Craig Topper 59da74370b [SelectionDAG] Don't crash on inline assembly errors when the inline assembly return type is a struct.
Summary:
If we get an error building the SelectionDAG for inline assembly we try to continue and still build the DAG.

But if the return type for the inline assembly is a struct we end up crashing because we try to create an UNDEF node with a struct type which isn't valid.

Instead we need to create an UNDEF for each element of the struct and join them with merge_values.

This patch relies on single operand merge_values being handled gracefully by getMergeValues. If the return type is void there will be no VTs returned by ComputeValueVTs and now we just return instead of calling setValue. Hopefully that's ok, I assumed nothing would need to look up the mapped value for void node.

Philip Reames 8befa295ea [InlineSpiller] Fix a crash due to lack of forward progress from remat specifically for STATEPOINT
This patch covers up a fairly fundemental issue around remat and register allocation which shows up with psuedo instructions with more vreg uses than there are physical registers.  This patch essentially just disables remat for STATEPOINTs which are the only case we've seen so far, but long term we need a better fix.

For STATEPOINTs specifically, this is a strict improvement.  It unblocks progress towards enabling a currently off-by-default mode which integrates deopt bundle operand lowering with register allocator spilling so that we end up with smaller stack sizes and more optimally placed spills.  Assming no other issues turn up during my next round of integration testing - which based on experience so far, is admittedly unlikely - we might finally be able to enable something I've been working towards in small bits and pieces for years now.  :)

For psuedo ops in general, there are a couple of ideas for a "proper fix" discussed on the bug, but I'm far enough outside my knowledge area to not be able to see any of them through to a successful conclusion.  If anyone wants to help out here, please do.

Jessica Paquette 32de26d432 [MachineOutliner] NFC: Remove insertOutlinerPrologue, rename insertOutlinerEpilogue
insertOutlinerPrologue was not used by any target, and prologue-esque code was
beginning to appear in insertOutlinerEpilogue. Refactor that into one function,
buildOutlinedFrame.

This just removes insertOutlinerPrologue and renames insertOutlinerEpilogue.

Matt Davis a245c765a8 [MIRParser] Update a diagnostic message to use the correct register sigil. NFC
Summary:
Patch r323922 changed the sigil for physical registers to '$',  instead of '%'.
An error message was missed during this change, and reports the wrong sigil.
This patch corrects that diagnostic and the tests that check that error string.

Nirav Dave d4ff2f8a74 Avoid needing to walk out legalization tables. NFCI.
Relanding after fixing expensive check from modifying tables.

To avoid redundant work, during DAG legalization we keep tables
mapping pre-legalized SDValues to post-legalized SDValues and a
SDValue-to-SDValue map to enable fast node replacements. However, as
the keys are nodes which may be reused it is possible that an entry in
a table refers to a now deleted node N (that should have been renamed
by the value replacement map) while a new node N' exists. If N' is
then replaced that entry would be wrong. Previously we avoided this by
when potentially violating this property, walking every table and
updating all node pointers. This is very expensive but hopefully rare
occurance.

This patch assigns each instance of a SDValue used in legalization a
unique id and uses these ids in the legalization tables. This avoids
any such aliasing issue, avoiding the full table search and allowing
more aggressive incremental table pruning.

In some cases this is a 1000x speedup to compilation.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 1a70426ac1 Remove <undef> from rematerialized full register
When coalescing a small register into a subregister of a larger register,
if the larger register is rematerialized, the function updateRegDefUses
can add an <undef> flag to the rematerialized definition (since it's
treating it as only definining the coalesced subregister). While with that
assumption doing so is not incorrect, make sure to remove the flag later
on after the call to updateRegDefUses.

Sam Clegg 277f898a4d [WebAssembly] Ignore explicit section names for functions
WebAssembly doesn't support more than one function per section
and we rely on function sections being unique. This change ignores
the section provided by the function to avoid two functions being
in the same section.

Without this change the object writer produces the following
error for this test:
 LLVM ERROR: section already has a defining function: baz

Sanjay Patel 7d4929611c [DAGCombiner] remove hasOneUse() check from fadd constants transform
We're constant folding here, so we shouldn't check uses. This matches
the IR optimizer behavior.

The x86 test shows the expected win. The AArch64 test shows something
else. This only seems to happen if the "generic" AArch64 CPU model is 
used by MachineCombiner, so I'll file a bug report to follow-up.

Reid Kleckner 98117a47e6 [MS][ARM64] Hoist __ImageBase handling into TargetLoweringObjectFileCOFF
All COFF targets should use @IMGREL32 relocations for symbol differences
against __ImageBase. Do the same for getSectionForConstant, so that
immediates lowered to globals get merged across TUs.

Roman Tereshin b2d3f2e5da [MIR][MachineCSE] Implementing proper MachineInstr::getNumExplicitDefs()
Apparently, MachineInstr class definition as well as pretty much all of
the machine passes assume that the only kind of MachineInstr's operands
that is variadic for variadic opcodes is explicit non-definitions.

In particular, this assumption is made by MachineInstr::defs(), uses(),
and explicit_uses() methods, as well as by MachineCSE pass.

The assumption is incorrect judging from at least TableGen backend
implementation, that recognizes variable_ops in OutOperandList, and the
very existence of G_UNMERGE_VALUES generic opcode, or ARM load multiple
instructions, all of which have variadic defs.

In particular, MachineCSE pass breaks MIR with CSE'able G_UNMERGE_VALUES
instructions in it.

This commit implements MachineInstr::getNumExplicitDefs() similar to
pre-existing MachineInstr::getNumExplicitOperands(), fixes
MachineInstr::defs(), uses(), and explicit_uses(), and fixes MachineCSE
pass.

As the issue addressed seems to affect only machine passes that could be
ran mid-GlobalISel pipeline at the moment, the other passes aren't fixed
by this commit, like MachineLICM: that could be done on per-pass basis
when (if ever) they get adopted for GlobalISel.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 3d671248ab [SelectionDAG] Provide default expansion for rotates
Implement default legalization of rotates: either in terms of the rotation
in the opposite direction (if legal), or in terms of shifts and ors.

Implement generating of rotate instructions for Hexagon. Hexagon only
supports rotates by an immediate value, so implement custom lowering of
ROTL/ROTR on Hexagon. If a rotate is not legal, use the default expansion.

Matt Arsenault 5615fa0a87 DAG: Fix extract_subvector combine for a single element
This would fail before because 1x vectors aren't legal,
so instead just use the scalar type.

Avoids regressions in a future AMDGPU commit to add
v4i16/v4f16 as legal types.

Test update is just the one test that this triggers
on in tree now. It wasn't checking anything before.
The result is completely  changed since the selects
are eliminated. Not sure if it's considered better
or not.

Sanjay Patel 3e5c70cc1d [DAGCombiner] match vector compare and select sizes with extload operand (PR37427)
This patch started off much more general and ambitious, but it's been a nightmare 
seeing all the ways x86 vector codegen can go wrong.

So the code is still structured to allow extending easily, but it's currently 
limited in several ways:

1. Only handle cases with an extending load.
2. Only handle cases with a zero constant compare.
3. Ignore setcc with vector bitmask (SetCCWidth != 1) - so AVX512 should be unaffected.

The motivating case from PR37427:

...is the 1st test, and that shows the expected win - we eliminated the unnecessary 
intermediate cast.

There's a clear regression in the last test (sgt_zero_fp_select) because we longer 
recognize a 'SHRUNKBLEND' opportunity. I think that general problem is also present 
in sgt_zero, so I'll try to fix that in a follow-up. We need to match a sign-bit 
setcc from a sign-extended operand and remove it.

Craig Topper 61998289f9 Use SmallPtrSet instead of SmallSet in places where we iterate over the set.
SmallSet forwards to SmallPtrSet for pointer types. SmallPtrSet supports iteration, but a normal SmallSet doesn't. So if it wasn't for the forwarding, this wouldn't work.

These places were found by hiding the begin/end methods in the SmallSet forwarding

Matt Arsenault e8eb567e17 DAG: Avoid bitcast/ext/build_vector combine
This avoids regressions in a future AMDGPU change
to make v4i16/v4f16 legal. For these types, build_vector
is implemented as bitcasted operations on v2i32. This
combine was creating v4i16s out of what would have been
already been a v2i32 build_vector, creating a mess
of nodes that never get cleaned up.

I'm not sure this is the right condition to check.
I initially tried just checking for the legality of the
new build_vector. This works for my case, but breaks dozens
of x86 tests. A Mips test seems to show some improvement
or at least a neutral change. I don't want to think
about how long it would take to analyze the set of
different x86 vector operations impacted.

Test included in future commit.

Karl-Johan Karlsson abb11f805f [BranchFolding] Fix live-in's when hoisting code
Summary:
When the branch folder hoist code into a predecessor it adjust live-in's
in the blocks it hoist code from. However it fail to handle hoisted code
that contain a defed register that originally is live-in in the block
through a super register.

This is fixed by replacing the live-in handling code with calls to
utility functions in LivePhysRegs.

Matt Arsenault 191bc71541 DAG: Stop dropping invariant/dereferencable
When legalizing illegal FP load results, this was
for some reason dropping the invariant and dereferencable
memory flags. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this,
and the equivalent isn't done for integer loads.

Fixes an issue in a future AMDGPU commit where some identical
loads fail to merge because one of the loads ends up
dropping the flags.

Jessica Paquette aa087327ce [MachineOutliner] NFC - Move intermediate data structures to MachineOutliner.h
This is setting up to fix bug 37573 cleanly.

This moves data structures that are technically both used in some way by the
target and the general-purpose outlining algorithm into MachineOutliner.h. In
particular, the `Candidate` class is of importance.

Before, the outliner passed the locations of `Candidates` to the target, which
would then make some decisions about the prospective outlined function. This
change allows us to just pass `Candidates` along to the target. This will allow
the target to discard `Candidates` that would be considered unsafe before cost
calculation. Thus, we will be able to remove the unsafe candidates described in
the bug without resorting to torching the entire prospective function.

Also, as a side-effect, it makes the outliner a bit cleaner.

