Tom Stellard 18bf626cf7 llvm-config: Add --has-rtti option
Summary:
This prints NO if LLVM was built with -fno-rtti or an equivalent flag
and YES otherwise. The reasons to add -has-rtti rather than adding -fno-rtti
to --cxxflags are:

1. Building LLVM with -fno-rtti does not always mean that client
applications need this flag.

2. Some compilers have a different flag for disabling rtti, and the
compiler being used to build LLVM may not be the compiler being used to
build the application.

David Blaikie 3830d68bc1 Enable -Wdeprecated in the cmake build now that LLVM (& Clang, Polly, and LLD) are -Wdeprecated clean
This particularly helps enforce the C++ Rule of 5 (for new move ops this
is already an error, but for a type only using C++98 features (copy
ctor/assign, dtor) it is only deprecated, not invalid)

Applying the flag for any GCC compatible compiler - GCC doesn't warn on
the Rule of 5 cases that C++11 deprecates, but it doesn't have other
false positives so far as I could see (compiling with GCC 4.8 didn't
produce any -Wdeprecated warnings I could spot).

Joseph Tremoulet e5e75afe8f [CMake] Flag recursive cmake invocations for cross-compile
Summary:
Cross-compilation uses recursive cmake invocations to build native host
tools. These recursive invocations only forward a fixed set of
variables/options, since the native environment is generally the default.
This change adds -DLLVM_TARGET_IS_CROSSCOMPILE_HOST=TRUE to the recursive
cmake invocations, so that cmake files can distinguish these recursive
invocations from top-level ones, which can explain why expected options
are unset.

LLILC will use this to avoid trying to generate its build rules in the
crosscompile native host target (where it is not needed), which would fail
if attempted because LLILC requires a cmake variable passed on the command
line, which is not forwarded in the recursive invocation.

Andrew Wilkins bb6d95fc3a [cmake] rework LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB option handling
Summary:
This diff attempts to address the concerns raised in
http://reviews.llvm.org/D12488.

We introduce a new USE_SHARED option to llvm_config,
which, if set, causes the target to be linked against
libLLVM.

add_llvm_utility now uniformly disables linking against
libLLVM. These utilities are not intended for distribution,
and this keeps the option handling more centralised.

llvm-shlib is now processes before any other "tools"
subdirectories, ensuring the libLLVM target is defined
before its dependents.

One main difference from what was requested: llvm_config
does not prune LLVM_DYLIB_COMPONENTS from the components
passed into explicit_llvm_config. This is because the "all"
component does something special, adding additional
libraries (namely libLTO). Adding the component libraries
after libLLVM should not be a problem, as symbols will be
resolved in libLLVM first.

Finally, I'm not really happy with the
DISABLE_LLVM_LINK_LLVM option, but I'm not sure of a
better way to get the following:
 - link all tools and shared libraries to libLLVM if
   LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB is set
 - some way of explicitly *not* doing so for utilities
   and libLLVM itself
Suggestions for improvement here are particularly welcome.

Currently, if you call cmake with a typo in an LLVM_USE_SANITIZER

Andrew Wilkins 9211396d82 Enable linking tools, shared libraries against libLLVM
Summary:
Three closely related changes, to have a mode in which we link all
executables and shared libraries against libLLVM.

1. Add a new LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB cmake option, which, when ON, will link
executables and shared libraries against libLLVM. For this to work, it
is necessary to also set LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB and LLVM_DYLIB_EXPORT_ALL.

It is not strictly necessary to set LLVM_DISABLE_LLVM_DYLIB_ATEXIT, but
we also default to OFF in this mode, or tools tend to misbehave (e.g.
stdout may not flush on exit when output is buffered.)

llvm-config and Tablegen do not use libLLVM, as they are dependencies of
   libLLVM.

2. Modify llvm-go to take a new flag, "linkmode=component-libs|dylib".
Depending on which one is passed (default is component-libs), we link
with the individual libraries or libLLVM respectively. We pass in dylib
   when LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB is ON.

