Zarko Todorovski c1bb75febe [PowerPC] Allow wa inline asm to also accept floating point arguments
GCC documentation for the `wa` constraint states that:
```
wa

    A VSX register (VSR), vs0…vs63. This is either an FPR (vs0…vs31 are f0…f31)
    or a VR (vs32…vs63 are v0…v31).
```
This technically means that we could accept floating point parameters. In fact,
gcc itself does. The following testcase compiles and runs on all PPC platforms with GCC,
whereas clang/llc will assert:

Qiu Chaofan bc104fdcec [PowerPC] Relax register superclasses for paired memops
Relaxing superclass constraint for VSX register classes helps reducing
32-byte spills and copies when register pressure is high.

In test case affected, some of them introduces more copies due to new
allocation order. However, this patch should not be the root cause, and
we may be able to fix it in other places of register allocation.

Kai Luo bf58600bad [PowerPC] Make sure the first probe is full size or is the last probe when stack is realigned
When `-fstack-clash-protection` is enabled and stack has to be realigned, some parts of redzone is written prior the probe, so probe might overwrite content already written in redzone. To avoid it, we have to make sure the first probe is at full probe size or is the last probe so that we can skip redzone.

It also fixes violation of ABI under PPC where `r1` isn't updated atomically.

Jinsong Ji cd9e1a020c [Constants][PowerPC] Check exactlyValue for ppc_fp128 in isNullValue
PPC_FP128 determines isZero/isNan/isInf using high-order double value
 only. Checking isZero/isNegative might return the isNullValue unexpectedly.
 eg:
   0xM0000000000000000FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

isZero, but it is not NullValue.

Eli Friedman 44cdf771fe [AtomicExpand] Merge cmpxchg success and failure ordering when appropriate.
If we're not emitting separate fences for the success/failure cases, we
need to pass the merged ordering to the target so it can emit the
correct instructions.

For the PowerPC testcase, we end up with extra fences, but that seems
like an improvement over missing fences.  If someone wants to improve
that, the PowerPC backed could be taught to emit the fences after isel,
instead of depending on fences emitted by AtomicExpand.

Serge Pavlov 4d788fb80f [PowerPC] Split tests for constrained intrinsics
The test CodeGen/PowerPC/vector-constrained-fp-intrinsics.ll checks code
generation for constrained floating point intrinsics. Many test cases in
it were implemented using operations on constants. Constant folding of
constrained intrinsics would make these test cases almost useless,
because they would check only constant loading.

To keep the tests useful, operations on constants were replaced with
operations on function parameters.

Djordje Todorovic dee85d47d9 [LiveDebugVariables] Stop trimming locations of non-inlined vars
The D35953, D62650 and D73691 introduced trimming of variables locations
in LiveDebugVariables pass, since there are some cases where after
the virtregrewrite we have exploded number of DBG_VALUEs created for some
inlined variables. As it looks, all problematic cases were regarding
inlined variables, so it seems reasonable to stop trimming the location
ranges for non-inlined variables.
It has very good impact on the llvm-locstats report.

Jinsong Ji b2581196eb [AIX] Enable stackprotect feature
AIX use `__ssp_canary_word` instead of `__stack_chk_guard`.
This patch update the target hook to use correct symbol,
so that the basic stackprotect feature can work.

The traceback will be handled in follow up patch.

Quinn Pham 62b5df7fe2 [PowerPC] Added multiple PowerPC builtins
This is the first in a series of patches to provide builtins for
compatibility with the XL compiler. Most of the builtins already had
intrinsics and only needed to be implemented in the front end.
Intrinsics were created for the three iospace builtins, eieio, and icbt.
Pseudo instructions were created for eieio and iospace_eieio to
ensure that nops were inserted before the eieio instruction.

Jessica Clarke e10958c807 [SelectionDAG][Mips][PowerPC][RISCV][WebAssembly] Teach computeKnownBits/ComputeNumSignBits about atomics
Unlike normal loads these don't have an extension field, but we know
from TargetLowering whether these are sign-extending or zero-extending,
and so can optimise away unnecessary extensions.

