This will currently accept the old number of bytes syntax, and convert
it to a scalar. This should be removed in the near future (I think I
converted all of the tests already, but likely missed a few).
Not sure what the exact syntax and policy should be. We can continue
printing the number of bytes for non-generic instructions to avoid
test churn and only allow non-scalar types for generic instructions.
This will currently print the LLT in parentheses, but accept parsing
the existing integers and implicitly converting to scalar. The
parentheses are a bit ugly, but the parser logic seems unable to deal
without either parentheses or some keyword to indicate the start of a
type.
- Add standalone metadata parsing support so that machine metadata nodes
could be populated before and accessed during MIR is parsed.

Rewrites test to use correct architecture triple; fixes incorrect
reference in SourceLevelDebugging doc; simplifies `spillReg` behaviour
so as to not be dependent on changes elsewhere in the patch stack.

Memory operands store a base alignment that does not factor in
the effect of the offset on the alignment.
Previously the printing code only printed the base alignment if
it was different than the size. If there is an offset, the reader
would need to figure out the effective alignment themselves. This
has confused me before and someone else was recently confused on
IRC.
This patch prints the possibly offset adjusted alignment if it is
different than the size. And prints the base alignment if it is
different than the alignment. The MIR parser has been updated to
read basealign in addition to align.

Currently unknown keys when inputting mapping traits have the location set to the Value.

This hashing scheme has been useful out of tree, and I want to start
experimenting with it. Specifically I want to experiment on the
MIRVRegNamer, MIRCanononicalizer, and eventually the MachineOutliner.
This diff is a first step, that optionally brings stable hashing to the
MIRVRegNamer (and as a result, the MIRCanonicalizer). We've tested this
hashing scheme on a lot of MachineOperand types that llvm::hash_value
can not handle in a stable manner.
This stable hashing was also the basis for

Summary:
Verify that each DBG_VALUE has a debug location. This is required by
LiveDebugValues, and perhaps by other late passes.
There's an exception for tests: lots of tests use a two-operand form of
DBG_VALUE for convenience. There's no reason to prevent that.

The immediate used for the regdef is the encoding for the register
class in the enum generated by tablegen. This encoding will change
any time a new register class is added. Since the number is part
of the input, this means it can become stale.
This change modifies some test to avoid this kind of immediate
all together. And updates one test to use the current encoding of
GR64.
Summary:
The INLINEASM MIR instructions use immediate operands to encode the values of some operands.
The MachineInstr pretty printer function already handles those operands and prints human readable annotations instead of the immediates. This patch adds similar annotations to the output of the MIRPrinter, however uses the new MIROperandComment feature.

Previously, since bots turning on EXPENSIVE_CHECKS are essentially turning on
MachineVerifierPass by default on X86 and the fact that
inline-asm-avx-v-constraint-32bit.ll and inline-asm-avx512vl-v-constraint-32bit.ll
are not expected to generate functioning machine code, this would go
down to `report_fatal_error` in MachineVerifierPass. Here passing
`-verify-machineinstrs=0` to make the intent explicit.
This reverts commit 80a34ae311 with fixes.
On bots llvm-clang-x86_64-expensive-checks-ubuntu and
llvm-clang-x86_64-expensive-checks-debian only,
llc returns 0 for these two tests unexpectedly. I tweaked the RUN line a little
bit in the hope that LIT is the culprit since this change is not in the
codepath these tests are testing.

There are issues to be investigated for polly bots and bots turning on
EXPENSIVE_CHECKS.
Summary:
This patch could be treated as a rebase of D33960. It also fixes PR35547.
A fix for `llvm/test/Other/close-stderr.ll` is proposed in D68164. Seems
the consensus is that the test is passing by chance and I'm not
sure how important it is for us. So it is removed like in D33960 for now.
The rest of the test fixes are just adding `--crash` flag to `not` tool.
** The reason it fixes PR35547 is
`exit` does cleanup including calling class destructor whereas `abort`
does not do any cleanup. In multithreading environment such as ThinLTO or JIT,
threads may share states which mostly are ManagedStatic<>. If faulting thread
tearing down a class when another thread is using it, there are chances of
memory corruption. This is bad 1. It will stop error reporting like pretty
stack printer; 2. The memory corruption is distracting and nondeterministic in
terms of error message, and corruption type (depending one the timing, it
could be double free, heap free after use, etc.).

