Lawrence D'Anna 2fce1137c7 Convert FileSystem::Open() to return Expected<FileUP>
Summary:
This patch converts FileSystem::Open from this prototype:

Status
Open(File &File, const FileSpec &file_spec, ...);

to this one:

llvm::Expected<std::unique_ptr<File>>
Open(const FileSpec &file_spec, ...);

This is beneficial on its own, as llvm::Expected is a more modern
and recommended error type than Status. It is also a necessary step
towards https://reviews.llvm.org/D67891, and further developments
for lldb_private::File.

Jonas Devlieghere 948786c929 File::SetDescriptor() should require options
lvm_private::File::GetStream() can fail if m_options == 0

It's not clear from the header a File created with a descriptor will be
not be usable by many parts of LLDB unless SetOptions is also called,
but it is.

This is because those parts of LLDB rely on GetStream() to use the
file, and that in turn relies on calling fdopen on the descriptor. When
calling fdopen, GetStream relies on m_options to determine the access
mode. If m_options has never been set, GetStream() will fail.

This patch adds options as a required argument to File::SetDescriptor
and the corresponding constructor.

Alex Langford 5b2b38e053 [Target] Move InferiorCall to Process
Summary:
InferiorCall is only ever used in Process, and it is not specific to
POSIX. By moving it to Process, we can remove all dependencies on plugins from
Process. Moving InferiorCall to Process seems to achieve this quite well.
Additionally, the name InferiorCall is a little vague now, so we rename
it something a bit more specific.

Jonas Devlieghere bcc24e46ba [Reproducer] Move GDB Remote Provider into Reproducer (NFC)
Originally the idea was for providers to be defined close to where they
are used. While this helped designing the providers in such a way that
they don't depend on each other, it also means that it's not possible to
access them from a central place. This proved to be a problem for some
providers and resulted in them living in the reproducer class.

The ProcessGDBRemote provider is the last remaining exception. This
patch makes things consistent and moves it into the reproducer like the
other providers.

When the replay server is out of packets we should just disconnect so
the debugger doesn't have to do any cleanup that it wouldn't do during
capture.

Prior to this fix, ELF files might contain PT_LOAD program headers that had a valid p_vaddr, and a valid file p_offset, but the p_filesz would be zero. For example in llvm-project/lldb/test/testcases/functionalities/postmortem/elf-core/thread_crash/linux-i386.core we see:

Prior to this fix if users tried to read memory from one of these addresses like 0x8048000, they would end up incorrectly reading from the next memory region that actually had a p_filesz which would be 0x00000000f778c000 in this case. This fix correctly doesn't include program headers with zero p_filesz in the ProcessELFCore::m_core_aranges that is used to read memory. I found two cores files that have this same issue and added tests.

Aleksandr Urakov 6179c0eb0d [Windows] Add support of watchpoints to `ProcessWindows`
Summary:
This patch adds support of watchpoints to the old `ProcessWindows` plugin.

The `ProcessWindows` plugin uses the `RegisterContext` to set and reset
watchpoints. The `RegisterContext` has some interface to access watchpoints,
but it is very limited (e.g. it is impossible to retrieve the last triggered
watchpoint with it), that's why I have implemented a slightly different
interface in the `RegisterContextWindows`. Moreover, I have made the
`ProcessWindows` plugin responsible for search of a vacant watchpoint slot,
because watchpoints exist per-process (not per-thread), then we can place
the same watchpoint in the same slot in different threads. With this scheme
threads don't need to have their own watchpoint lists, and it simplifies
identifying of the last triggered watchpoint.

This recommits r368416, which was reverted in r368838 because of test
failures under ASAN. These have been dealt with by llvm r369370.

The original commit message was:
When opening a minidump, we were failing to find an executable because
we were searching for i386-unknown-windows, whereas we recognize the
pe/coff files as i386-pc-windows. This fixes the triple computation code
in the minidump parser to match pe/coff, and adds an appropriate test.

NB: I'm not sure setting the vendor to "pc" is really correct for
arm(64) windows, but right now that seems to match what we do in the
pe/coff case (ArchSpec.cpp:935).

Accomplish this by adding a behaves_like_zeroth_frame field to

Also add logic to propagate the signal handler flag from UnwindPlan to
the FrameType on the RegisterContextLLDB it generates, and factor out a
helper to resolve symbol and address range for an Address now that we
need to invoke it in four places.

