Serge Guelton 5fd75fb72e Turn some C-style vararg into variadic templates
Module::getOrInsertFunction is using C-style vararg instead of
variadic templates.

From a user prospective, it forces the use of an annoying nullptr
to mark the end of the vararg, and there's not type checking on the
arguments. The variadic template is an obvious solution to both
issues.

Matt Arsenault 3c1fc768ed Allow DataLayout to specify addrspace for allocas.
LLVM makes several assumptions about address space 0. However,
alloca is presently constrained to always return this address space.
There's no real way to avoid using alloca, so without this
there is no way to opt out of these assumptions.

The problematic assumptions include:
- That the pointer size used for the stack is the same size as
the code size pointer, which is also the maximum sized pointer.

- That 0 is an invalid, non-dereferencable pointer value.

These are problems for AMDGPU because alloca is used to
implement the private address space, which uses a 32-bit
index as the pointer value. Other pointers are 64-bit
and behave more like LLVM's notion of generic address
space. By changing the address space used for allocas,
we can change our generic pointer type to be LLVM's generic
pointer type which does have similar properties.

Evgeniy Stepanov 6c3a8cbc4d [asan] Fix dead stripping of globals on Linux.
Use a combination of !associated, comdat, @llvm.compiler.used and
custom sections to allow dead stripping of globals and their asan
metadata. Sometimes.

Currently this works on LLD, which supports SHF_LINK_ORDER with
sh_link pointing to the associated section.

This also works on BFD, which seems to treat comdats as
all-or-nothing with respect to linker GC. There is a weird quirk
where the "first" global in each link is never GC-ed because of the
section symbols.

At this moment it does not work on Gold (as in the globals are never
stripped).

This is a re-land of r298158 rebased on D31358. This time,
asan.module_ctor is put in a comdat as well to avoid quadratic
behavior in Gold.

Evgeniy Stepanov 5dfe420d10 [asan] Put ctor/dtor in comdat.
When possible, put ASan ctor/dtor in comdat.

The only reason not to is global registration, which can be
TU-specific. This is not the case when there are no instrumented
globals. This is also limited to ELF targets, because MachO does
not have comdat, and COFF linkers may GC comdat constructors.

The benefit of this is a lot less __asan_init() calls: one per DSO
instead of one per TU. It's also necessary for the upcoming
gc-sections-for-globals change on Linux, where multiple references to
section start symbols trigger quadratic behaviour in gold linker.

This is a rebase of r298756.

Reid Kleckner 392f062675 [sancov] Don't instrument blocks with no insertion point
This prevents crashes when attempting to instrument functions containing
C++ try.

Sanitizer coverage will still fail at runtime when an exception is
thrown through a sancov instrumented function, but that seems marginally
better than what we have now. The full solution is to color the blocks
in LLVM IR and only instrument blocks that have an unambiguous color,
using the appropriate token.

Reid Kleckner b518054b87 Rename AttributeSet to AttributeList
Summary:
This class is a list of AttributeSetNodes corresponding the function
prototype of a call or function declaration. This class used to be
called ParamAttrListPtr, then AttrListPtr, then AttributeSet. It is
typically accessed by parameter and return value index, so
"AttributeList" seems like a more intuitive name.

Rename AttributeSetImpl to AttributeListImpl to follow suit.

It's useful to rename this class so that we can rename AttributeSetNode
to AttributeSet later. AttributeSet is the set of attributes that apply
to a single function, argument, or return value.

Users often call getArgumentList().size(), which is a linear way to get
the number of function arguments. arg_size(), on the other hand, is
constant time.

In general, the fact that arguments are stored in an iplist is an
implementation detail, so I've removed it from the Function interface
and moved all other users to the argument container APIs (arg_begin(),
arg_end(), args(), arg_size()).

Vedant Kumar 55891fc71e Re-apply "[profiling] Remove dead profile name vars after emitting name data"
This reverts 295092 (re-applies 295084), with a fix for dangling
references from the array of coverage names passed down from frontends.

I missed this in my initial testing because I only checked test/Profile,
and not test/CoverageMapping as well.

