lldb-server on Linux
with moving the architecture independent code into a new class called
NativeRegisterContextLinux and all of the architecture dependent code into the
appropriate NativeRegisterContextLinux_* class. As part of it the compilation of
the architecture specific register contexts are only compiled on the specific
architecture because they can't be used in other cases.

The purpose of this change is to remove a lot of duplicated code from the different
register contexts and to remove the architecture dependent codes from the global
NativeProcessLinux class.

Vince Harron 218353d847 Print port number that lldb-server binds to in platform mode
If binding to port 0 is selected, the actual port is printed.

This improves the reliability of platform startup by ensuring that
a free port can be found.

Greg Clayton 5df78fa35b Did some cleanup to stop us from leaking Pipe file descriptors.
The main issue was the Communication::Disconnect() was calling its Connection::Disconnect() but this wouldn't release the pipes that the ConnectionFileDescriptor was using. We also have someone that is holding a strong reference to the Process so that when you re-run, target replaces its m_process_sp, but it doesn't get destructed because someone has a strong reference to it. I need to track that down. But, even if we have a strong reference to the a process that is outstanding, we need to call Process::Finalize() to have it release as much of its resources as possible to avoid memory bloat. 

Removed the ProcessGDBRemote::SetExitStatus() override and replaced it with ProcessGDBRemote::DidExit().

Now we aren't leaking file descriptors and the stand alone test suite should run much better.

Robert Flack ab78164ad8 Only check for matching arch and UUID when looking for dsym in vincinity of executable.
ModuleSpecs::FindMatchingModuleSpec looks for matching filenames but when
looking for the dSYM we should only be looking for a matching architecture and
and UUID. Jason pointed out this mistake in http://reviews.llvm.org/D9174 when
this function was incorrectly converted to not be Mac specific.

Test Plan:
Running LLDB on test/lang/c/shared_lib_stripped_symbols/a.out in a debugger I've
verified LocateDSYMInVincinityOfExecutable correctly locates the matching dSYM.

Pavel Labath 39036ac31d [NativeProcessLinux] Fix handling of SIGSTOP
Summary:
Previously, NPL tried to reinject SIGSTOP into the inferior in an attempt to get the process to
start in the group-stop state. This was:
a) wrong (reinjection should be controlled by "process handle" lldb setting)
b) racy (it should use Resume for transparent resuming instead of RequestResume)
c) broken (llgs crashed on inferior SIGSTOP)

With this change, SIGSTOP is handled just like any other signal delivered to the inferior: we
stop all threads and report signal reception to lldb. SIGSTOP reinjection does not behave the
same way as it would outside the debugger, but simulating this is a hard problem and is not
normally necessary.

Test Plan: I have added a test which verifies we get SIGSTOP reports and we do not crash.

Jim Ingham 7ac5c86ba9 Fix the logic in DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD::Clear that would only remove the old dyld notification
breakpoint only  if the process it was for is still alive.  We need to always remove this because
it has a pointer to the old loader, and    if we ever hit it we will crash.  I also put in a sanity
check in the callback function to make sure we don't invoke it if the process is wrong.

Greg Clayton 07b5899367 Fixed an issue with expressions that define types in the expression. We must currently touch the members of the struct in the right order or our ClangASTImporter::DeportType() will copy the resulting type into the target AST incorrectly. This is a work around for <rdar://problem/21049838> which the copy type issue so that it doesn't happen.

Siva Chandra 8fd94c9e68 [GDBRemoteCommunicationClient] Increase timeout for qfProcessInfo packet.
Summary:
The test in TestPlatformCommand which runs "platform process list" has
been timing out for Android when running running dosep.py with
LLDB_TEST_THREADS=8. This patch increases the packet timeout to a large
value of 1min to accommodate the long time required for a response for
the qfProcessInfo packet on Android.

Test Plan: LLDB_TEST_THREADS=8 ./dosep.py on Android.

Enrico Granata 4518586234 A previous patch made it so that ValueObjects could update themselves even in the face of an invalid execution context (which was required for the dynamic and synthetic values of const objects)
It turns out, child values also need similar provisions

This patch simplifies things a bit allowing ValueObject subclasses to just declare whether they can accept an invalid context at update time, and letting the update machinery in the EvaluationPoint to the rest
Also, this lets ValueObjectChild proclaim that its parent chooses whether such blank-slate updates are possible

Enrico Granata bb642e5456 Constant result ValueObjects are - well - constant
And they also do not have a thread/frame attached to them

That makes dynamic and synthetic values attached to them impossible to update - which, among other things, makes it impossible to properly display persistent variables of types that could have such dynamic/persistent values

Fix this by making it so that a ValueObject can control its constantness (hint: dynamic and synthetic values cannot be constant) and whether it wants to let itself be updated when an invalid thread is around

Robert Flack eb83fabfa0 Only check _ZN function prefix in Linux and FreeBSD targets in SymbolFileDWARF
In http://reviews.llvm.org/D9754 I enabled the mangled symbol name lookup
workaround used to find global and anonymous namespace symbols in linux binaries
for all platforms, however we should still only check for these symbols when
processing Linux or FreeBSD binaries where they are relevant. This patch makes

Greg Clayton 1548440c45 OperatingSystem plug-ins need to avoid running code when fetching thread lists. This patch helps with that by making all SBValue objects that are fetched not try to do dynamic type resolution. Objective C can end up running code to fetch a list of all ISA pointers so we can tell when something is dynamic and this running code could cause the OS plug-in to continue the target.
This fix disabled dynamic types, fetches the new threads from the OS plug-in, then restores the setting.

