George Rimar 099960d322 [MC] - Don't assert when non-english characters are used.
I found that llvm-mc does not like non-english characters even in comments,
which it tries to tokenize.

Problem happens because of functions like isdigit(), isalnum() which takes
int argument and expects it is not negative.
But at the same time MCParser uses char* to store input buffer poiner, char has signed value,
so it is possible to pass negative value to one of functions from above and
that triggers an assert.
Testcase for demonstration is provided.

To fix the issue helper functions were introduced in StringExtras.h

This reverts commit 6389e7aa724ea7671d096f4770f016c3d86b0d54.

There is a bug in this implementation where the string value of the
checksum is outputted, instead of the actual hex bytes. Therefore the
checksum is incorrect, and this prevent pdbs from being loaded by visual
studio. Revert this until the checksum is emitted correctly.

Re-committing after r311325 fixed an unintentional use of '#' comments in

Chandler Carruth 6bda14b313 Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....
I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now
clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every
line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise
LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days.

I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes
isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on
particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately)
or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that
I didn't want to disturb in this patch.

This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or
anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format
over your #include lines in the files.

Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things
stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant
re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch
at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving
conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again).

This review is the second review in a series of four reviews.
(one for each altmacro feature: LOCAL, string delimiter, string '!' escape sign and absolute expression as a string '%' ).

"<string>
You can delimit strings with matching angle brackets."

assumptions:

1. If an argument begins with '<' and ends with '>'. The argument is considered as a string.
2. Except adding new string mark '<..>', a regular macro behavior is expected.
3. The altmacro cannot affect the regular less/greater behavior.
4. If a comma is present inside an angle brackets it considered as a character and not as a separator.

expression assumptions:

1. '%' can only evaluate an absolute expression.

4. The result of Absolute Expressions can be only integer.

Simon Atanasyan 2953224d64 [MC] Accept a numeric value as an ELF section header's type
GAS supports specification of section header's type using a numeric
value [1]. This patch brings the same functionality to LLVM. That allows
to setup some target-specific section types belong to the SHT_LOPROC -
SHT_HIPROC range. If we attempt to print unknown section type, MCSectionELF
class shows an error message. It's better than print sole '@' sign
without any section type name.

In case of MIPS, example of such section's type is SHT_MIPS_DWARF.
Without the patch we will have to implement some workarounds
in probably not-MIPS-specific part of code base to convert SHT_MIPS_DWARF
to the @progbits while printing assembly and to assign SHT_MIPS_DWARF for
@progbits sections named .debug_* if we encounter such section in
an input assembly.

Teresa Johnson d820447212 Perform symbol binding for .symver versioned symbols
Summary:
In a .symver assembler directive like:
.symver name, name2@@nodename
"name2@@nodename" should get the same symbol binding as "name".

While the ELF object writer is updating the symbol binding for .symver
aliases before emitting the object file, not doing so when the module
inline assembly is handled by the RecordStreamer is causing the wrong
behavior in *LTO mode.

E.g. when "name" is global, "name2@@nodename" must also be marked as
global. Otherwise, the symbol is skipped when iterating over the LTO
InputFile symbols (InputFile::Symbol::shouldSkip). So, for example,
when performing any *LTO via the gold-plugin, the versioned symbol
definition is not recorded by the plugin and passed back to the
linker. If the object was in an archive, and there were no other symbols
needed from that object, the object would not be included in the final
link and references to the versioned symbol are undefined.

The llvm-lto2 tests added will give an error about an unused symbol
resolution without the fix.

Sanne Wouda 2933875cc2 [Assembler] Enable nicer diagnostics for inline assembly.
Fixed test.

Summary:
Enables source location in diagnostic messages from the backend. This
is after parsing, during finalization. This requires the SourceMgr, the
inline assembly string buffer, and DiagInfo to still be alive after
EmitInlineAsm returns.

This patch creates a single SourceMgr for inline assembly inside the
AsmPrinter. MCContext gets a pointer to this SourceMgr. Using one
SourceMgr per call to EmitInlineAsm would make it difficult for
MCContext to figure out in which SourceMgr the SMLoc is located, while a
single SourceMgr can figure it out if it has multiple buffers.

