The recently announced IBM z16 processor implements the architecture
already supported as "arch14" in LLVM. This patch adds support for
"z16" as an alternate architecture name for arch14.
This helps lit unit test performance by a lot, especially on windows. The performance gain comes from launching one gtest executable for many subtests instead of one (this is the current situation).
The shards are executed by the test runner and the results are stored in the
json format supported by the GoogleTest. Later in the test reporting stage,
all test results in the json file are retrieved to continue the test results
summary etc.
On my Win10 desktop, before this patch: `check-clang-unit`: 177s, `check-llvm-unit`: 38s; after this patch: `check-clang-unit`: 37s, `check-llvm-unit`: 11s.
On my Linux machine, before this patch: `check-clang-unit`: 46s, `check-llvm-unit`: 8s; after this patch: `check-clang-unit`: 7s, `check-llvm-unit`: 4s.

If the `ExternalFS` has already remapped to an external path then
`RedirectingFileSystem` should not change it to the originally provided
path. This fixes the original path always being used if multiple VFS
overlays were provided and the path wasn't found in the highest (ie.
first in the chain).
For now this is accomplished through the use of a new
`ExposesExternalVFSPath` field on `vfs::Status`. This flag is true when
the `Status` has an external path that's different from its virtual
path, ie. the contained path is the external path. See the plan in
`FileManager::getFileRef` for where this is going - eventually we won't
need `IsVFSMapped` any more and all returned paths should be virtual.

This takes the AARCH64_ARCH_EXT_NAME in AArch64TargetParser.def and uses
it to generate all the "if bit is set add this feature name" code.
Which gives us a bunch that we were missing. I've updated testing
to include those and reordered them to match the order in the .def.
The final part of the test will catch any missing extensions if
we somehow manage to not generate an if block for them.
This has changed the order of cc1's "-target-feature" output so I've
updated some tests in clang to reflect that.

Simply returning will report the test as PASSED when it didn't
really do anything. SKIPPED is the correct result for these.
Found by the Rotten Green Tests project.
Returning `std::array<uint8_t, N>` is better ergonomics for the hashing functions usage, instead of a `StringRef`:
* When returning `StringRef`, client code is "jumping through hoops" to do string manipulations instead of dealing with fixed array of bytes directly, which is more natural
* Returning `std::array<uint8_t, N>` avoids the need for the hasher classes to keep a field just for the purpose of wrapping it and returning it as a `StringRef`
As part of this patch also:
* Introduce `TruncatedBLAKE3` which is useful for using BLAKE3 as the hasher type for `HashBuilder` with non-default hash sizes.
* Make `MD5Result` inherit from `std::array<uint8_t, 16>` which improves & simplifies its API.

`HideUnrelatedOptions`/`HideUnrelatedOptionsMulti` failed due to other
tests calling `cl::ResetCommandLineParser()` which causes default
options to be removed.
`ExitOnError` would hang due to the threading environment. Renaming it
as `*Deathtest` is the recommended practice by GTest docs.
This reverts commit 3fda0edc51, which
breaks crash reproducers in very specific circumstances. Specifically,
since crash reproducers have `UseExternalNames` set to false, the
`File->getFileEntry().getDir()->getName()` call in `DoFrameworkLookup`
would use the *cached* directory name instead of the directory of the
looked-up file.
The plan is to re-commit this patch but to *add*
`ExposesExternalVFSPath` rather than replace `IsVFSMapped`.

Currently, we have two different lists of features each CPU supports...
and those lists aren't consistent. This patch assumes AArch64.td is
right, and tries to fix AArch64TargetParser to match.
It's hard to find documentation for the right features, but reviewers
have confirmed these changes.
Probably we should try to unify the two lists at some point, but
synchronizing them seems like a prerequisite to that anyway.

This initial patch contains the pristine BLAKE3 sources, a follow-up patch will introduce
LLVM-specific prefixes to avoid conflicts if a client also links with its own BLAKE3 version.

Timings include `AVX512`, `AVX2`, `neon`, and the generic/portable implementations.