Heejin Ahn d69acf3b4c Change ambiguous uses of term 'funclet' to 'EH scopes'. NFC.
Summary:
`getEHScopeMembership()` function is used not only for funclet-based
EHs; they apply to all EH schemes that use the scoped IR
(catchpad/cleanuppad/...). D47005 (rL333045) changed some of the uses of
the term 'funclet' to 'EH scopes' in case they apply to all scoped EH,
and this fixes more of them. For `FuncletLayout` pass, I left it as is
because the pass is only used for funclet-based EH.

Heejin Ahn 5ef4d5f9c1 [WebAssembly] Support instruction selection for catching exceptions
Summary:
This lowers exception catching-related instructions:
1. Lowers `wasm.catch` intrinsic to `catch` instruction
2. Removes `catchpad` and `cleanuppad` instructions; they are not
necessary after isel phase. (`MachineBasicBlock::isEHFuncletEntry()` or
`MachineBasicBlock::isEHPad()` can be used instead.)
3. Lowers `catchret` and `cleanupret` instructions to pseudo `catchret`
and `cleanupret` instructions in isel, which will be replaced with other
instructions in `WebAssemblyExceptionPrepare` pass.
4. Adds 'WebAssemblyExceptionPrepare` pass, which is for running various
transformation for EH. Currently this pass only replaces `catchret` and
`cleanupret` instructions into appropriate wasm instructions to make
this patch successfully run until the end.

Currently this does not handle lowering of intrinsics related to LSDA
info generation (`wasm.landingpad.index` and `wasm.lsda`), because they
cannot be tested without implementing `EHStreamer`'s wasm-specific
handlers. They are marked as TODO, which is needed to make isel pass.
Also this does not generate `try` and `end_try` markers yet, which will
be handled in later patches.

This patch is based on the first wasm EH proposal.

Andrea Di Biagio be8616f5f2 [MCSchedule] Add the ability to compute the latency and throughput information for MCInst.
This patch extends the MCSchedModel API with new methods that can be used to
obtain the latency and reciprocal througput information for an MCInst.

Scheduling models have recently gained the ability to resolve variant scheduling
classes associated with MCInst objects. Before, models were only able to resolve
a variant scheduling class from a MachineInstr object.

This patch is mainly required by D47374 to avoid regressing a pair of x86
specific -print-schedule tests for btver2. Patch D47374 introduces a new variant
class to teach the btver scheduling model (x86 target) how to correctly compute
the latency profile for some zero-idioms using the new scheduling predicates.

The new methods added by this patch would be mainly used by llc when flag
-print-schedule is specified. In particular, tests that contain inline assembly
require that code is parsed at code emission stage into a sequence of MCInst.
That forces the print-schedule functionality to query the latency/rthroughput
information for MCInst instructions too. If we don't expose this new API, then
we lose "-print-schedule" test coverage as soon as variant scheduling classes
are added to the x86 models.

The tablegen SubtargetEmitter changes teaches how to query latency profile
information using a object that derives from TargetSubtargetInfo. Note that this
should really have been part of r333286. To avoid code duplication, the logic
that "resolves" variant scheduling classes for MCInst, has been moved to a
common place in MC. That logic is used by the "resolveVariantSchedClass" methods
redefined in override by the tablegen'd GenSubtargetInfo classes.

Roman Tereshin 5404136d06 [GlobalISel][Legalizer] LegalizerInfo verifier: check rules cover type indices
This commit adds a simple verifier that tracks type indices being
touched by legalization rules' builders.

Every target will now have an opportunity to call
LegalizerInfo::verify(...) at the end of its derived LegalizerInfo's
constructor and check there are no obvious mistakes like checking only
first type for an opcode that has more than one type index and therefore
implicitly declaring any type for the second (and higher) type index
legal.

The check is only ran in assert builds and should have very minor
performance impact in assert builds and none in release builds.

This commit does not add LegalizerInfo::verify(...) calls to
target-specific legalizers, look for separate commits for that.

This commit also doesn't make the verification errors fatal, only
produces an error message, look for a later commit that does.

Matt Arsenault ab2b79cb97 DAG: Remove redundant version of getRegisterTypeForCallingConv
There seems to be no real reason to have these separate copies.
The existing implementations just copy each other for x86.
For Mips there is a subtle difference, which is just a bug
since it changes based on the context where which one was called.
Dropping this version, all tests pass. If I try to merge them
to match the removed version, a test fails.

Jonas Paulsson 7d484fae2b [RegUsageInfoCollector] Bugfix for callee saved registers.
Previously, this pass would look at the (static) set returned by
getCallPreservedMask() and add those back as preserved in the case when
isSafeForNoCSROpt() returns false.

A problem is that a target may have to save some registers even when NoCSROpt
takes place. For instance, on SystemZ, the return register is needed upon
return from a function.

Furthermore, getCallPreservedMask() only includes the registers that the
target actually wishes to emit save/restore instructions for. This means that
subregs and (fully saved) superregs are missing.

This patch instead takes the (dynamic) set returned by target for the
function from determineCalleeSaves() and then adds sub/super regs to build
the set to be used when building the RegMask for the function.

Heejin Ahn 1e4d35044f [WebAssembly] Add functions for EHScopes
Summary:
There are functions using the term 'funclet' to refer to both
1. an EH scopes, the structure of BBs that starts with
catchpad/cleanuppad and ends with catchret/cleanupret, and
2. a small function that gets outlined in AsmPrinter, which is the
original meaning of 'funclet'.

So far the two have been the same thing; EH scopes are always outlined
in AsmPrinter as funclets at the end of the compilation pipeline. But
now wasm also uses scope-based EH but does not outline those, so we now
need to correctly distinguish those two use cases in functions.

This patch splits `MachineBasicBlock::isFuncletEntry` into
`isFuncletEntry` and `isEHScopeEntry`, and
`MachineFunction::hasFunclets` into `hasFunclets` and `hasEHScopes`, in
order to distinguish the two different use cases. And this also changes
some uses of the term 'funclet' to 'scope' in `getFuncletMembership` and
change the function name to `getEHScopeMembership` because this function
is not about outlined funclets but about EH scope memberships.

This change is in the same vein as D45559.

Eli Friedman 042dc9e092 [MachineOutliner] Add "thunk" outlining for AArch64.
When we're outlining a sequence that ends in a call, we can save up to
three instructions in the outlined function by turning the call into
a tail-call. I refer to this as thunk outlining because the resulting
outlined function looks like a thunk; suggestions welcome for a better
name.

In addition to making the outlined function shorter, thunk outlining
allows outlining calls which would otherwise be illegal to outline:
we don't need to save/restore LR, so we don't need to prove anything
about the stack access patterns of the callee.

To make this work effectively, I also added
MachineOutlinerInstrType::LegalTerminator to the generic MachineOutliner
code; this allows treating an arbitrary instruction as a terminator in
the suffix tree.

Sanjay Patel 17a870f07c [DAG] fold FP binops with undef operands to NaN
This is the FP sibling of D43141 with the corresponding IR change in rL327212.

We can't propagate undef here because if a variable operand is a NaN, these 
binops must propagate NaN. Neither global nor node-level fast-math makes a 
difference. If we have 'nnan', I think later folds can turn the NaN into undef.

The tests in X86/fp-undef.ll are meant to be the definitive verification for 
these folds - everything reduces identically now.

The other test changes are collateral damage. They may need to be altered to
preserve their intent.

Craig Topper 25444c852a [DAGCombiner] Use computeKnownBits to match rotate patterns that have had their amount masking modified by simplifyDemandedBits
SimplifyDemandedBits can remove bits from the masks for the shift amounts we need to see to detect rotates.

This patch uses zeroes from computeKnownBits to fill in some of these mask bits to make the match work.

As currently written this calls computeKnownBits even when the mask hasn't been simplified because it made the code simpler. If we're worried about compile time performance we can improve this.

I know we're talking about making a rotate intrinsic, but hopefully we can go ahead and do this change and just make sure the rotate intrinsic also handles it.

Zachary Turner 3c4c8a0937 [pdb] Change /DEBUG:GHASH to emit 8 byte hashes.
Previously we emitted 20-byte SHA1 hashes.  This is overkill
for identifying debug info records, and has the negative side
effect of making object files bigger and links slower.  By
using only the last 8 bytes of a SHA1, we get smaller object
files and ~10% faster links.

This modifies the format of the .debug$H section by adding a new
value for the hash algorithm field, so that the linker will still
work when its object files have an old format.

Nirav Dave 11fd14c1ac [DAG] Prune cycle check in store merge.
As part of merging stores we check that fusing the nodes does not
cause a cycle due to one candidate store being indirectly dependent on
another store (this may happen via chained memory copies). This is
done by searching if a store is a predecessor to another store's
value.

Prune the search at the candidate search's root node which is a
predecessor to all candidate stores. This reduces the
size of the subgraph searched in large basic blocks.

Amara Emerson 0d6a26dffc [GlobalISel][IRTranslator] Split aggregates during IR translation.
We currently handle all aggregates by creating one large LLT, and letting the
legalizer deal with splitting them up. However using this approach means that
we can't support big endian code correctly.

This patch changes the way that the IRTranslator deals with aggregate values,
by splitting them up into their constituent element values. To do this, parts
of the translator need to be modified to deal with multiple VRegs for a single
Value.

A new Value to VReg mapper is introduced to help keep compile time under
control, currently there is no measurable impact on CTMark despite the extra
code being generated in some cases.

Patch is based on the original work of Tim Northover.

Alexander Richardson 8f44579d0b Emit a left-shift instead of a power-of-two multiply for jump-tables
Summary:
SelectionDAGLegalize::ExpandNode() inserts an ISD::MUL when lowering a
BR_JT opcode. While many backends optimize this multiply into a shift, e.g.
the MIPS backend currently always lowers this into a sequence of
load-immediate+multiply+mflo in MipsSETargetLowering::lowerMulDiv().

I initially changed the multiply to a shift in the MIPS backend but it
turns out that would not have handled the MIPSR6 case and was a lot more
code than doing it in LegalizeDAG.
I believe performing this simple optimization in LegalizeDAG instead of
each individual backend is the better solution since this also fixes other
backeds such as MSP430 which calls the multiply runtime function
__mspabi_mpyi without this patch.