This was noticed on RISC-V, where sign extensions in the calling
convention would result in unnecessary explicit extension instructions,
but this also fixes some Mips inefficiencies. PowerPC sees churn in the
tests as all the zero extensions are only for promoting 32-bit to
64-bit, but these zero extensions are still not optimised away as they
should be, likely due to i32 being a legal type.

This also simplifies the WebAssembly code somewhat, which currently
works around the lack of target-independent combines with some ugly
patterns that break once they're optimised away.

Re-landed with correct handling in ComputeNumSignBits for Tmp == VTBits,
where zero-extending atomics were incorrectly returning 0 rather than
the (slightly confusing) required return value of 1.

Re-landed again after D102819 fixed PowerPC to correctly zero-extend all
of its atomics as it claimed to do, since the combination of that bug
and this optimisation caused buildbot regressions.

Nemanja Ivanovic 74ae778176 [PowerPC] Do not emit dssall on AIX
This instruction is a nop on all server cores (certainly on all
cores that AIX supports) so it is fine to emit a nop instead of it.
In fact, that is exactly what XL emits. So we emit a nop on AIX
and we leave the codegen as is on other platforms since there may
indeed be cores out there for which this actually does some prefetching.

Nemanja Ivanovic 39e4676ca7 [PowerPC] Provide doubleword vector predicate form comparisons on Power7
There are two reasons this shouldn't be restricted to Power8 and up:
1. For XL compatibility
2. Because clang will expand comparison operators to these intrinsics*

*Without this patch, the following causes a selection error:

int test(vector signed long a, vector signed long b) {
  return a < b;
}

This patch provides the handling for the intrinsics in the back
end and removes the Power8 guards from the predicate functions
(vec_{all|any}_{eq|ne|gt|ge|lt|le}).

Stefan Pintilie c79bc5942d [PowerPC][Bug] Fix Bug in Stack Frame Update Code
The stack frame update code does not take into consideration spilling
to registers for callee saved registers. The option -ppc-enable-pe-vector-spills
turns on spilling to registers for callee saved registers and may expose a bug
in the code that moves a stack frame pointer update instruction.

Stefan Pintilie 6215f49b8f [PowerPC] Spilling to registers does not require frame index scavenging
If spills are to registers instead of to the stack then a copy will be used
and frame index scavenging is not required.

This patch adds debug info to frame index scavenging and makes sure that
spilling to registers does not cause frame index scavenging.

Zarko Todorovski d98e5e02ad [AIX] Remove unused vector registers from allocation order in the default AltiVec ABI
The previous implementation of the default AltiVec ABI marked registers V20-V31
as reserved.  This failed to prevent reserved VFRC registers being allocated.
In this patch instead of marking the registers reserved we remove unallowed
registers from the allocation order completely.

This is a slight rework of an implementation by @nemanjai

Jon Roelofs 421569b244 [EarlyIfConversion] Avoid producing selects with identical operands
This extends the early-ifcvt pass to avoid a few more cases where the resulting
select instructions would have matching operands.  Additionally, we now use TII
to determine "sameness" of the operands so that as TII gets smarter, so too
will ifcvt.

The attached test case was bugpoint-reduced down from CINT2000/252.eon in the

Amy Kwan 64d951be61 [PowerPC] Add new infrastructure to select load/store instructions, update P8/P9 load/store patterns.
This patch introduces a new infrastructure that is used to select the load and
store instructions in the PPC backend.

The primary motivation is that the current implementation of selecting load/stores
is dependent on the ordering of patterns in TableGen. Given this limitation, we
are not able to easily and reliably generate the P10 prefixed load and stores
instructions (such as when the immediates that fit within 34-bits). This
refactoring is meant to provide us with more control over the patterns/different
forms to exploit, as well as eliminating dependency of pattern declaration in TableGen.

