V Donaldson 27d666b9ad [flang] Noncontiguous formats
Add the remaining pieces to support IO for noncontigous formats.
This is done by passing an array descriptor to IO calls. Scalar
formats continue to pass string and length arguments. IO calls
with formats are modified to place the new format descriptor
argument directly after the original string and length arguments.

Peter Klausler cea8b8a72d [flang][runtime] Don't pad CHARACTER input at end of record unless PAD='YES'
When formatted CHARACTER input runs into the end of an input record,
the runtime usually fills the remainder of the variable with spaces,
but this should be conditional, and not done when PAD='NO'.

And while here, add some better comments to two members of connection.h
to make their non-obvious relationship more clear.

Jean Perier c58c64d05c [flang] Add runtime API to catch unit number out of range
Unit numbers must fit on a default integer. It is however possible that
the user provides the unit number in UNIT with a wider integer type.
In such case, lowering was previously silently narrowing
the value and passing the result to the BeginXXX runtime entry points.
Cases where the conversion caused overflow were not reported/caught.
Most existing compilers catch these errors and raise an IO error.
Add a CheckUnitNumberInRange runtime API to do the same in f18.

This runtime API has its own error management interface (i.e., does not
use GetIoMsg, EndIo, and EnableHandlers) because the usual error
management requires BeginXXX to be called to set up the error
management. But in this case, the BeginXXX cannot be called since
the bad unit number that would be provided to it overflew (and in the worst
case scenario, the narrowed value could point to a different valid unit
already in use). Hence I decided to make an API that must be called
before the BeginXXX and should trigger the whole BeginXXX/.../EndIoStatement
to be skipped in case the unit number is too big and the user enabled
error recovery.

Note that CheckUnitNumberInRange accepts negative numbers (as long as
they can fit on a default integer), because unit numbers may be negative
if they were created by NEWUNIT.

Peter Klausler bafbae238a [flang] Initial UTF-8 support in runtime I/O
Implements UTF-8 encoding and decoding for external units
with OPEN(ENCODING='UTF-8'). This encoding applies to default
CHARACTER values that are not 7-bit ASCII as well as to
the wide CHARACTER kinds 2 and 4. Basic testing is in place
via direct calls to the runtime I/O APIs, but serious checkout
awaits lowering support of the wide CHARACTER kinds.

Peter Klausler 991696c2eb [flang] Debugging of ACCESS='STREAM' I/O (take 2)
Corrects the runtime implementation of I/O on files with
the access mode ACCESS='STREAM'. This is a collection
of edge-case tweaks to ensure that the distinctions between
stream and direct/sequential files, unformatted or formatted,
are respected where appropriate.

Moves NextInField() from io-stmt.h to io-stmt.cpp --
it was getting too big to keep in a header.

This patch exposed a problem with the I/O runtime
on Windows and it was reverted. This version also
fixes that problem; files are now opened on Windows
in binary mode to prevent inadvertent insertions of
carriage returns before line feeds, and those line
endings (CR+LF) are now explicitly generated.

Peter Klausler ac4202fe9d [flang] Signal runtime error on WRITE after ENDFILE
After an ENDFILE statement, a WRITE is an error without
a prior BACKSPACE. Also fix the return value for the case
of formatted integer input with no input digits to be false
(exposed by new test).

V Donaldson ea8cdf322f [flang] Fix a bug in INQUIRE(IOLENGTH=) output
The inquire by output list form of the INQUIRE statement calculates the
number of file storage units that would be required to store the data
of an output list in an unformatted file. Currently, the result is
incorrectly multiplied by the number of bytes for a data type. A query
for "INTEGER(KIND=4) A(10)" should be 40, not 160.

Update formatting.

Jean Perier 2e65c8e8db [flang] Allow write after non advancing read in IO runtime
1. To avoid overwriting the part of the record read in the non advancing read,
the furtherPositionInRecord field must be set to the max of the
furtherPositionInRecord and the positionInRecord at the beginning of the
IO write.

2. To allow any further read to succeed after the write, the unit
beganReadingRecord_ must be set to false when resetting the recordLength
during the write, otherwise, recordLength will not be computed in further
read and an assert is hit (at unit.cpp(398)).

The added unit test exercises both of these scenarios.

peter klausler 4393e3776b [flang] Implement READ(SIZE=) and INQUIRE(IOLENGTH=) in runtime
Count input characters corresponding to formatted edit descriptors
for READ(SIZE=); count output bytes for INQUIRE(IOLENGTH=).

The I/O APIs GetSize() and GetLength() were adjusted to return
std::size_t as function results.

Basic unit tests were added (and others fixed).

Jean Perier 05b4e49a17 [flang] Signal EOR in non advancing IO and move to next record
When an end of record is met in non advancing IO:
- Set IOSTAT if present according to 12.11.4 (5).
- Position the file to the next record (12.11.4 (4)).

The previous code was only signaling EOR for fixed record length IO.
Reading at 12.11.4, I do not find the rational for this condition, so I
removed it.
It also does not seem the presence of padding should prevent
the EOR signaling.

The positionning to the next record was block when EOR is signaling
in FinishReadingRecord because ErrorHandler.isError() is true in this
case.
EOR in input is not an error, but I am not confident to modify
ErrorHandler.isError() to cover that. However, In FinishReadingRecord,
the code should not bail if the error is simply an end of record.

I did not check the SIZE requirements here because GetSize runtime is
not yet implemented.

Peter Klausler 830c0b9023 [flang] Move runtime API headers to flang/include/flang/Runtime
Move the closure of the subset of flang/runtime/*.h header files that
are referenced by source files outside flang/runtime (apart from unit tests)
into a new directory (flang/include/flang/Runtime) so that relative
include paths into ../runtime need not be used.

flang/runtime/pgmath.h.inc is moved to flang/include/flang/Evaluate;
it's not used by the runtime.

Asher Mancinelli 65436e6ba1 [flang] Move External IO tests to use GTest
Port external-io test to use GTest. Remove Runtime tests directory.
Rename RuntimeGTest directory to Runtime.

This is the last in a series of patches which ported tests from the old
flang/unittests/Runtime test directory to use GTest in a temporary
unittest directory under flang/unittests/RuntimeGTest. Now that all the
tests in the old directory have been ported to use GTest, the old
directory has been removed and the GTest directory has been renamed to
flang/unittests/Runtime.