Sanjay Patel 8652c53d29 [DAG] propagate FMF for all FPMathOperators
This is a simple hack based on what's proposed in D37686, but we can extend it if needed in follow-ups. 
It gets us most of the FMF functionality that we want without adding any state bits to the flags. It 
also intentionally leaves out non-FMF flags (nsw, etc) to minimize the patch.

It should provide a superset of the functionality from D46563 - the extra tests show propagation and 
codegen diffs for fcmp, vecreduce, and FP libcalls.

The PPC log2() test shows the limits of this most basic approach - we only applied 'afn' to the last 
node created for the call. AFAIK, there aren't any libcall optimizations based on the flags currently, 
so that shouldn't make any difference.

Geoff Berry 64a2ea41ea [BranchFolding] Allow hoisting to block with a single conditional branch.
Summary:
The BranchFolding pass is currently missing opportunities to hoist
common code if the hoisted-to block contains a single conditional branch
that has register uses.  This occurs somewhat frequently on AArch64 with
CBZ/TBZ opcodes.

This change also eliminates some code differences when debug info is
present since the presence of e.g. DBG_VALUE instructions in the
hoisted-to block can enable hoisting that wouldn't have occurred without
them.

Summary:
If we are not emitting a linkage name in the .debug_info sections, we
should not add it into the index either. This makes sure our index is
consistent with the actual debug info.

I am also explicitly setting the --dwarf-linkage-names=All in the
name-collsions test as that one would now fail on targets where this
defaults to "Abstract" (in fact, it would have failed already if there
wasn't a bug in the DWARF verifier, which I fix as well).

Nicola Zaghen d34e60ca85 Rename DEBUG macro to LLVM_DEBUG.
The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects.
The renaming was done as follows:
- git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g'
- git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM
- Manual change to APInt
- Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it.

In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased
to the LLVM_DEBUG() one.

Vedant Kumar 99d5c072f0 [DAGCombiner] Set the right SDLoc on extended SETCC uses (7/N)
ExtendSetCCUses updates SETCC nodes which use a load (OriginalLoad) to
reflect a simplification to the load (ExtLoad).

Based on my reading, ExtendSetCCUses may create new nodes to extend a
constant attached to a SETCC. It also creates fresh SETCC nodes which
refer to any updated operands.

ISTM that the location applied to the new constant and SETCC nodes
should be the same as the location of the ExtLoad.

This was suggested by Adrian in https://reviews.llvm.org/D45995.

Vedant Kumar fd340a4047 [DAGCombiner] Set the right SDLoc on a newly-created sextload (6/N)
This teaches tryToFoldExtOfLoad to set the right location on a
newly-created extload. With that in place, the logic for performing a
certain ([s|z]ext (load ...)) combine becomes identical for sexts and
zexts, and we can get rid of one copy of the logic.

The test case churn is due to dependencies on IROrders inherited from
the wrong SDLoc.

Vedant Kumar f0e5f7c45e [DAGCombiner] Factor out duplicated logic for an extload combine, NFC (5/N)
Part of the logic for combining (zext (load ...)) and (sext (load ...))
is duplicated. This creates problems because bugs in one version have to
be fixed again in the other version.

To address this, as a first step, I've extracted the duplicate logic
into a helper. I'll fix the debug location bug in the helper and
eliminate the copy of its logic in a followup.

Haicheng Wu 0aae2bc260 [CGP] Split large data structres to sink more GEPs
Accessing the members of a large data structures needs a lot of GEPs which
usually have large offsets due to the size of the underlying data structure. If
the offsets are too large to fit into the r+i addressing mode, these GEPs cannot
be sunk to their users' blocks and many extra registers are needed then to carry
the values of these GEPs.

This patch tries to split a large data struct starting from %base like the
following.

Before:
BB0:
  %base     =

  %gep1     = gep %base, off1
  %gep2     = gep %base, off2

In the above example, the struct is split into two parts. The first part still
starts from %base and the second part starts from %new_base. After the
splitting, %new_gep1 and %new_gep2 have smaller offsets and then can be sunk to
BB2 and folded into their users.

The algorithm to split data structure is simple and very similar to the work of
merging SExts. First, it collects GEPs that have large offsets when iterating
the blocks. Second, it splits the underlying data structures and updates the
collected GEPs to use smaller offsets.

Summary:
The .debug_line parser previously reported errors by printing to stderr and
return false. This is not particularly helpful for clients of the library code,
as it prevents them from handling the errors in a manner based on the calling
context. This change switches to using llvm::Error and callbacks to indicate
what problems were detected during parsing, and has updated clients to handle
the errors in a location-specific manner. In general, this means that they
continue to do the same thing to external users. Below, I have outlined what
the known behaviour changes are, relating to this change.

There are two levels of "errors" in the new error mechanism, to broadly
distinguish between different fail states of the parser, since not every
failure will prevent parsing of the unit, or of subsequent unit. Malformed
table errors that prevent reading the remainder of the table (reported by
returning them) and other minor issues representing problems with parsing that
do not prevent attempting to continue reading the table (reported by calling a
specified callback funciton). The only example of this currently is when the
last sequence of a unit is unterminated. However, I think it would be good to
change the handling of unrecognised opcodes to report as minor issues as well,
rather than just printing to the stream if --verbose is used (this would be a
subsequent change however).

I have substantially extended the DwarfGenerator to be able to handle
custom-crafted .debug_line sections, allowing for comprehensive unit-testing
of the parser code. For now, I am just adding unit tests to cover the basic
error reporting, and positive cases, and do not currently intend to test every
part of the parser, although the framework should be sufficient to do so at a
later point.

Known behaviour changes:
  - The dump function in DWARFContext now does not attempt to read subsequent
  tables when searching for a specific offset, if the unit length field of a
  table before the specified offset is a reserved value.
  - getOrParseLineTable now returns a useful Error if an invalid offset is
  encountered, rather than simply a nullptr.
  - The parse functions no longer use `WithColor::warning` directly to report
  errors, allowing LLD to call its own warning function.
  - The existing parse error messages have been updated to not specifically
  include "warning" in their message, allowing consumers to determine what
  severity the problem is.
  - If the line table version field appears to have a value less than 2, an
  informative error is returned, instead of just false.
  - If the line table unit length field uses a reserved value, an informative
  error is returned, instead of just false.
  - Dumping of .debug_line.dwo sections is now implemented the same as regular
  .debug_line sections.
  - Verbose dumping of .debug_line[.dwo] sections now prints the prologue, if
  there is a prologue error, just like non-verbose dumping.

As a helper for the generator code, I have re-added emitInt64 to the
AsmPrinter code. This previously existed, but was removed way back in r100296,
presumably because it was dead at the time.

This change also requires a change to LLD, which will be committed separately.

Roman Tereshin 6d26638c90 [GlobalISel][Legalizer] Widening the second src op of shifts bug fix
The second source operand of G_SHL, G_ASHR, and G_LSHR must preserve its
value as a (small) unsigned integer, therefore its incorrect to widen it
in any way but by zero extending it.

G_SHL was using G_ANYEXT and G_ASHR - G_SEXT (which is correct for their
destination and first source operands, but not the "number of bits to
shift" operand).

Generally, shifts aren't as similar to regular binary operations as it
might seem, for instance, they aren't commutative nor associative and
the second source operand usually requires a special treatment.

Craig Topper 176ec8506f [DAGCombiner] In visitBITCAST when trying to constant fold the bitcast, only call getBitcast if its an fp->int or int->fp conversion even when before legalize ops.
Previously if !LegalOperations we would blindly call getBitcast and hope that getNode would constant fold it. But if the conversion is between a vector and a scalar, getNode has no simplification.

This means we would just get back the original N. We would then return that N which would make the caller of visitBITCAST think that we used CombineTo and did our own worklist management. This prevents target specific optimizations from being called for vector/scalar bitcasts until after legal operations.

Shiva Chen 801bf7ebbe [DebugInfo] Examine all uses of isDebugValue() for debug instructions.
Because we create a new kind of debug instruction, DBG_LABEL, we need to
check all passes which use isDebugValue() to check MachineInstr is debug
instruction or not. When expelling debug instructions, we should expel
both DBG_VALUE and DBG_LABEL. So, I create a new function,
isDebugInstr(), in MachineInstr to check whether the MachineInstr is
debug instruction or not.

This patch has no new test case. I have run regression test and there is
no difference in regression test.

Shiva Chen cd070cdc94 [DebugInfo] Convert intrinsic llvm.dbg.label to MachineInstr.
In order to convert LLVM IR to MachineInstr, we need a new TargetOpcode,
DBG_LABEL, to ‘lower’ intrinsic llvm.dbg.label. The patch
creates this new TargetOpcode and convert intrinsic llvm.dbg.label to
MachineInstr through SelectionDAG.

In SelectionDAG, debug information is stored in SDDbgInfo. We create a
new data member of SDDbgInfo for labels and use the new data member,
SDDbgLabel, to create DBG_LABEL MachineInstr.

The new DBG_LABEL MachineInstr uses label metadata from LLVM IR as its
parameter. So, the backend could get metadata information of labels from
DBG_LABEL MachineInstr.

Shiva Chen 2c864551df [DebugInfo] Add DILabel metadata and intrinsic llvm.dbg.label.
In order to set breakpoints on labels and list source code around
labels, we need collect debug information for labels, i.e., label
name, the function label belong, line number in the file, and the
address label located. In order to keep these information in LLVM
IR and to allow backend to generate debug information correctly.
We create a new kind of metadata for labels, DILabel. The format
of DILabel is

!DILabel(scope: !1, name: "foo", file: !2, line: 3)

We hope to keep debug information as much as possible even the
code is optimized. So, we create a new kind of intrinsic for label
metadata to avoid the metadata is eliminated with basic block.
The intrinsic will keep existing if we keep it from optimized out.
The format of the intrinsic is

llvm.dbg.label(metadata !1)

It has only one argument, that is the DILabel metadata. The
intrinsic will follow the label immediately. Backend could get the
label metadata through the intrinsic's parameter.