3. Fix LLVM_DYLIB_EXPORT_ALL on Linux, and expand the symbols exported to
actually export all. Don't strip leading underscore from symbols on Linux,
and make sure we get all exported symbols and weak-with-default symbols
("W" in nm output). Without these changes, passes won't load because
the "Annotate..." symbols defined in lib/Support/Valigrind.cpp are not
   found.

Testing:
 - Ran default build ("ninja") with LLVM, clang, compiler-rt, llgo, lldb.
 - Ran "check", "check-clang", "check-tsan", "check-libgo" targets. I've
never had much success with LLDB tests, and llgoi is currently broken
so check-llgo fails for an unrelated reason.
 - Ran "lldb" to ensure it loads.

Dan Liew 1e3dc527ea Filter libraries that are not installed out of CMake exports (currently
gtest and gtest_main) when generating ``Makefile.llvmbuild``.

Libraries that are not installed should not be exported because they
won't be available from an install tree. Rather than filtering out the
gtest libraries in cmake/modules/Makefile, simply teach llvm-build to
filter out libraries that will not be installed from its generated list
of exported libraries.

Note that LLVMBUILD_LIB_DEPS_* are used during our own CMake build
process so we cannot filter LLVMBUILD_LIB_DEPS_gtest* out in llvm-build.
We must leave this gtest filter logic in cmake/modules/Makefile.

Move `LLVM_LIBS_TO_EXPORT` over to Makefile.llvmbuild and generate it

This refactoring was originally motivated by issue #24154 due to commit

to not have the individual libraries when we configure with

Re-landing r242059 which re-landed r241621... I'm really bad at this.

Summary (r242059):
This change re-lands r241621, with an additional fix that was required to allow tool sources to live outside the llvm checkout. It also no longer renames LLVM_EXTERNAL_*_SOURCE_DIR. This change was reverted in r241663, because it renamed several variables of the format LLVM_EXTERNAL_*_* to LLVM_TOOL_*_*.

Summary (r241621):
The tools CMakeLists file already had implicit tool registration, but there were a few things off about it that needed to be altered to make it work. This change addresses all that. The changes in this patch are:

* factored out canonicalizing tool names from paths to CMake variables * removed the LLVM_IMPLICIT_PROJECT_IGNORE mechanism in favor of LLVM_EXTERNAL_${nameUPPER}_BUILD which I renamed to LLVM_TOOL_${nameUPPER}_BUILD because it applies to internal and external tools
* removed ignore_llvm_tool_subdirectory() in favor of just setting LLVM_TOOL_${nameUPPER}_BUILD to Off
* Added create_llvm_tool_options() to resolve a bug in add_llvm_external_project() - the old LLVM_EXTERNAL_${nameUPPER}_BUILD would not work on a clean CMake directory because the option could be created after it was set in code.
* Removed all but the minimum required calls to add_llvm_external_project from tools/CMakeLists.txt

Chris Bieneman 3da1b6e260 [CMake] We shouldn't be storing values in the cache unless they actually need CMake cache behavior.
add_llvm_external_project puts LLVM_EXTERNAL_${nameUPPER}_SOURCE_DIR into the cache even if it is just the in-tree default path. This causes all sorts of oddness, and makes it so that I can't change the behavior of this variable.

This patch never puts LLVM_EXTERNAL_${nameUPPER}_SOURCE_DIR into the cache. It will only end up in the cache if it is specified on the command line, which is the correct behavior.

There is also a temporary change to remove non-default values from the cache if they are already present. This should have the impact of cleaning out unncecissary values from the caches on the buildbots and people's local build directories. This part of the change is marked with a TODO and can be removed in a few days.