For now most are implemented by printing out the name of the filesystem,
but this can be expanded in the future. Only `OverlayFileSystem` and
`RedirectingFileSystem` are properly implemented in this patch.
- `OverlayFileSystem`: Prints each filesystem in the order that any
operations are actually run on them. Optionally prints recursively.
- `RedirectingFileSystem`: Prints out all mappings, as well as the
`ExternalFS`. Most of this was already implemented other than the
handling for the `DirectoryRemap` case and to actually print out the
mapping.
Each FS should implement `printImpl` rather than `print`, where the
latter just fowards to the former. This is to avoid spreading the
default arguments through to the subclasses (where we may miss updating
in the future).

With a sufficiently large output buffer, the only failure is Z_MEM_ERROR.
Check it and call the noreturn report_bad_alloc_error if applicable.
resize_for_overwrite may call report_bad_alloc_error as well.
Now that there is no other error type, we can replace the return type with void
and simplify call sites.

Early adoption of new technologies or adjusting certain code generation/IR optimization thresholds
is often available through some cl::opt options (which have unstable surfaces).
Specifying such an option twice will lead to an error.

The option is specified twice, because there is sometimes a global setting and
a specific file or project may need to override (or duplicately specify) the
value.
The error is contrary to the common practice of getopt/getopt_long command line
utilities that let the last option win and the `getLastArg` behavior used by
Clang driver options. I have seen such errors for several times. I think the
error just makes users inconvenient, while providing very little value on
discouraging production usage of unstable surfaces (this goal is itself
controversial, because developers might not want to commit to a stable surface
too early, or there is just some subtle codegen toggle which is infeasible to
have a driver option). Therefore, I suggest we drop the diagnostic, at least
before the diagnostic gets sufficiently better support for the overridding needs.
Removing the error is a degraded error checking experience. I think this error
checking behavior, if desirable, should be enabled explicitly by tools. Users
preferring the behavior can figure out a way to do so.

Current declaration of cl::opt is incoherent between class and non-class
specializations of the opt_storage template. There is an inconsistency
in the initialization of the Default field: for inClass instances
the default constructor is used - it sets the Optional Default field to
None; though for non-inClass instances the Default field is set to
the type's default value. For non-inClass instances it is impossible
to know if the option is defined with cl::init() initializer or not:

The upstream project ships CMake rules for building vanilla gtest/gmock which conflict with the names chosen by LLVM. Since LLVM's build rules here are quite specific to LLVM, prefixing them to avoid collision is the right thing (i.e. there does not appear to be a path to letting someone *replace* LLVM's googletest with one they bring, so co-existence should be the goal).
This allows LLVM to be included with testing enabled within projects that themselves have a dependency on an official gtest release.

Every arch has base extensions, the cpus of that arch family have more extended extensions than base extensions.
We need specify extended extensions for every cpu. Every extension has its enum value, name and related llvm feature string with +/-.
Every enum value represents a bit of uint64_t integer.

This patch fixes two issues with clearing of the internal storage for cl::bits
1. The internal bits storage for cl::bits is uninitialized. This is a problem if a cl::bits option is not defined with static lifetime.

On Windows certain function from `Signals.h` require that `DbgHelp.dll` is loaded. This typically happens when the main program calls `llvm::InitLLVM`, however in some cases main program doesn't do that (e.g. when the application is using LLDB via `liblldb.dll`). This patch adds a safe guard to prevent crashes. More discussion in

In many cases, calls to isShiftedMask are immediately followed with checks to determine the size and position of the bitmask.
This patch adds variants of APInt::isShiftedMask, isShiftedMask_32 and isShiftedMask_64 that return these values as additional arguments.
I've updated a number of cases that were either performing seperate size/position calculations or had created their own local wrapper versions of these.

Extend "fallthrough" to allow a third option: "fallback". Fallthrough
allows the original path to used if the redirected (or mapped) path
fails. Fallback is the reverse of this, ie. use the original path and
fallback to the mapped path otherwise.
While this result *can* be achieved today using multiple overlays, this
adds a much more intuitive option. As an example, take two directories
"A" and "B". We would like files from "A" to be used, unless they don't
exist, in which case the VFS should fallback to those in "B".
With the current fallthrough option this is possible by adding two
overlays: one mapping from A -> B and another mapping from B -> A. Since
the frontend *nests* the two RedirectingFileSystems, the result will
be that "A" is mapped to "B" and back to "A", unless it isn't in "A" in
which case it fallsthrough to "B" (or fails if it exists in neither).
Using "fallback" semantics allows a single overlay instead: one mapping
from "A" to "B" but only using that mapping if the operation in "A"
fails first.
"redirect-only" is used to represent the current "fallthrough: false"
case.