This patch makes it so that cases where multiple instructions that differ only
in their FrameIndex MachineOperand values no longer collide. For instance:

An interplay of code from D70210, along with code from the
Value-Numbering-esque hash-based namer from D70210, as well as some
crusty code from the original MIR-Canon code lead to multiple causes of
failure when canonicalizing or renaming vregs for MIR with multiple
basic blocks. This patch fixes those issues while deleting some no
longer needed code and adding a nice diamond test case to boot.

This patch adds MXCSR as a reserved physical register and models its use
by X86 SSE instructions. It also adds flag "mayRaiseFPException" for the
instructions that possibly can raise FP exception according to the
architecture definition.
Following what SystemZ and other targets does, only the current rounding
modes and the IEEE exception masks are modeled. *Changes* of the MXCSR
due to exceptions are not modeled.

Use the existing helper function in BranchFolding, "countsAsInstruction",
to skip over non-instructions. Otherwise debug instructions can be
identified as the last real instruction in a block, leading to different
codegen decisions when debug is enabled as demonstrated by the test case.

This improves readability of Windows path string literals in LLVM IR.
The LLVM assembler has supported \\ in IR strings for a long time, but
the lexer doesn't tolerate escaped quotes, so they have to be printed as
\22 for now.

MCP currently uses changeDebugValuesDefReg / collectDebugValues to find
debug users of a register, however those functions assume that all
DBG_VALUEs immediately follow the specified instruction, which isn't
necessarily true. This is going to become very often untrue when we turn
off CodeGenPrepare::placeDbgValues.
Instead of calling changeDebugValuesDefReg on an instruction to change its
debug users, in this patch we instead collect DBG_VALUEs of copies as we
iterate over insns, and update the debug users of copies that are made
dead. This isn't a non-functional change, because MCP will now update
DBG_VALUEs that aren't immediately after a copy, but refer to the same
register. I've hijacked the regression test for PR38773 to test for this
new behaviour, an entirely new test seemed overkill.

Rename the old versions that use FR32/FR64 to MOVSSrm_alt/MOVSDrm_alt.
Use the new versions in patterns that previously used a COPY_TO_REGCLASS
to VR128. These patterns expect the upper bits to be zero. The
current set up appears to work, but I'm not sure we should be
enforcing upper bits being zero through a COPY_TO_REGCLASS.
I wanted to flip the arrangement and use a COPY_TO_REGCLASS to
FR32/FR64 for the patterns that need an f32/f64 result, but that
complicated fastisel and globalisel.
I've been doing some experiments with reducing some isel patterns
and ended up in a situation where I had a
(SUBREG_TO_REG (COPY_TO_RECLASS (VMOVSSrm), VR128)) and our
post-isel peephole was unable to avoid using an instruction for
the SUBREG_TO_REG due to the COPY_TO_REGCLASS. Having a VR128
instruction removes the COPY_TO_REGCLASS that was breaking this.

This patch changes MIR stack-id from an integer to an enum,
and adds printing/parsing support for this in MIR files. The default
stack-id '0' is now renamed to 'default'.
This should make MIR tests that have stack objects with different stack-ids
more descriptive. It also clarifies code operating on StackID.

We use both -long-option and --long-option in tests. Switch to --long-option for consistency.
In the "llvm-readelf" mode, -long-option is discouraged as it conflicts with grouped short options and it is not accepted by GNU readelf.
While updating the tests, change llvm-readobj -s to llvm-readobj -S to reduce confusion ("s" is --section-headers in llvm-readobj but --symbols in llvm-readelf).

This avoids needing an isel pattern for each condition code. And it removes translation switches for converting between Jcc instructions and condition codes.
Now the printer, encoder and disassembler take care of converting the immediate. We use InstAliases to handle the assembly matching. But we print using the asm string in the instruction definition. The instruction itself is marked IsCodeGenOnly=1 to hide it from the assembly parser.

Summary:
FPCW contains the rounding mode control which we manipulate to implement fp to integer conversion by changing the roudning mode, storing the value to the stack, and then changing the rounding mode back. Because we didn't model FPCW and its dependency chain, other instructions could be scheduled into the middle of the sequence.
This patch introduces the register and adds it as an implciit def of FLDCW and implicit use of the FP binary arithmetic instructions and store instructions. There are more instructions that need to be updated, but this is a good start. I believe this fixes at least the reduced test case from PR40529.
