Nicolai Haehnle ea36cd595c AMDGPU: Future-proof {raw,struct}.buffer.atomic intrinsics
Summary:
The ISA is really supposed to support 64-bit atomics as well,
so the data type should be an overload.

Mesa doesn't use these atomics yet, in fact I noticed this
issue while trying to use the atomics from Mesa.

Neil Henning 6641657453 [AMDGPU] Add an AMDGPU specific atomic optimizer.
This commit adds a new IR level pass to the AMDGPU backend to perform
atomic optimizations. It works by:

- Running through a function and finding atomicrmw add/sub or uses of
the atomic buffer intrinsics for add/sub.
- If all arguments except the value to be added/subtracted are uniform,
record the value to be optimized.
- Run through the atomic operations we can optimize and, depending on
whether the value is uniform/divergent use wavefront wide operations
(DPP in the divergent case) to calculate the total amount to be
  atomically added/subtracted.
- Then let only a single lane of each wavefront perform the atomic
operation, reducing the total number of atomic operations in flight.
- Lastly we recombine the result from the single lane to each lane of
the wavefront, and calculate our individual lanes offset into the
  final result.

Tim Renouf a37679d67b [AMDGPU] Fix for negative offsets in buffer/tbuffer intrinsics
Summary:
The new buffer/tbuffer intrinsics handle an out-of-range immediate
offset by moving/adding offset&-4096 to a vgpr, leaving an in-range
immediate offset, with a chance of the move/add being CSEd for similar
loads/stores.

However it turns out that a negative offset in a vgpr is illegal, even
if adding the immediate offset makes it legal again.

Therefore, this commit disables the offset&-4096 thing if the offset is
negative.

Bjorn Pettersson c2fc53ac90 [PHIElimination] Lower a PHI node with only undef uses as IMPLICIT_DEF
Summary:
The lowering of PHI nodes used to detect if all inputs originated
from IMPLICIT_DEF's. If so the PHI node was replaced by an
IMPLICIT_DEF. Now we also consider undef uses when checking the
inputs. So if all inputs are implicitly defined or undef we
lower the PHI to an IMPLICIT_DEF. This makes
PHIElimination::LowerPHINode more consistent as it checks
both implicit and undef properties at later stages.

Daniil Fukalov 349b5943b4 [RegAllocGreedy] avoid using physreg candidates that cannot be correctly spilled
For the AMDGPU target if a MBB contains exec mask restore preamble, SplitEditor may get state when it cannot insert a spill instruction.

E.g. for a MIR

bb.100:
    %1 = S_OR_SAVEEXEC_B64 %2, implicit-def $exec, implicit-def $scc, implicit $exec
and if the regalloc will try to allocate a virtreg to the physreg already assigned to virtreg %1, it should insert spill instruction before the S_OR_SAVEEXEC_B64 instruction.
But it is not possible since can generate incorrect code in terms of exec mask.

The change makes regalloc to ignore such physreg candidates.

Sameer Sahasrabuddhe b4f2d1cb68 [AMDGPU] restore r342722 which was reverted with r342743
[AMDGPU] lower-switch in preISel as a workaround for legacy DA

Summary:
The default target of the switch instruction may sometimes be an
"unreachable" block, when it is guaranteed that one of the cases is
always taken. The dominator tree concludes that such a switch
instruction does not have an immediate post dominator. This confuses
divergence analysis, which is unable to propagate sync dependence to
the targets of the switch instruction.

As a workaround, the AMDGPU target now invokes lower-switch as a
preISel pass. LowerSwitch is designed to handle the unreachable
default target correctly, allowing the divergence analysis to locate
the correct immediate dominator of the now-lowered switch.

Nicolai Haehnle 283b995097 AMDGPU: Fix getInstSizeInBytes
Summary:
Add some optional code to validate getInstSizeInBytes for emitted
instructions. This flushed out some issues which are fixed by this
patch:

- Streamline getInstSizeInBytes
- Properly define the VI readlane/writelane instruction as VOP3
- Fix the inline constant determination. Specifically, this change
fixes an issue where a 32-bit value of 0xffffffff was recorded
as unsigned. This is equal to -1 when restricting to a 32-bit
comparison, and an inline constant can be used.