Chris Bieneman 8ac6d119b7 [CMake] Cleanup tools/CMakeLists.txt to take advantage of the auto-registration that was already partially working.
Summary:
This change re-lands r241621, with an additional fix that was required to allow tool sources to live outside the llvm checkout. It also no longer renames LLVM_EXTERNAL_*_SOURCE_DIR. This change was reverted in r241663, because it renamed several variables of the format LLVM_EXTERNAL_*_* to LLVM_TOOL_*_*.

Original Summary:

Dan Liew e9225da769 [CMake] Make the CMake files (LLVMConfig.cmake and LLVMExports.cmake)
generated by the Autoconf/Makefile build system relocatable.

Previously the generated CMake files contained hardcoded paths which
prevented a binary installation from being relocated to a different
place in the file system. This problem was most noticeable in LLVM's
official binary releases which were completely unusable by a downstream
project trying to import the CMake targets.

Package maintainers who choose to modify the install location of the
CMake directory without using the ``PROJ_cmake`` Makefile variable
override will need to patch the generated``LLVMConfig.cmake`` so that
``LLVM_INSTALL_PREFIX`` and ``_LLVM_CMAKE_DIR`` variables are set
correctly.

CMake files and should not be by both build systems and also the targets
were also installed by the CMake build system which they should not be.

The problem was that

- the CMake build of LLVM installs and exports the gtest library
targets. We should not being doing this, these are not part of LLVM.

- the Autoconf/Makefile build of LLVM still had gtest libraries in the
installed LLVMConfig.cmake.

These problems would cause problems for an external project because when
calling llvm_map_components_to_libnames(XXX all) ${XXX} would to contain
LLVM's internal gtest libraries.

Chris Bieneman 3eddcaec95 [CMake] Fix for PR 23328: LLVM_OPTIMIZED_TABLEGEN broken
In CMake dependencies can be filenames or targets, and targets can't be filenames. The Ninja generator handles filename dependencies because it generates targets for every output file from a command. For example:

add_custom_command(OUTPUT foo.txt COMMAND touch foo.txt)

With the Ninja generator this generates a target foo.txt, but with the Makefile generator it doesn't. This is probably because Ninja explicitly requires these hard dependency ties, and Make just behaves oddly in general.

To fix this we need to make the tablegen actions depend on a target rather than a filename.

This means it can only take one parameter from the set of RUNTIME, LIBRARY, or ARCHIVE. If you set more than one of these it seems to gobble up the extra arguments and ignore the COMPONENT argument.

This adds a check to only set LIBRARY or ARCHIVE based on whether or not the library being built is shared.

This patch is an attempt at making `DenseMapIterator`s "fail-fast".
Fail-fast iterators that have been invalidated due to insertion into

issues.

Enabling fail-fast iterators breaks the LLVM C++ ABI, so they are
predicated on `LLVM_ENABLE_ABI_BREAKING_CHECKS`.
`LLVM_ENABLE_ABI_BREAKING_CHECKS` by default flips with
`LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTS`, but can be clamped to ON or OFF using the CMake /

The MSVC linker won't produce a .lib file for an executable that doesn't

CMake 3.2 changed the Ninja generator to list both the .exe and .lib
files as outputs of executable build targets. Ninja would always re-link
executables with ENABLE_EXPORTS because the .lib output file was not
present, and therefore the target was out of date.

Kostya Serebryany be5e0ed919 [sanitizer/coverage] Add AFL-style coverage counters (search heuristic for fuzzing).
Introduce -mllvm -sanitizer-coverage-8bit-counters=1
which adds imprecise thread-unfriendly 8-bit coverage counters.

The run-time library maps these 8-bit counters to 8-bit bitsets in the same way
AFL (http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/afl/technical_details.txt) does:
counter values are divided into 8 ranges and based on the counter
value one of the bits in the bitset is set.
The AFL ranges are used here: 1, 2, 3, 4-7, 8-15, 16-31, 32-127, 128+.

These counters provide a search heuristic for single-threaded
coverage-guided fuzzers, we do not expect them to be useful for other purposes.

