Daniel Sanders 15f7bc7857 Add option to limit Debugify to locations (omitting variables)
Summary:
It can be helpful to test behaviour w.r.t locations without having DEBUG_VALUE
around. In particular, because DEBUG_VALUE has the potential to change CodeGen
behaviour (e.g. hasOneUse() vs hasOneNonDbgUse()) while locations generally
don't.

Alok Kumar Sharma 6f029dadf6 [DebugInfo] Avoid generating duplicate llvm.dbg.value
Summary:
This is to avoid generating duplicate llvm.dbg.value instrinsic if it already exists after the Instruction.

Before inserting llvm.dbg.value instruction, LLVM checks if the same instruction is already present before the instruction to avoid duplicates.
Currently it misses to check if it already exists after the instruction.
flang generates IR like this.

%4 = load i32, i32* %i1_311, align 4, !dbg !42
call void @llvm.dbg.value(metadata i32 %4, metadata !35, metadata !DIExpression()), !dbg !33
When this IR is processed in llvm, it ends up inserting duplicates.
%4 = load i32, i32* %i1_311, align 4, !dbg !42
call void @llvm.dbg.value(metadata i32 %4, metadata !35, metadata !DIExpression()), !dbg !33
call void @llvm.dbg.value(metadata i32 %4, metadata !35, metadata !DIExpression()), !dbg !33
We have now updated LdStHasDebugValue to include the cases when instruction is already
followed by same dbg.value instruction we intend to insert.

Now,

Definition and usage of function LdStHasDebugValue are deleted.

Florian Hahn c0d0e3bda8 [PredicateInfo] Use SmallVector instead of SmallPtrSet.
We do not need the SmallPtrSet to avoid adding duplicates to
OpsToRename, because we already keep a ValueInfo mapping. If we see an
op for the first time, Infos will be empty and we can also add it to
OpsToRename.

We process operands by visiting BBs depth-first and then iterate over
all instructions & users, so the order should be deterministic.
Therefore we can skip one round of sorting, which we purely needed for
guaranteeing a deterministic order when iterating over the SmallPtrSet.

This fixes a narrowing bug (the debugger got the sign of a variable

The main reason to refer to the ext's operand was that an optimization
may remove the ext itself, leading to a dropped variable. Now that
InstCombine has been taught to use replaceAllDbgUsesWith (r336451), this
is less of a concern. Other passes can/should adopt this API as needed

Florian Hahn 5ac2629823 [PredicateInfo] Order instructions in different BBs by DFSNumIn.
Using OrderedInstructions::dominates as comparator for instructions in
BBs without dominance relation can cause a non-deterministic order
between such instructions. That in turn can cause us to materialize
copies in a non-deterministic order. While this does not effect
correctness, it causes some minor non-determinism in the final generated
code, because values have slightly different labels.

Without this patch, running -print-predicateinfo on a reasonably large
module produces slightly different output on each run.

This patch uses the dominator trees DFSInNum to order instruction from
different BBs, which should enforce a deterministic ordering and
guarantee that dominated instructions come after the instructions that
dominate them.

In order to set breakpoints on labels and list source code around
labels, we need collect debug information for labels, i.e., label
name, the function label belong, line number in the file, and the
address label located. In order to keep these information in LLVM
IR and to allow backend to generate debug information correctly.
We create a new kind of metadata for labels, DILabel. The format
of DILabel is

!DILabel(scope: !1, name: "foo", file: !2, line: 3)

We hope to keep debug information as much as possible even the
code is optimized. So, we create a new kind of intrinsic for label
metadata to avoid the metadata is eliminated with basic block.
The intrinsic will keep existing if we keep it from optimized out.
The format of the intrinsic is

llvm.dbg.label(metadata !1)

It has only one argument, that is the DILabel metadata. The
intrinsic will follow the label immediately. Backend could get the
label metadata through the intrinsic's parameter.

We also create DIBuilder API for labels to be used by Frontend.
Frontend could use createLabel() to allocate DILabel objects, and use
insertLabel() to insert llvm.dbg.label intrinsic in LLVM IR.

Daniel Neilson 1e68724d24 Remove alignment argument from memcpy/memmove/memset in favour of alignment attributes (Step 1)
Summary:
This is a resurrection of work first proposed and discussed in Aug 2015:
   http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2015-August/089384.html
and initially landed (but then backed out) in Nov 2015:
   http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20151109/312083.html

The @llvm.memcpy/memmove/memset intrinsics currently have an explicit argument
which is required to be a constant integer. It represents the alignment of the
dest (and source), and so must be the minimum of the actual alignment of the
two.