The idea of this refactoring is that it introduces a set of addressing modes that
correspond to different instruction formats of a particular load and store
instruction, along with a set of common flags that describes a load/store.
Whenever a load/store instruction is being selected, we analyze the instruction
and compute a set of flags for it. The computed flags are then used to
select the most optimal load/store addressing mode.

This patch is the first of a series of patches to be committed - it contains the
initial implementation of the refactored load/store selection infrastructure and
also updates P8/P9 patterns to adopt this infrastructure. The idea is that
incremental patches will add more implementation and support, and eventually
the old implementation will be removed.

Sidharth Baveja 70c433a184 [XCOFF][AIX] Add Global Variables Directly to TOC for 32 bit AIX
Summary:
This patch implements the backend implementation of adding global variables
directly to the table of contents (TOC), rather than adding the address of the
variable to the TOC.
Currently, this patch will look for the "toc-data" attribute on symbols in the
IR, and then add those symbols to the TOC.
ATM, this is implemented for 32 bit AIX.

Qiu Chaofan 56d923efdb [SPE] Support constrained float operations on SPE
This patch enables support on SPE for constrained arithmetic and
comparison operations. This fixes bugzilla 50070.

One thing not covered is fcmp vs. fcmps on SPE. Some condition code
generates singaling comparison while some not. In this patch, all are
considered as singaling. So there might be still some issue when
compiling from C code.

Chen Zheng e5000eef81 [XCOFF] make .file directive have directory info
The .file directive is changed to only have basename in D36018 for
ELF.

But on AIX, we require the .file directive to also contain the
directory info. This aligns with other AIX compiler like XLC and is
required by some AIX tool like DBX.

Nemanja Ivanovic 03e7fefff8 [PowerPC] Canonicalize shuffles on big endian targets as well
Extend shuffle canonicalization and conversion of shuffles fed by vectorized
scalars to big endian subtargets. For big endian subtargets, loads and direct
moves of scalars into vector registers put the data in the correct element for
SCALAR_TO_VECTOR if the data type is 8 bytes wide. However, if the data type is
narrower, the value still ends up in the wrong place - althouth a different
wrong place than on little endian targets.

This patch extends the combine that keeps values where they are if they feed a
shuffle to big endian targets.

Nemanja Ivanovic 0148bf53f0 [PowerPC] Use correct node to get a super register from a subreg
The VSX tablegen file has some rather eggregious uses of
COPY_TO_REGCLASS even in situations where it needs to use
SUBREG_TO_REG. While this produces correct code, it often doesn't
allow the register coalescer to coalesce copies and the resulting
code ends up being suboptimal. This patch just changes over
patterns that should use SUBREG_TO_REG.

Amy Kwan bd6033eca7 [PowerPC] Materialize 34-bit constants with pli directly
Previously, 34-bit constants were materialized in selectI64Imm(), and we relied
on td pattern matching to instead produce a pli. This becomes problematic as
there is no guarantee that the 34-bit constant will reach the td pattern
selection for pli. It is also possible for other transformations (such as complex
bit permutations) to also produce and utilize the 34-bit constant materialized
through selectI64Imm().

This patch instead produces pli on Power10 directly whenever the constant fits
within 34-bits.

Simonas Kazlauskas 777a58e05b Support {S,U}REMEqFold before legalization
This allows these optimisations to apply to e.g. `urem i16` directly
before `urem` is promoted to i32 on architectures where i16 operations
are not intrinsically legal (such as on Aarch64). The legalization then
later can happen more directly and generated code gets a chance to avoid
wasting time on computing results in types wider than necessary, in the end.

Seems like mostly an improvement in terms of results at least as far as x86_64 and aarch64 are concerned, with a few regressions here and there. It also helps in preventing regressions in changes like {D87976}.

This is currently performed in SelectionDAGLegalize, here we make it also
happen in LegalizeVectorOps, allowing a target to lower the SETCC condition
codes first in LegalizeVectorOps and then lower to a custom node afterwards,
without having to duplicate all of the SETCC condition legalization in the
target specific lowering.

As a result of this, fixed length floating point SETCC nodes can now be
properly lowered for SVE.