Original commit message:

The profile name variables passed to counter increment intrinsics are dead
after we emit the finalized name data in __llvm_prf_nm. However, we neglect to
erase these name variables. This causes huge size increases in the
__TEXT,__const section as well as slowdowns when linker dead stripping is
disabled. Some affected projects are so massive that they fail to link on
Darwin, because only the small code model is supported.

Fix the issue by throwing away the name constants as soon as we're done with
them.

Section ".SCOV$M" will hold the main data.
Section ".SCOV$Z" will only hold a variable ___stop___sancov_guards.

When linking, they will be merged sorted by the characters after the $, so we
can use the pointers of the variables ___[start|stop]___sancov_guard to know the
actual range of addresses of that section.

When using profiling and ASan together (-fprofile-instr-generate -fcoverage-mapping -fsanitize=address), at least on Darwin, the section of globals that ASan emits (__asan_globals) is misaligned and starts at an odd offset. This really doesn't have anything to do with profiling, but it triggers the issue because profiling emits a string section, which can have arbitrary size. This patch changes the alignment to sizeof(GlobalStruct).

Rong Xu ef1adad938 [PGO] Turn off comdat renaming in IR PGO by default
Summary:
In IR PGO we append the function hash to comdat functions to avoid the
potential hash mismatch. This turns out not legal in some cases: if the comdat
function is address-taken and used in comparison. Renaming changes the semantic.

This patch turns off comdat renaming by default.

To alleviate the hash mismatch issue, we now rename the profile variable
for comdat functions. Profile allows co-existing multiple versions of profiles
with different hash value. The inlined copy will always has the correct profile
counter. The out-of-line copy might not have the correct count. But we will
not have the bogus mismatch warning.

Adrian Prantl bceaaa9643 [IR] Remove the DIExpression field from DIGlobalVariable.
This patch implements PR31013 by introducing a
DIGlobalVariableExpression that holds a pair of DIGlobalVariable and
DIExpression.

Currently, DIGlobalVariables holds a DIExpression. This is not the
best way to model this:

(1) The DIGlobalVariable should describe the source level variable,
not how to get to its location.

(2) It makes it unsafe/hard to update the expressions when we call
    replaceExpression on the DIGLobalVariable.

(3) It makes it impossible to represent a global variable that is in
more than one location (e.g., a variable with multiple
DW_OP_LLVM_fragment-s). We also moved away from attaching the
DIExpression to DILocalVariable for the same reasons.

This reapplies r289902 with additional testcase upgrades and a change
to the Bitcode record for DIGlobalVariable, that makes upgrading the
old format unambiguous also for variables without DIExpressions.

I forgot to implement a Bitcode upgrade for the case where a DIGlobalVariable

My plan of record is to roll the planned follow-up patch that adds a
unit: field to DIGlobalVariable into this patch before recomitting.
This way we only need one Bitcode upgrade for both changes (with a
version flag in the bitcode record to safely distinguish the record
formats).

Summary:
This is similar to what was done for Darwin in rL264645 /
http://reviews.llvm.org/D16737, but it uses COFF COMDATs to achive the
same result instead of relying on new custom linker features.

As on MachO, this creates one metadata global per instrumented global.
The metadata global is placed in the custom .ASAN$GL section, which the
ASan runtime will iterate over during initialization. There are no other
references to the metadata, so normal linker dead stripping would
discard it. However, the metadata is put in a COMDAT group with the
instrumented global, so that it will be discarded if and only if the
instrumented global is discarded.

I didn't update the ASan ABI version check since this doesn't affect
non-Windows platforms, and the WinASan ABI isn't really stable yet.

Implementing this for ELF will require extending LLVM IR and MC a bit so
that we can use non-COMDAT section groups.

This implements a function annotation that disables TSan checking for the

is that the accesses within the callees will also be suppressed.

The motivation for this attribute is a guarantee given by the objective C
language that the calls to the reference count decrement and object
deallocation will be synchronized. To model this properly, we would need
to intercept all ref count decrement calls (which are very common in ObjC
due to use of ARC) and also every single message send. Instead, we propose
to just ignore all accesses made from within dealloc at run time. The main
downside is that this still does not introduce any synchronization, which
means we might still report false positives if the code that relies on this
synchronization is not executed from within dealloc. However, we have not seen
this in practice so far and think these cases will be very rare.

