Chuanqi Xu 3a3af2bbc9 [C++20] [Module] fix bug 47716 and implement [module.interface]/p6
This fixes bug 47716.

According to [module.interface]p2, it is meaningless to export an entity
which is not in namespace scope.
The reason why the compiler crashes is that the compiler missed
ExportDecl when the compiler traverse the subclass of DeclContext. So
here is the crash.

Also, the patch implements [module.interface]p6 in
Sema::CheckRedeclaration* functions.

Aaron Ballman 6c75ab5f66 Introduce _BitInt, deprecate _ExtInt
WG14 adopted the _ExtInt feature from Clang for C23, but renamed the
type to be _BitInt. This patch does the vast majority of the work to
rename _ExtInt to _BitInt, which accounts for most of its size. The new
type is exposed in older C modes and all C++ modes as a conforming
extension. However, there are functional changes worth calling out:

* Deprecates _ExtInt with a fix-it to help users migrate to _BitInt.
* Updates the mangling for the type.
* Updates the documentation and adds a release note to warn users what
is going on.
* Adds new diagnostics for use of _BitInt to call out when it's used as
a Clang extension or as a pre-C23 compatibility concern.
* Adds new tests for the new diagnostic behaviors.

I want to call out the ABI break specifically. We do not believe that
this break will cause a significant imposition for early adopters of
the feature, and so this is being done as a full break. If it turns out
there are critical uses where recompilation is not an option for some
reason, we can consider using ABI tags to ease the transition.

[clang] retain type sugar in auto / template argument deduction
This implements the following changes:
* AutoType retains sugared deduced-as-type.
* Template argument deduction machinery analyses the sugared type all the way
down. It would previously lose the sugar on first recursion.
* Undeduced AutoType will be properly canonicalized, including the constraint
template arguments.
* Remove the decltype node created from the decltype(auto) deduction.

As a result, we start seeing sugared types in a lot more test cases,
including some which showed very unfriendly `type-parameter-*-*` types.

David Blaikie 8bf1244538 DebugInfo: workaround for context-sensitive use of non-type-template-parameter integer suffixes
There's a nuanced check about when to use suffixes on these integer
non-type-template-parameters, but when rebuilding names for
-gsimple-template-names there isn't enough data in the DWARF to
determine when to use suffixes or not. So turn on suffixes always to
make it easy to match up names in llvm-dwarfdump --verify.

I /think/ if we correctly modelled auto non-type-template parameters
maybe we could put suffixes only on those. But there's also some logic
in Clang that puts the suffixes on overloaded functions - at least
that's what the parameter says (see D77598 and printTemplateArguments
"TemplOverloaded" parameter) - but I think maybe it's for anything that
/can/ be overloaded, not necessarily only the things that are overloaded
(the argument value is hardcoded at the various callsites, doesn't seem
to depend on overload resolution/searching for overloaded functions). So
maybe with "auto" modeled more accurately, and differentiating between
function templates (always using type suffixes there) and class/variable
templates (only using the suffix for "auto" types) we could correctly
use integer type suffixes only in the minimal set of cases.

But that seems all too much fuss, so let's just put integer type
suffixes everywhere always in the debug info of integer non-type
template parameters in template names.

Arthur O'Dwyer 2b4cad5e47 [clang] Enable the special enable_if_t diagnostics for libc++'s __enable_if_t as well.
This comes from lengthy discussion between Quuxplusone and ldionne over on D108216.
Right now, libc++ uses a "SCARY metaprogramming" version of _EnableIf that bypasses
all of Clang's clever diagnostic stuff and thus produces bad diagnostics. My recent
benchmarks ( https://quuxplusone.github.io/blog/2021/09/04/enable-if-benchmark/ )
have determined that the SCARYness is not buying us any speedup; therefore we are
happy to drop it and go back to using the standard std::enable_if for all our
SFINAE needs. However, we don't want to type out typename std::enable_if<X>::type
all over the library; we want to use an alias template. And we can't use
std::enable_if_t because we need a solution that works in C++11, and we do not
provide std::enable_if_t in C++11.

Therefore, D109435 switches us from SCARY `_EnableIf` to a normal `__enable_if_t`
(at least in C++11 mode, and possibly everywhere for consistency).
Simultaneously, this Clang patch enables the good diagnostics for `__enable_if_t`.
We don't need to enable good diagnostics for `_EnableIf` because the name
`_EnableIf` has only ever been used for the SCARY version where the good diagnostics
don't trigger anyway.