Nemanja Ivanovic a8697c57fa [PowerPC] Fix the check for 16-bit signed field in peephole
When a D-Form instruction is fed by an add-immediate, we attempt
to merge the two immediates to form a single displacement so we
can remove the add-immediate.

However, we don't check whether the new displacement fits into
a 16-bit signed immediate field early enough. Namely, we do a
sign-extend from 16 bits first which will discard high bits and
then we check whether the result is a 16-bit signed immediate.
It of course will always be.

Move the check prior to the sign extend to ensure we are checking
the correct value.

from `ScalarEvolution::createSCEV()`, and add constant folding
into `ScalarEvolution::getPtrToIntExpr()`.
This way, `null` constants stay as such in SCEV's,
but gracefully become zero integers when asked.

Nemanja Ivanovic b0f0115308 [AIX][TLS] Generate 32-bit general-dynamic access code sequence
Adds support for the TLS general dynamic access model to
assembly files on AIX 32-bit.

To generate the correct code sequence when accessing a TLS variable
`v`, we first create two TOC entry nodes, one for the variable offset, one
for the region handle. These nodes are followed by a `PPCISD::TLSGD_AIX`
node (new node introduced by this patch).
The `PPCISD::TLSGD_AIX` node (`TLSGDAIX` pseudo instruction) is
expanded to 2 copies (to put the variable offset and region handle in
the right registers) and a call to `__tls_get_addr`.

This patch also changes the way TC entries are generated in asm files.
If the generated TC entry is for the region handle of a TLS variable,
we add the `@m` relocation and the `.` prefix to the entry name.
For example:

  .tc .v[TC],v[TL]@m -> region handle
L..C1:
  .tc v[TC],v[TL] -> variable offset
```

Sanjay Patel f75b5305f4 [ConstantFold] allow folding icmp of null and constexpr
I noticed that we were not folding expressions like this:
icmp ult (constexpr), null
in https://llvm.org/PR49355, so we end up with extremely large
icmp instructions as the constant expressions pile up on each other.

There is no potential to mis-fold an unsigned boundary condition
with a zero/null, so this is just falling through a crack in the
pattern matching.

The more general case of comparisons of non-zero constants and
constexpr are more tricky and may require the datalayout to know
how to cast to different types, etc. Negative tests verify that
we are only changing a subset of potential patterns.

Victor Huang 1756b2adc9 [AIX][TLS] Generate TLS variables in assembly files
This patch allows generating TLS variables in assembly files on AIX.
Initialized and external uninitialized variables are generated with the
.csect pseudo-op and local uninitialized variables are generated with
the .comm/.lcomm pseudo-ops. The patch also adds a check to
explicitly say that TLS is not yet supported on AIX.

Arthur Eubanks 040c1b49d7 Move EntryExitInstrumentation pass location
This seems to be more of a Clang thing rather than a generic LLVM thing,
so this moves it out of LLVM pipelines and as Clang extension hooks into
LLVM pipelines.

Move the post-inline EEInstrumentation out of the backend pipeline and
into a late pass, similar to other sanitizer passes. It doesn't fit
into the codegen pipeline.

Also fix up EntryExitInstrumentation not running at -O0 under the new
PM. PR49143

Craig Topper e745f7c563 [LegalizeTypes] Improve ExpandIntRes_XMULO codegen.
The code previously used two BUILD_PAIRs to concatenate the two UMULO
results with 0s in the lower bits to match original VT. Then it created
an ADD and a UADDO with the original bit width. Each of those operations
need to be expanded since they have illegal types.

Since we put 0s in the lower bits before the ADD, the lower half of the
ADD result will be 0. So the lower half of the UADDO result is
solely determined by the other operand. Since the UADDO need to
be split in half, we don't really needd an operation for the lower
bits. Unfortunately, we don't see that in type legalization and end up
creating something more complicated and DAG combine or
lowering aren't always able to recover it.

This patch directly generates the narrower ADD and UADDO to avoid
needing to legalize them. Now only the MUL is done on the original
type.

Fangrui Song 47c5576d7d ELF: Create unique SHF_GNU_RETAIN sections for llvm.used global objects
If a global object is listed in `@llvm.used`, place it in a unique section with
the `SHF_GNU_RETAIN` flag. The section is a GC root under `ld --gc-sections`
with LLD>=13 or GNU ld>=2.36.

For front ends which do not expect to see multiple sections of the same name,
consider emitting `@llvm.compiler.used` instead of `@llvm.used`.

SHF_GNU_RETAIN is restricted to ELFOSABI_GNU and ELFOSABI_FREEBSD in
binutils. We don't do the restriction - see the rationale in D95749.

The integrated assembler has supported SHF_GNU_RETAIN since D95730.
GNU as>=2.36 supports section flag 'R'.
We don't need to worry about GNU ld support because older GNU ld just ignores
the unknown SHF_GNU_RETAIN.

With this change, `__attribute__((retain))` functions/variables emitted
by clang will get the SHF_GNU_RETAIN flag.

Chen Zheng 71a3986247 [XCOFF] add C_FILE symbol at index 0 of symbol table.
This is for XCOFF DWARF support.

Seems when DWARF debug is enable, symbol 0 has special usage
for AIX binder. At least, symbol 0 can not be the .text
section. Otherwise, we get some binding time error.

Add correct C_FILE symbol at index 0 here to make AIX binder
work.

Stefan Pintilie b80357d46e [PowerPC] Add option for ROP Protection
Added -mrop-protection for Power PC to turn on codegen that provides some
protection from ROP attacks.

The option is off by default and can be turned on for Power 8, Power 9 and
Power 10.

This patch is for the option only. The feature will be implemented by a later
patch.

Craig Topper 5744502a13 [TargetLowering][RISCV][AArch64][PowerPC] Enable BuildUDIV/BuildSDIV on illegal types before type legalization if we can find a larger legal type that supports MUL.
If we wait until the type is legalized, we'll lose information
about the orginal type and need to use larger magic constants.
This gets especially bad on RISCV64 where i64 is the only legal
type.

I've limited this to simple scalar types so it only works for
i8/i16/i32 which are most likely to occur. For more odd types
we might want to do a small promotion to a type where MULH is legal
instead.

Unfortunately, this does prevent some urem/srem+seteq matching since
that still require legal types.

Nemanja Ivanovic a5222aa085 [DAGCombine] Do not remove masking argument to FP16_TO_FP for some targets
As of commit 284f2bffc9, the DAG Combiner gets rid of the masking of the
input to this node if the mask only keeps the bottom 16 bits. This is because
the underlying library function does not use the high order bits. However, on
PowerPC's ELFv2 ABI, it is the caller that is responsible for clearing the bits
from the register. Therefore, the library implementation of __gnu_h2f_ieee will
return an incorrect result if the bits aren't cleared.

This combine is desired for ARM (and possibly other targets) so this patch adds