We also create DIBuilder API for labels to be used by Frontend.
Frontend could use createLabel() to allocate DILabel objects, and use

Fix a silly mistake in my pre-commit changes for r331816. It should check what
opcode the insn is before extracting the operands.

Roman Tereshin 25cbfe680e [GlobalISel][Legalizer] More concise and faster widenScalar, NFC
Refactoring LegalizerHelper::widenScalar member function reducing its
size by approximately a factor of 2 and (hopefuly) making it more
straightforward and regular by introducing widenScalarSrc and
widenScalarDst helper methods.

The new widenScalar* methods mutate the instructions in place instead
of recreating them from scratch and removing the originals. The
compile time implications of this were measured on sqlite3
amalgamation, targeting AArch64 in -O0:

LegalizerHelper::widenScalar: > 25% faster
Legalizer::runOnMachineFunction: ~ 4.0 - 4.5% faster

Also adding MachineOperand::setCImm and refactoring out
MachineIRBuilder::recordInsertion methods to make the change possible.

Martin Storsjo 966d34563f [AsmPrinter] Allow emitting codeview for any windows target
Before SVN r244158, codeview debug info was emitted always
emitted for msvc if debug info was enabled, but that commit
added a module flag.

Since it's still restricted by the flag, we can allow it
for any target if the user requests it, not only msvc (and
windows-itanium, added in SVN r287567).

Add a test for emitting it for a mingw target.

Roman Tereshin d29fc89222 [MachineVerifier][GlobalISel] Checking that generic instrs have LLTs on all vregs
Every generic machine instruction must have generic virtual registers
only, that is, have a low-level type attached to each operand.

Previously MachineVerifier would catch a type missing on an operand
only if the previous operand for the the same type index exists and
have a type attached to it and it will report it as a type mismatch.
This is incosistent behaviour and a misleading error message.

This commit makes sure MachineVerifier explicitly checks that the
types are there for every operand and if not provides a
straightforward error message.

This is an NFC pre-commit for the following "Checking that generic
instrs have LLTs on all vregs" commit.

This overloads MachineOperand::print to make it possible to print LLTs
with standalone machine operands.

This also overloads MachineVerifier::print(...MachineOperand...) with
an optional LLT using the newly introduced MachineOperand::print
variant; no actual calls added.

This also refactors MachineVerifier::visitMachineInstrBefore in the
parts dealing with all generic instructions (checking Selected
property, LLTs, and phys regs).

Don't assume the alias of a defined reg is always already in the set.

As the test case in https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36587 discovered,
it is wrong to assume that all the aliases of the defined register in the
*current function* is already present in the UsedPhysRegsMask.

This patch changes this so that any definition in the current function of a
phys-reg always results in all its aliases inserted into the set of defined
registers.

Tom Stellard abc9871d60 GlobalISel: Use a callback to compute constrained reg class for unallocatble registers
Summary:
constrainOperandRegClass() currently fails if it tries to constrain the
register class of an operand that is defeined with an unallocatable register
class.  This patch resolves this by adding a target callback to compute
register constriants in this case.

This is required by the AMDGPU because many of its instructions have source opreands
defined with the unallocatable register classe VS_32 which is a union of two allocatable
register classes VGPR_32 and SReg_32.

This reverts SVN r331441 (reapplies r331337), together with a fix
in to handle an already existing fragment expression in the
dbg.value that must be fragmented due to a split PHI node.

This should solve the problem seen in PR37321, which was the
reason for the revert of r331337.

The situation in PR37321 is that we have a PHI node like this

In DAGCombiner, we try to simplify this pattern:

  ([s|z]ext (load ...))

Conceptually, a new extload which is created while splitting the load
should have the same debug location as the load.

Making this change affects the IROrder of the new load, causing some
test case churn.

In practice, the new location is never different from the location of
the [s|z]ext, at least not during check-llvm or a stage2 build.

Vedant Kumar ee4bfcaa5a [DAGCombiner] Set the right SDLoc on a newly-created zextload (1/N)
Setting the right SDLoc on a newly-created zextload fixes a line table
bug which resulted in non-linear stepping behavior.

Several backend tests contained CHECK lines which relied on the IROrder
inherited from the wrong SDLoc. This patch breaks that dependence where
feasbile and regenerates test cases where not.

In some cases, changing a node's IROrder may alter register allocation
and spill behavior. This can affect performance. I have chosen not to
prevent this by applying a "known good" IROrder to SDLocs, as this may
hide a more general bug in the scheduler, or cause regressions on other
test inputs.

Nirav Dave 6c0665e221 [MC] Change AsmParser to leverage Assembler during evaluation
Teach AsmParser to check with Assembler for when evaluating constant
expressions.  This improves the handing of preprocessor expressions
that must be resolved at parse time. This idiom can be found as
assembling-time assertion checks in source-level assemblers. Note that
this relies on the MCStreamer to keep sufficient tabs on Section /
Fragment information which the MCAsmStreamer does not. As a result the
textual output may fail where the equivalent object generation would
pass. This can most easily be resolved by folding the MCAsmStreamer
and MCObjectStreamer together which is planned for in a separate
patch.

Currently, this feature is only enabled for assembly input, keeping IR
compilation consistent between assembly and object generation.

Bjorn Pettersson 9a8483a4b2 [BranchFolding] Salvage DBG_VALUE instructions from empty blocks
Summary:
This patch will introduce copying of DBG_VALUE instructions
from an otherwise empty basic block to predecessor/successor
blocks in case the empty block is eliminated/bypassed. It
is currently only done in one identified situation in the
BranchFolding pass, before optimizing on empty block.
It can be seen as a light variant of the propagation done
by the LiveDebugValues pass, which unfortunately is executed
after the BranchFolding pass.

We only propagate (copy) DBG_VALUE instructions in a limited
number of situations:
 a) If the empty BB is the only predecessor of a successor
    we can copy the DBG_VALUE instruction to the beginning of
    the successor (because the DBG_VALUE instruction is always
    part of the flow between the blocks).
 b) If the empty BB is the only successor of a predecessor
    we can copy the DBG_VALUE instruction to the end of the
    predecessor (because the DBG_VALUE instruction is always
    part of the flow between the blocks). In this case we add
    the DBG_VALUE just before the first terminator (assuming
    that the terminators do not impact the DBG_VALUE).

A future solution, to handle more situations, could perhaps
be to run the LiveDebugValues pass before branch folding?

This fix is related to PR37234. It is expected to resolve
the problem seen, when applied together with the fix in
SelectionDAG from here: https://reviews.llvm.org/D46129

Bjorn Pettersson abafca619b [SelectionDAG] Improve selection of DBG_VALUE using a PHI node result
Summary:
When building the selection DAG at ISel all PHI nodes are
selected and lowered to Machine Instruction PHI nodes before
we start to create any SDNodes. So there are no SDNodes for
values produced by the PHI nodes.

In the past when selecting a dbg.value intrinsic that uses
the value produced by a PHI node we have been handling such
dbg.value intrinsics as "dangling debug info". I.e. we have
not created a SDDbgValue node directly, because there is
no existing SDNode for the PHI result, instead we deferred
the creationg of a SDDbgValue until we found the first use
of the PHI result.

The old solution had a couple of flaws. The position of the
selected DBG_VALUE instruction would end up quite late in a
basic block, and for example not directly after the PHI node
as in the LLVM IR input. And in case there were no use at all
in the basic block the dbg.value could be dropped completely.

This patch introduces a new VREG kind of SDDbgValue nodes.
It is similar to a SDNODE kind of node, but it refers directly
to a virtual register and not a SDNode. When we do selection
for a dbg.value that is using the result of a PHI node we
can do a lookup of the virtual register directly (as it already
is determined for the PHI node) and create a SDDbgValue node
immediately instead of delaying the selection until we find a
use.

This should fix a problem with losing debug info at ISel
as seen in PR37234 (https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37234).
It does not resolve PR37234 completely, because the debug info
is dropped later on in the BranchFolder (see D46184).

Daniel Sanders 5eb9f581b6 [globalisel][legalizerinfo] Introduce dedicated extending loads and add lowerings for them
Summary:
Previously, a extending load was represented at (G_*EXT (G_LOAD x)).
This had a few drawbacks:
* G_LOAD had to be legal for all sizes you could extend from, even if
  registers didn't naturally hold those sizes.
* All sizes you could extend from had to be allocatable just in case the
  extend went missing (e.g. by optimization).
* At minimum, G_*EXT and G_TRUNC had to be legal for these sizes. As we
  improve optimization of extends and truncates, this legality requirement
  would spread without considerable care w.r.t when certain combines were
  permitted.
* The SelectionDAG importer required some ugly and fragile pattern
  rewriting to translate patterns into this style.

This patch begins changing the representation to:
* (G_[SZ]EXTLOAD x)
* (G_LOAD x) any-extends when MMO.getSize() * 8 < ResultTy.getSizeInBits()
which resolves these issues by allowing targets to work entirely in their
native register sizes, and by having a more direct translation from
SelectionDAG patterns.

This patch introduces the new generic instructions and new variation on
G_LOAD and adds lowering for them to convert back to the existing
representations.

Jessica Paquette 0b6724917a [MachineOutliner] Add defs to calls + don't track liveness on outlined functions
This commit makes it so that if you outline a def of some register, then the
call instruction created by the outliner actually reflects that the register
is defined by the call. It also makes it so that outlined functions don't
have the TracksLiveness property.

Outlined calls shouldn't break liveness assumptions that someone might make.

This also un-XFAILs the noredzone test, and updates the calls test.

Heejin Ahn d20d0648ed [DAGCombiner] Fix a case of 1 in non-splat vector pow2 divisor
Summary:
D42479 (rL329525) enabled SDIV combine for pow2 non-splat vector
dividers. But when there is a 1 in a vector, the instruction sequence to
be generated involves shifting a value by the number of its bit widths,
which is undefined
(c64f4dbfe3/lib/CodeGen/SelectionDAG/DAGCombiner.cpp (L6000-L6006)).

Especially, in architectures that do not support vector instructions,
each of element in a vector will be computed separately using scalar
operations, and then the resulting value will be undef for '1' values
in a vector.