On Darwin, simple C null-terminated constant strings normally end up in the __TEXT,__cstring section of the resulting Mach-O binary. When instrumented with ASan, these strings are transformed in a way that they cannot be in __cstring (the linker unifies the content of this section and strips extra NUL bytes, which would break instrumentation), and are put into a generic __const section. This breaks some of the tools that we have: Some tools need to scan all C null-terminated strings in Mach-O binaries, and scanning all the contents of __const has a large performance penalty. This patch instead introduces a special section, __asan_cstring which will now hold the instrumented null-terminated strings.

Nick Lewycky 97e49ac59e Add -fprofile-dir= to clang.
-fprofile-dir=path allows the user to specify where .gcda files should be
emitted when the program is run. In particular, this is the first flag that
causes the .gcno and .o files to have different paths, LLVM is extended to
support this. -fprofile-dir= does not change the file name in the .gcno (and
thus where lcov looks for the source) but it does change the name in the .gcda
(and thus where the runtime library writes the .gcda file). It's different from
a GCOV_PREFIX because a user can observe that the GCOV_PREFIX_STRIP will strip
paths off of -fprofile-dir= but not off of a supplied GCOV_PREFIX.

To implement this we split -coverage-file into -coverage-data-file and
-coverage-notes-file to specify the two different names. The !llvm.gcov
metadata node grows from a 2-element form {string coverage-file, node dbg.cu}
to 3-elements, {string coverage-notes-file, string coverage-data-file, node
dbg.cu}. In the 3-element form, the file name is already "mangled" with
.gcno/.gcda suffixes, while the 2-element form left that to the middle end
pass.

Rong Xu 705f7775bb [PGO] Fix profile mismatch in COMDAT function with pre-inliner
Pre-instrumentation inline (pre-inliner) greatly improves the IR
instrumentation code performance, among other benefits. One issue of the
pre-inliner is it can introduce CFG-mismatch for COMDAT functions. This
is due to the fact that the same COMDAT function may have different early
inline decisions across different modules -- that means different copies
of COMDAT functions will have different CFG checksum.

In this patch, we propose a partially renaming the COMDAT group and its
member function/variable so we have different profile counter for each
version. We will post-fix the COMDAT function and the group name with its
FunctionHash.

See the bug report at https://github.com/google/sanitizers/issues/691. When a dynamic alloca has a constant size, ASan instrumentation will treat it as a regular dynamic alloca (insert calls to poison and unpoison), but the backend will turn it into a regular stack variable. The poisoning/unpoisoning is then broken. This patch will treat such allocas as static.

Peter Collingbourne 96efdd6107 IR: Introduce local_unnamed_addr attribute.
If a local_unnamed_addr attribute is attached to a global, the address
is known to be insignificant within the module. It is distinct from the
existing unnamed_addr attribute in that it only describes a local property
of the module rather than a global property of the symbol.

This attribute is intended to be used by the code generator and LTO to allow
the linker to decide whether the global needs to be in the symbol table. It is
possible to exclude a global from the symbol table if three things are true:
- This attribute is present on every instance of the global (which means that
the normal rule that the global must have a unique address can be broken without
being observable by the program by performing comparisons against the global's
  address)
- The global has linkonce_odr linkage (which means that each linkage unit must have
its own copy of the global if it requires one, and the copy in each linkage unit
  must be the same)
- It is a constant or a function (which means that the program cannot observe that
the unique-address rule has been broken by writing to the global)

Although this attribute could in principle be computed from the module
contents, LTO clients (i.e. linkers) will normally need to be able to compute
this property as part of symbol resolution, and it would be inefficient to
materialize every module just to compute it.