(Btw, this existing code is all sorts of broken, theoretically speaking.
I filed https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51696 about it last week.
So if someone wants to use this PR as an excuse to go down the rabbit hole

Simon Pilgrim 61cdaf66fe [ADT] Remove APInt/APSInt toString() std::string variants
<string> is currently the highest impact header in a clang+llvm build:

https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-clang/llvm-include-analysis.html

One of the most common places this is being included is the APInt.h header, which needs it for an old toString() implementation that returns std::string - an inefficient method compared to the SmallString versions that it actually wraps.

This patch replaces these APInt/APSInt methods with a pair of llvm::toString() helpers inside StringExtras.h, adjusts users accordingly and removes the <string> from APInt.h - I was hoping that more of these users could be converted to use the SmallString methods, but it appears that most end up creating a std::string anyhow. I avoided trying to use the raw_ostream << operators as well as I didn't want to lose having the integer radix explicit in the code.

Richard Smith 71886c56f3 Where possible, don't try to ask whether a template argument is
dependent until it's been converted to match its parameter.

The type of a non-type template parameter can in general affect whether
the template argument is dependent.

Note that this is not always possible. For template arguments that name
static local variables in templates, the type of the template parameter
affects whether the argument is dependent, so the query is imprecise
until we know the parameter type. For example, in:

template<typename T> void f() {
  static const int n = 5;
  typename T::template X<n> x;
}

... we don't know whether 'n' is dependent until we know whether the
corresponding template parameter is of type 'int' or 'const int&'.

Richard Smith 6c365cd31e Consider reference, pointer, and pointer-to-member TemplateArguments to be different if they have different types.
For the Itanium ABI, this implements the mangling rule suggested in
https://github.com/itanium-cxx-abi/cxx-abi/issues/47, namely mangling
such template arguments as being cast to the parameter type in the case
where the template name is overloadable. This can cause a mangling
change for rare cases, where

 * the template argument declaration is converted from its declared type
to the type of the template parameter, and
 * the template parameter either has a deduced type or is a parameter of
   a function template.

However, such changes are necessary to avoid mangling collisions. The
ABI changes can be reversed with -fclang-abi-compat=11 or earlier.

C++ unqualified name lookup searches template parameter scopes
immediately after finishing searching the entity the parameters belong
to. (Eg, for a class template, you search the template parameter scope

looking in the scope containing the class template.) This is complicated

We used to approximate the proper lookup rule with a hack in the scope /

The patch adds new MatrixType and DependentSizedMatrixType types along
with the plumbing required. Loads of and stores to pointers to matrix
values are lowered to memory operations on 1-D IR arrays. After loading,
the loaded values are cast to a vector. This ensures matrix values use
the alignment of the element type, instead of LLVM's large vector
alignment.

The operators and builtins described in the draft spec will will be added in
follow-up patches.

Erich Keane 61ba1481e2 Implement _ExtInt as an extended int type specifier.
Introduction/Motivation:
LLVM-IR supports integers of non-power-of-2 bitwidth, in the iN syntax.
Integers of non-power-of-two aren't particularly interesting or useful
on most hardware, so much so that no language in Clang has been
motivated to expose it before.

However, in the case of FPGA hardware normal integer types where the
full bitwidth isn't used, is extremely wasteful and has severe
performance/space concerns. Because of this, Intel has introduced this
functionality in the High Level Synthesis compiler[0]
under the name "Arbitrary Precision Integer" (ap_int for short). This
has been extremely useful and effective for our users, permitting them
to optimize their storage and operation space on an architecture where
both can be extremely expensive.

We are proposing upstreaming a more palatable version of this to the
community, in the form of this proposal and accompanying patch. We are
proposing the syntax _ExtInt(N). We intend to propose this to the WG14
committee[1], and the underscore-capital seems like the active direction
for a WG14 paper's acceptance. An alternative that Richard Smith
suggested on the initial review was __int(N), however we believe that
is much less acceptable by WG14. We considered _Int, however _Int is
used as an identifier in libstdc++ and there is no good way to fall
back to an identifier (since _Int(5) is indistinguishable from an
unnamed initializer of a template type named _Int).

Richard Smith bab6df86ae Rework how UuidAttr, CXXUuidofExpr, and GUID template arguments and constants are represented.
Summary:
Previously, we treated CXXUuidofExpr as quite a special case: it was the
only kind of expression that could be a canonical template argument, it
could be a constant lvalue base object, and so on. In addition, we
represented the UUID value as a string, whose source form we did not
preserve faithfully, and that we partially parsed in multiple different
places.