The Str argument to EmitInlineAsm is copied into a buffer and owned by
the inline asm SourceMgr. This ensures that DiagHandlers won't print
garbage. (Clang emits a "note: instantiated into assembly here", which
refers to this string.)

The AsmParser gets destroyed before finalization, which means that the
DiagHandlers the AsmParser installs into the SourceMgr will be stale.
Restore the saved DiagHandlers.

Since now we're using just one SourceMgr for multiple inline asm
strings, we need to tell the AsmParser which buffer it needs to parse
currently. Hand a buffer id -- returned from SourceMgr::

Rafael Espindola 13a79bbfe5 Change how we handle section symbols on ELF.
On ELF every section can have a corresponding section symbol. When in
an assembly file we have

.quad .text

the '.text' refers to that symbol.

The way we used to handle them is to leave .text an undefined symbol
until the very end when the object writer would map them to the
actual section symbol.

The problem with that is that anything before the end would see an
undefined symbol. This could result in bad diagnostics
(test/MC/AArch64/label-arithmetic-diags-elf.s), or incorrect results
when using the asm streamer (est/MC/Mips/expansion-jal-sym-pic.s).

Fixing this will also allow using the section symbol earlier for
setting sh_link of SHF_METADATA sections.

This patch includes a few hacks to avoid changing our behaviour when
handling conflicts between section symbols and other symbols. I
reported pr31850 to track that.

Prakhar Bahuguna e640c6f765 Allow ELF section flags to be specified numerically
Summary:
GAS already allows flags for sections to be specified directly as a
numeric value. This functionality is particularly useful for setting
processor or application-specific values that may not be directly
supported or understood by LLVM. This patch allows LLVM to use numeric
section flag values verbatim if specified by the assembly file.

Prakhar Bahuguna 52a7dd7d78 [ARM] Implement execute-only support in CodeGen
This implements execute-only support for ARM code generation, which
prevents the compiler from generating data accesses to code sections.
The following changes are involved:

* Add the CodeGen option "-arm-execute-only" to the ARM code generator.
* Add the clang flag "-mexecute-only" as well as the GCC-compatible
alias "-mpure-code" to enable this option.
* When enabled, literal pools are replaced with MOVW/MOVT instructions,
with VMOV used in addition for floating-point literals. As the MOVT
instruction is required, execute-only support is only available in
Thumb mode for targets supporting ARMv8-M baseline or Thumb2.
* Jump tables are placed in data sections when in execute-only mode.
* The execute-only text section is assigned section ID 0, and is
marked as unreadable with the SHF_ARM_PURECODE flag with symbol 'y'.
This also overrides selection of ELF sections for globals.

Oliver Stannard 268f42f1ce [Assembler] Better error messages for .org directive
Currently, the error messages we emit for the .org directive when the
expression is not absolute or is out of range do not include the line
number of the directive, so it can be hard to track down the problem if
a file contains many .org directives.

This patch stores the source location in the MCOrgFragment, so that it
can be used for diagnostics emitted during layout.

Since layout is an iterative process, and the errors are detected during
each iteration, it would have been possible for errors to be reported
multiple times. To prevent this, I've made the assembler bail out after
each iteration if any errors have been reported. This will still allow
multiple unrelated errors to be reported in the common case where they
are all detected in the first round of layout.

Allow errors to be deferred and emitted as part of clean up to simplify

better context.

As part of this many minor cleanups to the Parser:

* Unify parser cleanup on error
* Add Workaround for incorrect return values in ParseDirective instances
* Tighten checks on error-signifying return values for parser functions
and fix in-tree TargetParsers to be more consistent with the changes.
* Fix AArch64 test cases checking for spurious error messages that are

These changes should be backwards compatible with current Target Parsers

Reid Kleckner 31263731da [MC] Handle discardable COFF sections in assembly
Summary:
This fixes a dumpbin warning on objects produced by the MC assembler
when starting from text. All .debug$S sections are supposed to be marked
IMAGE_SCN_MEM_DISCARDABLE. The main, non-COMDAT .debug$S section had
this set, but any comdat ones were not being marked discardable because
there was no .section flag for it.

This change does two things:

- If the section name starts with .debug, implicitly mark the section as
discardable. This means we do the same thing as gas on .s files with
DWARF from GCC, which is important.

