Amy Huang 589ce5f705 [DebugInfo] Move constructor homing case in shouldOmitDefinition.
For some reason the ctor homing case was before the template
specialization case, and could have returned false too early.
I moved the code out into a separate function to avoid this.

Also added a run line to the template specialization test. I guess
all the -debug-info-kind=limited tests should still pass with =constructor,
but it's probably unnecessary to test for all of those.

Raphael Isemann 105151ca56 Reland "Correctly emit dwoIDs after ASTFileSignature refactoring (D81347)"
The orignal patch with the missing 'REQUIRES: asserts' as there is a debug-only
flag used in the test.

Original summary:

D81347 changes the ASTFileSignature to be an array of 20 uint8_t instead of 5
uint32_t. However, it didn't update the code in ObjectFilePCHContainerOperations
that creates the dwoID in the module from the ASTFileSignature
(`Buffer->Signature` being the array subclass that is now `std::array<uint8_t,
20>` instead of `std::array<uint32_t, 5>`).

```
  uint64_t Signature = [..] (uint64_t)Buffer->Signature[1] << 32 | Buffer->Signature[0]
```

This code works with the old ASTFileSignature (where two uint32_t are enough to
fill the uint64_t), but after the patch this only took two bytes from the
ASTFileSignature and only partly filled the Signature uint64_t.

This caused that the dwoID in the module ref and the dwoID in the actual module
no longer match (which in turns causes that LLDB keeps warning about the dwoID's
not matching when debugging -gmodules-compiled binaries).

This patch just unifies the logic for turning the ASTFileSignature into an
uint64_t which makes the dwoID match again (and should prevent issues like that
in the future).

Richard Smith 740a164dec PR46377: Fix dependence calculation for function types and typedef
types.

We previously did not treat a function type as dependent if it had a
parameter pack with a non-dependent type -- such a function type depends
on the arity of the pack so is dependent even though none of the
parameter types is dependent. In order to properly handle this, we now
treat pack expansion types as always being dependent types (depending on
at least the pack arity), and always canonically being pack expansion
types, even in the unusual case when the pattern is not a dependent
type. This does mean that we can have canonical types that are pack
expansions that contain no unexpanded packs, which is unfortunate but
not inaccurate.

We also previously did not treat a typedef type as
instantiation-dependent if its canonical type was not
instantiation-dependent. That's wrong because instantiation-dependence
is a property of the type sugar, not of the type; an
instantiation-dependent type can have a non-instantiation-dependent
canonical type.

In detail this patch:
- introduces an opaque, storage-only C-type __bf16, which introduces a new bfloat IR type.

This is part of a patch series, starting with command-line and Bfloat16
assembly support. The subsequent patches will upstream intrinsics
support for BFloat16, followed by Matrix Multiplication and the
remaining Virtualization features of the armv8.6-a architecture.

the loaded values are cast to a vector. This ensures matrix values use
the alignment of the element type, instead of LLVM's large vector

Erich Keane 61ba1481e2 Implement _ExtInt as an extended int type specifier.
Introduction/Motivation:
LLVM-IR supports integers of non-power-of-2 bitwidth, in the iN syntax.
Integers of non-power-of-two aren't particularly interesting or useful
on most hardware, so much so that no language in Clang has been
motivated to expose it before.

However, in the case of FPGA hardware normal integer types where the
full bitwidth isn't used, is extremely wasteful and has severe
performance/space concerns. Because of this, Intel has introduced this
functionality in the High Level Synthesis compiler[0]
under the name "Arbitrary Precision Integer" (ap_int for short). This
has been extremely useful and effective for our users, permitting them
to optimize their storage and operation space on an architecture where
both can be extremely expensive.

We are proposing upstreaming a more palatable version of this to the
community, in the form of this proposal and accompanying patch. We are
proposing the syntax _ExtInt(N). We intend to propose this to the WG14
committee[1], and the underscore-capital seems like the active direction
for a WG14 paper's acceptance. An alternative that Richard Smith
suggested on the initial review was __int(N), however we believe that
is much less acceptable by WG14. We considered _Int, however _Int is
used as an identifier in libstdc++ and there is no good way to fall
back to an identifier (since _Int(5) is indistinguishable from an
unnamed initializer of a template type named _Int).

Richard Smith bab6df86ae Rework how UuidAttr, CXXUuidofExpr, and GUID template arguments and constants are represented.
Summary:
Previously, we treated CXXUuidofExpr as quite a special case: it was the
only kind of expression that could be a canonical template argument, it
could be a constant lvalue base object, and so on. In addition, we
represented the UUID value as a string, whose source form we did not
preserve faithfully, and that we partially parsed in multiple different
places.