Xinliang David Li 7008ce3f98 [profile] value profiling bug fix -- missing icall targets in profile-use
Inline virtual functions has linkeonceodr linkage (emitted in comdat on
supporting targets). If the vtable for the class is not emitted in the
defining module, function won't be address taken thus its address is not
recorded. At the mercy of the linker, if the per-func prf_data from this
module (in comdat) is picked at link time, we will lose mapping from
function address to its hash val. This leads to missing icall promotion.
The second test case (currently disabled) in compiler_rt (r271528):
instrprof-icall-prom.test demostrates the bug. The first profile-use
subtest is fine due to linker order difference.

With this change, no missing icall targets is found in instrumented clang's
raw profile.

Rong Xu a12f6d3c7b [PGO] Fix __llvm_profile_raw_version linkage in MACHO
IR instrumentation generates a COMDAT symbol __llvm_profile_raw_version to
overwrite the same symbol in profile run-time to distinguish IR profiles from
Clang generated profiles. In MACHO, LinkOnceODR linkage is used due to the
lack of COMDAT support.

But LinkOnceODR linkage might have .weak_def_can_be_hidden assembly directive,
while the weak variable in run-time has a .weak_definition directive. Linker
will not merge these two symbols even they have the same name. The end result
is IR profiles are not properly flagged in MACHO.

This patch changes the linkage for __llvm_profile_raw_version in each module to
LinkOnceAny so that it has same .weak_definition directive as in the run-time.

This fixes http://llvm.org/PR27646 on AArch64.

There are three issues here:

- The GR save area is 7 words in size, instead of 8. This is not enough
if none of the fixed arguments is passed in GRs (they're all floats or
  aggregates).
- The first argument is ignored (which counteracts the above if it's passed
  in GR).
- Like x86_64, fixed arguments landing in the overflow area are wrongly
  counted towards the overflow offset.

Marcin Koscielnicki 57290f934a [ASan] Add shadow offset for SystemZ.
SystemZ on Linux currently has 53-bit address space. In theory, the hardware
could support a full 64-bit address space, but that's not supported due to
kernel limitations (it'd require 5-level page tables), and there are no plans
for that. The default process layout stays within first 4TB of address space
(to avoid creating 4-level page tables), so any offset >= (1 << 42) is fine.
Let's use 1 << 52 here, ie. exactly half the address space.

I've originally used 7 << 50 (uses top 1/8th of the address space), but ASan
runtime assumes there's some space after the shadow area. While this is
fixable, it's simpler to avoid the issue entirely.

Also, I've originally wanted to have the shadow aligned to 1/8th the address
space, so that we can use OR like X86 to assemble the offset. I no longer
think it's a good idea, since using ADD enables us to load the constant just
once and use it with register + register indexed addressing.

Andrew Kaylor f0f279291c Initial implementation of optimization bisect support.
This patch implements a optimization bisect feature, which will allow optimizations to be selectively disabled at compile time in order to track down test failures that are caused by incorrect optimizations.

The bisection is enabled using a new command line option (-opt-bisect-limit). Individual passes that may be skipped call the OptBisect object (via an LLVMContext) to see if they should be skipped based on the bisect limit. A finer level of control (disabling individual transformations) can be managed through an addition OptBisect method, but this is not yet used.

The skip checking in this implementation is based on (and replaces) the skipOptnoneFunction check. Where that check was being called, a new call has been inserted in its place which checks the bisect limit and the optnone attribute. A new function call has been added for module and SCC passes that behaves in a similar way.

Adrian Prantl 75819aedf6 [PR27284] Reverse the ownership between DICompileUnit and DISubprogram.
Currently each Function points to a DISubprogram and DISubprogram has a
scope field. For member functions the scope is a DICompositeType. DIScopes
point to the DICompileUnit to facilitate type uniquing.

Distinct DISubprograms (with isDefinition: true) are not part of the type
hierarchy and cannot be uniqued. This change removes the subprograms
list from DICompileUnit and instead adds a pointer to the owning compile
unit to distinct DISubprograms. This would make it easy for ThinLTO to
strip unneeded DISubprograms and their transitively referenced debug info.

Motivation
----------

Materializing DISubprograms is currently the most expensive operation when
doing a ThinLTO build of clang.