Right now our Properties.inc only generates the initializer for the

array definition is identical for all arrays, we might as well also let
the Properties.inc generate it alongside the initializers.

Unfortunately we cannot do the same for enums, as there's this magic

correctly. Hopefully we can get rid of this in the future and do the

Jonas Devlieghere 971f9ca612 Let tablegen generate property definitions
Property definitions are currently defined in a PropertyDefinition array
and have a corresponding enum to index in this array. Unfortunately this
is quite error prone. Indeed, just today we found an incorrect merge
where a discrepancy between the order of the enum values and their
definition caused the test suite to fail spectacularly.

Tablegen can streamline the process of generating the property
definition table while at the same time guaranteeing that the enums stay
in sync. That's exactly what this patch does. It adds a new tablegen
file for the properties, building on top of the infrastructure that
Raphael added recently for the command options. It also introduces two
new tablegen backends: one for the property definitions and one for
their corresponding enums.

It might be worth mentioning that I generated most of the tablegen
definitions from the existing property definitions, by adding a dump
method to the struct. This seems both more efficient and less error
prone that copying everything over by hand. Only Enum properties needed
manual fixup for the EnumValues and DefaultEnumValue fields.

Antonio Afonso d668260f1a Correctly use GetLoadedModuleList to take advantage of libraries-svr4
Summary:
Here's a replacement for D62504. I thought I could use LoadModules to implement this but in reality I can't because there are at few issues with it:
* The LoadModules assumes that the list returned by GetLoadedModuleList is comprehensive in the sense that reflects all the mapped segments, however, this is not true, for instance VDSO entry is not there since it's loaded manually by LoadVDSO using GetMemoryRegionInfo and it doesn't represent a specific shared object in disk. Because of this LoadModules will unload the VDSO module.
* The loader (interpreter) module might have also been loaded using GetMemoryRegionInfo, this is true when we launch the process and the rendezvous structure is not yet available (done through LoadInterpreterModule()). The problem here is that this entry will point to the same file name as the one found in /proc/pid/maps, however, when we read the same module from the r_debug.link_map structure it might be under a different name. This is true at least on CentOS where the loader is a symlink. Because of this LoadModules will unload and load the module in a way where the rendezvous breakpoint is unresolved but not resolved again (because we add the new module first and remove the old one after).

The symlink issue might be fixable by first unloading the old and loading the news (but sounds super brittle), however, I'm not sure how to fix the VDSO issue.
Since I can't trust it I'm just going to use GetLoadedModuleList directly with the same logic that we use today for when we read the linked list in lldb. The only safe thing to do here is to only calculate differences between different snapshots of the svr4 packet itself. This will also cut the dependency this plugin has from LoadModules.

I separated the 2 logics into 2 different functions (remote and not remote) because I don't like mixing 2 different logics in the same function with if/else's. Two different functions makes it easier to reason with I believe. However, I did abstract away the logic that decides if we should take a snapshot or add/remove modules so both functions could reuse it.

The other difference between the two is that on the UpdateSOEntriesFromRemote I take the snapshot only once when state = Consistent because I didn't find a good reason to always update that, as we already got the list from state = Add | Remove. I probably should use the same logic on UpdateSOEntries though I don't see a reason not to since it's really using the same data, just read in different places. Any thoughts here?

It might also be worthwhile to add a test to make sure we don't unload modules that were not actually "unloaded" like the vdso. I haven't done this yet though.
This diff is also missing the option for svr4 like proposed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D62503#1564296, I'll start working on this but wanted to have this up first.

used as such on aarch64 at least), and __restore_rt as well (used on
x86_64).

Skip decrement-and-recompute for trap handlers in
InitializeNonZerothFrame, as signal dispatch may point the child frame's
return address to the start of the return trampoline.

Parse the 'S' flag for signal handlers from eh_frame augmentation, and
propagate it to the unwind plan.

Jason Molenda be4be6120f Add support to ProcessMachCore::DoLoadCore to handle an EFI UUID str.
If a core file has an EFI version string which includes a UUID
(similar to what it returns for the kdp KDP_KERNELVERSION packet)
in the LC_IDENT or LC_NOTE 'kern ver str' load command. In that
case, we should try to find the binary and dSYM for the UUID
listed. The dSYM may have python code which knows how to relocate
the binary to the correct address in lldb's target section load
list and loads other ancillary binaries.