Summary:
I'm not sure if this patch is correct or if it needs more qualifying somehow. Bitcast shouldn't change the size of the load so it should be ok? We already do something similar for stores. We'll change the type of a volatile store if the resulting store is Legal or Custom. I'm not sure we should be allowing Custom there...

I was playing around with converting X86 atomic loads/stores(except seq_cst) into regular volatile loads and stores during lowering. This would allow some special RMW isel patterns in X86InstrCompiler.td to be removed. But there's some floating point patterns in there that didn't work because we don't fold (f64 (bitconvert (i64 volatile load))) or (f32 (bitconvert (i32 volatile load))).

intrinsics:

* there are separate raw and struct versions: raw does not have an
index arg and sets idxen=0 in the instruction, and struct always sets
idxen=1 in the instruction even if the index is 0, to allow for the
fact that gfx9 does bounds checking differently depending on whether
  idxen is set;

* there is a combined cachepolicy arg (glc+slc)

* there are now only two offset args: one for the offset that is
included in bounds checking and swizzling, to be split between the
instruction's voffset and immoffset fields, and one for the offset
that is excluded from bounds checking and swizzling, to go into the
  instruction's soffset field.

The AMDISD::BUFFER_* SD nodes always have an index operand, all three
offset operands, combined cachepolicy operand, and an extra idxen

1. It sometimes gave invalid MIR where there is some control flow path
to the new implicit use of a register on EXIT_WWM that does not pass
   through any def.

2. There were lots of false positives of registers that needed to have
an implicit use added to EXIT_WWM.

3. Adding an implicit use to EXIT_WWM (and adding an implicit def just
before the WWM code, which I tried in order to fix (1)) caused lots
of the values to be spilled and reloaded unnecessarily.

This commit is a rework of SIFixWWMLiveness, with the following changes:

1. Instead of considering any register with a def that can reach the WWM
code and a def that can be reached from the WWM code, it now
considers three specific cases that need to be handled.

2. A register that needs liveness over WWM to be synthesized now has it
done by adding itself as an implicit use to defs other than the
   dominant one.

Also added the following fixmes:

FIXME: We should detect whether a register in one of the above
categories is already live at the WWM code before deciding to add the
implicit uses to synthesize its liveness.

FIXME: I believe this whole scheme may be flawed due to the possibility
of the register allocator doing live interval splitting.

When lowering calling conventions, prefer to decompose vectors
into the constitute register types. This avoids artifical constraints
to satisfy a wide super-register.

This improves code quality because now optimizations don't need to
deal with the super-register constraint. For example the immediate
folding code doesn't deal with 4 component reg_sequences, so by
breaking the register down earlier the existing immediate folding
code is able to work.

This also avoids the need for the shader input processing code
to manually split vector types.

Sanjay Patel a41c886c55 [DAGCombiner] extend(ifpositive(X)) -> shift-right (not X)
This is almost the same as an existing IR canonicalization in instcombine,
so I'm assuming this is a good early generic DAG combine too.

The motivation comes from reduced bit-hacking for select-of-constants in IR
after rL331486. We want to restore that functionality in the DAG as noted in
the commit comments for that change and the llvm-dev discussion here:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2018-July/124433.html

The PPC and AArch tests show that those targets are already doing something
similar. x86 will be neutral in the minimal case and generally better when
this pattern is extended with other ops as shown in the signbit-shift.ll tests.

Note the asymmetry: we don't include the (extend (ifneg X)) transform because
it already exists in SimplifySelectCC(), and that is verified in the later
unchanged tests in the signbit-shift.ll files. Without the 'not' op, the
general transform to use a shift is always a win because that's a single
instruction.

Matt Arsenault de95077780 AMDGPU: Fix handling of alignment padding in DAG argument lowering
This was completely broken if there was ever a struct argument, as
this information is thrown away during the argument analysis.

The offsets as passed in to LowerFormalArguments are not useful,
as they partially depend on the legalized result register type,
and they don't consider the alignment in the first place.