We want the DISubprogram to be stored in a separate Bitcode block (or the
same block as the function body) so we can avoid having to expensively
deserialize all DISubprograms together with the global metadata. If a
function has been inlined into another subprogram we need to store a
reference the block containing the inlined subprogram.

Attached to https://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=27284 is a python script
that updates LLVM IR testcases to the new format.

JF Bastien 800f87a871 NFC: make AtomicOrdering an enum class
Summary:
In the context of http://wg21.link/lwg2445 C++ uses the concept of
'stronger' ordering but doesn't define it properly. This should be fixed
in C++17 barring a small question that's still open.

The code currently plays fast and loose with the AtomicOrdering
enum. Using an enum class is one step towards tightening things. I later
also want to tighten related enums, such as clang's
AtomicOrderingKind (which should be shared with LLVM as a 'C++ ABI'
enum).

This change touches a few lines of code which can be improved later, I'd
like to keep it as NFC for now as it's already quite complex. I have
related changes for clang.

As a follow-up I'll add:
  bool operator<(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete;
  bool operator>(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete;
  bool operator<=(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete;
  bool operator>=(AtomicOrdering, AtomicOrdering) = delete;
This is separate so that clang and LLVM changes don't need to be in sync.

PGOFuncNames are used as the key to retrieve the Function definition from the
MD5 stored in the profile. For internal linkage function, we prefix the source
file name to the PGOFuncNames. LTO's internalization privatizes many global linkage
symbols. This happens after value profile annotation, but those internal
linkage functions should not have a source prefix. To differentiate compiler
generated internal symbols from original ones, PGOFuncName meta data are
created and attached to the original internal symbols in the value profile
annotation step. If a symbol does not have the meta data, its original linkage
must be non-internal.

Also add a new map that maps PGOFuncName's MD5 value to the function definition.

attribute, live_support, which allows dead stripping to remove dead
globals along with the ASAN metadata about them.

With this change __asan_global structures are emitted in a new
__DATA,__asan_globals section on Darwin.

Additionally, there is a __DATA,__asan_liveness section with the
live_support attribute. Each entry in this section is simply a tuple
that binds together the liveness of a global variable and its ASAN
metadata structure. Thus the metadata structure will be alive if and
only if the global it references is also alive.

llvm::getDISubprogram walks the instructions in a function, looking for one in the scope of the current function, so that it can find the !dbg entry for the subprogram itself.

Now that !dbg is attached to functions, this should not be necessary. This patch changes all uses to just query the subprogram directly on the function.

Ideally this should be NFC, but in reality its possible that a function:

Adhemerval Zanella e600c99a4e [sanitizer] [msan] Fix origin store of array types
This patch fixes the memory sanitizer origin store instrumentation for
array types. This can be triggered by cases where frontend lowers
function return to array type instead of aggregation.

For instance, the C code:

--
struct mypair {
 int64_t x;
 int y;
};

mypair my_make_pair(int64_t x, int y)  {
 mypair p;
 p.x = x;
 p.y = y;
 return p;
}

int foo (int p)
{
  mypair z = my_make_pair(p, 0);
  return z.y + z.x;
}
--

It will be lowered with target set to aarch64-linux and -O0 to:

--
[...]
define i32 @_Z3fooi(i32 %p) #0 {
[...]
%call = call [2 x i64] @_Z12my_make_pairxi(i64 %conv, i32 0)
%1 = bitcast %struct.mypair* %z to [2 x i64]*
store [2 x i64] %call, [2 x i64]* %1, align 8
[...]
--

The origin store will emit a 'icmp' to test each store value again the
TLS origin array. However since 'icmp' does not support ArrayType the
memory instrumentation phase will bail out with an error.

This patch change it by using the same strategy used for struct type on
array.

It fixes the 'test/msan/insertvalue_origin.cc' for aarch64 (the -O0 case).