a query to Target Lowering to check if this zeroing needs to be kept.

Stefan Pintilie 288f762b6f [PowerPC] Materialize 34 bit constants with pli on Power 10.
NOTE: This patch was originally written by Anil Mahmud. His code has been
rebased but otherwise left mostly unchanged.

A new instructon on Power 10 allows for the materialization of 34 bit
immediate values. This patch allows the compiler to take advantage of
the new instruction in this situation.

Albion Fung 2e470e03b4 [PowerPC][Power10] Fix XXSPLI32DX not correctly exploiting specific cases
Some cases may be transformed into 32 bit splats before hitting the boolean statement, which may cause incorrect behaviour and provide XXSPLTI32DX with the incorrect values of splat. The condition was reversed so that the shortcut prevents this problem.

Nemanja Ivanovic 54e570d94a [PowerPC] Do not emit XXSPLTI32DX for sub 64-bit constants
If the APInt returned by BuildVectorSDNode::isConstantSplat() is narrower than
64 bits, the result produced by XXSPLTI32DX is incorrect. The result returned
by the function appears to be incorrect and we'll investigate/fix it in a
follow-up commit. However, since this causes miscompiles, we must
temporarily disable emitting this instruction for such values.

Nemanja Ivanovic 8018f731f0 [PowerPC] Do not emit HW loop with half precision operations
If a loop has any operations on half precision values, there will be calls to
library functions on Power8. Even on Power9, there is a small subset of
instructions that are actually supported for the type.

This patch disables HW loops whenever any operations on the type are found
(other than the handfull of supported ones when compiling for Power9). Fixes a

Qiu Chaofan 449f2f7140 [PowerPC] Duplicate inherited heuristic from base scheduler
PowerPC has its custom scheduler heuristic. It calls parent classes'
tryCandidate in override version, but the function returns void, so this
way doesn't actually help. This patch duplicates code from base scheduler
into PPC machine scheduler class, which does what we wanted.

Victor Huang 909d6c86ea [PowerPC] Fix the check for the instruction using FRSP/XSRSP output register
When performing peephole optimization to simplify the code, after removing
passed FPSP/XSRSP instruction we will set any uses of that FRSP/XSRSP to the
source of the FRSP/XSRSP.

We are finding the machine instruction using virtual register holding FRSP/XSRSP
results by searching all following instructions and encountering an issue
that the first use of the virtual register is a debug MI causing:
1. virtual register in the debug MI removed unexpectedly.
2. virtual register used in non-debug MI not replaced with the source of
  FRSP/XSRSP. which stays in a undef status.

This patch fix the issue by only searching non-debug machine instruction using
virtual register holding FRSP/XSRSP results when the vr only has one non debug
usage.

Bjorn Pettersson 4f15556731 [LegalizeDAG] Handle NeedInvert when expanding BR_CC
This is a follow-up fix to commit 03c8d6a0c4.
Seems like we now end up with NeedInvert being set in the result
from LegalizeSetCCCondCode more often than in the past, so we
need to handle NeedInvert when expanding BR_CC.

Not sure how to deal with the "Tmp4.getNode()" case properly,
but current assumption is that that code path isn't impacted
by the changes in 03c8d6a0c4 so we can simply move
the old assert into the if-branch and only handle NeedInvert in the
else-branch.

I think that the test case added here, for PowerPC, might have
failed also before commit 03c8d6a0c4. But we started
to hit the assert more often downstream when having merged that
commit.

Craig Topper 03c8d6a0c4 [LegalizeDAG][RISCV][PowerPC][AMDGPU][WebAssembly] Improve expansion of SETONE/SETUEQ on targets without SETO/SETUO.
If SETO/SETUO aren't legal, they'll be expanded and we'll end up
with 3 comparisons.

SETONE is equivalent to (SETOGT || SETOLT)
so if one of those operations is supported use that expansion. We
don't need both since we can commute the operands to make the other.

SETUEQ can be implemented with !(SETOGT || SETOLT) or (SETULE && SETUGE).
I've only implemented the first because it didn't look like most of the
affected targets had legal SETULE/SETUGE.

Nemanja Ivanovic 3f7b4ce960 [PowerPC] Add support for embedded devices with EFPU2
PowerPC cores like e200z759n3 [1] using an efpu2 only support single precision
hardware floating point instructions. The single precision instructions efs*
and evfs* are identical to the spe float instructions while efd* and evfd*
instructions trigger a not implemented exception.

This patch introduces a new command line option -mefpu2 which leads to
single-hardware / double-software code generation.

Craig Topper b1c304c494 [CodeGen] Try to make the print of memory operand alignment a little more user friendly.
Memory operands store a base alignment that does not factor in
the effect of the offset on the alignment.

Previously the printing code only printed the base alignment if
it was different than the size. If there is an offset, the reader
would need to figure out the effective alignment themselves. This
has confused me before and someone else was recently confused on
IRC.

This patch prints the possibly offset adjusted alignment if it is
different than the size. And prints the base alignment if it is
different than the alignment. The MIR parser has been updated to
read basealign in addition to align.