(All 1's vector is fine; only vectors mixed with 1 and others will be
affected.)

Craig Topper f3cefad255 [DAGCombiner][X86] When promoting loads don't use ZEXTLOAD even its legal
We were previously prefering ZEXTLOAD over EXTLOAD if it is legal. This triggers during X86's promotion of i16->i32. Not sure about other targets.

Using ZEXTLOAD can prevent folding it to SEXTLOAD later if we were to promote a sign extended operand like we would need for SRA. However, X86 doesn't currently promote i16 SRA. I was looking into doing that which is how I found this issue.

This is also blocking our ability to fold 4 byte aligned EXTLOADs with "loadi32". This is what caused most of the test changes here.

Warren Ristow b960d2cb40 [X86] Account for partial stack slot spills (PR30821)
Previously, _any_ store or load instruction was considered to be
operating on a spill if it had a frameindex as an operand, and thus
was fair game for optimisations such as "StackSlotColoring". This
usually works, except on architectures where spills can be partially
restored, for example on X86 where a spilt vector can have a single
component loaded (zeroing the rest of the target register). This can be
mis-interpreted and the zero extension unsoundly eliminated, see
pr30821.

To avoid this, this commit optionally provides the caller to
isLoadFromStackSlot and isStoreToStackSlot with the number of bytes
spilt/loaded by the given instruction. Optimisations can then determine
that a full spill followed by a partial load (or vice versa), for
example, cannot necessarily be commuted.

Petar Jovanovic e2bfcd6394 Correct dwarf unwind information in function epilogue
This patch aims to provide correct dwarf unwind information in function
epilogue for X86.
It consists of two parts. The first part inserts CFI instructions that set
appropriate cfa offset and cfa register in emitEpilogue() in
X86FrameLowering. This part is X86 specific.

The second part is platform independent and ensures that:

* CFI instructions do not affect code generation (they are not counted as
  instructions when tail duplicating or tail merging)
* Unwind information remains correct when a function is modified by
  different passes. This is done in a late pass by analyzing information
  about cfa offset and cfa register in BBs and inserting additional CFI
  directives where necessary.

Added CFIInstrInserter pass:

* analyzes each basic block to determine cfa offset and register are valid
  at its entry and exit
* verifies that outgoing cfa offset and register of predecessor blocks match
  incoming values of their successors
* inserts additional CFI directives at basic block beginning to correct the
  rule for calculating CFA

Having CFI instructions in function epilogue can cause incorrect CFA
calculation rule for some basic blocks. This can happen if, due to basic
block reordering, or the existence of multiple epilogue blocks, some of the
blocks have wrong cfa offset and register values set by the epilogue block
above them.
CFIInstrInserter is currently run only on X86, but can be used by any target
that implements support for adding CFI instructions in epilogue.

If the mask is constant, we do nothing. InstCombine should have unfolded it.
Else, i use `hasAndNot()` TLI hook.

investigate failures in Chrome. This time I've added to the ReleaseNotes
to warn users of the potential of exposing UB and let me repeat that
here for more exposure:

  Optimization of floating-point casts is improved. This may cause surprising
  results for code that is relying on undefined behavior. Code sanitizers can
  be used to detect affected patterns such as this:

    int main() {
      float x = 4294967296.0f;
      x = (float)((int)x);
      printf("junk in the ftrunc: %f\n", x);
      return 0;
    }

    $ clang -O1 ftrunc.c -fsanitize=undefined ; ./a.out

fptosi / fptoui round towards zero, and that's the same behavior as ISD::FTRUNC,

A change to use divergence analysis in the AMDGPU backend was getting formal
arguments incorrect (not tagged as divergent) unless they were VGPR0, VGPR1 or
VGPR2

For graphics shaders it is possible to have more than these passed in as VGPR

Modified the checking code to check for any VGPR registers passed in as formal
arguments.

Also, some intrinsics that are sources of divergence may have been lowered
during instruction selection and are missed on subsequent calls to
isSDNodeSourceOfDivergence - added the relevant AMDGPUISD checks as well.

Finally, the FunctionLoweringInfo tracks virtual registers that are live across
basic block boundaries. This is used to check for divergence of CopyFromRegister
registers using the DivergenceAnalysis analysis. For multiple blocks the lazily
evaluated inverted map VirtReg2Value was not cleared when the ValueMap map was.

Summary:
Add an LLVM intrinsic for type discriminated event logging with XRay.
Similar to the existing intrinsic for custom events, but also accepts
a type tag argument to allow plugins to be aware of different types
and semantically interpret logged events they know about without
choking on those they don't.

Relies on a symbol defined in compiler-rt patch D43668. I may wait
to submit before I can see demo everything working together including
a still to come clang patch.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 6c2f868bbd [Pipeliner] Use std::stable_sort when ordering NodeSets
There are cases when individual NodeSets can be equal with respect to
the ordering criteria. Since they are stored in an ordered container,
use stable_sort to preserve the relative order of equal NodeSets. 

This should remove non-determinism discovered by shuffling done in
llvm::sort with expensive checks enabled.

This patch makes tryCandidate() virtual and some utility functions like

Reid Kleckner 0828699488 [FastISel] Disable local value sinking by default
This is causing compilation timeouts on code with long sequences of
local values and calls (i.e. foo(1); foo(2); foo(3); ...).  It turns out
that code coverage instrumentation is a great way to create sequences
like this, which how our users ran into the issue in practice.

Intel has a tool that detects these kinds of non-linear compile time
issues, and Andy Kaylor reported it as PR37010.

The current sinking code scans the whole basic block once per local
value sink, which happens before emitting each call. In theory, local
values should only be introduced to be used by instructions between the
current flush point and the last flush point, so we should only need to
scan those instructions.

Pavel Labath b7243ed2f4 [CodeGen/Dwarf] Rename the "sizetype" synthetic type and add it to the accelerator table
Summary:
This type is created on-demand and used as the base type for array
ranges. Since it is "special", its construction did not go through the
createTypeDIE function and so it was never inserted into the accelerator
table, although it clearly belongs there.

I add an explicit addAccelType call to insert it into the table.

During review, we also decided to rename the type to something more
unique to avoid confusion in case the user has own "sizetype" type. The
new name for the type size __ARRAY_SIZE_TYPE__.

Chandler Carruth 19618fc639 [x86] Introduce a pass to begin more systematically fixing PR36028 and similar issues.
The key idea is to lower COPY nodes populating EFLAGS by scanning the
uses of EFLAGS and introducing dedicated code to preserve the necessary
state in a GPR. In the vast majority of cases, these uses are cmovCC and
jCC instructions. For such cases, we can very easily save and restore
the necessary information by simply inserting a setCC into a GPR where
the original flags are live, and then testing that GPR directly to feed
the cmov or conditional branch.

However, things are a bit more tricky if arithmetic is using the flags.
This patch handles the vast majority of cases that seem to come up in
practice: adc, adcx, adox, rcl, and rcr; all without taking advantage of
partially preserved EFLAGS as LLVM doesn't currently model that at all.

There are a large number of operations that techinaclly observe EFLAGS
currently but shouldn't in this case -- they typically are using DF.
Currently, they will not be handled by this approach. However, I have
never seen this issue come up in practice. It is already pretty rare to
have these patterns come up in practical code with LLVM. I had to resort
to writing MIR tests to cover most of the logic in this pass already.
I suspect even with its current amount of coverage of arithmetic users
of EFLAGS it will be a significant improvement over the current use of
pushf/popf. It will also produce substantially faster code in most of
the common patterns.

This patch also removes all of the old lowering for EFLAGS copies, and
the hack that forced us to use a frame pointer when EFLAGS copies were
found anywhere in a function so that the dynamic stack adjustment wasn't
a problem. None of this is needed as we now lower all of these copies
directly in MI and without require stack adjustments.

Lots of thanks to Reid who came up with several aspects of this
approach, and Craig who helped me work out a couple of things tripping
me up while working on this.

Daniel Sanders 5281b02e84 [globalisel][legalizerinfo] Add support for the Lower action in getActionDefinitionsBuilder() and use it in AArch64.
Lower is slightly odd. It often doesn't change the type but the lowerings
do use the new type to decide what code to create. Treat it like a mutation
but provide convenience functions that re-use the existing type.

Aditya Nandakumar b1c467dbe7 [GISel] Refactor MachineIRBuilder to allow transformations while
building.

This change attempts to do two things:
1) It separates out the state that is stored in the
MachineIRBuilder(InsertionPt, MF, MRI, InsertFunction etc) into a
separate object called MachineIRBuilderState.
2) Add the ability to constant fold operations while building instructions
(optionally). MachineIRBuilder is now refactored into a MachineIRBuilderBase
which contains lots of non foldable build methods and their implementation.
Instructions which can be constant folded/transformed are now in a class
called FoldableInstructionBuilder which uses CRTP to use the implementation
of the derived class for buildBinaryOps. Additionally buildInstr in the derived
class can be used to implement other kinds of transformations.

Also because of separation of state, given a MachineIRBuilder in an API,
if one wishes to use another MachineIRBuilder, a new one can be
constructed from the state locally. For eg,

Pavel Labath 889bf9fe00 [CodeGen/AccelTable]: Don't emit accelerator entries for functions with no names
Summary:
We were emitting accelerator entries for functions with no name, which
is contrary to the DWARF v5 spec: "All other (i.e., *not*
DW_TAG_namespace) debugging information entries without a DW_AT_name
attribute are excluded." Besides that, a name table entry with an empty
string as a key is fairly useless.

We can sometimes end up with functions which have a DW_AT_linkage_name but no
DW_AT_name. One such example is the global-constructor-initialization functions,
which C++ compilers synthesize for each compilation unit with global
constructors.
A very strict reading of the DWARF v5 spec would suggest that we should not even
emit the accelerator entry for the linkage name in this case, but I don't think
we should go that far.

I found this when running the dwarf verifier over llvm codebase compiled
with DWARF v5 accelerator tables.