We do support building with a default target unspecified. This fixes
two small build issues that prevented LLVM's unit tests from building
and libSupport from building on Windows.

- It conflicts with the existing llvm::size in STLExtras, which will now
never be called.
- Calling it without llvm:: breaks C++17 compat
Only using that change in StringRef already decreases the number of
preoprocessed lines from 7837621 to 7776151 for LLVMSupport
Perhaps more interestingly, it shows that many files were relying on the
inclusion of StringRef.h to have the declaration from STLExtras.h. This
patch tries hard to patch relevant part of llvm-project impacted by this
hidden dependency removal.
Potential impact:
- "llvm/ADT/StringRef.h" no longer includes <memory>,
"llvm/ADT/Optional.h" nor "llvm/ADT/STLExtras.h"

The tryLockFor method from raw_fd_sotreamis the sole user of that
header, and it's not referenced in the mono repo. I still chose to keep
it (may be useful for downstream user) but added a transient type that's
forward declared to hold the duration parameter.
Notable changes:
- "llvm/Support/Duration.h" must be included in order to use tryLockFor.
- "llvm/Support/raw_ostream.h" no longer includes <chrono>
This sole change has an interesting impact on the number of processed
line, as measured by:

The error messages in tests are far better when a test fails if the test
is written using ASSERT_/EXPECT_<operator>(A, B) rather than
ASSERT_/EXPECT_TRUE(A <operator> B).
This commit updates all of llvm/unittests/Support to use these macros
where possible.
This change has not been possible in:
- llvm/unittests/Support/FSUniqueIDTest.cpp - due to not overloading
operators beyond ==, != and <.
- llvm/unittests/Support/BranchProbabilityTest.cpp - where the unchanged
tests are of the operator overloads themselves.
There are other possibilities of this conversion not being valid, which
have not applied in these tests, as they do not use NULL (they use
nullptr), and they do not use const char* (they use std::string or
StringRef).

The cleanup was manual, but assisted by "include-what-you-use". It consists in
1. Removing unused forward declaration. No impact expected.
2. Removing unused headers in .cpp files. No impact expected.
3. Removing unused headers in .h files. This removes implicit dependencies and
is generally considered a good thing, but this may break downstream builds.
I've updated llvm, clang, lld, lldb and mlir deps, and included a list of the
modification in the second part of the commit.
4. Replacing header inclusion by forward declaration. This has the same impact
as 3.
Notable changes:
- llvm/Support/TargetParser.h no longer includes llvm/Support/AArch64TargetParser.h nor llvm/Support/ARMTargetParser.h
- llvm/Support/TypeSize.h no longer includes llvm/Support/WithColor.h

This diff adds support for relative roots to VFS overlays. The directory root
will be made absolute from the current working directory and will be used to
determine the path style to use. This supports the use of VFS overlays with
remote build systems that might use a different working directory for each
compilation.

Extract the `readNativeFile()` loop from
`MemoryBuffer::getMemoryBufferForStream()` into `readNativeFileToEOF()`
to allow reuse. The chunk size is configurable; the default of `4*4096`
is exposed as `sys::fs::DefaultReadChunkSize` to allow sizing of
SmallVectors.
There's somewhere I'd like to read a usually-small file without overhead
of a MemoryBuffer; extracting existing logic rather than duplicating it.

It turns out this is conflating a few different PMU extensions. And on
Arm ended up breaking M-Profile code generation. Reverting for the

Since 65b13610a5, raw_string_ostream
has been unbuffered by default, making .flush() a no-op. This diff
formalizes this by no longer .flush()ing in the .str() method or
the destructor. .str() has been marked as "consider removing", since
its primary use case used to be making .flush()+access a one-liner,
and it also has issues such as preventing NRVO/implicit move when used
in return statements.