- Adds the 'D' flag to the .section directive on COFF to explicitly say
a section is discardable. We only emit this flag if the section name
does not start with .debug. This allows the user to explicitly tweak
their section flags without worrying about magic section names.

The only thing you can't do in this scheme is to create a
non-discardable section with a name starting with ".debug", but
hopefully users don't need that.

Reid Kleckner a9f4cc9510 [codeview] Add new directives to record inlined call site line info
Summary:
Previously we were trying to represent this with the "contains" list of
the .cv_inline_linetable directive, which was not enough information.
Now we directly represent the chain of inlined call sites, so we know
what location to emit when we encounter a .cv_loc directive of an inner
inlined call site while emitting the line table of an outer function or
inlined call site. Fixes PR29146.

Also fixes PR29147, where we would crash when .cv_loc directives crossed
sections. Now we write down the section of the first .cv_loc directive,
and emit an error if any other .cv_loc directive for that function is in
a different section.

Also fixes issues with discontiguous inlined source locations, like in
this example:

  volatile int unlikely_cond = 0;
  extern void __declspec(noreturn) abort();
  __forceinline void f() {
    if (!unlikely_cond) abort();
  }
  int main() {
    unlikely_cond = 0;
    f();
    unlikely_cond = 0;
  }

Previously our tables gave bad location information for the 'abort'
call, and the debugger wouldn't snow the inlined stack frame for 'f'.
It is important to emit good line tables for this code pattern, because
it comes up whenever an asan bug occurs in an inlined function. The
__asan_report* stubs are generally placed after the normal function
epilogue, leading to discontiguous regions of inlined code.

Daniel Sanders 2ab623b5a3 [mips][ias] Fix all the hacks related to MIPS-specific unary operators (%hi/%lo/%gp_rel/etc.).
Summary:
They are now lexed as a single token on targets where
MCAsmInfo::HasMipsExpressions is true and then parsed in a similar way to
the '~' operator as part of MCExpr::parseExpression.

As a result:
* expressions and immediates no longer have different parsing rules. The
difference is now solely down to whether evaluateAsAbsolute() succeeds.
* %hi(%neg(%gp_rel(x))) are no longer parsed as a single operator and
decomposed into the three MipsMCExpr nodes. They are parsed directly as
  three MipsMCExpr nodes.
  * parseMemOperand no longer needs to eat all the surrounding parenthesis
to get at the outermost operator to make this work
* %hi(%neg(%gp_rel(x))) and %lo(%neg(%gp_rel(x))) are no longer the only
3-in-1 relocs that parse for N64. They're still the only combinations that
are permitted in relocatable expressions though. Fixing that should be a
  later patch.
* We no longer need to list all the tokens that can occur as the first token of
  an expression or immediate.

test/MC/Mips/expr1.s:
This change also prevents the incorrect lowering of %lo(2*4)+foo to
%lo(8+foo) which is not an equivalent expression (the difference is
whether foo is truncated to 16-bit or not) and the test has been
updated to account for the macro expansion the correct expression requires.

Oliver Stannard 2171828a49 [ARM] Implement -mimplicit-it assembler option
This option, compatible with gas's -mimplicit-it, controls the
generation/checking of implicit IT blocks in ARM/Thumb assembly.

This option allows two behaviours that were not possible before:
- When in ARM mode, emit a warning when assembling a conditional
instruction that is not in an IT block. This is enabled with
  -mimplicit-it=never and -mimplicit-it=thumb.
- When in Thumb mode, automatically generate IT instructions when an
instruction with a condition code appears outside of an IT block. This
is enabled with -mimplicit-it=thumb and -mimplicit-it=always.

The default option is -mimplicit-it=arm, which matches the existing
behaviour (allow conditional ARM instructions outside IT blocks without
warning, and error if a conditional Thumb instruction is outside an IT
block).

The general strategy for generating IT blocks in Thumb mode is to keep a
small list of instructions which should be in the IT block, and only
emit them when we encounter something in the input which means we cannot
continue the block. This could be caused by:
- A non-predicable instruction
- An instruction with a condition not compatible with the IT block
- The IT block already contains 4 instructions
- A branch-like instruction (including ALU instructions with the PC as
the destination), which cannot appear in the middle of an IT block
- A label (branching into an IT block is not legal)
- A change of section, architecture, ISA, etc
- The end of the assembly file.