Depending on the value of -fsanitize-coverage=[123] flag,
these counters will be added to the function entry blocks (=1),
every basic block (=2), or every edge (=3).

Use these counters as an optional search heuristic in the Fuzzer library.
Add a test where this heuristic is critical.

Zachary Turner aeedd65c64 Teach llvm_add_library() to find include dirs.
Since header files are not compilation units, CMake does not require
you to specify them in the CMakeLists.txt file. As a result, unless a
header file is explicitly added, CMake won't know about it, and when
generating IDE-based projects, CMake won't put the header files into
the IDE project. LLVM currently tries to deal with this in two ways:

  1) It looks for all .h files that are in the project directory, and
     adds those.
  2) llvm_add_library() understands the ADDITIONAL_HEADERS argument,
which allows one to list an arbitrary list of headers.

This patch takes things one step further. It adds the ability for
llvm_add_library() to take an ADDITIONAL_HEADER_DIRS argument, which
will specify a list of folders which CMake will glob for header files.
Furthermore, it will glob not only for .h files, but also for .inc
files.

Included in this CL is an update to one of the existing users of
ADDITIONAL_HEADERS to use this new argument instead, to serve as an
illustration of how this cleans up the CMake.

The big advantage of this new approach is that until now, there was no
way for the IDE projects to locate the header files that are in the
include tree. In other words, if you are in, for example,
lib/DebugInfo/DWARF, the corresponding includes for this project will
be located under include/llvm/DebugInfo/DWARF. Now, in the
CMakeLists.txt for lib/DebugInfo/DWARF, you can simply write:

  ADDITIONAL_HEADER_DIRS
  ../../include/llvm/DebugInfo/DWARF

as an argument to llvm_add_library(), and all header files will get
added to the IDE project.

A shared library (unlike a .a), has its dependencies recorded in the library and
we can pass PRIVATE to target_link_libraries.

BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON. For example, we go from

build lib/CodeGen/CMakeFiles/LLVMCodeGen.dir/AggressiveAntiDepBreaker.cpp.o:

In fact, build.ninja goes from 5231028 bytes to 4896759 bytes.

With this, old verisons of bfd ld (2.24 is OK, 2.23 warns) will print a bogus

Reid Kleckner 19cb171ee1 Suppress MSVC's equivalent of -Wshadow warnings
IMO we need to clean up some of these, but the member variable one
(C4458) has false positives on static methods. It is currently firing
on Twine, which has a static method like:
  struct Twine {
    uintptr_t LHS, RHS;
    static void staticMethod() {
// warning C4458: declaration of 'LHS' hides class member
      uintptr_t LHS;
      ...

  };

We should fix up clang's -Wshadow and clean it up, and then we can
re-enable some of these MSVC warnings.

When --enable_shared is passed the Makefile.rules does not set the
LLVMConfigLibs variable which cmake/modules/Makefile previously relied
on. Now it runs the llvm-config command itself to get the library names.

This still isn't perfect because the generated LLVM targets refer to the
static libraries and not the shared library but that is much larger
problem to fix.

The basic idea is similar to the existing cross compilation support. A directory must be configured to build host versions of tablegen tools and llvm-config. This directory can be user provided (and configured), or it can be created during the build. During a build the native build directory will be configured and built to supply the tablegen tools used during the build. A user could also explicitly provide the tablegen executables to run on the CMake command line.

When LLVM_ENABLE_TIMESTAMPS has been disabled we can prevent the preprocessor
from embedding dates, times and file timestamps.

There are a few motivations for this:

  1) Validate the recent CMake feature detection bugfix from LLVM r212586 with
a flag that's not actually available everywhere.

  2) Dogfood clang's new -Wdate-time warning from r210511 when bootstrapping.

Alp Toker 0068397f34 CMake: fix compiler feature detection
add_flag_if_supported() and add_flag_or_print_warning() were effectively
no-ops, just returning the value of the first result (usually
'-fno-omit-frame-pointer') for all subsequent checks for different flags.