This function returns an upper bound on the number of bits needed
to represent the signed value. Use "Max" to match similar functions
in KnownBits like countMaxActiveBits.
Rename APInt::getMinSignedBits->getSignificantBits. Keeping the old
name around to keep this patch size down. Will do a bulk rename as
follow up.

Even if we don't have any known bits, we can assume that there is
at least 1 sign bit. This is consistent with ComputeNumSignBits
which always returns at least 1.
Add KnownBits::countMaxSignedBits() which computes the number of
bits needed to represent all signed values with those known bits.
This is the signed equivalent of countMaxActiveBits().

This is the first commit in a series that implements support for
"armv8.8-a" architecture. This should contain all the necessary
boilerplate to make the 8.8-A architecture exist from LLVM and Clang's
point of view: it adds the new arch as a subtarget feature, a definition
in TargetParser, a name on the command line, an appropriate set of
predefined macros, and adds appropriate tests. The new architecture name
is supported in both AArch32 and AArch64.
However, in this commit, no actual _functionality_ is added as part of
the new architecture. If you specify -march=armv8.8a, the compiler
will accept it and set the right predefines, but generate no code any
differently.

Extends response file expansion to recognize `<CFGDIR>` and expand to the
current file's directory. This makes it much easier to author clang config
files rooted in portable, potentially not-installed SDK directories.
A typical use case may be something like the following:

Most of `MemoryBuffer` interfaces expose a `RequiresNullTerminator` parameter that's being used to:
* determine how to open a file (`mmap` vs `open`),
* assert newly initialized buffer indeed has an implicit null terminator.
This patch adds the paramater to the `SmallVectorMemoryBuffer` constructors, meaning:
* null terminator can now be added to `SmallVector`s that didn't have one before,
* `SmallVectors` that had a null terminator before keep it even after the move.
In line with existing code, the new parameter is defaulted to `true`. This patch makes sure all calls to the `SmallVectorMemoryBuffer` constructor set it to `false` to preserve the current semantics.

Following the discussion in D112753, this moves the HTTPClient from Support to Debuginfod library so that tools depending on Support do not automatically depend on Curl as well. To do so, ThreadPool::asyncImpl first creates a shared promise. The
result of the promise is set in a new callable that first executes the

This behaves just like the regular Windows style, with both separator
forms accepted, but with get_separator() returning forward slashes.
Add a more descriptive name for the existing style, keeping the old
name around as an alias initially.
Add a new function `make_preferred()` (like the C++17
`std::filesystem::path` function with the same name), which converts
windows paths to the preferred separator form (while this one works on
any platform and takes a `path::Style` argument).
Contrary to `native()` (just like `make_preferred()` in `std::filesystem`),
this doesn't do anything at all on Posix, it doesn't try to reinterpret
backslashes into forward slashes there.

This interface should not have existed in the first place, let alone
be a public member.
It allows calling `ElementCount::get(..)->getValue()`, which is ambiguous.
The interfaces to be used are either getFixedValue() or getKnownMinValue().
Remove sys::path::is_style_native(), which was added alongside
is_style_windows() and is_style_posix().
Thinking a bit about the windows forward-slash style variant in
https://reviews.llvm.org/D111879, it's not clear to me how the new
sys::path::is_style_native() should behave for them.
- Should it return true for both `windows_slash` and
`windows_backslash`?
- Should it return true for only one of them?
I can think of hypothetical uses and justifications for either one, and
I could also imagine clients guessing either behaviour when just looking
at the function name in code.
Call sites will probably be more clear if they don't use this function,
and instead write out the code:

fs::copy_file() on Darwin has a nice optimization to clone the file when
possible. Change the implementation to use clonefile() directly, instead
of the higher-level copyfile(). The latter does the wrong thing for
symlinks, which requires calling `stat` first...
With that out of the way, optimistically call clonefile() all the time,
and then for any error that's recoverable try again with copyfile()
(without the COPYFILE_CLONE flag, as before).

Expose three helpers in namespace llvm::sys::path to detect the
path rules followed by sys::path::Style.
- is_style_posix()
- is_style_windows()
- is_style_native()
This are constexpr functions that that will allow a bunch of
path-related code to stop checking `_WIN32`.
Originally I looked at adding system_style(), analogous to
sys::endian::system_endianness(), but future patches (from others) will
add more Windows style variants for slash preferences. These helpers
should be resilient to that change, allowing callers to detect basic
path rules.