This change is the first in a series that allows source and dest to each
have their own alignments by using the alignment attribute on their arguments.

 In this change we:
1) Remove the alignment argument.
2) Add alignment attributes to the source & dest arguments. We, temporarily,
require that the alignments for source & dest be equal.

For example, code which used to read:
  call void @llvm.memcpy.p0i8.p0i8.i32(i8* %dest, i8* %src, i32 100, i32 4, i1 false)
will now read
  call void @llvm.memcpy.p0i8.p0i8.i32(i8* align 4 %dest, i8* align 4 %src, i32 100, i1 false)

Downstream users may have to update their lit tests that check for
@llvm.memcpy/memmove/memset call/declaration patterns. The following extended sed script
may help with updating the majority of your tests, but it does not catch all possible
patterns so some manual checking and updating will be required.

The remaining changes in the series will:
Step 2) Expand the IRBuilder API to allow creation of memcpy/memmove with differing
   source and dest alignments.
Step 3) Update Clang to use the new IRBuilder API.
Step 4) Update Polly to use the new IRBuilder API.
Step 5) Update LLVM passes that create memcpy/memmove calls to use the new IRBuilder API,
and those that use use MemIntrinsicInst::[get|set]Alignment() to use
        getDestAlignment() and getSourceAlignment() instead.
Step 6) Remove the single-alignment IRBuilder API for memcpy/memmove, and the
        MemIntrinsicInst::[get|set]Alignment() methods.

Reid Kleckner 8a1cd91016 [InstCombine] Add a flag to disable LowerDbgDeclare
Summary:
This should improve optimized debug info for address-taken variables at
the cost of inaccurate debug info in some situations.

We patched this into clang and deployed this change to Chromium
developers, and this significantly improved debuggability of optimized
code. The long-term solution to PR34136 seems more and more like it's
going to take a while, so I would like to commit this change under a
flag so that it can be used as a stop-gap measure.

This flag should really help so for C++ aggregates like std::string and
std::vector, which are typically address-taken, even after inlining, and
cannot be SROA-ed.

Adrian Prantl 05782218ab Canonicalize the representation of empty an expression in DIGlobalVariableExpression
This change simplifies code that has to deal with
DIGlobalVariableExpression and mirrors how we treat DIExpressions in
debug info intrinsics. Before this change there were two ways of
representing empty expressions on globals, a nullptr and an empty
!DIExpression().

If someone needs to upgrade out-of-tree testcases:
  perl -pi -e 's/(!DIGlobalVariableExpression\(var: ![0-9]*)\)/\1, expr: !DIExpression())/g' <MYTEST.ll>
will catch 95%.

Reid Kleckner 6d353348e5 Parse and print DIExpressions inline to ease IR and MIR testing
Summary:
Most DIExpressions are empty or very simple. When they are complex, they
tend to be unique, so checking them inline is reasonable.

This also avoids the need for CodeGen passes to append to the
llvm.dbg.mir named md node.

See also PR22780, for making DIExpression not be an MDNode.

Sam Elliott b0c9753691 Keep Optimization Remark Yaml in NewPM
Summary:
The New Pass Manager infrastructure was forgetting to keep around the optimization remark yaml file that the compiler might have been producing. This meant setting the option to '-' for stdout worked, but setting it to a filename didn't give file output (presumably it was deleted because compilation didn't explicitly keep it). This change just ensures that the file is kept if compilation succeeds.

So far I have updated one of the optimization remark output tests to add a version with the new pass manager. It is my intention for this patch to also include changes to all tests that use `-opt-remark-output=` but I wanted to get the code patch ready for review while I was making all those changes.

There is no situation where this rarely-used argument cannot be
substituted with a DIExpression and removing it allows us to simplify

the newly dead code.

Adam Nemet ea06e6e865 Migrate SimplifyLibCalls to new OptimizationRemarkEmitter
Summary:
This changes SimplifyLibCalls to use the new OptimizationRemarkEmitter
API.

In fact, as SimplifyLibCalls is only ever called via InstCombine,
(as far as I can tell) the OptimizationRemarkEmitter is added there,
and then passed through to SimplifyLibCalls later.

I have avoided changing any remark text.