Pavel Labath 9eb1ecb9af [NativeProcessLinux] Fix removal of temporary breakpoints
Summary:
There was an issue in NPL, where we attempted removal of temporary breakpoints (used to implement
software single stepping), while some threads of the process were running. This is a problem
since we currently always use the main thread's ID in the removal ptrace call. Therefore, if the
main thread was still running, the ptrace call would fail, and the software breakpoint would
remain, causing all kinds of problems. This change removes the breakpoints after all threads have
stopped. This fixes TestExitDuringStep on Android arm and can also potentially help in other
situations, as previously the breakpoint would not get removed if the thread stopped for another
reason.

Test Plan: TestExitDuringStep passes, other tests remain unchanged.

Pavel Labath 6e35163cca [NativeProcessLinux] Fix potential race during thread exit
Summary:
This is the same issue as we had in D9145 for thread creation. Going through the full
ThreadDidStop/RequestResume cycle can cause a deferred notification to fire, which is not correct
when we are ignoring an event and resuming the thread. In this case it doesn't matter much since
the thread will die after that anyway, but for correctness, we should do the same thing here.
Also treating the SIGTRAP case the same way.

Test Plan: Tests continue to pass.

Pavel Labath 48fca3b982 Fix StopInfoWatchpoint handling after r237411
r237411 exposed the following issue: ProcessGDBRemote used the description field in the
stop-reply to set the description of the StopInfo. In the case of watchpoints, the packet
description contains the raw address that got hit, which is not exactly the information we want
to display to the user as the stop info. Therefore, I have changed the code to use the packet
description only if the StopInfo does not already have a description. This makes the behavior
equivalent to the pre-r237411 behavior as then the SetDecription call got ignored for
watchpoints.

Zachary Turner 275806f90b Don't bother dynamic loading the Windows Slim RW Lock API.
This API has been present since XP, and I think it's safe to
drop support for XP (since other things have been introduced long
ago which already don't work on XP anyway).

With this patch, we can statically bind against the exports and
not bother falling back to a CRITICAL_SECTION if we can't load
the API.

Zachary Turner ff33eefcc7 Fix an issue with finding python on Windows.
Someone must have changed the behavior of FileSpec slightly
relating to whether or not there is a trailing backslash when calling
GetPath() and GetDirectory().  This caused ScriptInterpreterPython
to find the wrong values when initializing sys.path, and as a result
we couldn't find the lldb module.

This patch fixes the issue, and also adds a test to make sure that
GetDirectory() does not return a string containing a trailing slash.

Since then GetSupportedArchitectureAtIndex() has been changed. That change, http://reviews.llvm.org/D9511 , breaks non-x86 linux implementations, so this change goes back to the old implementation and adds remote linux support from D8709.

D8709 summary:

The Linux Platform currently will only say the Host architecture is supported. This patch retains that behavior for the Host Platform, but adds a list of architectures for the Remote Platform.

Robert Flack 5cbd3bfca1 Enable workaround for finding functions in global namespace on linux binaries on
all hosts.

We require a workaround to be able to locate global and anonymous namespace
functions in the dwarf symbols on linux binaries. This patch enables this code

Non-stop mode is enabled using the setting target.non-stop-mode, which sends a QNonStop packet when establishing the remote connection.
Changes are also made to treat the '?' stop reply packet differently in non-stop mode, according to spec https://sourceware.org/gdb/current/onlinedocs/gdb/Remote-Non_002dStop.html#Remote-Non_002dStop.
A setting for querying the remote for default thread on setup is also included.

Handling of '%' async notification packets will be added next.

Robert Flack 8ec55a53a7 Don't change the selected platform when creating the dummy target.
A dummy target is used by TargetList::CreateTargetInternal to prime newly
created targets. the first time this is done it creates the dummy target. The
dummy target is created with the host platform (See
TargetList::CreateDummyTarget) which results in switching the selected platform
back to the host platform even when creating a target for a different platform.
This change avoids changing the selected platform while creating the dummy
target to prevent this side effect.

Test Plan:
./dotest.py $DOTEST_OPTS -t -p TestCreateAfterAttach.py
Tests using process attach (e.g. TestCreateAfterAttach.py, TestHelloWorld.py)
now run successfully mac -> linux.