The support for neoverse-512tvb mirrors the same option available in GCC[1].

Change buffer_unique_ostream's constructor to call
raw_ostream::SetUnbuffered() on its owned stream. Otherwise,
buffer_unique_ostream's destructor could cause the owned stream to
temporarily allocate a buffer only to be immediately flushed.
Also add some tests for buffer_ostream and buffer_unique_ostream. Use
the same naming scheme as other raw_ostream-related tests (e.g.,
`raw_ostreamTest` for the fixture, `raw_ostream_test.cpp` for the
filename).
(I considered changing buffer_ostream in the same way (calling
SetUnbuffered on the referenced stream), but that seemed like overreach
since the client may have more things to write.)
(I considered merging buffer_ostream and buffer_unique_ostream into a
single class (with a `raw_ostream&` and a `std::unique_ptr` that is only
sometimes used), but that makes the class bigger and the small amount of
code deduplication seems uncompelling.)

Expected<T>::moveInto() takes as an out parameter any `OtherT&` that's
assignable from `T&&`. It moves any stored value before returning
takeError().
Since moveInto() consumes both the Error and the value, it's only
anticipated that we'd use call it on temporaries/rvalues, with naming
the Expected first likely to be an anti-pattern of sorts (either you
want to deal with both at the same time, or you don't). As such,
starting it out as `&&`-qualified... but it'd probably be fine to drop
that if there's a good use case for lvalues that appears.
There are two common patterns that moveInto() cleans up:

This ensures that re-creating "the same" FS results in the same UIDs for files.
In turn, this means that creating a clang module (preamble) using one in-memory
filesystem and consuming it using another doesn't create duplicate FileEntrys
for files that are the same in both FSes.
It's tempting to give the creator control over the UIDs instead. However that
requires fiddly API changes, e.g. what should the UIDs of intermediate
directories be?
This change is more "magic" but seems safe given:
- InMemoryFilesystem is used in testing more than production
- comparing UIDs across filesystems is unusual
- files with the same path and content are usually logically equivalent
(The usual reason for re-creating virtual filesystems rather than reusing them
is that typical use involves mutating their CWD and so is not threadsafe).

The closing namespace comment prevents clang-format from dropping a
blank line after the final test. Also add in a blank line (which
simplifies merging/rebasing/etc. WIP patches).
Most PDB fields on disk are 32-bit but describe the file in terms of MSF
blocks, which are 4 kiB by default.
So PDB files can be a bit larger than 4 GiB, and much larger if you create them
with a block size > 4 kiB.
This is a first (necessary, but by far not not sufficient) step towards
supporting such PDB files. Now we don't truncate in-memory file offsets (which
are in terms of bytes, not in terms of blocks).
No effective behavior change. lld-link will still error out if it were to
produce PDBs > 4 GiB.

This renames the primary methods for creating a zero value to `getZero`
instead of `getNullValue` and renames predicates like `isAllOnesValue`
to simply `isAllOnes`. This achieves two things:
1) This starts standardizing predicates across the LLVM codebase,
following (in this case) ConstantInt. The word "Value" doesn't
convey anything of merit, and is missing in some of the other things.
2) Calling an integer "null" doesn't make any sense. The original sin
here is mine and I've regretted it for years. This moves us to calling
it "zero" instead, which is correct!
APInt is widely used and I don't think anyone is keen to take massive source
breakage on anything so core, at least not all in one go. As such, this
doesn't actually delete any entrypoints, it "soft deprecates" them with a
comment.
Included in this patch are changes to a bunch of the codebase, but there are
more. We should normalize SelectionDAG and other APIs as well, which would
make the API change more mechanical.

This ensures error messages from gtest includes the raw text of both
sides of the comparison - otherwise all gtest can report is the text of
the expression source, without any information about the values or how
they differ.
It's a common error in an API - to try to open an empty file, so it
seems like a reasonable FileError to produce "hey, you tried to open an
empty file" and to handle it the same way as any other file error.

This patch adds support for the next-generation arch14
CPU architecture to the SystemZ backend.
This includes:
- Basic support for the new processor and its features.
- Detection of arch14 as host processor.