David Majnemer 8a1c45d6e8 [IR] Reformulate LLVM's EH funclet IR
While we have successfully implemented a funclet-oriented EH scheme on
top of LLVM IR, our scheme has some notable deficiencies:
- catchendpad and cleanupendpad are necessary in the current design
but they are difficult to explain to others, even to seasoned LLVM
  experts.
- catchendpad and cleanupendpad are optimization barriers. They cannot
be split and force all potentially throwing call-sites to be invokes.
This has a noticable effect on the quality of our code generation.
- catchpad, while similar in some aspects to invoke, is fairly awkward.
It is unsplittable, starts a funclet, and has control flow to other
  funclets.
- The nesting relationship between funclets is currently a property of
control flow edges. Because of this, we are forced to carefully
analyze the flow graph to see if there might potentially exist illegal
nesting among funclets. While we have logic to clone funclets when
they are illegally nested, it would be nicer if we had a
  representation which forbade them upfront.

Let's clean this up a bit by doing the following:
- Instead, make catchpad more like cleanuppad and landingpad: no control
flow, just a bunch of simple operands; catchpad would be splittable.
- Introduce catchswitch, a control flow instruction designed to model
the constraints of funclet oriented EH.
- Make funclet scoping explicit by having funclet instructions consume
the token produced by the funclet which contains them.
- Remove catchendpad and cleanupendpad. Their presence can be inferred
  implicitly using coloring information.

N.B. The state numbering code for the CLR has been updated but the
veracity of it's output cannot be spoken for. An expert should take a
look to make sure the results are reasonable.

This new patch fixes a few bugs that exposed in last submit. It also improves
the test cases.
--Original Commit Message--
This patch implements a minimum spanning tree (MST) based instrumentation for
PGO. The use of MST guarantees minimum number of CFG edges getting
instrumented. An addition optimization is to instrument the less executed
edges to further reduce the instrumentation overhead. The patch contains both the
instrumentation and the use of the profile to set the branch weights.

Pete Cooper 72bc23ef02 Change memcpy/memset/memmove to have dest and source alignments.
Note, this was reviewed (and more details are in) http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20151109/312083.html

These intrinsics currently have an explicit alignment argument which is
required to be a constant integer. It represents the alignment of the
source and dest, and so must be the minimum of those.

This change allows source and dest to each have their own alignments
by using the alignment attribute on their arguments. The alignment
argument itself is removed.

There are a few places in the code for which the code needs to be
checked by an expert as to whether using only src/dest alignment is
safe. For those places, they currently take the minimum of src/dest
alignments which matches the current behaviour.

For example, code which used to read:
  call void @llvm.memcpy.p0i8.p0i8.i32(i8* %dest, i8* %src, i32 500, i32 8, i1 false)
will now read:
  call void @llvm.memcpy.p0i8.p0i8.i32(i8* align 8 %dest, i8* align 8 %src, i32 500, i1 false)

For out of tree owners, I was able to strip alignment from calls using sed by replacing:
  (call.*llvm\.memset.*)i32\ [0-9]*\,\ i1 false\)
with:
  $1i1 false)

and similarly for memmove and memcpy.

I then added back in alignment to test cases which needed it.

A similar commit will be made to clang which actually has many differences in alignment as now
IRBuilder can generate different source/dest alignments on calls.

In IRBuilder itself, a new argument was added. Instead of calling:
  CreateMemCpy(Dst, Src, getInt64(Size), DstAlign, /* isVolatile */ false)
you now call
  CreateMemCpy(Dst, Src, getInt64(Size), DstAlign, SrcAlign, /* isVolatile */ false)

There is a temporary class (IntegerAlignment) which takes the source alignment and rejects
implicit conversion from bool. This is to prevent isVolatile here from passing its default
parameter to the source alignment.

Note, changes in future can now be made to codegen. I didn't change anything here, but this
change should enable better memcpy code sequences.

Peter Collingbourne d4bff30370 DI: Reverse direction of subprogram -> function edge.
Previously, subprograms contained a metadata reference to the function they
described. Because most clients need to get or set a subprogram for a given
function rather than the other way around, this created unneeded inefficiency.

For example, many passes needed to call the function llvm::makeSubprogramMap()
to build a mapping from functions to subprograms, and the IR linker needed to
fix up function references in a way that caused quadratic complexity in the IR
linking phase of LTO.

This change reverses the direction of the edge by storing the subprogram as
function-level metadata and removing DISubprogram's function field.