Michael Zolotukhin 8d052a0dd2 Remove MachineLoopInfo dependency from AsmPrinter.
Summary:
Currently MachineLoopInfo is used in only two places:
1) for computing IsBasicBlockInsideInnermostLoop field of MCCodePaddingContext, and it is never used.
2) in emitBasicBlockLoopComments, which is called only if `isVerbose()` is true.
Despite that, we currently have a dependency on MachineLoopInfo, which makes
pass manager to compute it and MachineDominator Tree. This patch removes the
use (1) and makes the use (2) lazy, thus avoiding some redundant
recomputations.

Tim Northover e25e458d52 Reapply ARM: Do not spill CSR to stack on entry to noreturn functions
Should fix UBSan bot by also checking there's no "uwtable" attribute
before skipping. Otherwise the unwind table will be useless since its
moves expect CSRs to actually be preserved.

A noreturn nounwind function can be expected to never return in any way, and by
never returning it will also never have to restore any callee-saved registers
for its caller. This makes it possible to skip spills of those registers during
function entry, saving some stack space and time in the process. This is rather
useful for embedded targets with limited stack space.

Should fix PR9970.

Matt Davis 13b8331054 [StackProtector] Ignore certain intrinsics when calculating sspstrong heuristic.
Summary:
The 'strong' StackProtector heuristic takes into consideration call instructions.
Certain intrinsics, such as lifetime.start, can cause the
StackProtector to protect functions that do not need to be protected.

Specifically, a volatile variable, (not optimized away), but belonging to a stack
allocation will encourage a llvm.lifetime.start to be inserted during
compilation. Because that intrinsic is a 'call' the strong StackProtector
will see that the alloca'd variable is being passed to a call instruction, and
insert a stack protector. In this case the intrinsic isn't really lowered to a
call. This can cause unnecessary stack checking, at the cost of additional
(wasted) CPU cycles.

In the future we should rely on TargetTransformInfo::isLoweredToCall, but as of
now that routine considers all intrinsics as not being lowerable. That needs
to be corrected, and such a change is on my list of things to get moving on.

As a side note, the updated stack-protector-dbginfo.ll test always seems to
pass.  I never see the dbg.declare/dbg.value reaching the
StackProtector::HasAddressTaken, but I don't see any code excluding dbg
intrinsic calls either, so I think it's the safest thing to do.

Francis Visoiu Mistrih 537d7eee90 [MIR] Add support for MachineFrameInfo::LocalFrameSize
MFI.LocalFrameSize was not serialized.

It is usually set from LocalStackSlotAllocation, so if that pass doesn't
run it is impossible do deduce it from the stack objects. Until now, this
information was lost.

Tim Northover b30388bf11 ARM: Do not spill CSR to stack on entry to noreturn functions
A noreturn nounwind function can be expected to never return in any way, and by
never returning it will also never have to restore any callee-saved registers
for its caller. This makes it possible to skip spills of those registers during
function entry, saving some stack space and time in the process. This is rather
useful for embedded targets with limited stack space.

Should fix PR9970.

Jessica Paquette bccd18b816 [MachineOutliner] Add `useMachineOutliner` target hook
The MachineOutliner has a bunch of target hooks that will call llvm_unreachable
if the target doesn't implement them. Therefore, if you enable the outliner on
such a target, it'll just crash. It'd be much better if it'd just *not* run
the outliner at all in this case.

This commit adds a hook to TargetInstrInfo that returns false by default.
Targets that implement the hook make it return true. The outliner checks the
return value of this hook to decide whether or not to continue.

Pavel Labath 6088c23431 Re-commit r329179 after fixing build&test issues
- MSVC was not OK with a static_assert referencing a non-static member
  variable, even though it was just in a sizeof(expression). I move the
  assert into the emit function, where it is probably more useful.
- Tests were failing in builds which did not have the X86 target
  configured. Since this functionality is not target-specific, I have
  removed the target specifiers from the .ll files.

Pavel Labath 69baab103a [CodeGen] Generate DWARF v5 Accelerator Tables
Summary:
This patch adds a DwarfAccelTableEmitter class, which generates an
accelerator table, as specified in DWARF v5 standard. At the moment it
only generates a DIE offset column and (if we are indexing more than one
compile unit) a CU column.

Indexing type units is not currently supported, as we don't even have
the ability to generate DWARF v5-compatible compile units.

The implementation is not data-source agnostic like the one generating
apple tables. This was not necessary as we currently only have one user
of this code, and without a second user it was not obvious to me how to
best abstract this. (The difference between these tables and the apple
ones is that they need a lot more metadata about the debug info they are
indexing).

The generation is triggered by the --accel-tables argument, which
supersedes the --dwarf-accel-tables arg -- the latter was a simple
on-off switch, but not we can choose between two kinds of accelerator
tables we can generate.

This is tested by parsing the generated tables with llvm-dwarfdump and
the DWARFVerifier, and I've also checked that GNU readelf is able to
make sense of the tables.

Recommitting rL321259. Previosuly this caused an issue with PPCBE but
I didn't receieve a reproducer and didn't have the time to follow up.
If the issue appears again, please provide a reproducer so I can fix
it.

If the SRL node is only used by an AND, we may be able to set the
ExtVT to the width of the mask, making the AND redundant. To support
this, another check has been added in isLegalNarrowLoad which queries
whether the load is valid.

Jessica Paquette d506bf8e3d [MachineOutliner][NFC] Make outlined functions have internal linkage
The linkage type on outlined functions was private before. This meant that if
you set a breakpoint in an outlined function, the debugger wouldn't be able to
give a sane name to the outlined function.

This commit changes the linkage type to internal and updates any tests that
relied on the prefixes on the names of outlined functions.

Tim Shen 1a8c6776a3 [BlockPlacement] Disable block placement tail duplciation in structured CFG.
Summary:
Tail duplication easily breaks the structure of CFG, e.g. duplicating on
a region entry. If the structure is intended to be preserved, then we
may want to configure tail duplication, or disable it for structured
CFG. From our benchmark results disabling it doesn't cause performance
regression.

Notice that this currently affects AMDGPU backend. In the next patch, I
also plan to turn on requiresStructuredCFG for NVPTX.

All unit tests still pass.

Eli Friedman 208fe67a78 [MachineCopyPropagation] Handle COPY with overlapping source/dest.
MachineCopyPropagation::CopyPropagateBlock has a bunch of special
handling for COPY instructions. This handling assumes that COPY
instructions do not modify the source of the copy; this is wrong if
the COPY destination overlaps the source.

To fix the bug, check explicitly for this situation, and fall back to
the generic instruction handling.

This bug can't happen for most register classes because they don't
have this sort of overlap, but there are a few register classes
where this is possible. The testcase uses the AArch64 QQQQ register
class.

Craig Topper 2fa1436206 [IR][CodeGen] Remove dependency on EVT from IR/Function.cpp. Move EVT to CodeGen layer.
Currently EVT is in the IR layer only because of Function.cpp needing a very small piece of the functionality of EVT::getEVTString(). The rest of EVT is used in codegen making CodeGen a better place for it.

The previous code converted a Type* to EVT and then called getEVTString. This was only expected to handle the primitive types from Type*. Since there only a few primitive types, we can just print them as strings directly.

the line table's list of files.  This makes the line table more
independent of the .debug_info section.

Fixes the bug found by asan. Also XFAIL the new test for Darwin, which
is stuck on DWARF v2, and fix up other tests so they stop failing on
Windows.  Last but not least, don't break "clang -g" of an assembler
file that has .file directives in it.

Mikael Holmen 6c062b7641 [RegisterCoalescing] Don't move COPY if it would interfere with another value
Summary:
RegisterCoalescer::removePartialRedundancy tries to hoist B = A from
BB0/BB2 to BB1:

  BB1:
       ...
  BB0/BB2:  ----
       B = A;   |
       ...      |
       A = B;   |
         |-------
         |

It does so if a number of conditions are fulfilled. However, it failed
to check if B was used by any of the terminators in BB1. Since we must
insert B = A before the terminators (since it's not a terminator itself),
this means that we could erroneously insert a new definition of B before a
use of it.

If a given split type unit does not have source locations, don't have
it refer to the split line table.
If no split type unit refers to the split line table, don't emit the
line table at all.

This will save a little space on rare occasions, but also refactors
things a bit to improve which class is responsible for what.

broke -print-machineinstrs for us on AMDGPU, because we have custom
pseudo source values, and MIR serialization does not implement that.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 3ca233414b [Pipeliner] Several node-ordering fixes
First, we change the heuristic that is used to ignore the recurrent
node-sets in the node ordering. In certain cases it's not important
to focus on the recurrent node-sets.  Instead, the algorithm begins
by considering all the instructions in the node ordering step.

Second, a minor change to the bottom up traversal, which needs to
consider loop carried dependences (modeled as anti dependences).
Previously, these instructions were skipped, which caused problems
because the instruction ends up having both predecessors and
sucessors in the schedule.

Third, consider anti-dependences as a tie breaker when choosing
between instructions in the node ordering. We want to make sure
that the source of the anti-dependence does not end up with both
predecesssors and sucessors in the final node ordering.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 8c07d0c42c [Pipeliner] Check for affine expression in isLoopCarriedOrder
The pipeliner must add a loop carried dependence between two memory
operations if the base register is not an affine (linear) exression.
The current implementation doesn't check how the base register is
defined, which allows non-affine expressions, and then the pipeliner
does not add a loop carried dependence when one is needed.

This patch adds code to isLoopCarriedOrder that checks if the base
register of the memory operations is defined by a phi, and the loop
definition for the phi is a constant increment value.  This is a very
simple check for a linear expression.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 9f041b1830 [Pipeliner] Add missing loop carried dependences
The pipeliner is not adding a dependence edge for a loop carried
dependence, and ends up scheduling a load from iteration n prior
to an aliased store in iteration n-1.

The code that adds the loop carried dependences in the pipeliner
doesn't check if the memory objects for loads and stores are
"identified" (i.e., distinct) objects. If they are not, then the
code that adds the dependences needs to be conservative. The
objects can be used to check dependences only when they are
distinct objects.