With this patch, we create an MSGuidDecl object to represent the
implicit object of type 'struct _GUID' created by a UuidAttr. Each
UuidAttr holds a pointer to its 'struct _GUID' and its original
(as-written) UUID string. A non-value-dependent CXXUuidofExpr behaves
like a DeclRefExpr denoting that MSGuidDecl object. We cache an APValue
representation of the GUID on the MSGuidDecl and use it from constant
evaluation where needed.

This allows removing a lot of the special-case logic to handle these
expressions. Unfortunately, many parts of Clang assume there are only
a couple of interesting kinds of ValueDecl, so the total amount of
special-case logic is not really reduced very much.

This fixes a few bugs and issues:
 * PR38490: we now support reading from GUID objects returned from
   __uuidof during constant evaluation.
 * Our Itanium mangling for a non-instantiation-dependent template
argument involving __uuidof no longer depends on which CXXUuidofExpr
template argument we happened to see first.
 * We now predeclare ::_GUID, and permit use of __uuidof without
any header inclusion, better matching MSVC's behavior. We do not
predefine ::__s_GUID, though; that seems like a step too far.
 * Our IR representation for GUID constants now uses the correct IR type
wherever possible. We will still fall back to using the
      {i32, i16, i16, [8 x i8]}
layout if a definition of struct _GUID is not available. This is not
ideal: in principle the two layouts could have different padding.

Before this patch a Clang module skeleton CU would have a

this information was not used by anyone. Even worse, LLDB actually
resolves relative DWO paths by appending it to DW_AT_comp_dir. This
patch sets it to the same directory that is used as the main CU's
compilation directory, which would make the LLDB code work.

Summary:
- https://reviews.llvm.org/D68578 revises the `GlobalDecl` constructors
to ensure all GPU kernels have `ReferenceKenelKind` initialized
properly with an explicit constructor and static one. But, there are
lots of places using the implicit constructor triggering the assertion

- Fixing all of them may change more code and, more importantly, all of
them assumes the default kernel reference kind. This patch changes
that constructor to tell `CUDAGlobalAttr` and construct `GlobalDecl`

- Move "import complete" bit from Module* pointer int pair to

The DW_AT_LLVM_sysroot attribute is used for Clang module debug info,
to allow LLDB to import a Clang module from source. Currently it is
part of each DW_TAG_module, however, it is the same for all modules in
a compile unit. It is more efficient and less ambiguous to store it
once in the DW_TAG_compile_unit.

This should have no effect on DWARF consumers other than LLDB.

Raphael Isemann ccfab8e459 [ObjC][DWARF] Emit DW_AT_APPLE_objc_direct for methods marked as __attribute__((objc_direct))
Summary:
With DWARF5 it is no longer possible to distinguish normal methods and methods with `__attribute__((objc_direct))` by just looking at the debug information
as they are both now children of the of the DW_TAG_structure_type that defines them (before only the `__attribute__((objc_direct))` methods were children).

This means that in LLDB we are no longer able to create a correct Clang AST of a module by just looking at the debug information. Instead we would
need to call the Objective-C runtime to see which of the methods have a `__attribute__((objc_direct))` and then add the attribute to our own Clang AST
depending on what the runtime returns. This would mean that we either let the module AST be dependent on the Objective-C runtime (which doesn't
seem right) or we retroactively add the missing attribute to the imported AST in our expressions.

A third option is to annotate methods with `__attribute__((objc_direct))` as `DW_AT_APPLE_objc_direct` which is what this patch implements. This way
LLDB doesn't have to call the runtime for any `__attribute__((objc_direct))` method and the AST in our module will already be correct when we create it.

Yonghong Song d77ae1552f [DebugInfo] Support to emit debugInfo for extern variables
Extern variable usage in BPF is different from traditional
pure user space application. Recent discussion in linux bpf
mailing list has two use cases where debug info types are
required to use extern variables:
  - extern types are required to have a suitable interface
in libbpf (bpf loader) to provide kernel config parameters
    to bpf programs.
    https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/CAEf4BzYCNo5GeVGMhp3fhysQ=_axAf=23PtwaZs-yAyafmXC9g@mail.gmail.com/T/#t
  - extern types are required so kernel bpf verifier can
verify program which uses external functions more precisely.
This will make later link with actual external function no
    need to reverify.
    https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/87eez4odqp.fsf@toke.dk/T/#m8d5c3e87ffe7f2764e02d722cb0d8cbc136880ed

This patch added clang support to emit debuginfo for extern variables
with a TargetInfo hook to enable it. The debuginfo for the
extern variable is emitted only if that extern variable is
referenced in the current compilation unit.