Since this is an IR change, a bitcode upgrade has been provided.

Fixes PR23367. An upgrade script for textual IR for out-of-tree clients is

Evgeniy Stepanov d1aad26589 [safestack] Fast access to the unsafe stack pointer on AArch64/Android.
Android libc provides a fixed TLS slot for the unsafe stack pointer,
and this change implements direct access to that slot on AArch64 via
__builtin_thread_pointer() + offset.

This change also moves more code into TargetLowering and its
target-specific subclasses to get rid of target-specific codegen
in SafeStackPass.

This change does not touch the ARM backend because ARM lowers
builting_thread_pointer as aeabi_read_tp, which is not available
on Android.

The previous iteration of this change was reverted in r250461. This
version leaves the generic, compiler-rt based implementation in
SafeStack.cpp instead of moving it to TargetLoweringBase in order to
allow testing without a TargetMachine.

Evgeniy Stepanov 142947e9f0 [safestack] Fast access to the unsafe stack pointer on AArch64/Android.
Android libc provides a fixed TLS slot for the unsafe stack pointer,
and this change implements direct access to that slot on AArch64 via
__builtin_thread_pointer() + offset.

This change also moves more code into TargetLowering and its
target-specific subclasses to get rid of target-specific codegen
in SafeStackPass.

This change does not touch the ARM backend because ARM lowers
builting_thread_pointer as aeabi_read_tp, which is not available
on Android.

Evgeniy Stepanov d12212bc8c New MSan mapping layout (llvm part).
This is an implementation of
https://github.com/google/sanitizers/issues/579

It has a number of advantages over the current mapping:
* Works for non-PIE executables.
* Does not require ASLR; as a consequence, debugging MSan programs in
gdb no longer requires "set disable-randomization off".
* Supports linux kernels >=4.1.2.
* The code is marginally faster and smaller.

This is an ABI break. We never really promised ABI stability, but
this patch includes a courtesy escape hatch: a compile-time macro
that reverts back to the old mapping layout.

Wei Mi 3cc9204a52 Put profile variables of COMDAT functions to it's own COMDAT group.
In -fprofile-instr-generate compilation, to remove the redundant profile
variables for the COMDAT functions, these variables are placed in the same
COMDAT group as its associated function. This way when the COMDAT function
is not picked by the linker, those profile variables will also not be
output in the final binary. This may cause warning when mix link objects

Chandler Carruth 7b560d40bd [PM/AA] Rebuild LLVM's alias analysis infrastructure in a way compatible
with the new pass manager, and no longer relying on analysis groups.

This builds essentially a ground-up new AA infrastructure stack for
LLVM. The core ideas are the same that are used throughout the new pass
manager: type erased polymorphism and direct composition. The design is
as follows:

- FunctionAAResults is a type-erasing alias analysis results aggregation
interface to walk a single query across a range of results from
different alias analyses. Currently this is function-specific as we
always assume that aliasing queries are *within* a function.

- AAResultBase is a CRTP utility providing stub implementations of
various parts of the alias analysis result concept, notably in several
cases in terms of other more general parts of the interface. This can
be used to implement only a narrow part of the interface rather than
the entire interface. This isn't really ideal, this logic should be
hoisted into FunctionAAResults as currently it will cause
a significant amount of redundant work, but it faithfully models the
  behavior of the prior infrastructure.

- All the alias analysis passes are ported to be wrapper passes for the
legacy PM and new-style analysis passes for the new PM with a shared
result object. In some cases (most notably CFL), this is an extremely
naive approach that we should revisit when we can specialize for the
  new pass manager.

- BasicAA has been restructured to reflect that it is much more
fundamentally a function analysis because it uses dominator trees and
loop info that need to be constructed for each function.

All of the references to getting alias analysis results have been
updated to use the new aggregation interface. All the preservation and
other pass management code has been updated accordingly.