The test case is a little involved,

1. it compiles an inferior hello world apple (a.out),
2. it compiles a program which can create a corefile manually
   with a specific binary's UUID encoded in it,
3. it gets the UUID of the a.out binary,
4. it creates a shell script, dsym-for-uuid.sh, which will
   return the full path to the a.out + a.out.dSYM when called
   with teh correct UUID,
5. it sets the LLDB_APPLE_DSYMFORUUID_EXECUTABLE env var before
   creating the lldb target, to point to this dsym-for-uuid.sh,
6. runs the create-corefile binary we compiled in step #2,
7. loads the corefile from step #6 into lldb,
8. verifies that lldb loaded a.out by reading the LC_NOTE
   load command from the corefile, calling dsym-for-uuid.sh with
   that UUID, got back the path to a.out and loaded it.

2. It fixes another off-by-one-error, where an asynchronous ^C was

   sent when the process halt. During replay however, we instantly

Both packets should be ignored, and indeed, checking the gdb-remote log,
no unexpected packets are received anymore.

Antonio Afonso a7335393f5 Add ReadCStringFromMemory for faster string reads
Summary:
This is the fifth patch to improve module loading in a series that started here (where I explain the motivation and solution): D62499

Reading strings with ReadMemory is really slow when reading the path of the shared library. This is because we don't know the length of the path so use PATH_MAX (4096) and these strings are actually super close to the boundary of an unreadable page. So even though we use process_vm_readv it will usually fail because the read size spans to the unreadable page and we then default to read the string word by word with ptrace.

This new function is very similar to another ReadCStringFromMemory that already exists in lldb that makes sure it never reads cross page boundaries and checks if we already read the entire string by finding '\0'.

I was able to reduce the GetLoadedSharedLibraries call from 30ms to 4ms (or something of that order).

Antonio Afonso 57e2da4f32 Create a generic handler for Xfer packets
Summary:
This is the first of a few patches I have to improve the performance of dynamic module loading on Android.

In this first diff I'll describe the context of my main motivation and will then link to it in the other diffs to avoid repeating myself.

## Motivation
I have a few scenarios where opening a specific feature on an Android app takes around 40s when lldb is attached to it. The reason for that is because 40 modules are dynamicly loaded at that point in time and each one of them is taking ~1s.

## The problem
To learn about new modules we have a breakpoint on a linker function that is called twice whenever a module is loaded. One time just before it's loaded (so lldb can check which modules are loaded) and another right after it's loaded (so lldb can check again which ones are loaded and calculate the diference).
It's figuring out which modules are loaded that is taking quite some time. This is currently done by traversing the linked list of loaded shared libraries that the linker maintains in memory. Each item in the linked list requires its own `x` packet sent to the gdb server (this is android so the network also plays a part). In my scenario there are 400+ loaded libraries and even though we read 0x800 worth of bytes at a time we still make ~180 requests that end up taking 150-200ms.
We also do this twice, once before the module is loaded (state = eAdd) and another right after (state = eConsistent) which easly adds up to ~400ms per module.

## A solution

**Implement `xfer:libraries-svr4` in lldb-server:**
I noticed in the code that loads the new modules that it had support for the `xfer:libraries-svr4` packet (added ~4 years ago to support the ds2 debug server) but we didn't support it in lldb-server. This single packet returns an xml list of all the loaded modules by the process. The advantage is that there's no more need to make 180 requests to read the linked list. Additionally this new requests takes around 10ms.

**More efficient usage of the `xfer:libraries-svr4` packet in lldb:**
When `xfer:libraries-svr4` is available the Process class has a `LoadModules` function that requests this packet and then loads or unloads modules based on the current list of loaded modules by the process.
This is the function that is used by the DYLDRendezvous class to get the list of loaded modules before and after the module is loaded. However, this is really not needed since the LoadModules function already loaded or unloaded the modules accordingly. I changed this strategy to call LoadModules only once (after the process has loaded the module).

**Bugs**
I found a few issues in lldb while implementing this and have submitted independent patches for them.

I tried to devide this into multiple logical patches to make it easier to review and discuss.