The code that checks for loop carried dependences has been updated
to classify loads and stores that are not identified as "unknown"
values. A store with an "unknown" value can potentially create
a loop carried dependence with any pending load.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 16e66f5901 [Pipeliner] Fix renaming in pipeliner when eliminating phis
The phi renaming code in the pipeliner uses the wrong value when
rewriting phi uses, which results in an undefined value. In this
case, the original phi is no longer needed due to the order of
instruction in the pipelined loop. The pipeliner was assuming, in
this case, the the phi loop definition should be used to
rewrite the uses. However, the pipeliner needs to check to make
sure that the loop definition has already been scheduled. If not,
then the phi initial value needs to be used instead.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 3f72a6b7a1 [Pipeliner] Fix number of phis to generate in the epilog
The pipeliner was generating too many phis in the epilog blocks, which
caused incorrect code generation when rewriting an instruction that uses
the phi.

In this case, there 3 prolog and epilog stages. An existing phi was
scheduled at stage 1. When generating the code for the 2nd epilog an
extra new phi was generated.

To fix this, we need to update the code that calculates the maximum
number of phis that can be generated, which is based upon the current
prolog stage and the stage of the original phi. In this case, when the
prolog stage is 1 and the original phi stage is 1, the maximum number
of phis to generate is 2.

Krzysztof Parzyszek a212204453 [Pipeliner] Use latency to compute RecMII
The patch contains severals changes needed to pipeline an example
that was transformed so that a Phi with a subreg is converted to
copies.

The pipeliner wasn't working for a couple of reasons.
- The RecMII was 3 instead of 2 due to the extra copies.
- Copy instructions contained a latency of 1.
- The node order algorithm was not choosing the best "bottom"
node, which caused an instruction to be scheduled that had a 
predecessor and successor already scheduled.
- Updated the Hexagon Machine Scheduler to check if the node is
latency bound when adding the cost for a 0-latency dependence.

The RecMII was 3 because the computation looks at the number of
nodes in the recurrence. The extra copy is an extra node but
it shouldn't increase the latency. The new RecMII computation
looks at the latency of the instructions in the recurrence. We
changed the latency of the dependence of a copy to 0. The latency
computation for the copy also checks the use of the copy (similar
to a reg_sequence).

The node order algorithm was not choosing the last instruction
in the recurrence for a bottom up traversal. This was when the
last instruction is a copy. A check was added when choosing the
instruction to check for NodeNum if the maxASAP is the same. This
means that the scheduler will not end up with another node in
the recurrence that has both a predecessor and successor already
scheduled.

The cost computation in Hexagon Machine Scheduler adds cost when
an instruction can be packetized with a zero-latency instruction.
We should only do this if the schedule is latency bound.

Krzysztof Parzyszek f13bbf1d58 [Pipeliner] Fix assert caused by pipeliner serialization
The pipeliner is asserting because the serialization step that 
occurs at the end is deleting an instruction.  The assert
occurs later on because there is a use without a definition.  

The problem occurs when an instruction defines a value used 
by a REQ_SEQUENCE and that value is used by a COPY instruction.
The latencies between these instructions are zero, so they are
put in to the same packet.  The serialization code is unable to
handle this correctly, and ends up putting the REG_SEQUENCE
before its definition.

There is special code in the serialization step that attempts
to handle zero-cost instructions (phis, copy, reg_sequence)
differently than regular instructions. Unfortunately, this means
the order does not come out correct.

This patch simplifies the code by changing the seperate steps for
handling zero-cost and regular instructions. Only phis are
handled separate now, since they should occurs first. Then, this
patch adds checks to make use the MoveUse is set to the smallest
value if there are multiple uses in a cycle.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 40df8a2b98 [Pipeliner] Enable more base+offset dependence changes in pipeliner
The pipeliner changes dependences between base+offset instructions
(loads and stores) so that the instructions have more flexibility
to be scheduled with respect to each other. This occurs when the
pipeliner is able to compute that the instructions will not alias
if their order is changed. The prevous code enforced the alias
property by checking if the base register is the same, and that the
offset values are either both positive or negative.

This patch improves the alias check by using the API
areMemAccessesTriviallyDisjoint instead. This enables more cases,
especially if the offset is a negative value. The pipeliner uses
the function by creating a new instruction with the offset used
in the next iteration.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 55cb4986a4 [Pipeliner] Fix calculation when reusing phis
A schedule may require that a phi from the original loop is used in
multiple iterations in the scheduled loop. When this occurs, we generate
multiple phis in the pipelined loop to save the value across iterations.

When we generate the new phis and update the register names in the
pipelined loop, the pipeliner attempts to reuse a previously generated
phi, when possible. The calculation for the name of the new phi needs
to account for the version/iteration of the original phi. Also, in the
epilog, the code only needs to check backwards for a previous iteration
until reaching the first prolog block.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 8e1363df4e [Pipeliner] Fix check for order dependences when finalizing instructions
The code in orderDepdences that looks at the order dependences between
instructions was processing all the successor and predecessor order
dependences. However, we really only want to check for an order dependence
for instructions scheduled in the same cycle.

Also, fixed how the pipeliner handles output dependences. An output
dependence is also a potential loop carried dependence. The pipeliner
didn't handle this case properly so an invalid schedule could be created
that allowed an output dependence to be scheduled in the next iteration
at the same cycle.

the pipeliner was assuming that the definition is processed first.

Krzysztof Parzyszek b9b75b8cb6 [Pipeliner] Pipeliner should mark physical registers as used
The software pipeliner attempts to delete dead instructions after
generating the pipelined loop. The code looks for uses of each 
instruction. Physical registers should be treated differently because
the use chains do not exist. The code that checks for dead 
instructions should assume that definitions of physical registers
are used if the operand doesn't contain the dead flag.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 785b6cec11 [Pipeliner] Correctly update memoperands in the epilog
The pipeliner needs to be conservative when updating the memoperands
of instructions in the epilog. Previously, the pipeliner was changing
the offset of the memoperand based upon the scheduling stage. However,
that is incorrect when control flow branches around the kernel code.
The bug enabled a load and store to the same stack offset to be swapped.

This patch fixes the bug by updating the size of the memoperands to be
UINT_MAX. This conservative value means that dependences will be created
between other loads and stores.

Zaara Syeda 6535993625 Re-commit: [MachineLICM] Add functions to MachineLICM to hoist invariant stores
This patch adds functions to allow MachineLICM to hoist invariant stores.
Currently, MachineLICM does not hoist any store instructions, however
when storing the same value to a constant spot on the stack, the store
instruction should be considered invariant and be hoisted. The function
isInvariantStore iterates each operand of the store instruction and checks
that each register operand satisfies isCallerPreservedPhysReg. The store
may be fed by a copy, which is hoisted by isCopyFeedingInvariantStore.
This patch also adds the PowerPC changes needed to consider the stack
register as caller preserved.

Jun Bum Lim 2ecb7ba4c6 [CodeGen] Add a new pass for PostRA sink
Summary:
This pass sinks COPY instructions into a successor block, if the COPY is not
used in the current block and the COPY is live-in to a single successor
(i.e., doesn't require the COPY to be duplicated).  This avoids executing the
the copy on paths where their results aren't needed.  This also exposes
additional opportunites for dead copy elimination and shrink wrapping.

These copies were either not handled by or are inserted after the MachineSink
pass. As an example of the former case, the MachineSink pass cannot sink
COPY instructions with allocatable source registers; for AArch64 these type
of copy instructions are frequently used to move function parameters (PhyReg)
into virtual registers in the entry block..

For the machine IR below, this pass will sink %w19 in the entry into its
successor (%bb.1) because %w19 is only live-in in %bb.1.

As we sink %w19 (CSR in AArch64) into %bb.1, the shrink-wrapping pass will be
able to see %bb.0 as a candidate.

With this change I observed 12% more shrink-wrapping candidate and 13% more dead copies deleted  in spec2000/2006/2017 on AArch64.

Transforms depends on Transforms/Utils, not the other way around. So

Move Transforms/Utils/Local.h into Analysis because it's used by
Analysis/MemoryBuiltins.cpp.

Krzysztof Parzyszek c715a5d2b8 [Hexagon] Eliminate subregisters from PHI nodes before pipelining
The pipeliner needs to remove instructions from the SlotIndexes
structure when they are deleted. Otherwise, the SlotIndexes map
has stale data, and an assert will occur when adding new
instructions.

This patch also changes the pipeliner to make the back-edge of
a loop carried dependence 1 cycle. The 1 cycle latency is added
to the anti-dependence that represents the back-edge. This
changes eliminates a couple of hacks added to the pipeliner to
handle the latency of the back-edge. It is needed to correctly
pipeline the test case for the sub-register elimination pass.

When building the selection DAG we sometimes need to postpone
the handling of a dbg.value until the value it should refer to
is created. This is done by using the DanglingDebugInfoMap.

Craig Topper c2dbd677bd [PowerPC][LegalizeFloatTypes] Move the PPC hacks for (i32 fp_to_sint/fp_to_uint (ppcf128 X)) out of LegalizeFloatTypes and into PPC specific code
I'm not entirely sure these hacks are still needed. If you remove the hacks completely, the name of the library call that gets generated doesn't match the grep the test previously had. So the test wasn't really checking anything.

If the hack is still needed it belongs in PPC specific code. I believe the FP_TO_SINT code here is the only place in the tree where a FP_ROUND_INREG node is created today. And I don't think its even being used correctly because the legalization returned a BUILD_PAIR with the same value twice. That doesn't seem right to me. By moving the code entirely to PPC we can avoid creating the FP_ROUND_INREG at all.

I replaced the grep in the existing test with full checks generated by hacking update_llc_test_check.py to support ppc32 just long enough to generate it.

Bjorn Pettersson bf3213e485 [CGP] Avoid segmentation fault when doing PHI node simplifications
Summary:
Made PHI node simplifiations more robust in several ways:

- Minor refactoring to let the SimplificationTracker own the
sets with new PHI/Select nodes that are introduced. This is
maybe not mapping to the original intention with the
SimplificationTracker, but IMHO it encapsulates the logic behind
those sets a little bit better.