Some of these, such as change of section and end of file, are parsed
outside of the ARM asm parser, so I've added a new virtual function to
AsmParser to ensure any previously-parsed instructions have been
emitted. The ARM implementation of this flushes the currently pending IT
block.

We now have to try instruction matching up to 3 times, because we cannot
know if the current IT block is valid before matching, and instruction
matching changes depending on the IT block state (due to the 16-bit ALU
instructions, which set the flags iff not in an IT block). In the common
case of not having an open implicit IT block and the instruction being
matched not needing one, we still only have to run the matcher once.

I've removed the ITState.FirstCond variable, because it does not store

David Blaikie 2274808153 PR11740: Disable assembly debug info when assembly already contains line directives
If there is already debug info in the assembly file, and user hope to
use -g option for compiling, we think we should not directly report an
error.

According to what GNU assembler did, it just reused the debug info in
the assembly file, and turned off the DEBUG_TYPE option so that there
will be no new debug info emitted by assembler. This fix is just as what
GNU assembler did.

The concern is the situation that there are two .text sections in the
assembly file, one with debug info and the other one without. Currently
with this fix, the assembler will no longer generate any debug info for
the second .text section. And this is what GNU assembler exactly did for
this situation. So I think this still make some sense.

Lang Hames 1b640e05ba [MachO] Add MachO alt-entry directive support.
This patch adds support for the MachO .alt_entry assembly directive, and uses
it for global aliases with non-zero GEP offsets. The alt_entry flag indicates
that a symbol should be layed out immediately after the preceding symbol.
Conceptually it introduces an alternate entry point for a function or data
structure. E.g.:

safe_foo:
  // check preconditions for foo
.alt_entry fast_foo
fast_foo:
// body of foo, can assume preconditions.

The .alt_entry flag is also implicitly set on assembly aliases of the form:

a = b + C

where C is a non-zero constant, since these have the same effect as an
alt_entry symbol: they introduce a label that cannot be moved relative to the
preceding one. Setting the alt_entry flag on aliases of this form fixes
http://llvm.org/PR25381.

Marina Yatsina 5f5de9f89b [ms-inline-asm][AVX512] Add ability to use k registers in MS inline asm + fix bag with curly braces
Until now curly braces could only be used in MS inline assembly to mark block start/end.
All curly braces were removed completely at a very early stage.
This approach caused bugs like:
"m{o}v eax, ebx" turned into "mov eax, ebx" without any error.

In addition, AVX-512 added special operands (e.g., k registers), which are also surrounded by curly braces that mark them as such.
Now, we need to keep the curly braces and identify at a later stage if they are marking block start/end (if so, ignore them), or surrounding special AVX-512 operands (if so, parse them as such).

This patch fixes the bug described above and enables the use of AVX-512 special operands.

David Majnemer 408b5e6603 [MC] Add support for encoding CodeView variable definition ranges
CodeView, like most other debug formats, represents the live range of a
variable so that debuggers might print them out.

They use a variety of records to represent how a particular variable
might be available (in a register, in a frame pointer, etc.) along with
a set of ranges where this debug information is relevant.

However, the format only allows us to use ranges which are limited to a
maximum of 0xF000 in size. This means that we need to split our debug
information into chunks of 0xF000.

Because the layout of code is not known until *very* late, we must use a
new fragment to record the information we need until we can know
*exactly* what the range is.

CodeView requires us to accurately describe the extent of the inlined

Reid Kleckner c62e379d22 [CodeView] Use assembler directives for line tables
Adds a new family of .cv_* directives to LLVM's variant of GAS syntax:

- .cv_file: Similar to DWARF .file directives

- .cv_loc: Similar to the DWARF .loc directive, but starts with a
function id. CodeView line tables are emitted by function instead of
by compilation unit, so we needed an extra field to communicate this.
Rather than overloading the .loc direction further, we decided it was
better to have our own directive.

- .cv_stringtable: Emits the codeview string table at the current
position. Currently this just contains the filenames as
  null-terminated strings.

- .cv_filechecksums: Emits the file checksum table for all files used
with .cv_file so far. There is currently no support for emitting
  actual checksums, just filenames.