## Tests

I wanted to put these set of diffs up before having all the tests up and running to start having them reviewed from a techical point of view. I'm also having some trouble making the tests running on linux so I need more time to make that happen.

# This diff

The `xfer` packages follow the same protocol, they are requested with `xfer:<object>:<read|write>:<annex>:<offset,length>` and a return that starts with `l` or `m` depending if the offset and length covers the entire data or not. Before implementing the `xfer:libraries-svr4` I refactored the `xfer:auxv` to generically handle xfer packets so we can easly add new ones.

The overall structure of the function ends up being:
* Parse the packet into its components: object, offset etc.
* Depending on the object do its own logic to generate the data.
* Return the data based on its size, the requested offset and length.

Antonio Afonso d556095135 Make ConnectionFileDescription work with all sockets
Summary:
My main goal here is to make lldb-server work with Android Studio.

This is currently not the case because lldb-server is started in platform mode listening on a domain socket. When Android Studio connects to it lldb-server crashes because even though it's listening on a domain socket as soon as it gets a connection it asserts that it's a TCP connection, which will obviously fails for any non-tcp connection.

To do this I came up with a new method called GetConnectURI() in Socket that returns the URI needed to connect to the connected portion of the socket.

This behavior is specified in the Section 6.4.2.3 (Register Rule

I'm not sure how come this wasn't noticed before, but I guess this has
something to do with the fact that dwarf unwind expressions are not used
very often, and when they are, the situation is so complicated that the
CFA is of no use. I noticed this when I started emitting dwarf
expressions for the unwind information present in breakpad symbol files.

Raphael Isemann 1756630dfa C.128 override, virtual keyword handling
Summary:
According to [C128] "Virtual functions should specify exactly one
of `virtual`, `override`, or `final`", I've added override where a
virtual function is overriden but the explicit `override` keyword
was missing. Whenever both `virtual` and `override` were specified,
I removed `virtual`. As C.128 puts it:

> [...] writing more than one of these three is both redundant and
> a potential source of errors.

I anticipate a discussion about whether or not to add `override` to
destructors but I went for it because of an example in [ISOCPP1000].
Let me repeat the comment for you here:

Consider this code:

```
    struct Base {
      virtual ~Base(){}
    };
    struct SubClass : Base {
      ~SubClass() {
        std::cout << "It works!\n";
      }
    };
    int main() {
      std::unique_ptr<Base> ptr = std::make_unique<SubClass>();
    }
```

If for some odd reason somebody removes the `virtual` keyword from the
`Base` struct, the code will no longer print `It works!`. So adding
`override` to destructors actively protects us from accidentally
breaking our code at runtime.

Jason Molenda c9f44cd4b6 RegisterContextLLDB::GetFullUnwindPlanForFrame has four verbose
logging messages that are written the same, making it difficult to
know for certain which code path was taken based on a logfile. Add
some words to make each unique.

Right now the ordering for finding a FullUnwindPlan (ignoring
fallback unwind plan logic) is

1. If this is a _sigtramp like function, try eh_frame which is
   hand written on darwin systems to account for finding the
   saved register context correctly.

2. Ask the DynamicLoader if eh_frame should be preferred for
   this frame. Some binaries on the system may have hand-written
   eh_frame and the DynamicLoader is the source for this. (primarily
   this is for hand-written assembly in the objc runtime, and we tell
   lldb to trust that for functions in libobjc.dylib.)

3. if 0th frame, use GetUnwindPlanAtNonCallSite plan.

4. GetUnwindPlanAtCallSite {for 0th or any other}

5. GetUnwindPlanAtNonCallSite {now for non-0th frames, only if not from a compiler? hm.}

6. GetUnwindPlanArchitectureDefaultAtFunctionEntry if we're on the first instruction

7. Architectural default unwind plan ABI::CreateDefaultUnwindPlan

I'm moving #6 -- DefaultAtFunctionEntry -- up to between #3 and #4,
where we're already doing things specific to the zeroth frame. If
we're on the zeroth frame and the GetUnwindPlanAtNonCallSite plan
has failed for some reason, and we're on the first instruction, we
should definitely use DefaultAtFunctionEntry instead of any other
unwind plan. If we're trying to step out of some rando function
on the system that we couldn't assembly instruction inspect, this
is sufficient for us to step out of it.