Due to the way CMake caches feature detection results, we need to provide
symbolic variable names which will persist the cached results. This commit
fixes feature detection using these two macros.

The feature checks now run and get stored correctly, and the correct output can
be observed in configure logs:

  -- Performing Test C_SUPPORTS_FPIC
  -- Performing Test C_SUPPORTS_FPIC - Success
  -- Performing Test CXX_SUPPORTS_FPIC

target_link_libraries(INTERFACE) doesn't bring inter-target dependencies in add_library,
although final targets have dependencies to whole dependent libraries.
It makes most libraries can be built in parallel.

target_link_libraries(PRIVATE) is used to shaared library.
Each dependent library is linked to the target.so, and its user will not see its grandchildren.
For example,

  - libclang.so has sufficient libclang*.a(s).
  - c-index-test requires just only libclang.so.

FIXME: lld is tweaked minimally. Adding INTERFACE in each library would be better thing.

NAKAMURA Takumi af2c1130ee Simplify linking to system libraries
The LLVMSupport library implementation consolidates all dependencies on
system libraries. Move the logic gathering system libraries out of
'cmake/modules/LLVM-Config.cmake' and into 'lib/Support/CMakeLists.txt'.
Use the target_link_libraries() command there to tell CMake about the
link dependencies of the LLVMSupport implementation. CMake will
automatically propagate this to all targets that link LLVMSupport
directly or indirectly.

We still need to build knowledge of system library dependencies into
'llvm-config'. Store the list of libraries needed in a property on
LLVMSupport and teach 'tools/llvm-config/CMakeLists.txt' to retrieve it
from there.

Drop all calls to 'link_system_libs' and 'get_system_libs' from our
CMake code. Replace their implementations with a warning that explains
the calls are no longer necessary. Also drop from 'LLVMConfig.cmake'
the HAVE_* and related variables that were published there only to allow
'get_system_libs' to run outside our build process.

Alp Toker c0b7bb56db CMake: Provide LLVM_PLUGIN_EXT definition
This is needed to support the addition of tests for clang loadable plugins.

In clang, plugins are built as modules (bundles on OS X) rather than dynamic
libraries (dylib) so the build system needs to inform lit of the actual
file extension in use, typically '.so' on Unix and '.dll' on Windows.

(LLVM itself should probably switch to this scheme to fix PR14903 once and for
all.)

David Majnemer 80bea0c315 Windows: Add support for unicode command lines
Summary:
The MSVCRT deliberately sends main() code-page specific characters.
This isn't too useful to LLVM as we end up converting the arguments to
UTF-16 and subsequently attempt to use the result as, for example, a
file name. Instead, we need to have the ability to access the Unicode
command line and transform it to UTF-8.

This has the distinct advantage over using the MSVC-specific wmain()
function as our entry point because:
 - It doesn't work on cygwin.
 - It only work on MinGW with caveats and only then on certain versions.
 - We get to keep our entry point as main(). :)

N.B. This patch includes fixes to other parts of lib/Support/Windows
s.t. we would be able to take advantage of getting the Unicode paths.
E.G. clang spawning clang -cc1 would want to give it Unicode arguments.

Chandler Carruth f11f1e43de Target a minimal terminfo library rather than necessarily a full curses
library for color support detection. This still will use a curses
library if that is all we have available on the system. This change
tries to use a smaller subset of the curses library, specifically the
subset that is on some systems split off into a separate library. For
example, if you install ncurses configured --with-tinfo, a 'libtinfo' is
install that provides just the terminfo querying functionality. That
library is now used instead of curses when it is available.

This happens to fix a build error on systems with that library because
when we tried to link ncurses into the binary, we didn't pull tinfo in
as well. =]

It should also provide an easy path for supporting the NetBSD
libterminfo library, but as I don't have access to a NetBSD system I'm

Chandler Carruth cad7e5e0b4 Add support for linking against a curses library when available and
using it to detect whether or not a terminal supports colors. This
replaces a particularly egregious hack that merely compared the TERM
environment variable to "dumb". That doesn't really translate to
a reasonable experience for users that have actually ensured their
terminal's capabilities are accurately reflected.