With this patch, we create an MSGuidDecl object to represent the
implicit object of type 'struct _GUID' created by a UuidAttr. Each
UuidAttr holds a pointer to its 'struct _GUID' and its original
(as-written) UUID string. A non-value-dependent CXXUuidofExpr behaves
like a DeclRefExpr denoting that MSGuidDecl object. We cache an APValue
representation of the GUID on the MSGuidDecl and use it from constant
evaluation where needed.

This allows removing a lot of the special-case logic to handle these
expressions. Unfortunately, many parts of Clang assume there are only
a couple of interesting kinds of ValueDecl, so the total amount of
special-case logic is not really reduced very much.

This fixes a few bugs and issues:
 * PR38490: we now support reading from GUID objects returned from
   __uuidof during constant evaluation.
 * Our Itanium mangling for a non-instantiation-dependent template
argument involving __uuidof no longer depends on which CXXUuidofExpr
template argument we happened to see first.
 * We now predeclare ::_GUID, and permit use of __uuidof without
any header inclusion, better matching MSVC's behavior. We do not
predefine ::__s_GUID, though; that seems like a step too far.
 * Our IR representation for GUID constants now uses the correct IR type
wherever possible. We will still fall back to using the
      {i32, i16, i16, [8 x i8]}
layout if a definition of struct _GUID is not available. This is not
ideal: in principle the two layouts could have different padding.

Saar Raz b481f02814 [Concepts] Placeholder constraints and abbreviated templates
This patch implements P1141R2 "Yet another approach for constrained declarations".

General strategy for this patch was:

- Expand AutoType to include optional type-constraint, reflecting the wording and easing the integration of constraints.
- Replace autos in parameter type specifiers with invented parameters in GetTypeSpecTypeForDeclarator, using the same logic
previously used for generic lambdas, now unified with abbreviated templates, by:
  - Tracking the template parameter lists in the Declarator object
  - Tracking the template parameter depth before parsing function declarators (at which point we can match template
parameters against scope specifiers to know if we have an explicit template parameter list to append invented parameters
    to or not).
- When encountering an AutoType in a parameter context we check a stack of InventedTemplateParameterInfo structures that
contain the info required to create and accumulate invented template parameters (fields that were already present in
LambdaScopeInfo, which now inherits from this class and is looked up when an auto is encountered in a lambda context).

Resubmit after fixing MSAN failures caused by incomplete initialization of AutoTypeLocs in TypeSpecLocFiller.

Saar Raz e57a9abc4b [Concepts] Placeholder constraints and abbreviated templates

Resubmit after incorrect check in NonTypeTemplateParmDecl broke lldb.

Richard Smith a42fd84cff Remove redundant CXXScopeSpec from TemplateIdAnnotation.
A TemplateIdAnnotation represents only a template-id, not a
nested-name-specifier plus a template-id. Don't make a redundant copy of
the CXXScopeSpec and store it on the template-id annotation.

This slightly improves error recovery by more properly handling the case
where we would form an invalid CXXScopeSpec while parsing a typename
specifier, instead of accidentally putting the token stream into a
broken "annot_template_id with a scope specifier, but with no preceding
annot_cxxscope token" state.

This adds support for rewriting <, >, <=, and >= to a normal or reversed
call to operator<=>, for rewriting != to a normal or reversed call to
operator==, and for rewriting <=> and == to reversed forms of those same
operators.

Note that this is a breaking change for various C++17 code patterns,
including some in use in LLVM. The most common patterns (where an
operator== becomes ambiguous with a reversed form of itself) are still
accepted under this patch, as an extension (with a warning). I'm hopeful
that we can get the language rules fixed before C++20 ships, and the
extension warning is aimed primarily at providing data to inform that
decision.

Kadir Cetinkaya fd019ed54e [clang] Make handling of unnamed template params similar to function params
Summary:
Clang uses the location identifier should be inserted for declarator
decls when a decl is unnamed. But for type template and template template
paramaters it uses the location of "typename/class" keyword, which makes it hard
for tooling to insert/change parameter names.

This change tries to unify these two cases by making template parameter
parsing and sourcerange operations similar to function params/declarator decls.

This is groundwork for C++20's P0784R7, where non-trivial destructors
can be constexpr, so we need ExprWithCleanups markers in constant
expressions.

No functionality change intended.

Richard Smith b26bc34e3a PR42587: diagnose unexpanded uses of a pack parameter of a generic
lambda from within the lambda-declarator.

Instead of trying to reconstruct whether a parameter pack was declared
inside a lambda (which we can't do correctly in general because we might
not have attached parameters to their declaration contexts yet), track
the set of parameter packs introduced in each live lambda scope, and
require only those parameters to be immediately expanded when they
appear inside that lambda.