Ignore the Ins array, and instead figure out from the raw IR type
what we need to do. This seems to fix the padding computation
if the DAG lowering is forced (and stops breaking arguments
following padded arguments if the arguments were only partially
lowered in the IR)

Matt Arsenault 8c4a35237a AMDGPU: Add pass to lower kernel arguments to loads
This replaces most argument uses with loads, but for
now not all.

The code in SelectionDAG for calling convention lowering
is actively harmful for amdgpu_kernel. It attempts to
split the argument types into register legal types, which
results in low quality code for arbitary types. Since
all kernel arguments are passed in memory, we just want the
raw types.

I've tried a couple of methods of mitigating this in SelectionDAG,
but it's easier to just bypass this problem alltogether. It's
possible to hack around the problem in the initial lowering,
but the real problem is the DAG then expects to be able to use
CopyToReg/CopyFromReg for uses of the arguments outside the block.

Exposing the argument loads in the IR also has the advantage
that the LoadStoreVectorizer can merge them.

I'm not sure the best approach to dealing with the IR
argument list is. The patch as-is just leaves the IR arguments
in place, so all the existing code will still compute the same
kernarg size and pointlessly lowers the arguments.

Arguably the frontend should emit kernels with an empty argument
list in the first place. Alternatively a dummy array could be
inserted as a single argument just to reserve space.

This does have some disadvantages. Local pointer kernel arguments can
no longer have AssertZext placed on them as the equivalent !range
metadata is not valid on pointer typed loads. This is mostly bad
for SI which needs to know about the known bits in order to use the
DS instruction offset, so in this case this is not done.

More importantly, this skips noalias arguments since this pass
does not yet convert this to the equivalent !alias.scope and !noalias
metadata. Producing this metadata correctly seems to be tricky,
although this logically is the same as inlining into a function which
doesn't exist. Additionally, exposing these loads to the vectorizer
may result in degraded aliasing information if a pointer load is
merged with another argument load.

I'm also not entirely sure this is preserving the current clover
ABI, although I would greatly prefer if it would stop widening
arguments and match the HSA ABI. As-is I think it is extending
< 4-byte arguments to 4-bytes but doesn't align them to 4-bytes.

Matt Arsenault 921f7a27cc StackSlotColoring: Decide colors per stack ID
I thought I fixed this in r308673, but that fix was
very broken. The assumption that any frame index can be used
in place of another was more widespread than I realized.
Even when stack slot sharing was disabled, this was still
replacing frame index uses with a different ID with a different
stack slot.

Really fix this by doing the coloring per-stack ID, so all of
the coloring logically done in a separate namespace. This is a lot
simpler than trying to figure out how to change the color if
the stack ID is different.

Nicolai Haehnle 7a9c03f484 AMDGPU: Select MIMG instructions manually in SITargetLowering
Summary:
Having TableGen patterns for image intrinsics is hitting limitations:
for D16 we already have to manually pre-lower the packing of data
values, and we will have to do the same for A16 eventually.

Since there is already some custom C++ code anyway, it is arguably easier
to just do everything in C++, now that we can use the beefed-up generic
tables backend of TableGen to provide all the required metadata and map
intrinsics to corresponding opcodes. With this approach, all image
intrinsic lowering happens in SITargetLowering::lowerImage. That code is
dense due to all the cases that it handles, but it should still be easier
to follow than what we had before, by virtue of it all being done in a
single location, and by virtue of not relying on the TableGen pattern
magic that very few people really understand.

This means that we will have MachineSDNodes with MIMG instructions
during DAG combining, but that seems alright: previously we had
intrinsic nodes instead, but those are similarly opaque to the generic
CodeGen infrastructure, and the final pattern matching just did a 1:1
translation to machine instructions anyway. If anything, the fact that
we now merge the address words into a vector before DAG combine should
be an advantage.

Nicolai Haehnle b3a9b68513 AMDGPU: Add implicit def of SCC to kill and indirect pseudos
Summary:
Kill instructions sometimes do use SCC in unusual circumstances, when
v_cmpx cannot be used due to the operands that are involved.