This makes testing a terminal for color support somewhat more expensive,
but it is called very rarely anyways. The important fast path when the
output is being piped somewhere is already in place.

The global lock may seem excessive, but the spec for calling into curses
is *terrible*. The whole library is terrible, and I spent quite a bit of
time looking for a better way of doing this before convincing myself
that this was the fundamentally correct way to behave. The damage of the
curses library is very narrowly confined, and we continue to use raw
escape codes for actually manipulating the colors which is a much sane
system than directly using curses here (IMO).

If this causes trouble for folks, please let me know. I've tested it on
Linux and will watch the bots carefully. I've also worked to account for
the variances of curses interfaces that I could finde documentation for,
but that may not have been sufficient.

Duncan Sands 80f122fefb Tweak the cmake interaction between CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE and LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS.
The issue is that CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS=ON was
not building with assertions enabled. (I was unable to find what in the LLVM
source tree was adding -DNDEBUG to the build line in this case, so decided that
it must be cmake itself that was adding it - this may depend on the cmake
version). The fix treats any mode that is not Debug as being the same as
Release for this purpose (previously it was being assumed that cmake would only
add -DNDEBUG for Release and not for RelWithDebInfo or MinSizeRel). If other
versions of cmake don't add -DNDEBUG for RelWithDebInfo then that's OK: with
this change you just get a useless but harmless -UNDEBUG or -DNDEBUG.

Tim Northover bfe8468502 Use correct host/target CMake variables to define lit variables.
CMake and autotools disagree on what "host" means in a cross-compilation
context. Autotools (and lit) take it to be the machine the binaries being
compiled now will run on. CMake takes it to be the machine actually compiling
the binaries now.

This change makes lit.site-cfg more consistent between autotools and CMake,
allowing lit tests (particularly in ExecutionEngine) to run correctly when
cross-compiled with CMake

For example,
cur) unittests/ADT/Release/ADTTests
new) unittests/ADT/ADTTests

RUNTIME_BUILD_MODE can be substituted to CMAKE_CFG_INTDIR.

With Make and Ninja, the tree is not built with multiple configurations.
Then, including the build type in target directory doesn't make sense.
See also "How can I build multiple modes without switching?"
http://www.cmake.org/Wiki/CMake_FAQ
CMAKE_CFG_INTDIR is set to "."

With multiple-configuration-aware build system, like Visual Studio, each unittest is built on appropriate directory, for example,
unittests/ADT/Release/ADTTests.exe
CMAKE_CFG_INTDIR is set to build system's variable, like "$(Configuration)" or "$(OutDir)".

Thus, "--param build_config" is also deprecated.

Chandler Carruth ef7f968e09 Add time getters to the process interface for requesting the elapsed
wall time, user time, and system time since a process started.

For walltime, we currently use TimeValue's interface and a global
initializer to compute a close approximation of total process runtime.

For user time, this adds support for an somewhat more precise timing
mechanism -- clock_gettime with the CLOCK_PROCESS_CPUTIME_ID clock
selected.

For system time, we have to do a full getrusage call to extract the
system time from the OS. This is expensive but unavoidable.

In passing, clean up the implementation of the old APIs and fix some
latent bugs in the Windows code. This might have manifested on Windows
ARM systems or other systems with strange 64-bit integer behavior.

The old API for this both user time and system time simultaneously from
a single getrusage call. While this results in fewer system calls, it
also results in a lower precision user time and if only user time is
desired, it introduces a higher overhead. It may be worthwhile to switch
some of the pass timers to not track system time and directly track user
and wall time. The old API also tracked walltime in a confusing way --
it just set it to the current walltime rather than providing any measure
of wall time since the process started the way buth user and system time
are tracked. The new API is more consistent here.