Currently, only BPF target enables to generate debug info for
extern variables. The emission of such debuginfo is disabled for C++
at this moment since BPF only supports a subset of C language.
Emission with C++ can be enabled later if an appropriate use case
is identified.

-fstandalone-debug permits us to see more debuginfo with the cost
of bloated binary size. This patch did not add emission of extern
variable debug info with -fstandalone-debug. This can be
re-evaluated if there is a real need.

This commit sets the Self and Imp declarations for ObjC method declarations,
in addition to the definitions. It also fixes
a bunch of code in clang that had wrong assumptions about when getSelfDecl() would be set:

- CGDebugInfo::getObjCMethodName and AnalysisConsumer::getFunctionName would assume that it was
set for method declarations part of a protocol, which they never were,
and that self would be a Class type, which it isn't as it is id for a protocol.

Also use the Canonical Decl to index the set of Direct methods so that
when calls and implementations interleave, the same llvm::Function is
used and the same symbol name emitted.

Currently, clang emits subprograms for declared functions when the

Treat DW_AT_tail_call the same way to allow debuggers to follow cross-TU
tail calls.

Pre-patch debug session with a cross-TU tail call:

```
  * frame #0: 0x0000000100000fa4 main`target at b.c:4:3 [opt]
    frame #1: 0x0000000100000f99 main`main at a.c:8:10 [opt]
```
  * frame #0: 0x0000000100000fa4 main`target at b.c:4:3 [opt]
    frame #1: 0x0000000100000f80 main`helper [opt] [artificial]

This was reverted in 5b9a072c because it attached declaration
subprograms to inlinable builtin calls, which interacted badly with the

It turns out that the ExprMutationAnalyzer can be very slow when AST
gets huge in some cases. The idea is to move this analysis to the LLVM
back-end level (more precisely, in the LiveDebugValues pass). The new
approach will remove the performance regression, simplify the
implementation and give us front-end independent implementation.

Adrian Prantl 901cc4a4bc Debug Info: Nest Objective-C property function decls inside their container.
This has the nice side-effect of also fixing a crash in Clang.

Starting with DWARF 5 we are emitting ObjC method declarations as
children of their containing entity. This worked for interfaces, but
didn't consider the case of synthessized properties. When a property
of a protocol is synthesized in an interface implementation the
ObjCMethodDecl that was passed to CGF::StartFunction was the property
*declaration* which obviously couldn't have a containing
interface. This patch passes the containing interface all the way
through to CGDebugInfo, so the function declaration can be created
with the correct parent (= the class implementing the protocol).

Currently, clang emits subprograms for declared functions when the

Richard Sandiford eb485fbc71 Add SVE opaque built-in types
This patch adds the SVE built-in types defined by the Procedure Call
Standard for the Arm Architecture:

   https://developer.arm.com/docs/100986/0000

It handles the types in all relevant places that deal with built-in types.
At the moment, some of these places bail out with an error, including:

   (1) trying to generate LLVM IR for the types
   (2) trying to generate debug info for the types
   (3) trying to mangle the types using the Microsoft C++ ABI
   (4) trying to @encode the types in Objective C

(1) and (2) are fixed by follow-on patches but (unlike this patch)
they deal mostly with target-specific LLVM details, so seemed like
a logically separate change. There is currently no spec for (3) and
(4), so reporting an error seems like the correct behaviour for now.

The intention is that the types will become sizeless types:

   http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2019-June/062523.html

The main purpose of the sizeless type extension is to diagnose
impossible or dangerous uses of the types, such as any that would
require sizeof to have a meaningful defined value.

Until then, the patch sets the alignments of the types to the values
specified in the link above. It also sets the sizes of the types to
zero, which is chosen to be consistently wrong and shouldn't affect
correctly-written code (i.e. code that would compile even with the
sizeless type extension).

The patch adds the common subset of functionality needed to test the
sizeless type extension on the one hand and to provide SVE intrinsic
functions on the other. After this patch, the two pieces of work are
essentially independent.

The patch is based on one by Graham Hunter:

The test CodeGen/split-debug-filename.c distinguished between having set
or not set -enable-split-dwarf with -split-dwarf-file, but we can
probably just always emit the metadata into the IR.

With Split DWARF the resulting object file (then called skeleton CU)
contains the file name of another ("DWO") file with the debug info.
This can be a problem for remote compilation, as it will contain the
name of the file on the compilation server, not on the client.

To use Split DWARF with remote compilation, one needs to either

* make sure only relative paths are used, and mirror the build directory
structure of the client on the server,
* inject the desired file name on the client directly.

Since llc already supports the latter solution, we're just copying that
over. We allow setting the actual output filename separately from the
value of the DW_AT_[GNU_]dwo_name attribute in the skeleton CU.