Additionally, even if SCC was never defined by the expansion, kill pseudos
could previously occur between an s_cmp and an s_cbranch_scc, which breaks
the SCC liveness tracking when the pseudo is expanded to split the basic
block. While it would be possible to explicitly mark the SCC as live-in for
the successor basic block, it's simpler to just mark the pseudo as using SCC,
so that such a sequence is never emitted by instruction selection in the
first place.

A similar issue affects indirect source/dest pseudos in principle, although
I haven't been able to come up with a test case where it actually matters
(this affects instruction selection, so a MIR test can't be used).

Nicolai Haehnle f267431901 AMDGPU: Turn D16 for MIMG instructions into a regular operand
Summary:
This allows us to reduce the number of different machine instruction
opcodes, which reduces the table sizes and helps flatten the TableGen
multiclass hierarchies.

We can do this because for each hardware MIMG opcode, we have a full set
of IMAGE_xxx_Vn_Vm machine instructions for all required sizes of vdata
and vaddr registers. Instead of having separate D16 machine instructions,
a packed D16 instructions loading e.g. 4 components can simply use the
same V2 opcode variant that non-D16 instructions use.

We still require a TSFlag for D16 buffer instructions, because the
D16-ness of buffer instructions is part of the opcode. Renaming the flag
should help avoid future confusion.

The one non-obvious code change is that for gather4 instructions, the
disassembler can no longer automatically decide whether to use a V2 or
a V4 variant. The existing logic which choose the correct variant for
other MIMG instruction is extended to cover gather4 as well.

As a bonus, some of the assembler error messages are now more helpful
(e.g., complaining about a wrong data size instead of a non-existing
instruction).

While we're at it, delete a whole bunch of dead legacy TableGen code.

Alina Sbirlea dfd14adeb0 Generalize MergeBlockIntoPredecessor. Replace uses of MergeBasicBlockIntoOnlyPred.
Summary:
Two utils methods have essentially the same functionality. This is an attempt to merge them into one.
1. lib/Transforms/Utils/Local.cpp : MergeBasicBlockIntoOnlyPred
2. lib/Transforms/Utils/BasicBlockUtils.cpp : MergeBlockIntoPredecessor

Prior to the patch:
1. MergeBasicBlockIntoOnlyPred
Updates either DomTree or DeferredDominance
Moves all instructions from Pred to BB, deletes Pred
Asserts BB has single predecessor
If address was taken, replace the block address with constant 1 (?)

2. MergeBlockIntoPredecessor
Updates DomTree, LoopInfo and MemoryDependenceResults
Moves all instruction from BB to Pred, deletes BB
Returns if doesn't have a single predecessor
Returns if BB's address was taken

After the patch:
Method 2. MergeBlockIntoPredecessor is attempting to become the new default:
Updates DomTree or DeferredDominance, and LoopInfo and MemoryDependenceResults
Moves all instruction from BB to Pred, deletes BB
Returns if doesn't have a single predecessor
Returns if BB's address was taken

Uses of MergeBasicBlockIntoOnlyPred that need to be replaced:

1. lib/Transforms/Scalar/LoopSimplifyCFG.cpp
Updated in this patch. No challenges.

2. lib/CodeGen/CodeGenPrepare.cpp
Updated in this patch.
  i. eliminateFallThrough is straightforward, but I added using a temporary array to avoid the iterator invalidation.
ii. eliminateMostlyEmptyBlock(s) methods also now use a temporary array for blocks
Some interesting aspects:
  - Since Pred is not deleted (BB is), the entry block does not need updating.
  - The entry block was being updated with the deleted block in eliminateMostlyEmptyBlock. Added assert to make obvious that BB=SinglePred.
  - isMergingEmptyBlockProfitable assumes BB is the one to be deleted.
  - eliminateMostlyEmptyBlock(BB) does not delete BB on one path, it deletes its unique predecessor instead.
  - adding some test owner as subscribers for the interesting tests modified:
    test/CodeGen/X86/avx-cmp.ll
    test/CodeGen/AMDGPU/nested-loop-conditions.ll
    test/CodeGen/AMDGPU/si-annotate-cf.ll
    test/CodeGen/X86/hoist-spill.ll
    test/CodeGen/X86/2006-11-17-IllegalMove.ll

3. lib/Transforms/Scalar/JumpThreading.cpp
Not covered in this patch. It is the only use case using the DeferredDominance.
I would defer to Brian Rzycki to make this replacement.