The plan is to eventually implement these methods for a *child* process
by using the wait3(2) system call to populate an rusage struct
representing the whole subprocess execution. That way, after waiting on
a child process its stats will become accurate and cheap to query.

Chandler Carruth 94d0251824 Completely refactor the structuring of unittest CMake files to match the
Makefiles, the CMake files in every other part of the LLVM tree, and
sanity.

This should also restore the output tree structure of all the unit
tests, sorry for breaking that, and thanks for letting me know.

The fundamental change is to put a CMakeLists.txt file in the unittest
directory, with a single test binary produced from it. This has several
advantages:

- No more weird directory stripping in the unittest macro, allowing it
to be used more readily in other projects.
- No more directory prefixes on all the source files.
- Allows correct and precise use of LLVM's per-directory dependency
  system.
- Allows use of the checking logic for source files that have not been
added to the CMake build. This uncovered a file being skipped with
CMake in LLVM and one in Clang's unit tests.
- Makes Specifying conditional compilation or other custom logic for JIT
  tests easier.

It did require adding the concept of an explicit 'optional' source file
to the CMake build so that the missing-file check can skip cases where
the file is *supposed* to be missing. =]

This is another chunk of refactoring the CMake build in order to make it
usable for other clients like CompilerRT / ASan / TSan.

Note that this is interdependent with a Clang CMake change.

Chandler Carruth 667f217a54 At the request of Michael Spencer, make the VCS version detection logic
in CMake a bit more handy. Previously we would get such charming
versions as the following for revision NNNN and commit-ish XXXXX:
  3.1svnsvn-rNNNN
  3.1svngit-svn-rNNNN
  3.1svngit-svn-XXXXX

The mechanism selecting betwene the latter two was particularly odd, and
didn't work with all of the ways git-svn repos are set up apparently. It
also misses an important point -- both the revision *and* the git commit
might be relevant when working on a local branch some distance from
mainline. The new logic does several things:

1) It strips the redundant initial 'svn'.
2) It always looks for a git-svn revision number base, and when found
   includes it in the version.
3) If the git commit-ish for the current HEAD is not exactly that
revision number, it is also included.

The resulting strings should roughly be:
  3.1svn-rNNNN
  3.1git-svn-rNNNN
  3.1git-svn-rNNNN-XXXXX

Suggestions on formatting etc always welcome. =] I've only looked at the
LLVM version string here, not Clang's (yet).

Note that the commit-ish reported is *not* terribly accurate. It updates
when 'cmake' is run, not when the binary is built. Still, it may be
better than nothing, especially if people have fairly long-lived git
repos and branches. This is not a new limitation, just didn't want
anyone to be surprised.

one aspect of them by having them use the (annoying, if not broken)
proper library dependency model for adding the LLVMTableGen library as

of separate LLVM / Clang source builds with CMake and a linker that
really cares about such things.

Chandler Carruth b58053bb41 Remove yet another buried and hidden implicit dependency: every single
sub-library for the targets depended on the core target CodeGen library.
This completely undermined the careful work to separate the those
libraries, especially the MC-layer ones. This surfaced as circular

CMake doesn't allow cycles.

Chandler Carruth 9d7feab3e0 Rewrite the CMake build to use explicit dependencies between libraries,
specified in the same file that the library itself is created. This is
more idiomatic for CMake builds, and also allows us to correctly specify
dependencies that are missed due to bugs in the GenLibDeps perl script,
or change from compiler to compiler. On Linux, this returns CMake to
a place where it can relably rebuild several targets of LLVM.

I have tried not to change the dependencies from the ones in the current
auto-generated file. The only places I've really diverged are in places
where I was seeing link failures, and added a dependency. The goal of
this patch is not to start changing the dependencies, merely to move
them into the correct location, and an explicit form that we can control
and change when necessary.