Fix bugs in piod_len return value processing in ReadMemory()

The EOF condition could happen if LLDB attempts to read past
vm.maxaddress, e.g. as a result of RBP containing large (invalid) value.
Previously, the 0 return caused the function to retry reading via PT_IO
indefinitely, effectively deadlooping lldb-server.

Partial reads probably did not occur in practice, yet they would cause
ReadMemory() to return incorrect bytes_read and/or overwrite previously
read data.

WriteMemory() suffered from analoguous problems.

Pavel Labath 2359429168 FuncUnwinders: remove "current_offset" from function arguments
Summary:
This argument was added back in 2010 (r118882) to support the ability to unwind
from functions whose eh_frame entry does not cover the entire range of
the function.

However, due to the caching happening in FuncUnwinders, this solution is
very fragile. FuncUnwinders will cache the plan it got from eh_frame
regardless of the value of the current_offset, so our ability to unwind
from a given function depended what was the value of "current_offset" the
first time that this function was called.

Furthermore, since the "image show-unwind" command did not know what's
the right offset to pass, this created an unfortunate situation where
"image show-unwind" would show no valid plans for a function, even
though they were available and being used.

In this patch I implement the feature slightly differently. Instead of
giving just a base address to the eh_frame unwinder, I give it the
entire range we are interested in. Then, I change the unwinder to return
the first plan that covers (even partially) that range. This way even a
partial plan will be returned, regardless of the address in the function
where we are stopped at.

This solution is still not 100% correct, as it will not handle a
function which is covered by two independent fde entries. However, I
don't expect anybody will write this kind of functions, and this wasn't
handled by the previous implementation either. If this is ever needed in
the future. The eh_frame unwinder can be extended to return "composite"
unwind plans created by merging sevelar fde entries.

I also create a test which triggers this scenario. As doing this is
virtually impossible without hand-written assembly, the test only works
on x86 linux.

Pavel Labath 71b88b91f7 Minidump: extend UUID byte-swapping to windows platform
Summary:
D59433 added code to swap bytes UUIDs coming from minidump files, but
only enabled it for apple platforms. Based on my research, I believe
this is the correct thing to do for windows as well, as the natural way
of printing U(G)UIDs on this platforms is to print the first three
components as (4 or 2)-byte integers printed in natural (big-endian)
order. This makes the UUID string coming out of lldb match the strings
produced by other windows tools.

The decision to byte-swap the age field is somewhat arbitrary, because
the age field is usually printed separately from the file GUID (and
often in decimal). However, for our purposes (telling whether two files
are identical), including it in the UUID is correct, and printing it in
big-endian makes it easier to recognize the age value.

This also makes the UUIDs generated here (almost) match up with the
UUIDs computed for breakpad symbol files
(BreakpadRecords.cpp:parseModuleId), which already implemented the
byte-swapping. The "almost" is here because ObjectFileBreakpad does not
swap the age field, but I'll fix that in a follow-up.

There is no UUID support in ObjectFileCOFF at the moment, but ideally
the algorithms used here and in ObjectFileCOFF should be in sync so that
object file matching works correctly.

Its use is not really consistent across the code base, sometimes the

Furthermore, when /// is used for Doxygen comments, it looks
particularly odd. And when // is used, it incorrectly gives the
impression that it's actually a Doxygen comment.

I assume these lines were added to improve distinguishing between
comments and code. However, given that todays editors and IDEs do a
great job at highlighting comments, I think it's worth to drop this for
the sake of consistency. The alternative is fixing all the

I also increased all of them to the maximum value among them.

The motivation for this test was the observation that an asanified

traced back to debugserver packets getting out of sync. With this path
applied I can no longer reproduce the one particular failure mode that

Pavel Labath 98edcd9b9c MinidumpParser: use minidump parser in llvm/Object
This patch removes the lower layers of the minidump parsing code from
the MinidumpParser class, and replaces it with the minidump parser in
llvm.

Not all functionality is already avaiable in the llvm class, but it is
enough for us to be able to stop enumerating streams manually, and rely
on the minidump directory parsing code from the llvm class.

This also removes some checked-in binaries which were used to test error
handling in the parser, as the error handling is now done (and tested)
in llvm. Instead I just add one test that ensures we correctly propagate
the errors reported by the llvm parser. The input for this test can be
written in yaml instead of a checked-in binary.