In passing, fix incorrect disambiguation of a lambda-expression starting
with an init-capture pack in a braced-init-list. We previously
incorrectly parsed that as a designated initializer.

Richard Smith 26a92d5852 Improve behavior in the case of stack exhaustion.
Summary:
Clang performs various recursive operations (such as template instantiation),
and may use non-trivial amounts of stack space in each recursive step (for
instance, due to recursive AST walks). While we try to keep the stack space
used by such steps to a minimum and we have explicit limits on the number of
such steps we perform, it's impractical to guarantee that we won't blow out the
stack on deeply recursive template instantiations on complex ASTs, even with
only a moderately high instantiation depth limit.

The user experience in these cases is generally terrible: we crash with
no hint of what went wrong. Under this patch, we attempt to do better:

 * Detect when the stack is nearly exhausted, and produce a warning with a
nice template instantiation backtrace, telling the user that we might
   run slowly or crash.

 * For cases where we're forced to trigger recursive template
instantiation in arbitrarily-deeply-nested contexts, check whether
we're nearly out of stack space and allocate a new stack (by spawning
a new thread) after producing the warning.

We already did this for type template parameters and template template

be substituted in the proper context, and in particular to properly mark
its subexpressions as odr-used.

Richard Smith 9e77f524b5 Fix handling of class member access into a vector type.
When handling a member access into a non-class, non-ObjC-object type, we
would perform a lookup into the surrounding scope as if for an
unqualified lookup. If the member access was followed by a '<' and this
lookup (or the typo-correction for it) found a template name, we'd treat
the member access as naming that template.

Now we treat such accesses as never naming a template if the type of the
object expression is of vector type, so that vector component accesses
are never misinterpreted as naming something else. This is not entirely
correct, since it is in fact valid to name a template from the enclosing
scope in this context, when invoking a pseudo-destructor for the vector
type via an alias template, but that's very much a corner case, and this
change leaves that case only as broken as the corresponding case for
Objective-C types is.

This incidentally adds support for dr2292, which permits a 'template'
keyword at the start of a member access naming a pseudo-destructor.

Matthias Gehre 23092ca9ba gsl::Owner/gsl::Pointer: Add implicit annotations for some std types
Summary:
Hard code gsl::Owner/gsl::Pointer for std types. The paper mentions
some types explicitly. Generally, all containers and their iterators are
covered. For iterators, we cover both the case that they are defined
as an nested class or as an typedef/using. I have started to test this
implementation against some real standard library implementations, namely
libc++ 7.1.0, libc++ 8.0.1rc2, libstdc++ 4.6.4, libstdc++ 4.8.5,
libstdc++ 4.9.4, libstdc++ 5.4.0, libstdc++ 6.5.0, libstdc++ 7.3.0,
libstdc++ 8.3.0 and libstdc++ 9.1.0.

The tests are currently here
  https://github.com/mgehre/llvm-project/blob/lifetime-ci/lifetime-attr-test.sh
  https://github.com/mgehre/llvm-project/blob/lifetime-ci/lifetime-attr-test.cpp
I think due to their dependency on a standard library, they are not a good fit
for clang/test/. Where else could I put them?

Richard Smith 07ed9cfc3e Fix crash and rejects-valid when a later template parameter or default
template argument contains a backreference to a dependently-typed
earlier parameter.

In a case like:
  template<typename T, T A, decltype(A) = A> struct X {};
  template<typename U> auto Y = X<U, 0>();
we previously treated both references to `A` in the third parameter as
being of type `int` when checking the template-id in `Y`. That`s wrong;
the type of `A` in these contexts is the dependent type `U`.

When we encounter a non-type template argument that we can't convert to
the parameter type because of type-dependence, we now insert a dependent
conversion node so that the SubstNonTypeTemplateParmExpr for the
template argument will have the parameter's type rather than whatever
type the argument had.

Gauthier Harnisch 796ed03b84 [C++20] add Basic consteval specifier
Summary:
this revision adds Lexing, Parsing and Basic Semantic for the consteval specifier as specified by http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/papers/2018/p1073r3.html

with this patch, the consteval specifier is treated as constexpr but can only be applied to function declaration.

Changes:
 - add the consteval keyword.
 - add parsing of consteval specifier for normal declarations and lambdas expressions.
 - add the whether a declaration is constexpr is now represented by and enum everywhere except for variable because they can't be consteval.
 - adapt diagnostic about constexpr to print constexpr or consteval depending on the case.
 - add tests for basic semantic.