This moves the line table emission code down into the assembler. This
is in preparation for implementing the inlined call site line table
format. The inline line table format encoding algorithm requires knowing
the absolute code offsets, so it must run after the assembler has laid
out the code.

If a section is rw, it is irrelevant if the dynamic linker will write to
it or not.

It looks like llvm implemented this because gcc was doing it. It looks
like gcc implemented this in the hope that it would put all the
relocated items close together and speed up the dynamic linker.

There are two problem with this:
* It doesn't work. Both bfd and gold will map .data.rel to .data and
concatenate the input sections in the order they are seen.
* If we want a feature like that, it can be implemented directly in the
linker since it knowns where the dynamic relocations are.

Oliver Stannard 07b43d39a8 [Assembler] Allow non-fatal errors after parsing
This adds reportError to MCContext, which can be used as an alternative to
reportFatalError when the assembler wants to try to continue processing the
rest of the file after the error is reported, so that all of the errors ina
file can be reported. It records the fact that an error was encountered, so we
can avoid emitting an object file if any errors occurred.

This patch doesn't add any uses of this function (a later patch will convert
most uses of reportFatalError to use it), but there is a small functional
change: we use the SourceManager to print the error message, even if we have a
null SMLoc. This means that we get a SourceManager-style message, with the file
and line information shown as <unknown>, rather than the "LLVM ERROR" style
used by report_fatal_error.

Rafael Espindola 65e4902156 Drop prelink support.
The way prelink used to work was

* The compiler decides if a given section only has relocations that
are know to point to the same DSO. If so, it names it
.data.rel.ro.local<something>.
* The static linker puts all of these together.
* The prelinker program assigns addresses to each library and resolves
the local relocations.

There are many problems with this:
* It is incompatible with address space randomization.
* The information passed by the compiler is redundant. The linker
knows if a given relocation is in the same DSO or not. If could sort
by that if so desired.
* There are newer ways of speeding up DSO (gnu hash for example).
* Even if we want to implement this again in the compiler, the previous
implementation is pretty broken. It talks about relocations that are
"resolved by the static linker". If they are resolved, there are none
left for the prelinker. What one needs to track is if an expression
will require only dynamic relocations that point to the same DSO.

At this point it looks like the prelinker is an historical curiosity.
For example, fedora has retired it because it failed to build for two
releases
(http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/prelink.git/commit/?id=eb43100a8331d91c801ee3dcdb0a0bb9babfdc1f)

MCRelaxableFragment previously kept a copy of MCSubtargetInfo and

of MCSubtargetInfo (instead of a reference or pointer) was needed
because the feature bits could be modified by the parser.

This commit replaces the MCSubtargetInfo copy in MCRelaxableFragment
with a constant reference to MCSubtargetInfo. The copies of
MCSubtargetInfo are kept in MCContext, and the target parsers are now
responsible for asking MCContext to provide a copy whenever the feature

Akira Hatanaka 8ad7399f8e [MachO] Stop generating *coal* sections.
Recommit r250342: move coal-sections-powerpc.s to subdirectory for powerpc.

Some background on why we don't have to use *coal* sections anymore:
Long ago when C++ was new and "weak" had not been standardized, an attempt was
made in cctools to support C++ inlines that can be coalesced by putting them
into their own section (TEXT/textcoal_nt instead of TEXT/text).

The current macho linker supports the weak-def bit on any symbol to allow it to
be coalesced, but the compiler still puts weak-def functions/data into alternate
section names, which the linker must map back to the base section name.

This patch makes changes that are necessary to prevent the compiler from using
the "coal" sections and have it use the non-coal sections instead when the
target architecture is not powerpc:

TEXT/textcoal_nt instead use TEXT/text
TEXT/const_coal instead use TEXT/const
DATA/datacoal_nt instead use DATA/data

If the target is powerpc, we continue to use the *coal* sections since anyone
targeting powerpc is probably using an old linker that doesn't have support for
the weak-def bits.

Also, have the assembler issue a warning if it encounters a *coal* section in
the assembly file and inform the users to use the non-coal sections instead.

This reverts commit r245047.

It was failing on the darwin bots. The problem was that when running

./bin/llc -march=msp430

llc gets to

  if (TheTriple.getTriple().empty())
    TheTriple.setTriple(sys::getDefaultTargetTriple());

Which means that we go with an arch of msp430 but a triple of
x86_64-apple-darwin14.4.0 which fails badly.