The code was not considering the possibility that aligning
the current offset to the alignment of a queue might push
us past the end of the gap. Subtracting the offsets to
figure out the maximum field size for the gap then overflowed,
making us think that we had nearly unbounded space to fill.

Code in getCPUNameFromS390Model currently assumes that the
numerical value of the model number always increases with
future hardware. While this has happened to be the case
with the last few machines, it is not guaranteed -- that
assumption was violated with (much) older machines, and
it can be violated again with future machines.
Fix by explicitly listing model numbers for all supported
machine models.
We can build it with -Werror=global-constructors now. This helps
in situation where libSupport is embedded as a shared library,
potential with dlopen/dlclose scenario, and when command-line
parsing or other facilities may not be involved. Avoiding the
implicit construction of these cl::opt can avoid double-registration
issues and other kind of behavior.

First patch in a series adding MC layer support for the Arm Scalable
Matrix Extension.
This patch adds the following features:
sme, sme-i64, sme-f64
The sme-i64 and sme-f64 flags are for the optional I16I64 and F64F64
features.
If a target supports I16I64 then the following instructions are
implemented:
* 64-bit integer ADDHA and ADDVA variants (D105570).
* SMOPA, SMOPS, SUMOPA, SUMOPS, UMOPA, UMOPS, USMOPA, and USMOPS
instructions that accumulate 16-bit integer outer products into 64-bit
integer tiles.
If a target supports F64F64 then the FMOPA and FMOPS instructions that
accumulate double-precision floating-point outer products into
double-precision tiles are implemented.

This patch makes the operations on InstructionCost saturate, so that when
costs are accumulated they saturate to <max value>.
One of the compelling reasons for wanting to have saturation support
is because in various places, arbitrary values are used to represent
a 'high' cost, but when accumulating the cost of some set of operations
or a loop, overflow is not taken into account, which may lead to unexpected
results. By defining the operations to saturate, we can express the cost
of something 'very expensive' as InstructionCost::getMax().

This adds a new llvm::thread class with the same interface as std::thread
except there is an extra constructor that allows us to set the new thread's
stack size. On Darwin even the default size is boosted to 8MB to match the main
thread.
It also switches all users of the older C-style `llvm_execute_on_thread` API
family over to `llvm::thread` followed by either a `detach` or `join` call and
removes the old API.
Moved definition of DefaultStackSize into the .cpp file to hopefully
fix the build on some (GCC-6?) machines.
This adds a new llvm::thread class with the same interface as std::thread
except there is an extra constructor that allows us to set the new thread's
stack size. On Darwin even the default size is boosted to 8MB to match the main

On AIX the alignment implementation has the storage aligned to the

alignment applied is at least as strict as the required alignment.

This is a mechanical change. This actually also renames the

methods don't seem to be used outside of the llvm subproject, so
this doesn't break building of the rest of the monorepo.
I cannot find documentation on this CPU, and it
is not supported by the Arm Compiler 5 product either.

Update llvm::sys::fs::mapped_file_region to have a move constructor and
a move assignment operator, allowing it to be used as an Optional. Also,
update FileOutputBuffer's OnDiskBuffer to take advantage of this,
avoiding an extra allocation from the unique_ptr.
A nice follow-up would be to make the mapped_file_region constructor
private and replace its use with a factory function, such as
mapped_file_region::create(), that returns an Expected (or ErrorOr). I
don't plan on doing that immediately, but I might swing back later.

Any given Windows system will have only one "system" encoding for
UTF-16 (BE or LE), so the assert for the other one would always
show up as rotten. Use a common assertion for both paths to avoid
this.
Add a variant of `fs::resize_file` for use immediately before opening a
file with `mapped_file_region::readwrite`. On Windows, `_chsize`
(`ftruncate`) is slow, but `CreateFileMapping` (`mmap`) automatically
extends the file so the call to `fs::resize_file` can be skipped.
This optimization was added to `FileOutputBuffer` in
da9bc2e56d5a5c6332a9def1a0065eb399182b93; this commit just extracts the
logic out and adds a unit test.

As D99834 was meant specifically for FreeBSD, which still uses the older
non-trivial std::pair copy constructors, test for `__FreeBSD__` instead
of relying on a macro which is an internal detail of libc++.