Greg Clayton bbc428e93a Attempt #2 to get this patch working. I will watch the build bots carefully today.
Allow partial UUID matching in Minidump core file plug-in

Breakpad had bugs in earlier versions where it would take a 20 byte ELF build ID and put it into the minidump file as a 16 byte PDB70 UUID with an age of zero. This would make it impossible to do postmortem debugging with one of these older minidump files.

This fix allows partial matching of UUIDs. To do this we first try and match with the full UUID value, and then fall back to removing the original directory path from the module specification and we remove the UUID requirement, and then manually do the matching ourselves. This allows scripts to find symbols files using a symbol server, place them all in a directory, use the "setting set target.exec-search-paths" setting to specify the directory, and then load the core file. The Target::GetSharedModule() can then find the correct file without doing any other matching and load it.

Tests were added to cover a partial UUID match where the breakpad file has a 16 byte UUID and the actual file on disk has a 20 byte UUID, both where the first 16 bytes match, and don't match.

Pavel Labath 38a8241321 [Linux/x86] Fix writing of non-gpr registers on newer processors
Summary:
We're using ptrace(PTRACE_SETREGSET, NT_X86_XSTATE) to write all non-gpt
registers on x86 linux. Unfortunately, this method has a quirk, where
the kernel rejects all attempts to write to this area if one supplies a
buffer which is smaller than the area size (even though the kernel will
happily accept partial reads from it).

This means that if the CPU supports some new registers/extensions that
we don't know about (in my case it was the PKRU extension), we will fail
to write *any* non-gpr registers, even those that we know about.

Since this is a situation that's likely to appear again and again, I add
code to NativeRegisterContextLinux_x86_64 to detect the runtime size of
the area, and allocate an appropriate buffer. This does not mean that we
will start automatically supporting all new extensions, but it does mean
that the new extensions will not prevent the old ones from working.

This fixes tests attempting to write to non-gpr registers on new intel
processors (cca Kaby Lake Refresh).

Pavel Labath ee7ceacaca minidump: Add ability to attach (breakpad) symbol files to placeholder modules
This re-commits r354263, which was because it uncovered with handling of
modules with empty (zero) UUIDs. This would cause us to treat two
modules as intentical even though they were not. This caused an assert
in PlaceholderObjectFile::SetLoadAddress to fire, because we were trying
to load the module twice even though it was designed to be only loaded
at a specific address. (The same problem also existed with the previous
implementation, but it had no asserts to warn us about this.) These
issues have now been fixed in r356896.

windows bot. The issue there was that ObjectFilePECOFF vended its base
address through the incorrect interface. SymbolFilePDB depended on that,
which lead to assertion failures when SymbolFilePDB was attempting to
use the placeholder object files as a base. This has been fixed in
r354258

The original commit message was:

The reason this wasn't working was that ProcessMinidump was creating odd
object-file-less modules, and SymbolFileBreakpad required the module to
have an associated object file because it needed to get its base
address.

This fixes that by introducing a PlaceholderObjectFile to serve as a
dummy object file. The general idea for this is taken from D55142, but
I've reworked it a bit to avoid the need for the PlaceholderModule
class. Now that we have an object file, our modules are sufficiently
similar to regular modules that we can use the regular Module class
almost out of the box -- the only thing I needed to tweak was the
Module::CreateModuleFromObjectFile functon to set the module's FileSpec
in addition to it's architecture. This wasn't needed for ObjectFileJIT
(the other user of CreateModuleFromObjectFile), but it shouldn't hurt it
either, and the change seems like a straightforward extension of this
function.

Jonas Devlieghere 528ce4dd98 [Reproducers] Fix GDB remote flakiness during replay
This fixes the flakiness of the GDB remote reproducer during replay. It
was caused by a combination sending one ACK to many from the replay
server and the code that "flushes" any queued GDB remote packets in
GDBRemoteCommunicationClient::HandshakeWithServer.

The spurious ACK was the result of combining both implicit and explicit
handling of ACKs in the replay server. The handshake consists of an ACK
followed by an QStartNoAckMode. As long as we haven't seen any
QStartNoAckMode, we were sending implicit acknowledgments. So the first
ACK got acknowledged twice, once implicitly, and once as part of the
replay.