That code has to be updated to select a triple based on the value of
march, but that is not a trivial fix.

Summary:
In an expression such as "(((a+b)+c)+d)", parseParenExpression() would only parse the "a+b)+c", which would result in an error later on in the parser.
This means that we can only parse one level of inner parentheses.

In order to fix this, I added a new function called parseParenExprOfDepth(), which parses a specified number of trailing parenthesis expressions
(except for the outermost parenthesis), and changed MipsAsmParser to use it in parseMemOffset instead of parseParenExpression().

Rafael Espindola 2f9bdd8c9f There is only one current section.
Both MCStreamer and MCObjectStreamer were maintaining a current section
variable and they were slightly out of sync. I don't think this was observable,
but was inefficient and error prone.

Changing this requires a few cascading changes:

* SwitchSection has to call ChangeSection earlier for ChangeSection to see
  the old section.
* With that change, ChangeSection cannot call EmitLabel, since during
ChangeSection we are still in the old section.
* When the object streamer requires a begin label, just reused the existing
generic support for begin labels instead of calling EmitLabel directly.

This starts merging MCSection and MCSectionData.

There are a few issues with the current split between MCSection and
MCSectionData.

* It optimizes the the not as important case. We want the production
of .o files to be really fast, but the split puts the information used
for .o emission in a separate data structure.

* The ELF/COFF/MachO hierarchy is not represented in MCSectionData,
leading to some ad-hoc ways to represent the various flags.

* It makes it harder to remember where each item is.

The attached patch starts merging the two by moving the alignment from
MCSectionData to MCSection.

Most of the patch is actually just dropping 'const', since
MCSectionData is mutable, but MCSection was not.

This patch was generated by a clang tidy checker that is being open sourced.
The documentation of that checker is the following:

/// The emptiness of a container should be checked using the empty method
/// instead of the size method. It is not guaranteed that size is a
/// constant-time function, and it is generally more efficient and also shows
/// clearer intent to use empty. Furthermore some containers may implement the
/// empty method but not implement the size method. Using empty whenever
/// possible makes it easier to switch to another container in the future.

Saleem Abdulrasool 4d6ed7c778 IAS: correct debug line info for asm macros
Correct the line information generation for preprocessed assembly. Although we
tracked the source information for the macro instantiation, we failed to account
for the fact that we were instantiating a macro, which is populated into a new
buffer and that the line information would be relative to the definition rather
than the actual instantiation location. This could cause the line number
associated with the statement to be very high due to wrapping of the difference
calculated for the preprocessor line information emitted into the stream.
Properly calculate the line for the macro instantiation, referencing the line
where the macro is actually used as GCC/gas do.

The test case uses x86, though the same problem exists on any other target using
the LLVM IAS.

Oliver Stannard 652ec6ee89 Emit .eh_frame with relocations to functions, rather than sections
When LLVM emits DWARF call frame information, it currently creates a local,
section-relative symbol in the code section, which is pointed to by a
relocation on the .eh_frame section. However, for C++ we emit some functions in
section groups, and the SysV ABI has some rules to make it easier to remove
these sections
(http://www.sco.com/developers/gabi/latest/ch4.sheader.html#section_group_rules):

A symbol table entry with STB_LOCAL binding that is defined relative to one
of a group's sections, and that is contained in a symbol table section that is
not part of the group, must be discarded if the group members are discarded.
References to this symbol table entry from outside the group are not allowed.

This means that we need to use the function symbol for the relocation, not a
temporary symbol.

There was a comment in the code claiming that the local symbol was used to
avoid creating a relocation, but a relocation must be created anyway as the
code and CFI are in different sections.

Alp Toker 614717388c Introduce a string_ostream string builder facilty
string_ostream is a safe and efficient string builder that combines opaque
stack storage with a built-in ostream interface.

small_string_ostream<bytes> additionally permits an explicit stack storage size
other than the default 128 bytes to be provided. Beyond that, storage is
transferred to the heap.

This convenient class can be used in most places an
std::string+raw_string_ostream pair or SmallString<>+raw_svector_ostream pair
would previously have been used, in order to guarantee consistent access
without byte truncation.