Consider:
  template <typename LHS, typename RHS> constexpr bool is_same_v = false;
  template <typename T> constexpr bool is_same_v<T, T> = true;
  template constexpr bool is_same_v<int, int>;

Before this change, when emitting debug info for the
`is_same_v<int, int>` global variable, clang would crash because it
would try to use the template parameter list from the partial
specialization to give parameter names to template arguments. This
doesn't work in general, since a partial specialization can have fewer
arguments than the primary template. Therefore, always use the primary
template. Hypothetically we could try to use the parameter names from
the partial specialization when possible, but it's not clear this really
helps debugging in practice.

Summary:
These flags are used when emitting debug info and needed to initialize subprogram and member function attributes (function options) for Codeview. These function options are used to create an accurate compiler type for UDT symbols (class/struct/union) from PDBs.

The Trivial flag was introduced in https://reviews.llvm.org/D45122

It's been pointed out that Trivial and NonTrivial may imply each other and that seems to be the case in the current tests. This change combines them into a single flag -- NonTrivial -- and updates the corresponding unit tests. There is an additional change to llvm to update the flags.

The original motivation for this was to use it and fix the TODO in

Adrian Prantl 212c104ea3 Reapply "Avoid emitting redundant or unusable directories in DIFile metadata entries.""
This reverts commit r348280 and reapplies D55085 without modifications.

Original commit message:

Avoid emitting redundant or unusable directories in DIFile metadata entries.

As discussed on llvm-dev recently, Clang currently emits redundant
directories in DIFile entries, such as

      .file 1 "/Volumes/Data/llvm" "/Volumes/Data/llvm/tools/clang/test/CodeGen/debug-info-abspath.c"

This patch looks at any common prefix between the compilation
directory and the (absolute) file path and strips the redundant
part. More importantly it leaves the compilation directory empty if
the two paths have no common prefix.

After this patch the above entry is (assuming a compilation dir of "/Volumes/Data/llvm/_build"):

      .file 1 "/Volumes/Data/llvm" "tools/clang/test/CodeGen/debug-info-abspath.c"

When building the FileCheck binary with debug info, this patch makes
    the build artifacts ~1kb smaller.

Erik Pilkington fa98390b3c NFC: Remove the ObjC1/ObjC2 distinction from clang (and related projects)
We haven't supported compiling ObjC1 for a long time (and never will again), so
there isn't any reason to keep these separate. This patch replaces
LangOpts::ObjC1 and LangOpts::ObjC2 with LangOpts::ObjC.

Adrian Prantl ba6fdc57b4 Debug Info (-gmodules): emit full types for non-anchored template specializations
Before this patch, clang would emit a (module-)forward declaration for
template instantiations that are not anchored by an explicit template
instantiation, but still are guaranteed to be available in an imported
module. Unfortunately detecting the owning module doesn't reliably
work when local submodule visibility is enabled and the template is
inside a cross-module namespace.

This make clang debuggable again with -gmodules and LSV enabled.

Vedant Kumar 5931b4e5b5 [DebugInfo] Add support for DWARF5 call site-related attributes
DWARF v5 introduces DW_AT_call_all_calls, a subprogram attribute which
indicates that all calls (both regular and tail) within the subprogram
have call site entries. The information within these call site entries
can be used by a debugger to populate backtraces with synthetic tail
call frames.

Tail calling frames go missing in backtraces because the frame of the
caller is reused by the callee. Call site entries allow a debugger to
reconstruct a sequence of (tail) calls which led from one function to
another. This improves backtrace quality. There are limitations: tail
recursion isn't handled, variables within synthetic frames may not
survive to be inspected, etc. This approach is not novel, see:

  https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/summit2010?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=jelinek.pdf

This patch adds an IR-level flag (DIFlagAllCallsDescribed) which lowers
to DW_AT_call_all_calls. It adds the minimal amount of DWARF generation
support needed to emit standards-compliant call site entries. For easier
deployment, when the debugger tuning is LLDB, the DWARF requirement is
adjusted to v4.

Testing: Apart from check-{llvm, clang}, I built a stage2 RelWithDebInfo
clang binary. Its dSYM passed verification and grew by 1.4% compared to
the baseline. 151,879 call site entries were added.

Calixte Denizet 5713db4c4a [CodeGen] Add to emitted DebugLoc information about coverage when it's required
Summary:
Some lines have a hit counter where they should not have one.
Cleanup stuff is located to the last line of the body which is most of the time a '}'.
And Exception stuff is added at the beginning of a function and at the end (represented by '{' and '}').
So in such cases, the DebugLoc used in GCOVProfiling.cpp must be marked as not covered.