The way the FunctionAAResultsWrapperPass works is to detect the
available alias analyses when run, and add them to the results object.
This means that we should be able to continue to respect when various
passes are added to the pipeline, for example adding CFL or adding TBAA
passes should just cause their results to be available and to get folded
into this. The exception to this rule is BasicAA which really needs to
be a function pass due to using dominator trees and loop info. As
a consequence, the FunctionAAResultsWrapperPass directly depends on
BasicAA and always includes it in the aggregation.

This has significant implications for preserving analyses. Generally,
most passes shouldn't bother preserving FunctionAAResultsWrapperPass
because rebuilding the results just updates the set of known AA passes.
The exception to this rule are LoopPass instances which need to preserve
all the function analyses that the loop pass manager will end up
needing. This means preserving both BasicAAWrapperPass and the
aggregating FunctionAAResultsWrapperPass.

Now, when preserving an alias analysis, you do so by directly preserving
that analysis. This is only necessary for non-immutable-pass-provided
alias analyses though, and there are only three of interest: BasicAA,
GlobalsAA (formerly GlobalsModRef), and SCEVAA. Usually BasicAA is
preserved when needed because it (like DominatorTree and LoopInfo) is
marked as a CFG-only pass. I've expanded GlobalsAA into the preserved
set everywhere we previously were preserving all of AliasAnalysis, and
I've added SCEVAA in the intersection of that with where we preserve
SCEV itself.

One significant challenge to all of this is that the CGSCC passes were
actually using the alias analysis implementations by taking advantage of
a pretty amazing set of loop holes in the old pass manager's analysis
management code which allowed analysis groups to slide through in many
cases. Moving away from analysis groups makes this problem much more
obvious. To fix it, I've leveraged the flexibility the design of the new
PM components provides to just directly construct the relevant alias
analyses for the relevant functions in the IPO passes that need them.
This is a bit hacky, but should go away with the new pass manager, and
is already in many ways cleaner than the prior state.

Another significant challenge is that various facilities of the old
alias analysis infrastructure just don't fit any more. The most
significant of these is the alias analysis 'counter' pass. That pass
relied on the ability to snoop on AA queries at different points in the
analysis group chain. Instead, I'm planning to build printing
functionality directly into the aggregation layer. I've not included
that in this patch merely to keep it smaller.

Note that all of this needs a nearly complete rewrite of the AA
documentation. I'm planning to do that, but I'd like to make sure the
new design settles, and to flesh out a bit more of what it looks like in
the new pass manager first.

Joseph Tremoulet 9ce71f76b9 [WinEH] Add cleanupendpad instruction
Summary:
Add a `cleanupendpad` instruction, used to mark exceptional exits out of
cleanups (for languages/targets that can abort a cleanup with another
exception). The `cleanupendpad` instruction is similar to the `catchendpad`
instruction in that it is an EH pad which is the target of unwind edges in
the handler and which itself has an unwind edge to the next EH action.
The `cleanupendpad` instruction, similar to `cleanupret` has a `cleanuppad`
argument indicating which cleanup it exits. The unwind successors of a
`cleanuppad`'s `cleanupendpad`s must agree with each other and with its
`cleanupret`s.

Update WinEHPrepare (and docs/tests) to accomodate `cleanupendpad`.

Joseph Tremoulet 8220bcc570 [WinEH] Require token linkage in EH pad/ret signatures
Summary:
WinEHPrepare is going to require that cleanuppad and catchpad produce values
of token type which are consumed by any cleanupret or catchret exiting the
pad. This change updates the signatures of those operators to require/enforce
that the type produced by the pads is token type and that the rets have an
appropriate argument.

The catchpad argument of a `CatchReturnInst` must be a `CatchPadInst` (and
similarly for `CleanupReturnInst`/`CleanupPadInst`). To accommodate that
restriction, this change adds a notion of an operator constraint to both
LLParser and BitcodeReader, allowing appropriate sentinels to be constructed
for forward references and appropriate error messages to be emitted for
illegal inputs.

Also add a verifier rule (noted in LangRef) that a catchpad with a catchpad
predecessor must have no other predecessors; this ensures that WinEHPrepare
will see the expected linear relationship between sibling catches on the
same try.

Lastly, remove some superfluous/vestigial casts from instruction operand
setters operating on BasicBlocks.