The patch also converts much of LLVM to use the new facility. These changes
include several probable bug fixes for truncated output, a programming error
that's no longer possible with the new interface.

Saleem Abdulrasool bdbc0088da MC: adjust text section flags for WoA
Correct the section flags for code built for Windows on ARM with
`-ffunction-sections`. Windows on ARM uses solely Thumb-2 instructions, and
indicates that the function is thumb by placing it in a text section that has
IMAGE_SCN_MEM_16BIT flag set.

When we encounter a .section directive, a new section is constructed. This may
be a text segment. In order to identify that we need the additional flag,
expose the target triple through the ObjectFileInfo as this information is lost
otherwise.

Since any modern ARM targeting environment on Windows would be Thumb-2 (Windows
ARM NT or Windows Embedded Compact), introducing a new flag to indicate the
section attribute seems to be a bit overkill. Simply depend on the target
triple. Since there is one location that this information is currently needed,
creating a target specific assembly parser and delegating the parsing of section
switches also feels a bit heavy handed. If it turns out that this information
ends up changing additional behaviour, then it may be worth considering that
alternative.

Rafael Espindola 0766ae08e5 Fix a few issues with comdat handling on COFF.
* Section association cannot use just the section name as many
sections can have the same name. With this patch, the comdat symbol in
an assoc section is interpreted to mean a symbol in the associated
section and the mapping is discovered from it.

* Comdat symbols were not being set correctly. Instead we were getting
whatever was output first for that section.

A consequence is that associative sections now must use .section to
set the association. Using .linkonce would not work since it is not
possible to change a sections comdat symbol (it is used to decide if
we should create a new section or reuse an existing one).

This includes r210298, which was reverted because it was asserting
on an associated section having the same comdat as the associated
section.

The previous deduping strategy was woefully inadequate - it only

It was also lacking when it came to directory paths as the previous

Until this point only macro definition with named parameters were parsed but the

In order to support the full semantics of the keyword arguments, the arguments
are no longer lazily initialised since the keyword arguments can be specified
out of order and partially if they are defaulted. Prepopulate the arguments
with the default value for any defaulted parameters, and then parse the
specified arguments.

This simplies some of the handling of the arguments in the inner loop since
empty arguments simply increment the parameter index and move on.

David Peixotto b9b7362cdc Fix PR18345: ldr= pseudo instruction produces incorrect code when using in inline assembly
This patch fixes the ldr-pseudo implementation to work when used in
inline assembly. The fix is to move arm assembler constant pools
from the ARMAsmParser class to the ARMTargetStreamer class.

Previously we kept the assembler generated constant pools in the
ARMAsmParser object. This does not work for inline assembly because
a new parser object is created for each blob of inline assembly.
This patch moves the constant pools to the ARMTargetStreamer class
so that the constant pool will remain alive for the entire code
generation process.

An ARMTargetStreamer class is now required for the arm backend.
There was no existing implementation for MachO, only Asm and ELF.
Instead of creating an empty MachO subclass, we decided to make the
ARMTargetStreamer a non-abstract class and provide default
(llvm_unreachable) implementations for the non constant-pool related
methods.

Reid Kleckner 7f10a8cd45 Fix miscompile of MS inline assembly with stack realignment
For stack frames requiring realignment, three pointers may be needed:
- ebp to address incoming arguments
- esi (could be any callee-saved register) to address locals
- esp to address outgoing arguments

We would use esi unconditionally without verifying that it did not
conflict with inline assembly.

This change doesn't do the verification, it simply emits a fatal error
on functions that use stack realignment, dynamic SP adjustments, and
inline assembly.

Because stack realignment is common on Windows, we also no longer assume
that MS inline assembly clobbers esp. Instead, we analyze the inline
instructions for implicit definitions and check if esp is there. If so,
we require the use of a base pointer and consider it in the condition
above.

Mostly fixes PR16830, but we could try harder to find a non-conflicting
base pointer.

David Peixotto 2cdc56d26b Integrated assembler incorrectly lexes ARM-style comments
The integrated assembler fails to properly lex arm comments when
they are adjacent to an identifier in the input stream. The reason
is that the arm comment symbol '@' is also used as symbol variant in
other assembly languages so when lexing an identifier it allows the
'@' symbol as part of the identifier.