Problem:
On SystemZ we need to open text files in text mode. On Windows, files opened in text mode adds a CRLF '\r\n' which may not be desirable.
Solution:
This patch adds two new flags
- OF_CRLF which indicates that CRLF translation is used.
- OF_TextWithCRLF = OF_Text | OF_CRLF indicates that the file is text and uses CRLF translation.
Developers should now use either the OF_Text or OF_TextWithCRLF for text files and OF_None for binary files. If the developer doesn't want carriage returns on Windows, they should use OF_Text, if they do want carriage returns on Windows, they should use OF_TextWithCRLF.
So this is the behaviour per platform with my patch:
z/OS:
OF_None: open in binary mode
OF_Text : open in text mode
OF_TextWithCRLF: open in text mode
Windows:
OF_None: open file with no carriage return
OF_Text: open file with no carriage return
OF_TextWithCRLF: open file with carriage return

The function utilizes Windows' SearchPathW function, which as I found out today, may also return directories. After looking at the Unix implementation of the file I found that it contains a check whether the found path is also executable. While fixing the Windows implementation, I also learned that sys::fs::access returns successfully when querying whether directories are executable, which the Unix version does not.
This patch makes both of these functions equivalent to their Unix implementation and insures that any path returned by sys::findProgramByName on Windows may only be executable, just like the Unix implementation.

I encountered this issue when running the LLVM testsuite. Commands of the form not test ... would fail to correctly execute test.exe, which is part of GnuWin32, as it actually tried to execute a folder called test, which happened to be in a directory on my PATH.

writeToOutput function is useful when it is necessary to create different kinds
of streams(based on stream name) and when we need to use a temporary file
while writing(which would be renamed into the resulting file in a success case).
This patch moves the writeToStream helper into the Support library.

This test currently fails to compile when using a MinGW toolchain as setenv is not defined. This function is a POSIX function Windows does not implement.
This patch enables the setenv macro used in the unit test for all of Windows, making the test compile and run successfully.

Adds a class `raw_ostream_iterator` that behaves like
std::ostream_iterator, but can be used with raw_ostream.
This is useful for using raw_ostream with std algorithms.
For example, it can be used to output std containers as follows:

std::copy(V.begin(), V.end(), raw_ostream_iterator<int>(outs(), ", "));
// Output: "1, 2, 3, "
```
The API tries to follow std::ostream_iterator as closely as is
practically possible.

As stated in the CMake manual, we are supposed to use MODULE rules to generate
plugin libraries:
"MODULE libraries are plugins that are not linked into other targets but may be
loaded dynamically at runtime using dlopen-like functionality"
Besides, LLVM's plugin infrastructure fits with the AIX treatment of .so
shared objects more than it fits with the AIX treatment of .a library archives
(which may contain shared objects).

We implement getHostCPUName() for AIX via systemcfg interfaces since access to the processor version register is a privileged operation. We return a value based on the current processor implementation mode.
This fixes the cpu detection used by clang for `-mcpu=native`.

Previously we'd hit UB due to an invalid left shift operand.
Also fix the WASM emitter to properly use SLEB128 encoding instead of
ULEB128 encoding for signed fields so that negative numbers don't
result in overly-large values that we can't read back any more.
In passing, don't diagnose a non-canonical ULEB128 that fits in a uint64_t but
has redundant trailing zero bytes.

Previously, operator== would consider the actual equality of the pairs
(lhs.Value, lhs.State) == (rhs.Value, rhs.State). However, if an invalid
cost was involved in a call to operator<, only the state would be
compared. Thus, it was not the case that ({2, Invalid} < {3, Invalid} ||
{2, Invalid} > {3, Invalid} || {2, Invalid} == {3, Invalid}).
This patch implements a true total ordering, where cost state is
considered first, then value. While it's not really imporant that
{2, Invalid} be considered to be less than {3, Invalid}, it's not a
problem either. This patch also implements operator== in terms of
operator<, so the two definitions will be kept in sync.

Previously file entries in the -ivfsoverlay yaml could map to a file in the
external file system, but directories had to list their contents in the form of
other file entries or directories. Allowing directory entries to map to a
directory in the external file system makes it possible to present an external
directory's contents in a different location and (in combination with the
'fallthrough' option) overlay one directory's contents on top of another.

Refactor the duplicated canonicalize-path logic in `FileCollector` and
`ModulesDependencyCollector` into a new utility called
`PathCanonicalizer` that's shared. This popped up when tracking down a
bug common to both in https://reviews.llvm.org/D95202.
As drive-bys, update a few names and comments to better reflect the
effect of the code, delay removal of `..`s to avoid an unnecessary extra
string copy, and leave behind a couple of FIXMEs for future

Don't emit an output dash for an empty sequence. Take emitting a vector
of strings for example:
std::vector<std::string> Strings = {"foo", "bar"};
LLVM_YAML_IS_SEQUENCE_VECTOR(std::string)
yout << Strings;
This emits the following YAML document.

- foo
- bar
...
When the vector is empty, this generates the following result:
---
- []
...
Although this is valid YAML, it does not match what we meant to emit.
The result is a one-element sequence consisting of an empty list.
Indeed, if we were to try to read this again we get an error:
YAML:2:4: error: not a mapping
- []
The problem is the output dash before the empty list. The correct output
would be:
---
[]
...
This patch fixes that by not emitting the output dash for an empty
sequence.

This patch addresses inconsistencies in the way fallthrough is handled
in the RedirectingFileSystem. Rather than trying to change the working
directory of the external filesystem, the RedirectingFileSystem will
canonicalize every path before handing it down. This guarantees that
relative paths are resolved relative to the RedirectingFileSystem's
working directory.
This allows us to have a strictly virtual working directory, and still
fallthrough for absolute paths, but not for relative paths that would
get resolved incorrectly at the lower layer (for example, in case of the
RealFileSystem, because the strictly virtual path does not exist).

All of these families were claiming to be a73 based, which was causing
-mcpu/mtune=native to never use the newer features available to these
cores.
Goes through each and bumps the individual cores to their respective Big
counterparts. Since this code path doesn't support big.little detection,
there was already a precedent set with the Qualcomm line to choose the
big cores only.
Adds a comment on each line for the product's name that the part number
refers to. Confirmed on-device and through Linux header naming
convections.
Additionally newer SoCs mix CPU implementer parts from multiple
implementers. Both 0x41 (ARM) and 0x51 (Qualcomm) in the Snapdragon case
This was causing a desync in information where the scan at the start to
find the implementer would mismatch the part scan later on.
Now scan for both implementer and part at the start so these stay in
sync.

This CPU supports all v8.5a features except BTI, and so identifies as v8.5a to
Clang. A bit weird, but the best way for things like xnu to detect the new
features it cares about.
The number of hardware threads available to a ThreadPool can be limited if setting an affinity mask.
For example:

Would let LLD only use 4 hyper-threads.

In normal conditions, when no affinity mask was set, ProcessorGroup::AllThreads was different from ProcessorGroup::UsableThreads. The previous code in llvm/lib/Support/Windows/Threading.inc L201 was improperly assuming those two values to be equal, and consequently was limiting the execution to only one CPU socket.

Check if all possible values for a pair of knownbits give the same icmp result - these are based off the checks performed in InstCombineCompares.cpp and D86578.

Previously you just two hex numbers you had to decode manually.
This change adds a predicate formatter for extension flags
to produce failure messages like:

Note that AEK_NONE is not meant to be user facing in the compiler
but here it is part of the tests. So failures may show an
extension "none" where the normal target parser wouldn't.
The formatter is implemented as a template on ARM::ISAKind
because the predicate formatters assume all parameters are used
for comparison.
(e.g. PRED_FORMAT3 is for comparing 3 values, not having 3
arguments in general)

Also convert the test function to use EXPECT_EQ and
remove the special case for the AEK_NONE extension.
This means that each test is marked as failing separatley
and the accumultated EXPECT failures are printed next
to that test, with its parameters.
Before they would be hidden by the "pass &=" pattern
and failures would print in one block since it was a
"single" test.

We were passing this as an argument but never using

We determined that the MSVC implementation of std::aligned* isn't suited
to our needs. It doesn't support 16 byte alignment or higher, and it
doesn't really guarantee 8 byte alignment. See