Matt Arsenault 90083d3088 AMDGPU: Try a lot harder to emit scalar loads
This has two main components. First, widen
widen short constant loads in DAG when they have
the correct alignment. This is already done a bit in
AMDGPUCodeGenPrepare, since that has access to
DivergenceAnalysis. This can't help kernarg loads
created in the DAG. Start to use DAG divergence analysis
to help this case.

The second part is to avoid kernel argument lowering
breaking the alignment of short vector elements because
calling convention lowering wants to split everything
into legal register types.

When loading a split type, load the nearest 4-byte aligned
segment and shift to get the desired bits. This extra
load of the earlier argument piece ends up merging,
and the bit extract hopefully folds out.

There are a number of improvements and regressions with
this, but I think as-is this is a better compromise between
several of the worst parts of SelectionDAG.

Particularly when i16 is legal, this produces worse code
for i8 and i16 element vector kernel arguments. This is
partially due to the very weak load merging the DAG does.
It only looks for fairly specific combines between pairs
of loads which no longer appear. In particular this
causes v4i16 loads to be split into 2 components when
previously the two halves were merged.

Worse, because of the newly introduced shifts, there
is a lot more unnecessary vector packing and unpacking code
emitted. At least some of this is due to reporting
false for isTypeDesirableForOp for i16 as a workaround for
the lack of divergence information in the DAG. The cases
where this happens it doesn't actually matter, but the
relevant code in SimplifyDemandedBits doens't have the context
to know to ignore this.

The use of the scalar cache is probably more important
than the mess of mostly scalar instructions doing this packing
and unpacking. Future work can fix this, possibly by making better
use of the new DAG divergence information for controlling promotion
decisions, or adding another version of shift + trunc + shift
combines that doesn't only know about the used types.

Tim Renouf ad8b7c1190 [AMDGPU] Fixed incorrect break from loop
Summary:
Lower control flow did not correctly handle the case that a loop break
in if/else was on a condition that was not guaranteed to be masked by
exec. The first test kernel shows an example of this going wrong; after
exiting the loop, exec is all ones, even if it was not before the loop.

The fix is for lowering of if-break and else-break to insert an
S_AND_B64 to mask the break condition with exec. This commit also
includes the optimization of not inserting that S_AND_B64 if it is
obviously not needed because the break condition is the result of a
V_CMP in the same basic block.

Changpeng Fang 5f9154618e StructurizeCFG: Adjust the loop depth for a subregion to order the nodes correctly
Summary:
StructurizeCFG::orderNodes basically uses a reverse post-order (RPO) traversal of the region list to get the order.
The only problem with it is that sometimes backedges for outer loops will be visited before backedges for inner loops.
To solve this problem, a loop depth based approach has been used to make sure all blocks in this loop has been visited
before moving on to outer loop.

However, we found a problem for a SubRegion which is a loop itself:

--> BB1 --> BB2 --> BB3 -->

In this case, BB2 is a SubRegion (loop), and thus its loopdepth is different than that of BB1 and BB3. This fact will lead
BB2 to be placed in the wrong order.

In this work, we treat the SubRegion as a special case and use its exit block to determine the loop and its depth
to guard the sorting.

We can't propagate undef here because if a variable operand is a NaN, these

Changpeng Fang 391bcf8893 AMDGPU/SI: Handle infinite loop for the structurizer to work with CFG with infinite loops.
Summary:
The current StructurizeCFG pass only works for CFG with one exit. AMDGPUUnifyDivergentExitNodes combines multiple "return" blocks and/or "unreachable" blocks
to one exit block for the Structurizer to work. However, infinite loop is another kind of special "exit", and if we don't handle it, the case of multiple exits will prevent the structurizer from working.

In this work, for each infinite loop, we add a dummy edge to the "return" block, and thus the AMDGPUUnifyDivergentExitNodes pass will work with infinite loops.
This will make CFG with infinite loops be structurized.