The reason we didn't notice this was the code in HandshakeWithServer
that "waits for any responses that might have been queued up in the
remote GDB server and flush them all". A 10ms timeout is used to move on
when no packets are left. If the second ACK didn't make it within those
10ms, all packets were offset by one.

Greg Clayton 621e8b4387 Fix UUID decoding from minidump files
This patch fixes:

UUIDs now don't include the age field from a PDB70 when the age is zero. Prior to this they would incorrectly contain the zero age which stopped us from being able to match up the UUID with real files.
UUIDs for Apple targets get the first 32 bit value and next two 16 bit values swapped. Breakpad incorrectly swaps these values when it creates darwin minidump files, so this must be undone so we can match up symbol files with the minidump modules.
UUIDs that are all zeroes are treated as invalid UUIDs. Breakpad will always save out a UUID, even if one wasn't available. This caused all files that have UUID values of zero to be uniqued to the first module that had a zero UUID. We now don't fill in the UUID if it is all zeroes.
Added tests for PDB70 and ELF build ID based CvRecords.

be implemented to provide user/group ID resolution capabilities for

that using posix apis (getpwuid and friends). PlatformGDBRemote
forwards queries over the gdb-remote link, etc. ProcessInstanceInfo
class is refactored to make use of this interface instead of taking a
platform pointer as an argument. The base resolver class already
implements caching and thread-safety, so implementations don't have to
worry about that.

The main motivating factor for this was to remove external dependencies
from the ProcessInstanceInfo class (so it can be put next to
ProcessLaunchInfo and friends), but it has other benefits too:
- ability to test the user name caching code
- ability to test ProcessInstanceInfo dumping code
- consistent interface for user/group resolution between Platform and
  Host classes.

Given that we have a target named Symbols, one wonders why a
file named Symbols.cpp is not in this target. To be clear,
the functions exposed from this file are really focused on
*locating* a symbol file on a given host, which is where the
ambiguity comes in. However, it makes more sense conceptually
to be in the Symbols target. While some of the specific places
to search for symbol files might change depending on the Host,
this is not inherently true in the same way that, for example,
"accessing the file system" or "starting threads" is
fundamentally dependent on the Host.

PDBs, for example, recently became a reality on non-Windows platforms,
and it's theoretically possible that DSYMs could become a thing on non
MacOSX platforms (maybe in a remote debugging scenario). Other types of
symbol files, such as DWO, DWP, etc have never been tied to any Host
platform anyway.

After this patch, there is only one remaining dependency from
Host to Target.

the same UUID, we will not create to placeholder modules for them, but
instead reuse the first one for the second instance. This creates a
problem because these modules have their load address hardcoded in them

Technically this is not a problem with this patch, as the same issue

which would diagnose that. Nonetheless, I am reverting this until I

which lead to assertion failures when SymbolFilePDB was attempting to

It also fixes one small problem in the original patch. The issue was that the
Module class would attempt to overwrite the object file we created in
CreateModuleFromObjectFile if the file corresponding to the placeholder object
file happened to exist (but we have already disqualified it due to UUID
mismatch. The fix is simple -- we set the m_did_load_objfile flag to properly

Pavel Labath 4f85014dff Remove alignment from struct XSAVE altogether
I reduced the alignment of this struct in r342029 to avoid compiler
warnings about under-aligned allocations, but it turns out that this
still causes problems with some compilers (see r353778). As I hinted in
r342029, I don't believe any special aligment is necessary here (the
only reason for that would be if we used some aligned SSE instructions to
access this buffer, but I don't see any reason why we should do that),
so here I go all the way, and remove the alignment requirements (except
the ones naturally imposed by basic types) altogether.

Jonas Devlieghere d5b440369d Replace 'ap' with 'up' suffix in variable names. (NFC)
The `ap` suffix is a remnant of lldb's former use of auto pointers,
before they got deprecated. Although all their uses were replaced by
unique pointers, some variables still carried the suffix.

In r353795 I removed another auto_ptr remnant, namely redundant calls to
::get for unique_pointers. Jim justly noted that this is a good
opportunity to clean up the variable names as well.