Example:
  $ cat comment.s
  foo:
add r0, r0@got to parse this as a comment

  $ llvm-mc -triple armv7 comment.s
comment.s:4:18: error: unexpected token in argument list
add r0, r0@got to parse this as a comment
                   ^
This should be parsed as correctly as `add r0, r0`.

in identifiers when lexing for targets that use '@' for comments.

David Peixotto 8ad70b3542 Add support for parsing ARM symbol variants on ELF targets
ARM symbol variants are written with parens instead of @ like this:

  .word __GLOBAL_I_a(target1)

This commit adds support for parsing these symbol variants in
expressions. We introduce a new flag to MCAsmInfo that indicates the
parser should use parens to parse the symbol variant. The expression
parser is modified to look for symbol variants using parens instead
of @ when the corresponding MCAsmInfo flag is true.

The MCAsmInfo parens flag is enabled only for ARM on ELF.

By adding this flag to MCAsmInfo, we are able to get rid of
redundant ARM-specific symbol variants and use the generic variants
instead (e.g. VK_GOT instead of VK_ARM_GOT). We use the new
UseParensForSymbolVariant attribute in MCAsmInfo to correctly print
the symbol variants for arm.

To achive this we need to keep a handle to the MCAsmInfo in the
MCSymbolRefExpr class that we can check when printing the symbol
variant.

Hans Wennborg ce69d77cec MC asm parser: allow ?'s in symbol names, and handle @'s in names in MS asm
This is another (final?) stab at making us able to parse our own asm output

Symbols on Windows often contain @'s and ?'s in their names. Our asm parser
didn't like this. ?'s were not allowed, and @'s were intepreted as trying to

We can't just add quotes around the bad names, since e.g. for MinGW, we use gas

The reason this got reverted was that the @feat.00 symbol which was emitted

couldn't handle the quotes.

This commit fixes the problem by only emitting @feat.00 for win32, where we use
clang -cc1as to assemble. gas would just drop this symbol anyway, so there is no
loss there.

With @feat.00 gone, there shouldn't be quoted symbols showing up on cygwin since
it uses the Itanium ABI, which doesn't put these funny characters in symbols.

Jack Carter 721726adfc [MC][AsmParser] Hook for post assembly file processing
This patch handles LLVM standalone assembler (llvm-mc) ELF flag setting based on input file
directive processing.

Mips assembly requires processing inline directives that directly and
indirectly affect the output ELF header flags. This patch handles one
".abicalls".

To process these directives we are following the model the code generator
uses by storing state in a container as we go through processing and when
we detect the end of input file processing, AsmParser is notified and we
update the ELF header flags through a MipsELFStreamer method with a call from
MCTargetAsmParser::emitEndOfAsmFile(MCStreamer &OutStreamer).

This patch will allow other targets the same functionality.

David Majnemer 0c58bc64a4 MC: Add support for treating $ as a reference to the PC
The binutils assembler supports a mode called DOLLAR_DOT which treats
the dollar sign token as a reference to the current program counter if
the dollar sign doesn't precede a constant or identifier.

This commit adds a new MCAsmInfo flag stating whether or not a given
target supports this interpretation of the dollar sign token; by
default, this flag is not enabled.

Further, enable this flag for PPC. The system assembler for AIX and
binutils both support using the dollar sign in this manner.

This fixes PR17353.

Kevin Enderby 3aeada287b The integrated darwin assembler can hang in an infinite loop (or get an assert
with a debug build) with this buggy .indirect_symbol directive usage:

% cat test.s
x: .indirect_symbol _y

The assertion is because it is trying to get the symbol index for the
symbol _y when it is writing out the indirect symbol table. This line of
code in MachObjectWriter::WriteObject() :

        Write32(Asm.getSymbolData(*it->Symbol).getIndex());

And while there is a symbol _y it does not have any getSymbolData set which
is only done in MachObjectWriter::BindIndirectSymbols() for pointer sections
or stub sections. I added a check and an error in there to catch this in case
something slips through.

But to get a better error the parser should detect when a .indirect_symbol
directive is used and it is not in a pointer section or stub section. To make
that work I moved the handling of the indirect symbol out of the target
independent AsmParser code into the DarwinAsmParser code that can check
for the proper Mach-O section types.