This also removes a serialization point in the build because we don't
have to scan all the libraries before we begin building various tools.
We no longer have a step of the build that regenerates a file inside the
source tree. A few other associated cleanups fall out of this.

This isn't really finished yet though. After talking to dgregor he urged
switching to a single CMake macro to construct libraries with both
sources and dependencies in the arguments. Migrating from the two macros
to that style will be a follow-up patch.

Also, llvm-config is still generated with GenLibDeps.pl, which means it
still has slightly buggy dependencies. The internal CMake
'llvm-config-like' macro uses the correct explicitly specified
dependencies however. A future patch will switch llvm-config generation
(when using CMake) to be based on these deps as well.

This may well break Windows. I'm getting a machine set up now to dig
into any failures there. If anyone can chime in with problems they see
or ideas of how to solve them for Windows, much appreciated.

Chandler Carruth 97c069c1d2 Clean up a pile of hacks in our CMake build relating to TableGen.
The first problem to fix is to stop creating synthetic *Table_gen
targets next to all of the LLVM libraries. These had no real effect as
CMake specifies that add_custom_command(OUTPUT ...) directives (what the
'tablegen(...)' stuff expands to) are implicitly added as dependencies
to all the rules in that CMakeLists.txt.

These synthetic rules started to cause problems as we started more and
more heavily using tablegen files from *subdirectories* of the one where
they were generated. Within those directories, the set of tablegen
outputs was still available and so these synthetic rules added them as
dependencies of those subdirectories. However, they were no longer
properly associated with the custom command to generate them. Most of
the time this "just worked" because something would get to the parent
directory first, and run tablegen there. Once run, the files existed and
the build proceeded happily. However, as more and more subdirectories
have started using this, the probability of this failing to happen has
increased. Recently with the MC refactorings, it became quite common for
me when touching a large enough number of targets.

To add insult to injury, several of the backends *tried* to fix this by
adding explicit dependencies back to the parent directory's tablegen
rules, but those dependencies didn't work as expected -- they weren't
forming a linear chain, they were adding another thread in the race.

This patch removes these synthetic rules completely, and adds a much
simpler function to declare explicitly that a collection of tablegen'ed
files are referenced by other libraries. From that, we can add explicit
dependencies from the smaller libraries (such as every architectures
Desc library) on this and correctly form a linear sequence. All of the
backends are updated to use it, sometimes replacing the existing attempt
at adding a dependency, sometimes adding a previously missing dependency
edge.

Please let me know if this causes any problems, but it fixes a rather
persistent and problematic source of build flakiness on our end.

in Support had to do with the version string printing which was fixed in

Also update build dependencies where libraries that needed the
functionality of the Target library (in the form of the TargetRegistry)

every TargetInfo library (ARMInfo, etc) uses TargetRegistry, making it
depend on Target. All of these were previously just sneaking by.

Oscar Fuentes f4202ba475 Changes for building Clang and others using LLVM as an external
library.

Installs tblgen (required by Clang).

Translates handling of user settings and platform-dependant options to
its own file, where it can included by another project.

Installs the .cmake files required by projects like Clang.

Oscar Fuentes 0db031d532 TableGen.cmake: sometimes the .td file is not in the current directory
(clang/include/clang/Basic/StmtNodes.td, for instance, is tablegenned
from clang/include/clang/AST/CMakeLists.txt) so it is not contained on
the list of all .td files on the current source directory which is
used as the DEPENDS of the custom command. We must add the .td file to
the DEPENDS list of the custom command. Otherwise some .inc files are
not regenerated when the corresponding .td file changes.

Oscar Fuentes eb6d777882 CMake (MSVC): cmake automatically adds the /EHsc and /GR compiler
options. If we are building with exceptions/rtti disabled, we replace
/EHsc with /EHs-c- and /GR with /GR-, respectively. If we just add the
disabling options we get warnings like this:

cl : Command line warning D9025 : overriding '/EHs' with '/EHs-'