I went over all the changes to ensure my find-and-replace didn't have
any undesired side-effects. I hope I didn't miss any, but if you end up
at this commit doing a git blame on a weirdly named variable, please

Pavel Labath 734648bb4a minidump: Add ability to attach (breakpad) symbol files to placeholder modules
Summary:

(the other user of CreateModuleFromObjectFile), but it shouldn't hurt it
either, and the change seems like a straightforward extension of this
function.

Summary:
These classes describe the details of the process we are about to
launch, and so they are naturally used by the launching code in the Host
module. Previously they were present in Target because that is the most
important (but by far not the only) user of the launching code.

Since the launching code has other customers, must of which do not care
about Targets, it makes sense to move these classes to the Host layer,
next to the launching code.

This move reduces the number of times that Target is included from host
to 8 (it used to be 14).

`HAVE_LIBCOMPRESSION` works, as this was previously always defined on macOS within the source file
but not in the header. Now it's always defined from within our config header when CMake defines it or when
we are on macOS.

The field initialization was moved to the header to prevent that we have `#ifdef` within our initializer list.

In the original reproducer design, I expected providers to be more
dynamic than they turned out. For example, we don't have any instances
where one provider has multiple files. Additionally, I expected there to
be less locality between capture and replay, with the provider being
defined in one place and the replay code to live in another. Both
contributed to the design of the provider info.

This patch refactors the reproducer info to be something static. This
means less magic strings and better type checking. The new design still
allows for the capture and replay code to live in different places as
long as they both have access to the new statically defined info class.

I didn't completely get rid of the index, because it is useful for (1)
sanity checking and (2) knowing what files are used by the reproducer.

The only piece of logic that was useful elsewhere (lldb-server) was the

as ProcessLaunchInfo::SetUpPtyRedirection.

This makes ProcessLaunchInfo independent of any high-level lldb constructs.

is still a lot of duplication in this file, as it is hard to tell which
quirk of some API is depended on by somebody (and, a previous, more
ambitious attempt at this in D16769 has failed).

The MinidumpParser::GetFilteredModuleList() code was attempting to iterate through the entire module list and if it found more than one entry for a given module name, it wanted to pick the MinidumpModule with the lowest address. A bug existed where it wasn't doing that due to "exists" variable being inverted. "exists" was set to true if it was inserted, not if it existed. Furthermore, the order of the modules would be modified by sorting all modules from low address to high address (using MinidumpModule::base_of_image). This fix also maintains the original order which means your executable is at index 0 as intended instead of some random shared library.

Tests were added to ensure this functionality doesn't regress.

Aleksandr Urakov e0366d1db5 [PDB] Support PDB-backed expressions evaluation
Summary:
This patch contains several small fixes, which makes it possible to evaluate
expressions on Windows using information from PDB. The changes are:
- several sanitize checks;
- make IRExecutionUnit::MemoryManager::getSymbolAddress to not return a magic
  value on a failure, because callers wait 0 in this case;
- entry point required to be a file address, not RVA, in the ObjectFilePECOFF;
- do not crash on a debuggee second chance exception - it may be an expression
  evaluation crash;
- create parameter declarations for functions in AST to make it possible to call
  debugee functions from expressions;
- relax name searching rules for variables, functions, namespaces and types. Now
  it works just like in the DWARF plugin;
- fix endless recursion in SymbolFilePDB::ParseCompileUnitFunctionForPDBFunc.

Jonas Devlieghere 68ed93d252 [Reproducers] Improve reproducer API and add unit tests.
When I landed the initial reproducer framework I knew there were some
things that needed improvement. Rather than bundling it with a patch
that adds more functionality I split it off into this patch. I also
think the API is stable enough to add unit testing, which is included in
this patch as well.

Other improvements include:

 - Refactor how we initialize the loader and generator.
 - Improve naming consistency: capture and replay seems the least ambiguous.
 - Index providers by name and make sure there's only one of each.
 - Add convenience methods for creating and accessing providers.

Zachary Turner fca18e94e1 Fix some compilation failures introduced in recent patches.
This fixes two compilation failures:

  1) Designated initializers are C++20. We can't use them in LLVM.
  2) thread_result_t is not a pointer type on all platforms, so
     returning nullptr is an error.

This patch removes the comments grouping header includes. They were
added after running IWYU over the LLDB codebase. However they add little

This moves construction of data buffers into the FileSystem class. Like
some of the previous refactorings we don't translate the path yet
because the functionality hasn't been landed in LLVM yet.
