Sanjay Patel 7558d860af [InstCombine] (lshr X, 31) * Y --> (ashr X, 31) & Y
This replaces the bit-tracking based fold that did the same thing,
but it only worked for scalars and not directly.

There is no evidence in existing regression tests that the greater
power of bit-tracking was needed here, but we should be aware of
this potential loss of optimization.

Sanjay Patel 14adbacd8a [InstCombine] fix miscompile of frem with 0.0 operand (PR34870)

Sanjay Patel 629c411538 [IR] redefine 'UnsafeAlgebra' / 'reassoc' fast-math-flags and add 'trans' fast-math-flag
As discussed on llvm-dev:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2016-November/107104.html
and again more recently:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-October/118118.html

...this is a step in cleaning up our fast-math-flags implementation in IR to better match
the capabilities of both clang's user-visible flags and the backend's flags for SDNode.

As proposed in the above threads, we're replacing the 'UnsafeAlgebra' bit (which had the
'umbrella' meaning that all flags are set) with a new bit that only applies to algebraic
reassociation - 'AllowReassoc'.

We're also adding a bit to allow approximations for library functions called 'ApproxFunc'
(this was initially proposed as 'libm' or similar).

...and we're out of bits. 7 bits ought to be enough for anyone, right? :) FWIW, I did
look at getting this out of SubclassOptionalData via SubclassData (spacious 16-bits),
but that's apparently already used for other purposes. Also, I don't think we can just
add a field to FPMathOperator because Operator is not intended to be instantiated.
We'll defer movement of FMF to another day.

We keep the 'fast' keyword. I thought about removing that, but seeing IR like this:
%f.fast = fadd reassoc nnan ninf nsz arcp contract afn float %op1, %op2
...made me think we want to keep the shortcut synonym.

Finally, this change is binary incompatible with existing IR as seen in the
compatibility tests. This statement:
"Newer releases can ignore features from older releases, but they cannot miscompile
them. For example, if nsw is ever replaced with something else, dropping it would be
a valid way to upgrade the IR."
...provides the flexibility we want to make this change without requiring a new IR
version. Ie, we're not loosening the FP strictness of existing IR. At worst, we will
fail to optimize some previously 'fast' code because it's no longer recognized as
'fast'. This should get fixed as we audit/squash all of the uses of 'isFast()'.

Note: an inter-dependent clang commit to use the new API name should closely follow
commit.

Quentin Colombet aa103b3d86 [InstCombine] Add select simplifications
In these cases, two selects have constant selectable operands for
both the true and false components and have the same conditional
expression.
We then create two arithmetic operations of the same type and feed a
final select operation using the result of the true arithmetic for the true
operand and the result of the false arithmetic for the false operand and reuse
the original conditionl expression.
The arithmetic operations are naturally folded as a consequence, leaving
only the newly formed select to replace the old arithmetic operation.

Andrea Di Biagio a82d52d11d [InstCombine] Teach the udiv folding logic how to handle constant expressions.
This patch fixes PR30366.

Function foldUDivShl() worked under the assumption that one of the values
in input to the function was always an instance of llvm::Instruction.
However, function visitUDivOperand() (the only user of foldUDivShl) was
clearly violating that precondition; internally, visitUDivOperand() uses pattern
matches to check the operands of a udiv. Pattern matchers for binary operators
know how to handle both Instruction and ConstantExpr values.

This patch fixes the problem in foldUDivShl(). Now we use pattern matchers
instead of explicit casts to Instruction. The reduced test case from PR30366
has been added to test file InstCombine/udiv-simplify.ll.

David Majnemer 135ca40a7d [InstCombine] Don't divide by zero when evaluating a potential transform
Trivial multiplication by zero may survive the worklist. We tried to
reassociate the multiplication with a division instruction, causing us
to divide by zero; bail out instead.

Mehdi Amini a28d91d81b DataLayout is mandatory, update the API to reflect it with references.
Summary:
Now that the DataLayout is a mandatory part of the module, let's start
cleaning the codebase. This patch is a first attempt at doing that.

This patch is not exactly NFC as for instance some places were passing
a nullptr instead of the DataLayout, possibly just because there was a
default value on the DataLayout argument to many functions in the API.
Even though it is not purely NFC, there is no change in the
validation.

I turned as many pointer to DataLayout to references, this helped
figuring out all the places where a nullptr could come up.

I had initially a local version of this patch broken into over 30
independant, commits but some later commit were cleaning the API and
touching part of the code modified in the previous commits, so it
seemed cleaner without the intermediate state.

Chandler Carruth a917458203 [PM] Rename InstCombine.h to InstCombineInternal.h in preparation for
creating a non-internal header file for the InstCombine pass.

I thought about calling this InstCombiner.h or in some way more clearly
associating it with the InstCombiner clas that it is primarily defining,
but there are several other utility interfaces defined within this for
InstCombine. If, in the course of refactoring, those end up moving
elsewhere or going away, it might make more sense to make this the
combiner's header alone.

Naturally, this is a bikeshed to a certain degree, so feel free to lobby
for a different shade of paint if this name just doesn't suit you.

Chandler Carruth 66b3130cda [PM] Split the AssumptionTracker immutable pass into two separate APIs:
a cache of assumptions for a single function, and an immutable pass that
manages those caches.

The motivation for this change is two fold. Immutable analyses are
really hacks around the current pass manager design and don't exist in
the new design. This is usually OK, but it requires that the core logic
of an immutable pass be reasonably partitioned off from the pass logic.
This change does precisely that. As a consequence it also paves the way
for the *many* utility functions that deal in the assumptions to live in
both pass manager worlds by creating an separate non-pass object with
its own independent API that they all rely on. Now, the only bits of the
system that deal with the actual pass mechanics are those that actually
need to deal with the pass mechanics.

Once this separation is made, several simplifications become pretty
obvious in the assumption cache itself. Rather than using a set and
callback value handles, it can just be a vector of weak value handles.
The callers can easily skip the handles that are null, and eventually we
can wrap all of this up behind a filter iterator.

For now, this adds boiler plate to the various passes, but this kind of
boiler plate will end up making it possible to port these passes to the
new pass manager, and so it will end up factored away pretty reasonably.

We assumed that A must be greater than B because the right hand side of
a remainder operator must be nonzero.

two greater than 1.