- MatchPhiNode can sometimes populate the Matched set with
several entries, where it maps one PHI node to different candidates
for replacement. The Matched set is changed into a SmallSetVector
to make sure we get a deterministic iteration when doing
the replacements.

- As described above we may get several different replacements
for a single PHI node. The loop in MatchPhiSet that is doing
the replacements could end up calling eraseFromParent several
times for the same PHI node, resulting in segmentation faults.
This problem was supposed to be fixed in rL327250, but due to
the non-determinism(?) it only appeared to be fixed (I still
got crashes sometime when turning on/off -print-after-all etc
to get different iteration order in the DenseSets).
With this patch we follow the deterministic ordering in the
Matched set when replacing the PHI nodes. If we find a new
replacement for an already replaced PHI node we replace the
new replacement by the old replacement instead. This is quite
similar to what happened in the rl327250 patch, but here we
also recursively verify that the old replacement hasn't been
replaced already.

- It was really hard to track down the fault described above
(segementation fault due to doing eraseFromParent multiple
times for the same instruction). The fault was intermittent and
small changes in the code, or simply turning on -print-after-all
etc could make the problem go away. This was basically due to
the iteration over PhiNodesToMatch in MatchPhiSet no being
deterministic. Therefore I've changed the data structure for
the SimplificationTracker::AllPhiNodes into an SmallSetVector.
This gives a deterministic behavior.

Quentin Colombet 508f68233d [ShrinkWrap] Take into account landing pad
When scanning the function for CSRs uses and defs, also check if
the basic block are landing pads.
Consider that landing pads needs the CSRs to be properly set.
That way we force the prologue/epilogue to always be pushed out
of the problematic "throw" region. The "throw" region is
problematic because the jumps are not properly modeled.

Aaron Smith 6738960588 [SelectionDAG] Transfer DbgValues when integer operations are promoted
Summary:
DbgValue nodes were not transferred when integer DAG nodes were promoted. For example, if an i32 add node was promoted to an i64 add node by DAGTypeLegalizer::PromoteIntegerResult(), its DbgValue node was not transferred to the new node. The simple fix is to update SetPromotedInteger() to transfer DbgValues. 

Add AArch64/dbg-value-i8.ll to test this change and fix ARM/debug-info-d16-reg.ll which had the wrong DILocalVariable nodes with arg numbers even though they are not for function parameters.

Matt Davis 4b54e5fc38 [CodeGen] Avoid handling DBG_VALUE in the LivePhysRegs (addUses,removeDefs,stepForward)
Summary:
This patch prevents DBG_VALUE instructions from influencing
LivePhysRegs::stepBackwards and stepForwards.  In at least one case,
specifically branch folding, the stepBackwards logic was having an
influence on code generation.  The result was that certain code
compiled with '-g -O2' would differ from that compiled with '-O2'
alone. It seems that the original logic, accounting for DBG_VALUE,
was influencing the placement of an IMPLICIT_DEF which had a later
impact on how blocks were processed in branch folding.

X86 Supports Indirect Branch Tracking (IBT) as part of Control-Flow Enforcement Technology (CET).
IBT instruments ENDBR instructions used to specify valid targets of indirect call / jmp.
The `nocf_check` attribute has two roles in the context of X86 IBT technology:
	1. Appertains to a function - do not add ENDBR instruction at the beginning of the function.
	2. Appertains to a function pointer - do not track the target function of this pointer by adding nocf_check prefix to the indirect-call instruction.

This patch implements `nocf_check` context for Indirect Branch Tracking.
It also auto generates `nocf_check` prefixes before indirect branchs to jump tables that are guarded by range checks.

Craig Topper 1b8cf49704 [SelectionDAG][ARM][X86] Teach PromoteIntRes_SETCC to do a better job picking the result type for the setcc.
Previously if getSetccResultType returned an illegal type we just fell back to using the default promoted type. This appears to have been to handle the case where for vectors getSetccResultType returns the input type, but the input type itself isn't legal and will need to be promoted. Without the legality check we would never reach a legal type.

But just picking the promoted type to be the setcc type can create strange setccs where the result type is 128 bits and the operand type is 256 bits. If for example the result type was promoted to v8i16 from v8i1, but the input type was promoted from v8i23 to v8i32. We currently handle this with custom lowering code in X86.

This legality check also caused us reject the getSetccResultType when the input type needed to be widened or split. Even though that result wouldn't have caused legalization to get stuck.

This patch tries to fix this by detecting the getSetccResultType needs to be promoted. If its input type also needs to be promoted we'll try a ask for a new setcc result type based on its eventual promoted value. Otherwise we fall back to default type to promote to.

For any other illegal values we might get back from the initial call to getSetccResultType we just keep and allow it to be re-legalized later via splitting or widening or scalarizing.

Reid Kleckner 55baeefd54 [codeview] Delete FunctionInfo copy ctor and move out of DenseMap
We were unnecessarily copying a bunch of these FunctionInfo objects
around when rehashing the DenseMap.

Furthermore, r327620 introduced pointers referring to objects owned by
FunctionInfo, and the default copy ctor did the wrong thing in this
case, leading to use-after-free when the DenseMap gets rehashed.

I will rebase r327620 on this next and recommit it.

Reid Kleckner 3a7a2e4a0a [FastISel] Sink local value materializations to first use
Summary:
Local values are constants, global addresses, and stack addresses that
can't be folded into the instruction that uses them. For example, when
storing the address of a global variable into memory, we need to
materialize that address into a register.

FastISel doesn't want to materialize any given local value more than
once, so it generates all local value materialization code at
EmitStartPt, which always dominates the current insertion point. This
allows it to maintain a map of local value registers, and it knows that
the local value area will always dominate the current insertion point.

The downside is that local value instructions are always emitted without
a source location. This is done to prevent jumpy line tables, but it
means that the local value area will be considered part of the previous
statement. Consider this C code:

  ++global;     // line 2
  ++global;     // line 3
  call2(&global, &local); // line 4

Today we end up with assembly and line tables like this:

  .loc 1 4

The LEA instructions in the local value area have no source location and
are treated as being on line 1. Stepping through the code in a debugger
and correlating it with the assembly won't make much sense, because
these materializations are only required for line 4.

This is actually problematic for the VS debugger "set next statement"
feature, which effectively assumes that there are no registers live
across statement boundaries. By sinking the local value code into the
statement and fixing up the source location, we can make that feature
work. This was filed as https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35975 and
https://crbug.com/793819.

This change is obviously not enough to make this feature work reliably
in all cases, but I felt that it was worth doing anyway because it
usually generates smaller, more comprehensible -O0 code. I measured a
0.12% regression in code generation time with LLC on the sqlite3
amalgamation, so I think this is worth doing.

There are some special cases worth calling out in the commit message:
1. local values materialized for phis
2. local values used by no-op casts
3. dead local value code

Local values can be materialized for phis, and this does not show up as
a vreg use in MachineRegisterInfo. In this case, if there are no other
uses, this patch sinks the value to the first terminator, EH label, or
the end of the BB if nothing else exists.

Local values may also be used by no-op casts, which adds the register to
the RegFixups table. Without reversing the RegFixups map direction, we
don't have enough information to sink these instructions.

Lastly, if the local value register has no other uses, we can delete it.
This comes up when fastisel tries two instruction selection approaches
and the first materializes the value but fails and the second succeeds
without using the local value.

Arnold Schwaighofer bf1638daa8 SjLjEHPrepare: Don't reg-to-mem swifterror values
swifterror llvm values model the swifterror register as memory at the
LLVM IR level. ISel will perform adhoc mem-to-reg on them. swifterror
values are constraint in how they can be used. Spilling them to memory
is not allowed.

SjLjEHPrepare tried to lower swifterror values to memory which is
unecessary since the back-end will spill and reload the register as
neccessary (as long as clobbering calls are marked as such which is the
case here) and further leads to invalid IR because swifterror values
can't be stored to memory.

Sanjay Patel 5773ac3ee8 [CodeGen] allow printing of zero latency in sched comments
I don't know how to expose this in a test. There are ARM / AArch64 
sched classes that include zero latency instructions, but I'm not 
seeing sched info printed for those targets. X86 will almost 
certainly have these soon (see PR36671), but no model has
'let Latency = 0' currently.

Pavel Labath 0dd81bab92 Explicitly initialize dwarf::FormParams in DIEInteger::SizeOf
This could end up inititialized if someone called the function with a
null AsmPrinter. Right now this only happens in DIEHash unit tests,
presumably because it was hard to create an AsmPrinter in the context of
unit tests. This only worked before r327486 because those tests did not
use any dwarf forms whose size actually depended on the dwarf version
(otherwise, they would have crashed due to null dereference).

I fix the uninitialized error, by explicitly initializing FormParams to
an invalid value, which will cause getFixedFormByteSize to return None
if called with a form with version-dependent size. A more principled
solution might be to fix the DIEHash tests to always pass in a valid
AsmPrinter.

This patch replaces the two switches which are deducing the size of
various forms with a single implementation. I have put the new
implementation into BinaryFormat, to avoid introducing dependencies
between the two independent libraries (DebugInfo and CodeGen) that need

Craig Topper 4aeec51986 [DAGCombiner] Allow visitEXTRACT_SUBVECTOR to combine with BUILD_VECTORS between LegalizeVectorOps and LegalizeDAG.
BUILD_VECTORs aren't themselves legalized until LegalizeDAG so we should still be able to create an "illegal" one before that. This helps combine with BUILD_VECTORS that are introduced during LegalizeVectorOps due to unrolling.

Daniel Neilson 5182113f07 [SelectionDAGBuilder] Replace deprecated calls to MemoryIntrinsic::getAlignment() (NFCI)
Summary:
This change is part of step five in the series of changes to remove alignment argument from
memcpy/memmove/memset in favour of alignment attributes. In particular, this changes the
SelectionDAGBuilder to cease using the old getAlignment() API of MemoryIntrinsic in favour of getting
source & dest specific alignments through the new API.

Steps:
Step 1) Remove alignment parameter and create alignment parameter attributes for

Step 2) Expand the IRBuilder API to allow creation of memcpy/memmove with differing

Step 5) Update LLVM passes that create memcpy/memmove calls to use the new IRBuilder API,
